[Q] Stuck at "Entering Recovery" - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, about 3 months ago i converted my M8 to a GPE edition. Today i started to revers it back to Sense, following a guide by Sakitech over on Youtube. Now i am stuck with no OS. I have tried to flash TWRP, but i can't enter recovery. Is there a way of getting my phone back in working order?
If you need something i am happy to provide it, i just need my phone back!

Try fastboot erase cache and flash TWRP (with fastboot) again. What version of TWRP? Make sure its an updated version. I believe some older versions don't play well with newer hboots.

So it seems I'm having this same issue Stuck on "Entering recovery".
I'm running KK 4.4.2 and fastboot flashed the latest TWRP 2.8.7.0
I'm S-off and bootloader unlocked. I wanted to make a NAND before I used Dotats RUU 4.4.4. But I cant get into recovery after flashing TWRP. I've tried it a couple times and did the cache erase. I saw some posts that said older versions of TWRP worked. I dunno, any suggestions?
I can reboot into hboot with ADB, but no recovery.
Thanx
Edit: FYI if your coming from KK 4.4.2 - I flashed a couple older versions of TWRP (2.8.3.0 and 2.7.1.0). 2.8.3.0 froze at "entering recovery".
The TWRP 2.7.1.0 version boot into recovery as it should. I'm now running it.
TWRP should post some info regarding the incompatibility with older versions of KK. I suppose there is a thread for it, I'll post to.

You can also run TWRP 2.8.0.0

Thanks, 2.8.1.0 was also suggested. I'll try them out.
I didn't plan on staying with 4.2.2 kk but I wanted a backup. Although that may be unnecessary wite the RUUs available.

TWRP 2.8.0.0 worked for me, thanks to #tony_5309

Stock Recovery Flash Error???

I have the HTC M8 Dev edition. My bootloader is unlocked, I'm S-ON, and I previously had installed TWRP.
I wanted to go back to stock recovery to download OTA updates.
Went to the collection thread (found here) and downloaded the 1.54.1540.9 recovery, as it perfectly matches mine.
I used the Hasoon2000 All-in-one toolkit to flash the recovery after renaming it to recovery.img. Now when I boot to recovery I get the red triangle/exclamation point error.
What should I do to get the recovery working properly? I'm not too experienced with ADB, but I have rooted and flashed recoveries before (using tools/toolkits for the most part).
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
Whoops, it probably worked the first time, but the triangle/! didn't appear to mean anything. I waited a couple seconds after flashing with CMD/fastboot only and stock recovery came up. Sorry for the n00bery. Kit Kat update installing. Thanks all! Learn from my mistakes if you googled this.

stuck at twrp recovery / recovery only starts for a split second

I've been trying to root my HTC m8 and everything was going perfect until I went to load the twrp recovery in order to access supersu. I followed a youtube guide and everything was fine, but now whenever I try to load recovery, it will either say loading recovery and then go into my stock OS, or it will be stuck at the recovery screen and I'll have to power down the phone.
Is it because the twrp recoveries I'm using don't work well with my hboot? I'm completely new to this stuff so I have no idea what the problem could be. My HTC is from At&t and my Hboot is 1.61 and I've used twrp recoveries 2.8.7.0 through 2.8.4.0 and none have worked. I've also used 2.7.0.2 and the philz_touch_6.26.6 with same results.
I've erased the cache after every flash recovery, and rebooted the bootloader before I recover again. If I'm overlooking anything or doing something dumb please inform me! I have no clue what to do now...
Are you sure it's a HTC M8 ? hboot 1.61 is a HTC M7

Cant enter recovery to flash ROM ..idk if bricked?

hi guys ..im new to this forum stuff so if im in wrong section im sorry lol.. ok.. so im not sure how to explain this, but i was flashing over my HTC ONE M9 and for some reason it bootlooped back to the bootloader after completion and i was flashing Android Revolution HD 20 .. and then i went to upgrade the TWRP to 3.0 and idk what happened but it failed and now i cant load into recovery mode or download mode.. it says 0PJAIMG missing.. it just says failed to boot into recovery and back to the bootloader and im not sure how to load back a stock ROM or any ROM for that matter..
You updated twrp. That is a no-no. There is only one working twrp and one working supersu.
Twrp 2.9.0.1 and supersu 2.65 is the only working combo.
Get the phone into download mode then Fastboot flash twrp 2.9.0.1. Reboot and it should at least fire up.

I am running ARHD 20 and twrp 3.0 without a problem, as are many people. But some have had issues.
How did you flash the new twrp? It sounds like you might have done something wrong.

Flash ROM - i'm going crazy here!

Hi,
i have a Helium 128G and got some problems with the radio. Currently i was on 8.1.5 following the guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/guide-install-global-miui8-root-t3435594
and i also officially unlocked the bootloader after this.
So i thought - to flash a new radio - it would be fine to just flash the 8.1.9 over the updater method. Unfortunately the phone rebooted in TWRP and flashed something. After this the reboot took >10 Minutes so i rebooted into TWRP and found the internal storage is encrypted now. So all data lost. Great!
Nevertheless i tried to flash 8.1.9 via Mi Flash. This worked and the phone booted but after i flashed TWRP it won't boot anymore. What is this? Is it even possible to run 8.1.9 rooted with twrp?
Thanks for your suggestions, i'm really pissed at the moment
EDIT: My TWRP Backup with 8.1.5 worked and now i have the radio from 8.1.9 and the rom 8.1.5. Nevertheless i would like to have 8.1.9 rooted with twrp
Hi! I've also experience your problem, did your phone entered recovery mode after flashing TWRP? if not try flashing the 8.1.2 ROM through EDL (power+vol up+vol down) then after letting the first boot finish flash TWRP. Hope this help
I'm not sure but at one point i saw the xiaomi recovery picture!? Now it works with my 8.1.5 backup again but is it really that heavy to just install a current version when on twrp and root!? i'm officially unlocked for that.

Can't upgrade TWRP from 2.8.7 to 3.0.2

Hi, I flashed the FOTA Kernel with TWRP 2.8.7 onto my phone and inside TWRP I flashed the recovery with the 3.0.2 TWRP image (telling me "Successfully flashed")
But after rebooting I still have TWRP 2.8.7
Using windows command line and "fastboot flash recovery "TWRP.....img" I get this "FAILED" message.
What am I doing wrong?
I even flashed the phone back to stock and then followed these instructions but same result.
Is my phone broken or sth?
Hi H4NNE5, the Xperia M does not have a recovery partition. The TWRP recovery is included in the boot partition when flashing the kernel. Try to upgrade with the TWRP-Manager if your phone is rooted.
Hi Lightningsfire, Thanks for you answer.
Ok, that's weird because I read a lot of threads but none said anything like that. I'm more confused right now.
Anyhow the LineageOS is not properly working on my phone anyhow so I set it back to Stock Rom and check back in a few months if it improved
One more question:
So if I flash the whole software package the boot partition is overwritten then, right? Because I noticed that the Recovery was a different one, after I flashed the system.

Click to collapse
Try this command
fastboot flash boot twrp_name.img
