[Q] Xposed on my M9 not installing; friends M9 fine? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
Last night I've unlocked my bootloader, rooted & S-off'd. Everything went pretty okay
and was a success. Also I flashed the .17 international firmware .
I am currently on TWRP : 2.8.6.4
When I try to install the 21 or 22 SDK package found in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-5-1-successfully-t3074586
I get the following return : "Wrong platform arm64, expected : arm please download correct package for your platform/rom"
So at first I thought I'd better try and flash the 22SDK package
But that returns :
"Wrong SDK Version: 21, expected 22 - 22 please download the correct package for your platform/rom".
What am I doing wrong? I do not see any reason for this not to work right now.
Firmware: international .17
ROM: Insertcoin 1.2.0
S-off, unlocked, rooted, TWRP recovery as stated above
Thanks guys

At this moment TWRP is stuck at "swipe to unlock", not responsive also not to power button/power+vol down.. what the hell?

hold the power and the volume UP for several min

Thanks! Absolute life saver :good::fingers-crossed:

Thread can be closed.. Found the correct package - Apparently I had 2 files mixed up
for everyone who comes across this thread via google or so
make sure you have the SDK21 arm 64 ! Instead of the arm (without 64) and not the 22, even if the system says so
This is from M9 android 5.0.1 , Sense 7 firmware .17 international, TWRP 2.8.6.0 & Insertcoin 1.2.0 S-off, unlocked, rooted.

Btw you are using the official TWRP which is almost broken, I'd recommend you flash the latest beta version it's way better

yea well depends... a 401 firmware did previously work for you? The new 401 firmware should then work too.
Looking at my error code list i see an error 23 which is a zip error and another close number which is also a close number and also a zip error.
I suppose there was an issue with the firmware zip you flashed. Did you verify the MD5 hash before you flashed it?
It might have been damaged during download and the zip wasn't actually flashed?
I suggest you choose the ZIP flash method and manually reflash it, then post the console window content here. It will tell me which images got flashed and what error occured (maybe). If there was no error, it means the new radio probably just doesnt work for you or the ROM and Carrier combination or something like that....
anyhow... without knowing exactly what happened, it can not be diagnosed properly.

thanks. the 2.22.401 did work for me but the new 3.x.401 update after i flashed, caused (maybe) the no signal problem. i already dealed with the error 23 problem but unfortunately, as i mentioned, the signal was gone. all the method i used for flashing was fastboot. i already tried to revert to the stock rom and stock recovery that matched the original cid. what i noticed was the imei was unknown. tried to fix it but i guessed i just bricked my phone. now it is not turning on . i don't know if there is another way to unbrick it other than using jtag.

Try holding down the power button+vol. up for 20 seconds and see if your phone boots up. Doing this is the equivalent of a battery pull.

Hello sir,
Please look for the guide to remove the tampered flag by @scotty1223 - that guide is also suitable for this new message, that replaces the old tampered message.

Hello sir, in order to use my firmware you'll need to S-OFF first.
As stated in post #1, this is not for S-ON users.
Other than that, if your CID is HTC__044, this firmware is for your device as well.

I can see some people mention 3.28.401.7 FW, but you have the 3.28.401.6. Any reason to use x.7 instead of x.6?
P.S.: i love your FUU ?

No mate. All i know is it contains a fix for croatia. Its been rolled out to other countries too though, so i made FUU's and ZIP's because i guess there are more fixes in there. Just don't know what yet.
This was a totally blind update. Tested, yes, but not taken apart and looked at like i usually do. I have NO clue whats inside. Only thing i checked is Recovery and whether or not it was updated. Yes it was.
Anyhow, HTC often doesn't do much more like build date changes. Sometimes, hboots or recoveries get pushed out that are just newer, but not changed.
They have a streamlined building process and if they update one major thing, they often just automatically build a RUU or OTA Firmware and all files get new build date stamps. At least that is what i have seen occasionally in the past. Files that are 100% identical in hex view except the file header that contains the creation date.

Are you serious about this? This literally tells us nothing, gives us zero information on what you actually did.
What website? I know you can't link, but tell us as best you can.
Or tell us the exact steps you followed. Step by step, in as much detail as possible, give the file names, versions for TWRP, SuperSU, etc.
On the hboot screen, does it give any version number after "OS"? If so, what is it?
If not, what hboot and radio numbers?
Also, on the hboot screen, does it say UNLOCKED, RELOCKED, or LOCKED near the top?

