hi all i just got htc one m8 second hand used... lollipop 5.0.1 was already pre installed . so i did a factory reset charged my phone but i noticed a problem with phone that when i restart my device the phone do not automatically pick network signals i have to turn on the Aeroplane mode and then turn it off then my phone captures signals... i have restarted my times but the same problem occurs every time... what to do??
And one more thing to ask please.... the original htc charger i got with phone which is 1.5A charger is too slow to charge it is saying me that 3.5 hours until full it is charging 1% in 3 minutes so i tried another Samsung 2 A charger and that is much fast its charging 1% in one minute so my question is that can i use 2A charger for my phone? will there be any problems or is it effect battery??
I also got a HTC M8 used and when I connected to the charger it was taking 3+ hrs to charge. However, after reading about charging time problems, I did some power cycles (turn off phone, connect to charger for 10-15min, then press Vol up + Vol down + power button. Keep them pressed for a good 2min. The phone will boot and reboot during that time. Then let it boot normally and let it charge). After I did this, my charging went from 3+ hrs to 1hr 30 min with the same charger (I charged it from 5% to full). Hopefully this will help charging time, if not, try different charger / USB cable.
As for wifi problems, make sure you are running Lollipop firmware for your ROM as this is usually a culprot with WIFI problems. If you are, I would suggest flashing another ROM to see if it fixes.
Update: i solved my first problem by soft re setting it three time that is press and hold power button plus volume up button for almost 30 seconds it restarted 3 times and now everything is fine.. it is capturing signal automatically.... now please tell me about my charging problem.. charging is very slow like 3.4 hours to complete charge... should i use 2A charger??

Sorry, I thought you were having problems with wifi. Glad you got the signal worked out.
As for the battery the power cycles I described (and you seemed to have made) should fixe the problem. Just charge it normally after you do them and by the next charge it should hopefully be faster. It worked for me

Leave it on the main charger for about 5-6 hours if you haven't done that already.

thanks a lot for ur prompt reply dude... ya will try that surely.. but any idea y this is caused? could it be a battery caliberating issue or battery itself gone.. ?
May i answer to this? @karthik_sa2 : I had the same problem about 1 month ago.
This is what happened to me.
I plugged the phone to an ac charger, leaving it on.I think i may have left open some battery hungry apps like a game, and the ac charger could not deliver enough power to the phone. The battery continued to discharge untill 0, but the phone remained on for a reason. After 3-4 minutes, the battery reached a critical level and the phone shut down.
I left the phone plugged to an wall charger for about 1 and a half days. Then i was able to start the phone in bootloader.Happy ending!

No, my led was dead.
After 1,5 days , it charged 3%.At least this is the info the ROM was telling me .
Don't worry about the led, just leave the phone charging for 1-2 days. Then try oppening it on bootloader.

I read this post somewhere and it perfectly worked for me...thanks for all the help again..
"Be paitient, Plug your phone in and give it a minimum of 20 mins charge even though it's flashing.
Unplug the phone and hold both the VOL up and VOL down buttons together for at least 2 mins then release.
Plug the phone back in.. don't worry if it's starts flashing again just be paitent it will I guarantee stop flashing a red led and begin charging to show a constant red led..
By holding thew vol up and vol down buttons you will reset the charging circuit..
The reason your phone has started flashing is because it's gone too far into a discharge...
JUST DON'T PANIC and stay calm.. show a little paitence and all will be well...." :victory:

I had the same problem with my other one x, it was off and charging for 24 hours, when checked it battery level was still on 6%, used it for 2 hours and battery didn't even drain, couldn't flash another rom since bootloader was still locked and battery level was low, I sent it to htc center problem was solved and they said it was a hard fault.

I just developed a charging issue where I have it plugged in and it hasn't advanced in %. It's stuck at around 65%. Official charger/usb cord and tried different outlets.
This never happened on the first firmware build, but only after the second update the last month.
Anyone else experience this?
I've encountered it both in stock and cm11. Run the batterybdown to 10 % and fully charge. Should report properly then.

