You need to be rooted and give /system RW permissions. I use ES Explorer. Check about 1 minute into this video.

If you're not rooted, before you root make sure you READ all the guides. It's not hard but easy to have problems, especially if you have a chinese zenfone 2 with WW firmware on it...

Im still having a good battery back up..ill just have to wait for custom Rom before I root. Yup i have ww version original on 550ml version

Motorola Defy Stock Froyo GPS Mod for India

Hi guys from India...
The GPS of India ROM 3.4.3-36-1.7 for India has no gps.conf file in /system/etc
Hence I have come across this mod which is excellent and adds that file and it 100% increases the GPS applications and works smooth !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953630
Then click on "XDA Members Click Here" for Version 1.2 download of Asia(India)
Do we just add the gps.conf file to system/etc or also the META-INF folder included in the Asia.V1.2 zip?
if you are coping the file manually, just replace it after making a backup of the original, or just edit it to add the indian NTP pool.
Originally the .zip is meant to be accessed via CWR boot menu.
desihu is right.... in Indian Froyo official release, the gps.conf is missing , hence all gps related apps like maps and camera are slow in responding. Add that file and you will feel the difference.
Actually all you need to do is add the servers for India in gps.conf : http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/in
but to add that you need to root your mobile and rooting voids warranty... is there anyway to officially add that line?

How on earth do you intend to access the system/etc folder on your device w/o rooting?
only if motorola releases a patch via OTA
Root the phone, apply the patch. unroot the phone

Motorola has already formally announced they wont even 'lift a finger' for Defy(MB525) which means no patches, no improvements, nothing. Period. Its all up to the dev community now.

I know that option.. have already done it !! but officially motorola does not want to do that inspite of such a big mistake...
does other country stock roms have such blunders of no gps.conf file in /system/etc ?
Edit : Other country like UK blur , CEE 2.2.2 also gps.conf is missing
is Asia zip flashable via 2ndinit ?
m on cm 7 right now...since few months it could catch gps only once...till now...
Can i just install zip as we do to install cm7 ?
yes... you can...
if fact if you are in India... just extract the zip file of Asia and edit the gps.conf and move the india server on the first line ... save file and copy it in /system/etc folder... using Super Manager... no need to use recovery install.
reboot to take advantage of it !!
Thanx a alot buddy post screenshots of ur rom if u can

It was happeneing continuosly...so i flashed CM7 again whithout installing its going as good as before...

[SHARE] MP4 Bootanimation for non stock rom

Restore the ability to play mp4 bootanimation from stock motorola ROM
Remove the .txt from file in attachments and put the file in system/bin and replace the original one
Don't forget to make a backup in case anything goes wrong
After that you'll be able to use the mp4 bootanimation.zip from stock rom
I've tried this in many roms from different devices and everything works fine

Where can i find some boot animations ? video
i want a Ring with an M inside Growing
yeay, it work on PA 4.44 . thanks man
I finally got this to work....
I have the Boostmobile CDMA XT1031 variant and I am running Stock 4.4.4.+Xposed.
I had to manually set the permissions of that bootanimation file of yours to: rwxr-xr-x.
All that work to get the Android L boot animation to work on stock!
Didn't worked for me at first try then I did this:
1) Change the permissions of the bootanimation file that you pasted in system/bin (change it to -rwxr-xr-x)
2) Change the permissions of bootanimation.zip that you pasted in system/media and change the permission as you changed it for above file.
3) Reboot and enjoy!
Very nice!! :good:
I will make a flasheable zip to it easy!
Please port it to CM12
I'm using your script since i bought my phone, Its awesome
But in latest CM12 its not working anymore
I port a working version to LOLLIPOP roms like CM12

It worked on my Boost Mobile moto g (xt1031). At first I had problems but then I realized that I forgot to change permissions ?. Here is the install method: (I don't know much about the features when you post so I guess you'll have to share this reply somehow for those that have problems and could have some help)
1. Backup "bootanimation" located in system/bin (I just make a folder in my Downloads calling it backup______ and place it in there)
2. Rename attachment from "bootanimation.txt" to "bootanimation" Copy and paste the "bootanimation" into system/bin (yes you replace it (or overwrite whatever ot says).
3. Change file's permissions to rwxr-xr-x
4. There is no "4" you're done. However, if you have a theme loaded in your rom I think you're going to have to update the boot animation back to stock in your theme settings.
Restoring:
1. Rename backup to "bootanimation" and paste to system/bin.
2. Change permissions to rwxr-xr-x
If you need help i'll try to help based on what I know

I didn't have space on system partition either because after LP is installed, system partition goes full with only 2-3 MBs left. I simply converted some system apps like Chrome, Hangouts, Maps to user apps and linked them to the SD card. This freed up about a 100Mb is space on system partition. And there you go--
...thanks for the tip. What I did was change the config file of the PA Gapps I'm using and remove a few apps. I was finally able to copy the bootanimation

[BOOT ANIMATION] [ROOT] [SHARE] Marvel DC Boot animation.

Hi all,
I was looking for some cool bootanimations for my redmi and came across this a few weeks back.
I dont remember where i found it but it looked damn cool, when I decompressed it i saw it was in 1080p so I just downsized it to hd(720*1280).
Again, this is not my work, I just downsized and shared it. Credits go to respective developers. (Could not find the real Dev :crying
Prerequisites:
1. Rooted phone.
2. Very little knowledge of system partitions.
3. 15mb free space in system partition.
Installation method:
1. Download file from from the attachment.
2. Delete existing "bootanimation.zip" from /system/media/ using any root enabled file explorer. (I use es file explorer).
3. Copy "marvel-dc bootanimation.zip" to /system/media/ and rename it to "bootanimation.zip".
4. Change the permissions to -rw-r--r--
5. If you are using CM themes then keep the bootanimations field to system default.
6. Enjoy

Two points you forgot to mention.
- Change the permissions to -rw-r--r--
- if you have a theme installed, you need to select system boot animation before it will come into effect or else the theme boot animation will keep playing.
Amazing animation though!
Cheers!

Advanced Power Menu Mod Reboot into Twrp/Bootloader

Hi Mixer´s
I made a Rom myself through the Rom Builder, there you can create an extended power menu with Reboot in Bootloader,Reboot in TWRP or Reboot.
There are two files you have to replace, however, the Phone must be rooted.
Download the zip file from Attachment and unpack it.
Use a Rootexplorer or Es Filemanager.
Go to the Folder:system/framework and Search the services.jar file.Make a Backup on PC,Internal Memory or rename it to services.jar.bak.
Copy the services.jar file from the downloaded extracted zip file in the same Folder and give Permission to rw-r-r-
Go to folder system/media/theme/default and search the file powermenu and Make a Backup or rename it to powermenu.bak.
Copy the powermenu file from the unpacked zip file in this Folder and give Permission to rw-r-r-
Reboot the Phone and you have a Advanced Powermenu to boot direkt in Twrp or in Bootloader
Whether it works with other Rom I do not know.
Make a Nandroid Backup before you make this Mod!!!
Works on xiaomi.eu 7.11.2 Beta and xiaomi.eu 7.11.9 Beta Rom Versions
Add the Original Files from 7.11.2 Beta Rom in Attachment