Can't tell what you are trying to say here. "Flashboot" is not a valid term. Please clarify what you mean.
I think you mean the "fast boot" option in Power settings. But if you are trying to root Lollipop, this option doesn't even exist anymore. Nor is it that relevant. It only affects trying to get into bootloader from a "power off" condition. As long as you can get into bootloader, the fast boot option doesn't matter.
Thanks for ur suggestion but it seems like now i am unable to get into bootloader mode power button and volume down button is not working .Every time i do so now it ends up with the htc logo previously i was able but now it seems it is not working. So is there any other way i could get into bootloader mode and post more detail about my phone hboot and other like u said
Maybe it runs out of battery ... put it on wall charger for a few hours.
When in bootloop .. press & hold both power & volume UP buttons until it turns black/screen off then release both buttons and hold & press volume DOWN button only yo get to bootloader/hboot
When it runs out of battery, after charged, press & hold volume down button then press power (when it vibrate, release power button but keep holding volume down button) this will get you to bootloader/hboot

This almost always means that you aren't doing the button combo correctly. Do as ckpv5 suggest above. You either aren't pressing vol down soon enough, or letting go too early. Just try again, until you get into hboot.
I had the same problem, fixed it by flashing RUU found here .

The RUU linked in the previous post won't work. RUU needs to match your OS number you just gave.
If there is an RUU for your OS number, it will work. You will need to relock the bootloader to RUU.
The other option is to flash a 6.12.740.4 TWRP back up, if someone can upload one for you.
Or another option is to just flash a stock or rooted ROM, if you aren't picky about being on the exact stock version 6.12.740.4 for your CID.
As far as rooting, you probably flashed the wrong SuperSU version for MM. But its hard to say for sure, since you only answered a portion of the questions asked of you.

I asked a number of questions in Post #2 above, some of which you didn't answer. Namely, if you tell me what version TWRP and what version SuperSU, I can probably tell you why the root failed, and how to do it properly once you get the OS installed again.

There is plenty you can do. I already told you 2 possible solutions to the issue. Now you need to read and search to see if the files are available. If you have specific questions about the process, I'll be happy to answer. As for searching for the needed files, you can do that just as well as I can.

How to install a MM Custom ROM while on KITKAT? (International version)

Day 1, I got my phone I unlocked bootloader and rooted.
I created a backup and tried installing Android Revolution HD 53.1 and it worked, however my WiFi didn't work and boot times would be long, so I uninstalled it and went back to my backup I had made. I read that this happens because my current firmware 1.58.502.1 (4.4.2 KITKAT) is too low (incompatible) to download Android Revolution HD 53.1.
Recently I also bought the sunshine S-off method. So I am currently S-OFF.
ALSO worth noting while I have the international edition of HTC ON M8, I am using T-MOBILE
With S-OFF am I able to go directly to Android Revolution HD 53.1 (which is MM Custom Rom)? If not how do I make my devie compatible with this version?
I would appreciate any help, thank you.

Installing the RUU will overwrite twrp that you had to have to be as far in the process as you are, you'll have to reflash it. http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-t-mobile/news

Promise this will work. Got confused when you said T-Mobile before I typed 502=Unlocked/dev ed

Sorry to bother you but since you said I can just upgrade to a newer firmware that matches "502", which firmwares would these be? Would you be able to link me to one because I don't really understand where to look for something like this. Just to clraify I am on T-Mobile network but I am using the HTC ONE M8 International edition

Thank you very much for your help, although I am a bit confused.
I am currently downloading htc_m8_1.57_DEODEXED_InstallerFix.zip from the link you provided ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52807841&postcount=98 )
Once this is done downloading, load it up on twrp and flash it?

You're running 1.58.502.1... as long as the x.x.502.x part matches you can flash any firmware s off via twrp. Search HTC m8 502 firmware. Plenty of guides.

Please do, I'll be more than happy to help with any questions although you seem to have 90% of this down. The other 10% is small stuff only plausible via sunshine.
Lollipop 502 (AT&T) firmware can be found here (packed with custom ROM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/development/att-4-4-3-2-22-1540-3-debloated-sense-6-t2837365
Another option (since you have s-off) is to change to Developer's Edition CID or SuperCID. then flash to Marshmallow firmware or MM RUU (if you want to be all fancy like that). Although the current custom ROMs (including MM ones) should run fine with LP firmware (its KK firmware that is the main problem).

Honestly, I gave up. I was reading some tutorials but did not understand what I had to do. I come from a Galaxy S4 and that phone is infinitely more times easier to mod than this phone. I have had to jump through so many hoops to just root it.
However, I have no idea where to go now, I feel like such a noob.

Stick with it. Every device has its own learning curve. And we're happy to help and explain as much as needed to get the job done.
But really, flashing the firmware is not too difficult; especially considering you've already accomplished unlocking the bootloader, know how to flash custom ROMs, etc.
The link I gave you has instructions on how to flash the firmware. After doing those steps (1-3) just flash TWRP 3.0.0.0, as the version indicated in the page I linked is a bit old.

