Hi guys,
I'm not sure exactly where to look for the steps because I'm in a unique situation or atleast I think I am. I need help on installing the LOLLIPOP firmware (N900TUVUFOB6) with a custom recovery and root. I am currently on a rooted note 3 v4.3 with the N900TUVUBMI7 baseband version.do I need to update my bootloader to a newer version? Should I atleast do a stock update to 4.4? Should I be using which custom recovery?
If I'm correct, I can't just flash the latest custom recovery and then flash the newest lollipop (for example the newest TEKHD like this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393
Or can I? What If I just did a normal software update to upgrade me to lollipop, will the bootloader be blocked, disabling me from installing a custom recovery since I would want to root as well. And then would I be able to resume the steps from TEKHD instruction?
Thanks!

If you want to flash the full firmware, then download it from sammobile.com and flash it using Odin.
Then you can install custom recovery with Odin.
Be aware that if you flash the full firmware package, it has a new bootloader that doesn't play nice with custom recoveries. If you use any software method to boot into your custom recovery, you will get stuck in recovery and must flash stock recovery to be able to boot the OS. You can use a custom recovery only if you POWER OFF; then use the 3-button method to boot into your custom recovery.
Hey guys ive gitten up to the point now where im rooted running cwms latest touch recovery. I need to upgrade my bootloader in order to flash any 4.3+ roms. Can someone help me with this process. Can I just flash the latest bootloader or can I flash a rooted 4.3 rom and flash the new bootloader after? Kinda stuck at the moment with the stock rooted 4.1.2 rom running latest cwm touch recovery.

I posted a link to help you in your other post
The link you posted leads to a rom thread. Is there something specific in there I should be looking for. The one you lead me to talks of downgrading not upgrading
Hello guys, i was wondering since I've made the 5.0 update (european) if it was possible for me to flash a custom rom like cyanogen without root (because root isn't an option since llp) ?

After flashing a ROM, flash SuperSu 2.4 to get root.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
But how do I flash without root ?
It's noobish question, i can't get to recovery, I've tried with the Power and vol down keys, all i can get is a menu to erase my data, thats it.
Firsh backup your data. Then go back to EU stock ROM:
here are the stock ROMs: http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+G3%2FStock%2F
how to go back to your stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
Now you can root your LG G3, use TWRP/CWM custom recovery and flash custom ROM.
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-2-8-2-0-t2966129
Thank you, I hoped there was another way, i will downgrade then, thanks.
maybe there is. Im not pro neither I received OTA for 5.0, but I wanted to have my LG rooted, so I had to downgrade and now I am running AN HD.
Stock Recovery
Dear friends,
I have an HTC one M8
Android-5.0.1
Network Provider- Three Republic of Ireland
Bootloader status- Unlocked
S-ON
CID-H3G__001
I am trying to do an OTA-4.25.771.6
I was on TWRP Custom Recovery
I tried to reflash to stock recovery to do the OTA and unsuccessfully tried the below mentioned Stock recoveries from XDA developers.
stock+recovery+1.54.771.5+recovery.img
and
stock+recovery+1.12.771+recovery.img
I see a Red triangle with an exclamation mark when I try to run the Stock Recovery.
Can anybody suggest any solutions
Many Thanks

Those recoveries are way too old to work, it needs to match your current firmware (hboot, etc.), which sounds like Lollipop Android 5.0 (those are Kitkat Android 4.4.2 recoveries).
I assume you have the stock Lollipop ROM? Since you need the stock ROM (in addition to stock recovery) to OTA. And trying to install the recent Stagefright OTA?

You need to install 4.20.771.2 stock recovery or the one that from OTA 4.25.771.6.
And make sure you have a non-rooted stock 4.20.771.2 ROM running on your device

Dear CKP5
Many thanks for the reply.
Do I need to unroot my Device which is already on Stock Rom to do an OTA.I have'nt messed with any default apps that came with the device. I am already receiving the notifications to do an OTA on the device.
I could'nt find the stock recovery. Can you please give me a link to the same.
Regards
Definitely you need a non-rooted stock ROM.
If you unroot your ROM, most likely it won't work either as the root itself change some files.
Restore the system part only from a non-rooted backup to avoid problem. You can keep your data.
Install stock recovery then do OTA
Check link in my signature for all files that you need.
And FYI .. this OTA will upgrade your system to 5.0.2 but unfortunately the stagefright fix only fix 6/7 vulnerabilities
The title almost says it all.
I am on a custom 4.4.2 ROM (using ND1 firmware) and want to look into upgrading to 5.1.1 or higher. Obviously rooted with TWRP recovery.
I know I'll need to upgrade my TWRP from 2.6.0.3 or whatever it is on right now to 3 or better - but I need to know if I will have to flash official stock 5.1 to upgrade to the newest firmware, if there is a newest firmware, to get the install clean with minimal errors or can I just flash a custom TW ROM and hope that upgrades the firmware, if there is new firmware, or is there a thread I can be directed to so I can read up on what I need to do to upgrade?
Or since I am already rooted with TWRP, can I just upgrade or flash my twrp to a known good version and flash a rom then be on my way?
Thanks in advance!
Dear Friend , It's all clear that if if you want to install any TW Lollipop ROMs, you need to first install a Lollipop firmware ( Using Odin ) to install a Lollipop bootloader ( do not even think of ticking the update bootloader in Odin because then you wouldn't be able to revert into KK firmware and then you can't run any KK ROM on Lollipop bootloader ) and then install a TWRP ( I recommend ShevT's one which is less glitchie and faster than the official ones because of the F2FS support !! ) and then you're free to go the way you like
... Hope it helps ... With Best Wishes - Hitman1376
