Reboot. Kodi will create another data folder by itself when its opened again. Or you can just uninstall/reinstall. My suggestion is to install SPMC, and not the official Kodi. Once everything is setup the way you want it, copy you whole data folder to your PC incase you delete it again.

Kodi not working
Many thanks.... by reboot do you mean to unplug it from power or uninstall it.
uninstall is I have under Kodi.
appreciate any detailed instruction as I am not tech savi.
have a great day.

Just uninstall then reinstall and it should be fine.

[Help]Apps form SD are unloadable(unreachable)

Hello to all!
At last few days, my phone start bugging.. First and biggest problem is that, all apps from SD card are unreachable( cant be loaded, but they are installed).. Also, other files are available on SD card.. Can preview pics, listen music, etc.. Also, few days before this problem, phone didnt open any pic and failed to load any video.. I dont know what I did, but that problem is gone..
Phone is rooted, and worked fine till now..
I must notice that this is happen after SD defragmentation.. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is last app I installed before problem..
Please, give me some options becouse I have alot apps installed and moved to SD.
Ty for any suggestions, all are welcome!
If you have apks than try to install them again.
If you don't have apks
Than u can find your installed apks here
just open any file manager
Go to
MNT>ASEC
just copy them
To sdcard and reinstall
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.
Your SD card has gone kaput. Try scan and fix through Windows. If it fixed, even then you may have to install apps again.
Ahh, ty guys..
I have apps on application menager, but icon is like unmounted SD card..
Also, I tried to defrag by PC, scan with NOD32, and nothing..
I have good progress in games, so it would be a pity to play them again.. Btw, if that is only way, I dont have to choose..
Feel free to give me some more recommendations..:good:
Guys, if someone can post me some good file menager with which I can see and "backup" list of apps and apps.. I have installed Kies, but they dont have ability for that..
Ty

Again, try saving the game folder on your PC and restoring after fresh install. It should work.
I tried today Mi File Explorer, and in APKs, I dont have all installed games.. Only few... Maybe I need to setup something?
Mi File Explorer shows the APK installer file and not the installed APKs. So if you need to backup your installed APK, then installed Airdroid first and then from web interface, select the games files you need to backup and you're done.
I tried to connect to Airdroid, but still no apps.. There are not on System apps too..
I also tried to format MMS, but nothing...
Ok, I downloaded a Root Browser Lite and in phone memory(I think, its first what I see when I open the app) in folder Data>data, I found app folders.. U can see in attachments.. What should I do now?

[Q] Delete SystemUI data

SystemUI keeps crashing when it tries to restart, making my phone completely unusable. I'm not able to flash another ROM at the moment so what I'd like to try is deleting the app data for SystemUI (wiping cache and dalvik didn't work). I have Team Win Recovery so I'm able to access the filesystem to delete files.
Can anyone suggest which file(s) I should look for?

I want to keep my most recent files. I took some photos today and they didn't get a chance to instant upload. I can wait a few days until I get to a computer I can use ADB on to push a ROM.
Sounds like you don't need a working device.
a maguro wrote this.
Use adb to remove /data/data/com.android.systemui/ folder
Hey guys! Big news!
I've fixed the problem, well.. sort of.
I will edit the post If I had something else to test.
1. Uninstalled Android System Webview and installed the one that is present in the Play Store (I can't select it for Webview Implementation though)
2. Launched YouTube app and showed a green screen no matter what the quality is.
3. Tried Chrome and the video works well without any freezes.

Sure you can...
on your XBMC/KODI pc goto System - settings - add ons -get add ons - Kodi add-on repo - programsAdd-ons and get Backup.
Once you've done that, Open BackUp and configure the path where you want to save your backup. Usually a folder in ur pc where you can be able to access it from Amazon Firetv within your network.
while you are on the BackUp Add-on configuration section.. make sure you go to FileSelection and tick all the options except for the Custom ones and hit ok,
Then Open Backup Add-on and make a backup of your current XBMC/KODI.
You have to install the same BackUp Add-on into you Amazon Firetv configure the path where you saved the file of your backup on your pc and hit saved. Then go back to it and open it up and hit restore from backup.. will show usually some numbers which are the date and time of the latest backup. And there you have it. All the add ons and all from your XBMC/Kodi into your AFTV.
I hope it was clear enough to understand.
Good luck!
Thanks so much..

You need to sideload apps (apk files) using adb or utilize an app like adbfire.
Ok, the only way to install google play store its with amazon rooted?