Just got back from work.
I made a backup, flashed the new firmware through cmd, flashed twrp through cmd, now I am flashing lolipop through twrp, i am sweating so much my hands are sweating so bad, i hope everything turns out ok, this is the first time ive ever done any of this so I am extremely nervous.
UPDATE: LOLIPOP ROM FLASHED SUCCESSFULLY, REBOOTING PHONE (I know that it usually takes a while for a fresh ROM to boot) WAITING PATIENTLY AT htc one boot sequence, crossing my fingers! :crying:
UPDATE 2: Got past the boot, now waiting on "Android is upgrading... Optimizing app 44 of 223" (damn bloatware!)
UPDATE 3: SUCCESS!!! EVERYTHING WORKS, YOU ARE A GENIUS, I LOVE YOU MAN, THANK YOU!
I really appreciate that you helped a complete stranger such as myself, I know you didn't have to, but I greatly appreciate it. Thank you once again man :fingers-crossed:
Running another backup and I will attempt the Revolution ROM once again.

HTC M8 from Three UK stuck

Hello everyone.
I have an M8 with a corrupted software.
Always stuck on HTC logo.
Sometimes when it boots, it shows "3" , which means it's from Three UK.
I looked everywhere but couldn't find the corresponding RUU, except on http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads , but it's only around 500 MB !
It's in zip format.
I can go to the bootloader, but it doesn't accept to FACTORY-RESET (gets stuck on HTC screen)
Software status: Official
RELOCKED
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I unlocked the bootloader in order to try to install another RUU.
Now it shows "UNLOCKED" .
I installed twrp and superuser (I guess).
According to the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
I have to install the sunshine.apk which I can not because my phone doesn't boot except to the bootloader !
What to do here?

That isn't an RUU, its kernel source, and not going to be of any help to you.

Unlocking the bootloader will not allow you to run another version's RUU. I don't know why you think that, but its not correct information.

S-off is not the correct path, to do what you want (nor should it be necessary - save yourself $25). As you've figured out, you need a working OS to s-off; but working OS is the reason you want to s-off. So you have a Catch-22 dead end.
If there is no RUU, unlocked bootloader and TWRP are good things to have done. Now restore the 6.13.771.4 stock nandroid backup, using the file and instruction here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

Thanks for the info.
I know TWRP and S-OFF won't help me here, but I just wanted to show what I've done.
One question, why to restore 6.13.771.4?
How will I know it's the correct one for my phone, and not a part of the pre-installed corruption?

This is the main version given in your screenshot in your top post. And you'll see from the stock nandroid collection, that its the correct version number for your CID (carrier version).
Simply put, this is the stock Marshmallow ROM for your M8 version.
Somebody likely made the backup with a working OS. Yours has become damaged or corrupt (most likely) just on your phone. Not every phone with this software number is going to be broken!
didn't work!

Any particular reason why you are looking in command prompt? Since the steps don't use command prompt (unless you adb push the files).
What version TWRP?
Can you post a screenshot of what the TWRP backup folder structure (on the phone) looks like in Windows Explorer? Not sure what we can be missing here. But its worth a look.
Also, you might try the a Lollipop backup. It should work fine with the MM firmware. Although it may cause an issue with OTA updates (mixing LP ROM with MM firmware), at least it (should) get the phone up and running.

I want to try Lollipop since it was the o.s. when my phone was working properly before I upgrade to 6 and get the wifi problem.
any specific Lollipop version?
I just want a stable version.
thanks

Fastboot getvar all

Help me get back to stock on my AT&T HTC One M9.

I've played with this phone for some time, but am tired of messing around with it and just want to get back to stock with root and unlocked bootloader as fast as possible. AKA have someone walk me through it on a screenshare/call. I'm willing to pay for the help. Not sure what someone would want to tell me what to do and help me do it. Please send me a PM and I'll update this thread when I've found someone.
Current state of things:
Bootloader unlocked
S-On
CM13 from Feb2016 installed
TWRP recovery 2.8.7.0 or thereabouts installed.
I have windows7, 10, and Linux Mint boxes depending on which you prefer. I am fairly technical, but haven't messed with things since I mucked up my phone. I never thought it would be such a pain in the a$$ to get back to stock as this is the first time I modded my phone. Just don't have time to try 1000 things or read 1000 threads. :crying:
thanks
What's your current firmware version? (boot to download mode and copy the OS version number).
I'm fairly certain that AT&T has a Windows executable RUU that will restore your phone to stock. (You'll probably need to install HTC Sync Manager to get the right drivers installed)
---------- Post added at 01:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:41 PM ----------
When you get your firmware version, the key is to only use a RUU that matches your version number or is a higher version. Downgrading is not possible for S-ON devices.
The current version is OS-2.11.502.18
