How to repair system partitions - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi everyone, after trying to repair my phone without results (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p6/help/flash-wipe-restore-t3096086) the conclusion is: 1 my emmc internal storage is broken/damaged or 2 my system partition is corrupted (because i can't write or flash anything via root explores, via twrp and via fastboot). I hope the second option. How can i repair the corrupted partitions? thank's everybody, and sorry for bad english

Can someone answer this question so i can fix my old tablet, i completely destroyed my /system
Partition and i need to know if i will still be able to use recovery mode and if a factory reset will fix it or if i have to delete it and put a new one on from a backup of it on my flash drive.
I had root but the app for that was on the system partition so i might not have root anymore until it is fixed.
Tablet is a ematic egm 002 (old)

[Q] Restart during nandroid backup

Hi to all,
i have a problem.
During the backup from cwm recovery 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru' my phone restart every time. So the process fail and i'm unable to finish the backup.
I'm using a custom rom "Revolution HD 5.0".
Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Sartan
I have the same issue with revolution 5.1.1
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Hello,
same issue on my phone. Are there any solutions?
Guys, i fixed the problem.
You have to:
- Save all application with astro/titanium
- Save all the datas from sd card into your computer
- Format the 2 giga internal data partition from your phone
- Format the biggest partition (about 24 giga) from your phone.
- Reboot your phone
- install all your app
- restore data
- NANDROID
For me it worked
I had this problem as well.
The problem is (best guess) kernel oops when accessing certain files on the partition.
In my case, it was one of the files in /data/lost+found/... - whenever it was stat()ed or read the phone would reboot.
Let's hope we're not having a defective flash blocks but just a b0rked filesystem.
The worst part is, that without USB debug in recovery, it can't be repaired, because it can't be unmounted once booted. So there's no hope of ever recovering it without full wipe :/
And in this case, it can't be backed up because recovery doesn't allow selective backup of folders on a partition, and it doesn't just dump the partition image for some reason but tried to reas the files - which reboots the phone.
It probably could be solved by chefs in ROMs or by recovery developers by providing an option to run fsck on the filesystem before it is mounted.

So the problem can be solved only by wiping right?
For me it wasn't a problem, i wiped and then i backup the rom.

[Q] emmc partion fix ......maybe?

I was doing some research on the emmc partion s on the g2 and desire z seems that some issues with the sd card not showing up and the usb bricks have a part in the emmc partion fies being corrupt if yu can still boot up into your phone while being s-on and un rooted or s-on and temp rooted with a factory recovery. Witch is my case...lol but I came a cross this tool that supports are emmc and cpu. At this site but I'm not to sure how to use it but supposidly it can copy or creat a new emmc partion if you have the correct files and flash them to correct your corupped emmc partions if you haven't completey fried it that is. But here's the link check it out and let me know what you think http://faq.riffbox.org/index.php?action=artikel&cat=10&id=53&artlang=en. And sorry if this has been posted/found be for but here it is if any body knows how to use it let me kno. As I want to give it a try to fix my sdcard brick...
This plugin may be useful, if somebody totally broken eMMC partition map (if it is possible) or if the device has a corruped HBOOT or radio and it is totally bricked (fails even start to boot).
If you device boots and you are not advanced hardware hacker, it is nothing for you.
The plugin is intended for JTAG manager. If you think you broken something mentioned above, then buy JTAG programmer hardware, disassemble your phone, connect JTAG cable and fix it.
Note: Repartitioning eMMC is a dangerous operation! Some operations are once-per-lifetime! And you will not be able to flash any of standard images.
Yes that is very true but if you read it very carfully it says you can use a jtag but it is also compatible for using it via usb cable....put I think there's apart of my emmc partion that is corrupted. But not really sure my phone boots up fine just I have access to my sdcard or access to my sdcard via usb to computer but I have access through adb and fastboot ...so not really sure if the emmc partion has any thing to. Do with how the phone mounts or reads the sdcard....but I had in my other post that wen I was on froyo in my storage settings I didn't have any access to select the mount sdcard or erase sdcard option but after I did the ota to ginger bread wich was a dumb idea to do but I was thinking it would fix that problem witch it kinda did as in my storage setting I can now select the erase sdcard option but the option to mount the sdcard is still greyed out unselectable....so I think it has a corrupted partion somwere if the emmc controls these settings
OK, they mention USB as well.
However I think, that your problem is not eMMC partitioning, but data in your partitions: bad system, kernel or so. If you want, you can probably flash using this utility. But if your system is not totally bricked, you can flash comfortably with standard tools - adb, bootloader, recovery.
Yea I thought so but I don't really know what I would need to flash to fix it unless its the misc.img or mtd0.img I have tryed and every time I do I get a failed error unless I try to just copy them to the proc directory and rewrite. Over the old ones yu think that mite help then just reboot the phone after I use adb to push to that directory so it would be like adb push misc to proc/misc/ then adb push mtd0.img /proc/mtd0
Also wen I go to rcovery through hboot select recovery hold vol up +power I get this error e:can't mount/ cache/command

