So, I accidentally flashed wrong zip on my tab pro.

I was on CM12 and DAMN I didn't have nandroid backup. Is there anything I can do to not lose my files?

Put a known good ROM on a removable SD card using your computer and a card reader. Than insert in the device and flash in TWRP.
Not sure what you mean by losing your files. Are you talking about user data; or files on internal storage? Files on internal storage shouldn't be affected by flashing ROMs.
But if the files are important to you, you should be backing them up, anyway. Especially when ROM flashing. But even if not flashings ROMs; no data is immune from loss and should be backed up.

[Q] Please help I been stuck in clockwork screen for hours

I originally reformatted my SD card and i must of mess some other things up. I am using clockwork and I also formatted the internal data "i think" ......I can boot into clockwork but that's all i can do. It doesn't see any zips on my sd card "fat 32 16 gig" I don't know what to do. If i reboot the phone it just goes into fastboot and from fast boot i can get to recovery but want recognize anything of my zips. I don't know what to do to get my phone back working??? Please help
Ok evidently there are suppose to be certain files on my SD? I stuck a old SD i use to have in my EVO and i can see my zips now!
If you formatted your sd card and didn't keep a backup of any working rom, you will have to start fresh with a fresh rom install. Just push the new rom onto your sd card from your computer.
not sure if you know this or not cuz it sounds like you don't, but if you format something you completely erase anything that was there. as in if you reformatted your sdcard you erased all data on it, including any zip files that where previously there.

Yes formatting erases every thing which brings me to think either there is some type of file on the micro sd that i need or after formatting it became corrupted. I had 2 cards. I use the 16 gig all the time. I formatted it and put ROM zips to flash. Clockwork cant see them...I put in a 8 gig i use to have in phone and then add zips to it and i can see them all along with other folders....So like i said i dont know if the card is corrupted after the format or if i need some type of file structure with certain files.

Safe SD format/Clockwork Update/reflash procedure?

I'm currently on CM7 which I flashed over Nightly #38. I'm liking it, but I get some reboots and stuff, so I want to do a fresh flash after wipe.
However, I'd also really like to format my SD card to clear any bad sections on it and hopefully prevent it from getting corrupt (just as a housecleaning item). I figure I also might as well update to the latest clockwork recovery at the same time.
Could someone put down some instructions on how to do these things safely, or post a link? I'm not sure if formatting the SD card will screw with Clockwork recovery, or what order I should do things in, how to do them, etc. REALLY don't want to brick my phone in trying to do the right things!

1 - Download ROM to SD Card.
2 - Copy the contents of your SD card to your computer, so you have a backup!! Very important!!
3 - Update to the latest CWM recovery.
4 - You can have your phone format your SD card, or if your computer has a SD card reader you can format it from your computer. I've done both, with no ill effects.
5 - After the format, boot up the phone and copy the SD card backup that you copied to your computer back to your SD card. Reboot into recovery, and flash the ROM you want to install.
Good luck!
EDIT: The one issue I did run into was when I formatted my new SD card with my computer. I copied my files over from my computer to my SD card, put the SD card into the phone, then booted it. The phone deleted (maybe reformatted...?) the contents of the SD card, and that is why making a back up is so important! I was able to just copy the files back over, and that issue was a one-and-done issue.
Thank you, but I should have been a little clearer in my OP...
I'd really like to just start from scratch with my SD card, i.e. clean it off and start from new. I will be sure to back up the current files that are on there, but there's a lot of crap I don't need and rather than sort through it all, I figure I'll just format and then add stuff back on that I find I need. How do I do that safely? Are things that MUST be present at all times for Clockwork to function, or whatever?
Also, why would I add the ROM on before formatting - won't the formatting just erase the file?
I probably was confusing here: I thought adding the ROM to the SD before formatting, you could then copy everything over off the SD card. You can certainly just d/l the ROM to your computer and copy it over that way too.
CWM needs the clockworkmod folder, which is where things live including any ROM backups you may have.
Depending on the apps you have installed, they may have created a folder. If you don't have those apps but have those folders, you can delete them if they don't contain anything you need. There are folders there that Android will create upon first boot with a freshly formatted SD card.
EDIT: I adjusted my prior post with *hopefully* steps that aren't confusing.

