Broken Wifi but working LTE? - T-Mobile LG G3

I bought a used G3 for $180. I didn't know at the time that the wifi doesn't work. The phone is a T-Mobile (d851) and I have a ATT sim card. The LTE/broadband works though, the only thing wrong with the phone is the wifi.
I flashed the phone to completely stock with 20B. On stock, the phone still doesn't pick up wifi (Lollipop). Then I installed TWRP and flashed other roms and none of them fixed the wifi. I used BlissPop and CloudyG3 while flashing the firmware to stock repeatably. Currently, I am using EuphoriaOS, still the wifi doesn't work.
No matter what I do, the wifi doesn't work. It turns on but it doesn't detect any networks. I used Wifi Analyzer and nothing picks up. Strangely enough, when I switch the Bluetooth on and off, the wifi suddens picks up networks but it doesn't connect to them. When I was in a McDonald's, I switched the Bluetooth on and off. It picked up the wifi but then it suddenly dropped off. The trend in Wifi Analyzer shown this clearly.
I thought this was a hardware issue so I opened it up. I tested the antenna with a volt meter and it was completely functional.
I am completely out of ideas. Any directions would be greatly appreciated.
Later on, I flashed it to 10R firmware and its still broken. Its just very unstable now. I think it is a hardware issue. I placed a mobile hotspot right next to the phone. At first it detected but I couldn't connect to it. Then it said it was out of range... even though it was right next to the hotspot... That pattern was the same for other wifis.

[Q] portable wifi hotspot disables 3G ?

had the phone over a year now, never had an issue before.
As soon as you turn on the portable wifi hotspot, i loose the 3g/h symbol from the top of the screen and from that no data conectivity?
and as sopon as you turn the wifi hotspot off, it regains an internet conection
Any ideas, ive not installed any apps recently, as far as i can remember?
Do you get an internet connection when another device connects to your phone's wifi hotspot.
If you are able to connect, then it must be working, as it's the 3G signal that the phone uses to connect the wifi to the internet. It might remove the icon, but if you can connect then it's fine.
nope, can conect my ipad to the DHDs hotspot but no internet.
the same for when i turn the hotspot on, cant brouse anything on the phone as no data conection
still not sorted this, anyone else got a aide or something to sort this?
First post (longtime lurker)
I've got the same problem here although this has only started happening in the last couple of days. The phone's data connection is fine until you enable the wifi hotspot at which point the connection is dropped to the phone, connecting any devices to the phone is fine, they get an IP address and can ping the phone directly, but beyond the phone there's nothing.
Rebooting the phone does not help.
The only app I've installed recently is Google Shopper.
Out of curiosity Fil what ROM are you using? I'm on RCMix3d Runny 3.0 which is based on Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5. I'm looking at switching to an ICS build pretty soon.
It also looks like we're on the same network although I think that's just coincidence.
yep sounds exactly the same issue,
as for rom, still on t-mobiles original 2.50.110.5 Adroid 2.3.3
was thinking of flashing something custom to see if it solved the problem
I've just flashed IceColdSandwich today at work (it's been a slow day!) and you'll be pleased to know that wireless tethering is working again. I'm on the train home as I type this. It's possibly something in the 2.3 image? I can't really say since we both had different ROMs (mine was a Sensation port). It could just be a bad bit of code in the gingerbread OS that produces this bug on rare occasions.
It may have something to do with the fact that T-Mobile and Orange allow you to roam on eachother's networks. Do you have roaming enabled?
To be honest I'm just stabbing wildly at possible causes here and a flash fixed it anyway. I went ICS but I don't think you'd have to go that extreme but flashing a new ROM overwrites whatever it is that caused this in the first place.
I'm just hoping it's fixed in ICS and won't happen again!
cheers, enabled data roaming, and it now works!
Since the issue, my batterys turned to crap! guessing thats the cause constantly jumping networks, and also data speeds have been very poor lately, was ok when just t-mobile, but orange is poor!
Off to the t-mobile foeums to see if its just me, or others!