Maybe you have corrupted cache partition. If you have a working system, please try Factory reset from the Android system menu.
Yea IV Trudy that its a no go...maybe it is a corrupted partion ....misc or mtd0 culd be any thing. Butvmy guess is what ever partion that controls the way the system scans. And controls the sdcard and usb storage controller is f3$k up....

[Q] Need help attempting to recover data from my GN :(

Phone:
GN Toro (Verizon)
no OS currently installed!
TWRP 2.3.3 (I know, needs to be updated)
Skip to the bold text for the TLDR version.
So here's the story... I was going to flash the latest AOKP and decided that this time I would do things right! In the past I had almost always dirty flashed, but this time I was going to start clean and only restore data for a handful of apps. So I booted into TWRP and wiped cache, dalvik cache, system, and ..........internal storage! I went to flash the ROM I had downloaded and that's when I learned that I had made a huge mistake :crying:
So I've been doing a TON of reading; I think I've found a solution to my problem in this thread.
I know I can either use ADB push to reload the ROM or use ODIN mode to reflash (although I was unable to get ODIN to see my phone). My concern is that if I'm going to have any chance recovering my files, I need to avoid writing to /sdcard at all costs.
So here's my question, is there a way to get a binary dump of /sdcard aka /media/data without first installing android? I need to be able to do so from TWRP or fastboot. I have the GN toolkit but I don't see any way of doing this. I also have all the drivers installed and working (or so it seems) and ADB installed.
Sorry I misread. I'm not sure how you can recover from that.
I think you should be able to adb push a ROM to it. Flash it and it won't touch the contents of the SD card.

Actually, this is exactly what I did. The new ROM wrote a directory structure and various files to /sdcard, hopefully none of those writes overwrote the data I'm trying to recover...
16GB thumb drive and USB OTG cable. Boot into recovery and use dd to dump the user data partition to the thumb drive.
Probably too late for that, since you've already written files to the partition.

Ya know, I have a huge thumb drive and a USB-OTG adapter, I never even thought of this! Thanks, if I ever need to do this again I will try that.
I was able to recover most if not all of my pics (the only thing I cared about losing) using this guide I linked above.
Glad that method worked. It's kind of scary with GN having a single data partition and no ext sd. Coming from a device with separate /data and /sdcard partitions plus and ext sd, I miss being able to back things up onto the card.

The same happened to me once. Just go to twrp recovery >wipe>advanced wipe>select internal storage>repair partition>change file system>ext4 .
Do the file change for every single partition there (not every partition will get file system changed)
And done .. Now flash a rom and you are good to go. (Also dont mess with ext sdcard)
Press thanks if helped

Nope mine is confirmed dead by a technician and the people on XDA that my motherboard is broken so it reads 0mb and needs replacement, anyway i had moved on to Note 4 and huawei p9 plus now, fixing the note 2 is just not worth it.
