Has anyone tried or had any success recording video with a USB microphone? I was under the impression that android is supposed to support USB mics. The weird thing is that the mic works with straight audio apps, but the mic doesn't work while trying to record video using the native video recorder. Any thoughts or suggestions?
try with different phone
has anyone tried using a usb mic with another phone besides the note 3? OR does anyone know of a particular ROM that would support the usb mic?

I bought a Samson Meteor microphone to record some class lectures. I used SGSII 4-IN-1 connection kit to hook it up. I was able to record with it but the quality was quite low but on my Ubuntu box using Audacity it sounded great. Does anyone know if there is some way to connect an external mic and get good sound? The native voice recorder app on the S3 used the usb mic without a hitch. I installed another app that lets you select a mic but it only recognizes the built ins. Has anyone else tried the external mic thing?
I was experiencing problems with my phone not getting enough charge this whole week i would leave it on the charger all night and wake up and my phone would be at the same percentage. Anyways I took it to a phone repaid shop today to change out the charging port and now my charging problems are fixed but then I called my friend and he could not hear me at all.
Is it possible that the repairman damaged the microphone while changing the port? I've read in other posts where people buy charging ports and a mic was included. Just wanted to clarify if the mic is connected to the charging port. My phone was working fine prior to the fix. I'm also on aokp Jb 5. I did a clean install right after but that did not work.
UPDATE: Just did a few tests and i can confirm that my mic does work on speakerphone. Without speakerphone it doesnt work and i tried to record a video and the video had NO AUDIO.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Whether or not, I would take it back because it was working before they touched it

Getting a new daughter board fixed the problem for me
My N7 is being used as a car headunit. I'm having a usb audio issue with multiple devices. With an OTG y cable, I am running an easycap and a UCA 202 w/an amped mic into the inputs. Everything works fine before the easycap is powered. When I swtich intro reverse, video shows up fine. When I shift out of reverse and the easycap powers off, all audio will only play from the internal speakers and I get "Can't open microphone". I have to either reset or dis/reconnect the otg y cable to fix the problem.
I am able to preserve usb audio out if I use the "easycap viewer" app but I cannot get the mic to work at all with the easycap unpowered after the first connection. Mic and audio work fine up until the easycap is powered on for the first time. Interestingly, the Mic will only work when I am in reverse. I figured this out while parked and testing--not really reasonable to shift into reverse on the highway to make a voice command .
Is there a flashable fix? An app? Any workaround?
Appreciate the help. Thanks.
Rom: Stock (LMY48X)
Kernel: Timurs v3 final (I have reached out to the developer and he said that his kernel does not modify the stock android handling of usb audio since it was built into lollipop)
I accidentally discovered strange thing while recording the sound via external microphone (the headset that came with the kit) in default recording app and camera app (maybe in other apps too).
That's what it's all about: when i plug the heaset 3.5mm jack in, the message pop up: "External microphone will be used to record audio". Ok. But! The sound can aсtually recording from extenral mic only if you immediately start talking in it, otherwise it will be recording only from internal mic! Is it a bug or feature?
P.S. And the second question, maybe it stupid:
I tried to record sound from Nintendo switch to Galaxy S9 by connecting them via 3.5mm cable (male-male), the sound did not recorded Now i know it was useless, but is safe for both gadgets to connect their 3.5 ports?

Has anyone tried this?
I'm trying to record audio straight from a source like a vinyl player or a pocket operator. Would anyone know how I would be able to do this.
As the port is used for ear buds and you can speak on teh phone through the buds and be heard the functionality of audio capture is there.
I record my phone calls and use the mic on my buds to capture my voice.
Stands to reason that any other mic you can connect via the port should be able to work as well.
You will probably just need to make sure whatever adapter you use is compatible.
Not all usb C-audio jack dongles work.
DAC is the tech that has to exist if memory serves.