Few queries about htc z!?!

I have been loading all the roms and just realised my sdcard is getting filled.. therefore can format my sdcard?? Will it remove the rom or change the S-off or brick my phone??
Can replace my 8gb sdcard with 32gb sdcard? Should i do anything extra to make sure it remains rooted?
Can force close be caused only by software issues or even hardware?? I ask this coz a month back i had dropped my phone and it did not start for couple of hours. After that i have being having issues with many roms and many apps esp market force closing and the clockwork recovery not flashing properly...

Your OS is installed in the internal storage of your device, not your SD Card. Formatiing your SD Card does nothing to your ROM at all. Force Closing is most probably a permission issue. Try Fix Permission in ROM Manager.

Do you mean you are keeping the ROM files, and/or nandroid backups on your SD card? After you flash a ROM, you can get rid of the zip file. Or copy it to your desktop computer, if you think you might want it again in the future.
Similar thing with nandroid backups. I usually just keep the most recent one on my SD, and move the rest to my PC.
Some apps save data to the SD card. If you want to upgrade to a larger SD, just copy the files you need (or think you might need) to your desktop computer from the SD, then copy them to the new SD card, and swap the cards out. Upgrading the SD card is that simple.

Not the zip files but the original rom which installed.. i asked this bcoz when rooting i had to create gold card change the value and so on.. so i wasn't sure if that would be affected if i formatted the sdcard or deleted all the folders ..
i have trying out many softwares, and now i dont even remember which is ones i have removed and which is need(lots of folders, some where created by some roms i hard tried)... since i always backup imp data on my pc.. i have no worries there..
just wanted to clean up whole thing since i have figured out all most all the sw i will need..

hey,
if you copy the twrp directory from the top then i suppose
but honestly, keep your backup where it is, it just seems wiser
bye
I keep all my backups on my PC (I have multiple going back several weeks/months) . The choice is up to you where to keep your backups. There is a possibility that you might format your SD card by mistake. So keeping multiple copies is not a bad idea. I personally keep nothing on my SD card. It is there as a "go between" the PC and the Tablet if I do not have my cable with me.
So your call; PC, Tablet internal storage, SD Card, or any combination of those.

good call, i forgot about that, thanks
Here is one more thing I do. Before attempting anything new that might cause problems with the tablet, I will put the most current backup in the download folder of internal memory. Then, if anything goes wrong and for some reason I can't access the SD card or cannot connect to the PC via the USB port, then I can go to TWRP and restore the tablet from internal memory. It is just a failsafe procedure. And, I will always backup before adding any new apps. If the apps work then I will back up again so I have a restore with the new apps added.
One can never have too many backups.

Retrieve / Restore Data on Adopted External SD Card After Flashing Firmware

On Android Nougat (LineageOS), I flashed firmware and ended up re-installing LineageOS, etc. Recovery (TWRP) did not see my SD Card, and LineageOS sees it, but wants to format it even though it has tons of data presumably. I had it configured as 'adopted' storage. Same device. does flashing firmware erase the SD card or re-create the key? I had it setup as 'adopted storage' and all my TWRP backups are on it. Can I retrieve this data? Is it even still there?
If I do need to re-format, should I still use the 'adopted storage' choice? I want to make sure that whatever I store on the SD card will be usable after I flash a new ROM, firmware, etc. Is it just a matter of meticulously backing up all the data from the device while it is in a working state? Boy, I don't want to start over if I can avoid it!
Thanks!

Adopted storage extends your internal space, I always use external storage, but I have a 32gb phone.
If you want to access data after reflashing rom you must use external storage.
And for the data recovery I don't know if it's a chance to recover it.
Ok.. looks like I am going to start over. If I choose external storage, can I install apps on the external, and use it for storing the same kinds of data and expect the phone to use it, just not the same contiguous virtual partition/volume?

You can move some apps, but not all of them.
zips for twrp you can storage with no problem.
music, videos, photos, etc you can storage with no problem.