I'm running the 8.4 original firmware without issue since I bought it several months ago. This week it charges up to a point then stops. Restarting does not help. Different chargers, etc. Arggh!!
This worked for me: (Press and hold: Volume Up + Home + Power (in that order)). Keep holding an unit will reboot. It's not abrasive like a factory reset (like I was considering doing).
Now for the first time in a week, i'm over 50% and its still charging like it should.
Someone else did all the hard lifting to find the solution. I just found the tread over on android central. http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...y-wont-charge-without-reboot.html#post3723135
Cheers.
I haven't upgraded, but I did encounter the same problem earlier this week. It was stuck at 91% even though I left it charging all night. After restarting and plugging it into my laptop for a while, it seemed to work fine again. Now and then it'll just do strange things like this. xD
I'm having same problem, stucks at about 57% 69%. can't find a solution yet. In my case it is happening after software upgrade. does anyone have a solution that helps ? restarting does not seam to be a solution.

Pretty much a known issue on all software builds (maybe a hardware issue?). There is a long thread about this issue in this section. The only consistent solution seems to be to open up the tablet, and disconnect/reconnect the battery. A bit extreme for my taste, so I've just left it alone. Sometimes mine will get stuck at various percentages (for a few charge cycles), sometimes it will charge up to full. Reboots sometimes help, but not always.
II found this and it helped some; including myself... Hope it works for you...

Pro T320
Went from a machine that could discharge completely in a few hours doing general surfing and messing around. (Not gaming or video).Taking all night to charge to 70% and constant reboots to get to 100%.
Took the back off and disconnected the battery as per advice on this thread.
At 97% it now gave me nearly 6 hours video streaming down to 17%. Only took around two hours then to fully charge.
I was a little worried about doing it but it is well worth it.
Tip I found two thinnish guitar picks worked really well to ease the back off.
I never had this problem or as bad as some users but I have notices a few things to keep an eye out for
When you plug your tab into the charger do this
Go to settings - Battery and make sure it says Charging (AC) , on a few very rare occasions I found that sometimes plugging it in it wouldn't switch over to charging (it would still say discharging even though it was pulling current from the charger) and required a reboot I suspect this could mess up battery stats pretty bad, another way to tell is when you plug it in, shut the screen off for a second or two, then press the home button or power button and make sure it says Charging xx% on the unlock screen.
another way to charge is just power it off (power button for 5 seconds, select power off on the popop menu) plug it in and you will see a big battery charging animation, you can regularly check updates by pressing the home key or power key...
Oh and toggle off WIFI (found out wifi can pull an additional 100mA when tablet is in standby), bluetooth(not necessary unless you were using it), and GPS before charging.

Hi All,
Recently I have been having multiple problems related to My LG G Pro E98X Indian Version.
1) Battery sometimes drops suddenly. ex From 92% to 40 % in a second. Replaced battery with New one still issue persisted.
2) Charging was too slow, hence tried a New LG Charger and another Samsung 2.1A charger to charge, Seen some improvement.
3) Now 3 Days Before, After charging it for some time it heated and Few time later, it Shut down. And hence from that day neither it is booting nor it is charging.
4) When i connect the phone to Wall charger or USB Charger , it flashes front White LED continuously. When i Press Volume Up+Down+ power my PC detects it as a USB drive for 1 Second and disconnects.
5) Volume Down + Menu + Power Button or Hard Reset also not working.
Suggest any Solution.
Thank you Very Much in Advance, Hope it will be solved.
Regards
Pratik
I've had my M9 for about 2 weeks now, and notice that the phone doesn't stay fully charged over night.
By that I mean, it will charge to 100%, but then start discharging the battery even while still plugged in. So I'll lose about 13% by time I wake up the next day.
I'm using a charger that comes with a xperia z* phone.
Any ideas? Could be a software problem?

13% on stand by, there is something wrong. try factory reset
The Xperia Z charger is possibly rated a little low, i'd check that just to improve your charging, aside from that you've got something draining quickly for that to happen, rogue app maybe.