Help please. No wifi network found

I bought a INC2 from a guy last week. It is unlocked so It works perfectly with my ATT sim and I managed to get 2G running. Then I checked the GPS, Camera and so on, everything looks until I wen back to home. Because there is no Wifi network in my work place so I didn't find the wifi seems not working. The phone cannot found any wireless network at all. I am sure I made the ssid is broadcasting. I was thought it probably not happy with my wireless router so I closed all security setting. But the phone still cannot find the open network. So I drove to our library where have public wireless access, still nothing. On my way back, I use my other phone as a hotspot, nothing happened even I put two phone together.
Here is a list of things I did in next couple days, went to a office building which hosted a lot of company. Almost all of these company have some sort of wireless network, my other phone in my right hand can found at least 10 networks while the INC2 which in my left hand can find none. I flashed the ROM to CM7, nothing. update radio, nothing.
Flashed to skyrider, nothing. update radio, nothing...
The guy who sold me the phone said the wifi is working perfectly when he is using it with verizon. He updated to iPhone month before so he didn't notice if the phone stop work with wifi after his update. He seems to me a honest guy.....
any idea?
TIA
Well you can just add the networks manually.

Weird wifi problem

Hey...I really have a strange wifi issue that I nor anyone else I have asked can figure it out. My galaxy note 2 connects to our wifi router with no issues. Works fine. BUT...occasionally it loses connection to the internet. It stays connected to the router...but not internet connection. After I turn it off on my phone and turn back on...its back on and fine.
B U T...that isn't all. WHEN it loses internet connection...it turns it off for EVERY other wireless device in the house. Laptops...cellphones, etc. Every other device will not be able to connect until I turn my wifi off on my phone and turn back on...or at least leave off. It never happens anywhere else...just at my house.
What is going on? I haven't a clue how to fix that nor what can be done...or why it is even doing this.

Yes. just did again. I'm just keeping my wifi off on my phone for now. I have a tech coming out to replace the wifi router since its theirs.
I have had similar issues ever since i flashed a 4.3 rom, wifi never works properly, did the param-4.3 odin flash too.
are you stock or on a 4.3 touchwiz rom?
Ok. I have replaced the wireless router...or I should say Charter did. They replaced it with the same model though...brand new. It still has the problem. I am on 4.2 btw and rooted...but no custom rom. Any other ideas.
You running a dual band router? Try only going on 2.4ghz band.
There are also some WiFi power savings settings you can turn off that should help also.
I had that same issue when i first got my phone in Oct fresh out of the box on 4.1. I did those changes and everything has been fine since

Intermittent WiFi disconnects

Has anyone been having any issues with the WiFi randomly cutting out?

Mine did it twice today, whereas my G2 would know to reconnect upon scan...
Hopefully this is just a one. time thing.

Hopefully your issue isn't as serious as mine is. I literally just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they will be sending me a replacement phone.

I had this issue with my first G4, but i sent that back due to damaged leather back i have had a couple times with the second one where the wifi acts funky, not a problem but def like wtf moments
No problem with disconnects here.
Mine definitely disconnects and reconnects randomly
My verizon g4 disconnects periodically. Should I be ordering a replacement?
I haven't seen this with my H811 G4.

Only had the phone a day so haven't seen this yet but i did get it randomly with my G3. I could never figure it out. A quick on/off of the Wi-Fi fixed it quickly. Router is Netgear Nighthawk. About 8 other Wi-Fi devices in the house and never seen it on anything else.
I've been seeing this on my H811. It's nothing major but it does cut off then quickly reconnect after several seconds.