What on earth are you talking about
1 - its not a random repo - its a backup of my setup which includes all the best & most common repos and add-ons - install on a fresh version of kodi and you will have pretty much everything setup in a few mins ready to go - saves you adding every repo manually & installing everything yourself
2 - I'm not a random user - I'm a recognised contributer to xda - I post useful & meaning stuff
If you choose not to use it or its not something you need just move on please
I didn't see your post count, so sorry about that.
BUT, people need to stop replying "if you don't like it, move along." It's a discussion board after all. EVERYTHING should be checked for validity, not just taken as word of God

Indeed that's why you should try it before commenting or judging
I'm all up for discussion but I don't like things like this is better than that or negative comments which aren't constructive eg doesn't work as the user hasn't said why or given any information about errors and so on so it's not a useful comment
thank you for this quick set up
Can't get this to push
Sorry, new user here and I can't get this to work. I'm connected and trying to push the backup.zip file from my Mac, but I keep getting an error message. It says the file "does not contain AndroidManifest.xml"
What am I doing wrong?
***Update***
I figured it out, I was trying to install and not push. I'm in the process of restoring now. The only piece of information that was missing here is to allow hidden files to be viewed in the settings "Before you can see hidden files such as .xbmc (files prefixed with a period are considered hidden), you need to enable showing them in Settings > Appearance > File Lists, "
nice work this has saved me loads of time
Or..you could go to "System", then "File Manager", "Add Profile" and type URL..
http://upgrades.montrealandroidtv.com
Save as .AndroidTV
Then go to System, Add Ons and then Install From ZIP and click on .Androidtv
And you got everything lol

Has anyone else had issues with this backup and or has your issue been resolved? I am deleting my current build tonight (Animal Kodi on Isengard RC2) to install the nightly and this backup. Not sure what I am in for, but as we are running on the same hardware, FireTV, I figured it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario, uninstall. Thanks for sharing!!
Please tell me how to get the backup.zip to my Ftv....I am on a mac running adbfire. I run the push option and the file must be too large because it ends up failing. I tried Firefox and when I get to the mediafire page i get an error about not having something to download it. I can find a way to get the file moved.
you need to install/open Kodi before you send that Zip file(to build file system so you can find it later...duh), currently trying out a few options will report back
Will this method work for the Fire Stick also
And is it the latest version of Kodi?

Hey everybody. I'm new at this and I'm stuck on step 12, choosing the destination for USB/SDCARD. How do I find the "location you placed the backup.zip"? I've done steps 1-11 described but don't know where the backup.zip file is. Is it in one of the blue folders (External storage, extUsb, Root filesystem)?
I know it sounds stupid but I just bought my FTV yesterday and Kodi 15.0 was the first thing I sideloaded. Thanks in advance.

You need to push (using adb) the backup.zip file onto the Fire. Use one of the apps on here to do it - adbFire worked for me.
The only addon I could get live streams for any USA channels to work was the USTVNow addon and those are only the major networks like ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC/PBS. Has anyone else had success with any of the other addons included with this for live streams?

Same Boat as you I have sideloaded the backup to my sdcard, it will show if I go to install from zip under addons. As soon as I go to the wizard the backup file does not exist.

Delete kftv launcher cache? (FS4K)

Is there a way to delete the cache for the default launcher? I dont have root. There is over 900mb of data inside that thing.
Thank you in advance,
Jason.

You can use ADB. Connect your Fire TV stick to your PC with a micro USB cable and run:
Code:
adb shell pm clear com.amazon.tv.launcher
NOTE: This will clear all application data and cache
You want to clear cache via recovery. Run:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
and select wipe cache partition.
So does that adb command delete all of the apps as well? Or just all of the app data?
Thank u for the reply btw!

No it just wipes the data completely from the launcher.
omg yes a fix for my (presumably) my huge mbcache.db that doesn't require root

@Amznuser444 -- I cannot thank you enough. This medium-level annoyance, over time, has become a colossal annoyance that up until a few minutes ago, had me almost over the fence on buying a new device. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. And @tdfsu -- and thank YOU too, for asking exactly the right question which landed my google search here.
*DISCLAIMER: Since I'm not rooted, I don't think there's a way for me to verify that the infamous and usually-guilty mbcache.db file was deleted/reset by clearing the cache of the launcher... but with the sideloaded help of DiskUsage (by Ivan Volosyuk) I was able to verify that 'KFTV Launcher' went from 2.10GB down to 93MB.
My 3rd-gen pendant firetv box is used for precisely two apps: youtube, and Kodi pulling media over NFS.
...and I'm a "kinda experienced" Kodi developer, with an efficient setup and svelte footprint, so the fact this dumb thing could run out of space was infuuuuriating me. I wasted a good hour finding only dozens of older forum posts suggesting only two solutions:
wipe & restore fireos
"get root" & rm the criminally-overinflated mbcache.db
...so I'd like to try and guide future people here and crosslink with some the pages I landed on before this one, to try and hint the google algorithm in what I think is this correct direction. From reddit: Out-of-storage space on rooted 1st Gen FireTV, with Kodi installed, Amazon Fire TV Hard Drive Full of WHAT?, PSA: To anyone having "low storage" problems, get the app Total Commander and follow these steps, Fire TV low on storage error. From XDA: mbcache.db files is almost 4GB!, Hdd space shrinking fast on my Firetv box