To protect the battery, once the device hits 100%, it will not recharge until it goes down a bit. Mine usually reports 99 or 98% the next morning, but I plug it in by 2100 the night before.
You have something running on your phone that is using the battery. Try turning off all sync overnight. You are going to have to chase down the cause.
But, what I think people have misunderstood is that, the phone is plugged in all night while I'm asleep. So let's say I have an 8 hour sleep, the phone will get to full in about 2 hours, and then the next 6 hours its still plugged in and discharging. Shouldn't the battery stay at near full while its plugged in. Not act likes its on battery power.
Even if it is hitting 100% and stops charging like you say, it should not go from 100% to 13% just sitting there on standby in 6 hours. That is way too much battery to discharge when the phone is essentially doing nothing. There is something wrong there.
I would start off by trying a different charger, or charge it from a PC overnight and see if that makes a difference.
My devices never discharges when it reaches 100%

This happens due to some application malfunction. so you can “WIPE CACHE PARTITION” on your device, Don’t worry it doesn’t erase any of your data. All your personal contacts/ messages/ emails safe and secure.
How To:
Turn Off your HTC M9
Press and Hold Vol Down, Press Power Button until you get bootloader
Select Boot to Recovery Mode (Press Vol Down button to scroll and press Power button to select)
Choose WIPE CACHE PARTITION
All Done

even 13% is waaaaaaaaay to much
So after the cache wipe, and using my anker charger, the phone stayed at 100% overnight, did not discharge more the 5%, so it's looking good. Will need to check over multiple days.
Seems like the problems have been solved. Either the cache wipe or the change of charger has solved it.
I was having the same issue with the battery for the htc one m9 discharching after charging to 100%. I resolved this with a little help from HTC which they were pretty good about helping me. I cleared cache and even did safe mode. So in the end I was using the original charger but had changed the cable to a longer one which gave me more room to move around with the phone but unfortunately that seemed to be the issue. I reverted back to the original cable with the original charger and now the battery charges to 100% and stays there. Just wanted to post my findings in case this could help someone down the line.
The device will ask for the htc charger when low power is detected. Original power plug and a decent quality usb cable are required. I use htc and samsung cables.

Power off the device.
Hold vol- and press power (keep hold of vol-).
You might find cache wipe in the fastboot option..

I have same issue, original charger. Will drop to like 95%. Sometimes won't go to 100/green light sometimes either. Already wiped cache. Maybe it stops charging when it gets too hot ?
Make sure you are using original charger and cable. You can also boy the phone into safe mode to see if a program is calling the issue by turning off device and then turn on. Once you see HTC hold the volume down button until the device starts up. You should see safe mode in the bottom left.

Hi all. I have an untampered (stock) with phone that was working well until this week. Nothing happened in particular that I can think of to make it stop working properly, except perhaps the battery fully drained itself.
I have charged the phone for some hours now... although I don't see the charging light, every now and again, a picture of a battery appears on the screen and displays 1%, 6%, etc.
Hitting the power button only brings up the HTC welcome splash screen, and a few seconds later, it goes blank. I can hold the power button + vol down to enter Hboot, but then when I use the power button to select either recovery or factory reset, it simply displays the same HTC welcome splash screen and then goes blank again.
Perhaps the charger is faulty? Shouldn't the phone boot with 6% battery (although I suspect it has charged up further than that, 6% is the last number I saw)?
According to what you say . The phone gone into a deep discharge and battery logic is failing .
Have you tried to reset the charging logic of the device, first you must charge your M8 for a minimum of 10 minutes using a wall charger. Now With the power off from the switch ,press and hold the volume up and down button ( both volume button ) with the power button for approximately 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, release all of the buttons. After the release the charging logic should be reset. Then charge your phone to 100% using your wall charger. If this doesn't work then its probably a failing battery or charge port.

I suspect you are right; perhaps there is something different between from the 110v in USA vs 220v in Norway, but the charge seems much slower in Norway. Perhaps the cable is faulty, or the charging block.
Try using a different wall charger.
Or perhaps a powerful charger to get it a kick start for a short time . And than the normal charger.
But before all this try to reset battery logic . That has worked

Input voltage (mains voltage to the charger) is irrelevant. The output voltage is indicated on the charger (probably 5v). If the phone took 110v or 220v it would probably blow up! The charger brick is essentially a small electrical transformer, which only outputs what the phone will take. You will see on the charger, it will take a range of input voltages (probably 110-240v).
I'm confused why you say it charges much slower in Norway? Did you charge it somewhere else previously?
If you have any reason to think the charger or cable is faulty, I would definitely try another charger and cable.
