Update OTA , help needed ! ! !

Can i update the OTA on a rooted Evo through Rom manager ?
I'm using the stock Rom Froyo 2.2
Should I update ? Do I need to update ?

If you want to update, download a rooted stock rom and flash. If you already have a stock rooted 2.2, it isn't necessary to flash the new 3.70 release....the new release is just a sprint maintenance upgrade...you really wont see any new functionality.

[Q] Help needed to get OTA 2.3.4

Purchased a used G2 on ebay - phone was rooted and I believe CM7 installed - clockworkmod came up and I tried to install a custom rom and was only getting white HTC screen.
At this point I really just want the latest official gingerbread 2.3.4 on the phone (even if it means getting an original stock rom then getting the OTA update thru t-mobile). I don't care if its rooted or not. (Picture of HBOOT screen attached below)
What is the easiest and fastest way to do this from what I have on my phone at this point? If I just factory reset from this menu will I still have to get a stock a rom and put it on my sdcard?
Just flash the rooted version from the dev thread dude

Either that or if you don't care about root, flash pc10img of ota gb.

Yeah but you will lose root.

Yes you can, only if you have not uninstalled anything after rooting since all the stock apps (bloatware) needs to be on the phone when using ota updates.
Just wait for a rooted version of the rom to come out

Forgot to mention you will not loose root either when doing an ota. Since the whole point of ota updating is to keep root while updating
If you have an unlocked bootloader you can root easily. The only way for people with a locked bootloader to update and keep root is ota updating.

I had an evo 4g rooted and when the gingerbread update rolled out I lost all root completely and was unable to root. When I got my nexus is when root was available for gingerbread evo

Did you do your gingerbread update with ota? If i flashed 2.3.3 or 4.0.a (instead of ota) then gingerbreak would not work since it was patched but using ota allows us with the xperia play on a locked bootloader keep root should be the same for all using gingerbread? Maybe not?
I started on 2.3.2 rooted. Used ota to get to 2.3.3 and root was still kept. I have just updated today using ota to the newest update and i still have root.

Hmm idk then because it was a huge issue for evo owners if you look at threads that we who did the ota lost root. and the exploit took 3 months to figure out

This isnt the evo, its not even a HTC device. There are so many diffrences between the 2 companies. For example if we OTA update with unlocked bootloaders. We brick our phones. I had s-off on my hero, desire and DHD and didnt have any problem OTA updating.

Question about jelly bean

I've got a tmobile branded phone so my fid starts something like tmobxxx... And I know I can't root and flash jb as of yet.
What do I have to wait for for me to be able to flash it?

If everything is still stock, ie no custom ROM or recovery, you should get prompted for an OTA update when it is available for your CID.

Im talking about when will it be able to be flashed as a custom rom via root
for that you need to update your hboot, since your cid is not supported you may have to wait till your carrier released the JB OTA.
I also believe that you can install a AOSP ROM of jellybean, that being said you will not be able to flash a sense rom until your carrier pushes out the OTA.
