Hey guys,
I've been having problems connecting my DAC's to my Z1 Compact after the Lollipop update. I've tried various distributions for it, including HK, Bulgaria and Russia: none of them had a functional USB audio output. What's worse, USB Audio Player Pro doesn't work any more on it, giving me a 'Android cannot detect the USB audio, but the kernel can' message.
Also of note is that USB OTG works fine, and USB audio worked fine in KitKat, so it's not a hardware problem. Any solutions?

Hi i saw your problem in another thread, now i see it doesnt helped much, but you can go to developer options and on media see you have NuPlayer or Awesome player, down you have Disable USB audio routing, if you didnt try to play with this settings try them, and USB settings at general, sorry for giving you not exactly precise info but if this doesnt work, you can always email xperia care, they response in one day normally.

Yep, first thing I tried actually. Neither option worked unfortunately.
Gonna try and email their support, see what's up. It's not a huge problem now, more of a curiosity thing now.

recently got the LCI E60 5 series 2009 with usb interface. given the model, fairly confident it is running latest software although if someone can suggest how best i can check, feel free.
I can pair my rooted desire with the car's bluetooth and make/receive calls without issues. I answer and hang up using the steering wheel buttons.
however I see issue with transferring contacts - says "transfer in progress" but it isnt doing anything really (waited more than an hour).
Have read threads that suggested the bluetooth doesnt work well if connected via usb - so tried that to no avail.
the other issue is connection via usb on its own. the device is not recognised by i-drive, whereas a random usb stick with mp3 is.
starting to suspect rooted device might be the problem however cant verify as i dont have a stock desire.
any advice here?
have you tried enabling USB debugging?....
I realised I wasn't being very clear....go to Settings > Applications > Development & check USB debbuging. After that, try syncing with the i-drive via USB port.
I've searched around to different forums and haven't really gotten a clear answer for this. I used to be able to play my music from my iphone simply by connecting it to my usb plug in my car. the sgs3 doesn't do that. I've read it is because it uses mtp instead of ums for data transfer now because there are no partitions in the drive. Supposedly there is a way to use ums by an app that was created for the i9300, but I have the US sprint model and I wonder if that would work on my phone. Plus I would like to know if I use this app, will it even solve my problem? Will I be able to listen to my tunes in my car without connecting the audio aux plug?
Thanks in advance,

I would like to know this too, My car radio doesn't have bluetooth support, so it's not an option for me and it doesn't work when I plug the phone in. This is the only thing keeping me from getting rid of my iPod!
I'm curious about this too. I just bought a Sony for its Sirius capabilities and it has Pandora support but I would like to listen to my phone's MP3 catalog too.
sent through the third galaxy
I just replaced my car stereo thinking I could use the USB in, I couldn't get it to work by default.
I'm left with using the aux in, which is nothing more than a stop gap solution.
Hoping that I can get it to work with usb too
Edit :
I forgot to try system >accessories >usb audio
I'll try when I get out of work.
2nd edit :
Didn't work
Sort of the same issue, compounded.
I have a 2012 volt and an S3/I9300 international version. I can't get it to play audio in my car for love or money. No roms, just stock...but bluetooth and auxiliary fails. Bluetooth says it doesn't recognize it, auxiliary jack says everything is hooked up but I get no sound.
I also have a bluetooth soundbar in my home; the phone connects fine but the sound comes through the phone still rather than the speakers. I feel like I'm missing something pretty basic here. Any help/guidance would be much appreciated. If there is an app that will fix this I'm totally game. Also anything to get rid of the samsun apps login that is constantly annoying me, or the German news sides that are preinstalled.
I'm a wreck lol. Love the phone otherwise though (other than ATT delivering my text messages roughly 72 hours after they were sent...all at once, from 3 to 6 am, like clockwork. I switched to t-mobile).
Wrong section dude, you want the international forums, this one is for the sprint variant only
I would suggest searching for usb input on the stereo and making sure its selected as the playback device. My ford fusion has bluetooth and usb but when i use usb i have to select it on the stereo to actually play music from my phone. Hope this helps...:good:
Hey guys,
I just bought a Pioneer stereo system that supports Android MTP and it claims that it can read Android devices with version 4.0 and higher that use MTP.
But for the life of it, I cannot seem to get it to detect my m8.
I'm not sure if it's the phone? or the player... i've got a hunch its the phone... but who knows..
I've tried using drive droid to set the usb settings but nothing has worked so far...
This is the model of stereo I've bought: http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/products/DEH-X2650UI/print.html
I know i can just use the AUX cable but i just wanna try this MTP thing out...
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Support for various devices (like car stereos) for things like Bluetooth and USB has always been a bit iffy. It would not be surprising to see MTP support to similarly have patchy compatibility.
Unfortunately, such issues can also be difficult to resolve, or even troubleshoot.
So Ive run into a strange problem. I was watching a movie last night on my nexus, the file was on my usb drive connected via otg to the nexus. Today I try to do the same and I get no reaction from Stickmount when plugging in the drive. I have no problems charging or connecting the tablet to my PC, and the drive works fine both connecting to the PC and to my smartphone with stickmount as well. I also tried DLing an app called OTG Troubleshooter to see if that would help me. When connecting the drive it tells me that OTG is detected, but that "Mass storage USB device is not detected in linux/android". Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks in advance
Nexus Media Importer
I had a similar problem with the device not recognizing the OTG cable, it went away after I installed the Nexus Media Importer.

I have the same problem and have just tested that connecting a mouse or keyboard to the otg works without problems, what doesnt work is a flash drive. ( I have tried different flash drives to no success)
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I uninstalled and then reinstalled it again and now it is working again. I think it might have been slow to update
Maybe you guys are using a Kernel with OTG+Charge option? if yes the problem maybe that you have to connect the AC charger and USB device together. If you don't need the OTG+charge you should deactivate that function.
Hi, I kept my old Xperia Z3 and installed official LOS 16 on it and it works perfectly.
The idea was to to use it as a Android TV device/box with MHL adapter, as its powerful enough.
For the most part, it works fine except the sound.
No matter what App I use: built in, vlc, mx player the sound is always stereo.
I have tried audio passthrough and without, various app audio settings and in development settings.
Trawling through the internet and XDA through hundreds of threads and many many forums, it seems this problem has been around for years!
Many different phones with stock roms and custom, same problems that seems to be never solved with MHL protocol still being implemented into newer phones!!
The MHL spec states up to 8 channels uncompressed so this problem seems crazy.
Does anyone have a clue, has it finally been resolved?
Any apps or anything in LOS that can be enabled to check if surround signals are being sent or enable it
Its so frustrating!
Thanks