Mine also does this on the T-Mobile version.
H810 here. My G4 seems to strongly - and I mean really strongly - favor mobile data. My house is festooned with wifi access points and yet my G4 often turns its wifi radio off and I have to manually turn on wifi, then manually connect to a nearby access point. As I move through the house, rather than connecting to an access point with a better signal, it shuts the wifi radio off, altogether.
The G4 has shut its wifi radio off while I've been in the process of selecting a wifi access point. It's shut its radio off right after I've selected the access point I want and while I'm booting up the web browser.
Today, at work, the G4 is continuing to seemingly randomly shut off its wifi radio. When I manually turn it on, then select the access point, I find the phone has forgotten the password.
Very frustrating.
As an experiment, I have now shut off mobile data, to see if that will coax the G4 to seek and maintain its wifi connection. But there's no way I'm going to spend my day turning off or on mobile data, wifi radio, etc. I'm already manually turning Location on and off, to preserve battery power.
had wifi issues on the 2 g4's i've had. sent first one back due to damage to back cover on arrival. Glad its not just me having wifi issues
Having these issues as well. Rebooting my router sometimes stops it from happening, but quite frustratingly, the phone gets very hot (and discharges quickly) as a result. Have had a hot, dead phone before.
Most of the WIFI routers have different type of connections G / N / B, The N type is not a !00% compatible with our G4, therefore I suggest you to change to B/N, after I change the protocol, I havent see the WIFI issue so far.
I had Wi-Fi disconnects because I had turned on the advanced option to automatically swap to Mobile data on weak Wi-Fi signal. After that was turned off, the Wi-Fi worked as it should.

Where is it said that our phone isn't compatible with N?
From http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4-6901.php : WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot
I found that disabling ipv6 on wlan0 fixed my slow wifi issue, but still getting the disconnects. (it reconnects automatically though)
http://i.imgur.com/HUDYd71.png - I have a script to disable ipv6 at every wifi connection.
Every instance of SManager is my wifi reconnecting randomly in the house yesterday at my desk.
I have had this issue on my H811 since new. It does it more on 5 Ghz than on 2.4 Ghz, but it still happens. It's more common at home with my Asus router than at work with the Cisco APs they use.
After the latest update I have noticed that the iPod touch I keep in the car disconnects from the hotspot on the phone way too often. This never happened with the previous build, but I also didn't have xposed installed before. Has anyone else noticed any issues with their hotspot?
I got an LG G4 on Friday in the UK and it is running version 10D.
I am encountering this issue and I am finding it extremely annoying - did anyone find a resolution?
It is so frustrating it is getting to the point where the phone will be going back for a refund. It does it at any location with WiFi I go to, so I know it isn't a configuration issue on my WiFi at home.
I'm having this issue too all of a sudden. First thing I noticed was excessive battery drain. But every few minutes it connects to a different ap in my house. Other phones and devices don't do this. Time to dig.

WiFi issues on D851

OK so we have 3 LG g3s (D851) here at home. All on the same WiFi network. The only thing is that the WiFi is not reliable on any of them. Right now we all have the same rom (because Bliss MM is awesome). But, on every rom we use WiFi does not work properly. What I mean is that sometimes we will have the exclamation point on WiFi, most of the time we won't but, on all times things won't load. Like play store or websites. It is very random. Sometimes it will load and sometimes not. Other devices on the WiFi work correctly.
Now, steps I have taken:
Completely wiped phones.
Tried different roms.
Used the Nebula WiFi patch.
Factory reset router.
Toggled 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
Checked and unchecked ipv6 on router.
Used DNS and ipv6 disabling apps.
The closest I have had it to working is to use ipv6 disabling apps from the plays store. It actually worked. At least briefly. This is driving us insane. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. We have a Linksys router running DD-WRT, and I have tested another router also. Which leads me to belie believe it is a G3 problem.

Can't really complain about problems if you're running CM. CM is full of bugs and in my opinion it's not worth it. If problem persist go back to stock rom
Well OK then.
Weak signal quality on WiFi. T-Mobile LG G3 d851 30g
Good morning to all. I am new to forum and to the developers side of android. I am using a T-Mobile LG G3 D851 30G with android 6.0 stock T-Mobile software. The phone is in the otterbox defender case. I have tried it in and out of the case. Unless i am on top of the modem 5 to 10 feet away it has barely 2 bars. Any direction on what to look for and where to start would be greatly appreciated. It is an unlocked phone.
Thanks
Alex
