I have an SGH-1747M which I am sure is the correct model since that it is what it said before I installed a new ROM and it is the model listed at the back of the phone, with the serial number. Recently, I installed a Lollipop ROM from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-sprint/development/rom-d2spr-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3074688
The ROM was meant for for the model SPH-L710, but it managed to be installed on my SGH-1747M phone. The ROM, although it works perfectly, has changed the model number on my phone to SPH-L710, and now my phone is only compatible with d2spr. I tried installing the ROM actually meant for my phone but I was unable to since my phone isn't d2att (the actual code for my phone) anymore. I tried installing a stock ROM through odin but it still won't recognize my phone as SGH-1747M.
I need to know how I can return back to my default model, since I have been told I will have network problems with the current ROM since it is not meant for my phone.

I would just be extremely careful with this. Do you make a nandroid backup before flashing? I would restore that or a previous one first. That will probably fix your problem.
Have you tried to flash one of the Unified CM 11 Zips? Those are kind of universal installer, see if that will fix your problem. http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte Download this and make sure you wipe everything a few times. Then install the zip.
People on here bricked devices by downgrading to certain modems/basebands after flasher a newer one. It seems like you have a newer modem, so I wouldn't try it. If you can still get into download mode, I would flash the latest tar for your device. I'm pretty sure it is an AT&T device or close variant.

Thanks it worked.

Friend of mine at work has an ATT Galaxy S3 that he said was running CM10 fine. He said that he flashed CM11 recently and that the phone boots and runs fine, but will not read his SIM card. Is this a known issue, or where should I start to help get him up and running again? I'm pretty android savvy, but I've never owned/worked with the S3 so I am not familiar at all with it specifically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Does the phone display the correct IMEI and baseband? Maybe an updated modem is required?

I asked him about it and he said that it's not showing any information under system properties for the baseband or anything. I he said that he also first flashed the bootloader from here as well as the latest CWM recovery before flashing the M3 milestone snapshot of CM11 (from here). I had him flash a different rom (pac-man rom) just to test and the same issue occurred, so I believe it could be an issue with the modem as you said.

Definitely more info needed.
What ROM is on your device?
What bootloader did you install?
What modem/baseband/radio is on your device?
What method did you use to try to install the bootloader?
Is your phone still showing the correct IMEI in settings or 0 ? (Compare between that shown in settings and under the battery.)
It may be as simple as updating your modem, but I/we can't tell yet.

I'm new at this, in fact I have flashed by old Captivate several times but yet to flash my SGS3. Anyhow, I have spent many hours reading. Before doing anything I suggest, read, and read some more.
Don't flash back to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 at this point. They will install an older bootloader than is currently on your phone. From what I have read, you narrowly escaped bricking your phone. You might want to read some of the threads regarding the 4.3 stock ROM and unbricking before making any changes in restoring your device.
You can probably fix this by flashing the modem that goes with the 4.3 series ROMs. It would also be the MJB flavor, although the MJ2 would probably work. Several of the 4.3 TouchWiz ROMs in the development forum have download links for the MJB modem. I would guess you were probably going to install one of them. I would recommend flashing the modem to see if that solves your issues before going ahead with the ROM flash.

The reason I didn't put a link in the previous posts was to get you to read about what you were doing as you searched for the modem. I am offering advice on things I have yet to experience on this device and only speaking second hand. My advice is only based on what I have read not on anything I have had to correct myself.
In truth I think you just stopped too soon in the process of what you were doing earlier. You said you installed the 4.3 bootloader in preparation to installing a 4.3 or later ROM that required the up to date bootloader. You didn't mention installing the current modem/baseband. You didn't mention trying to flash whatever ROM you had been considering.
You may be able to correct your device simply by installing the 4.3 modem. HERE is the modem thread, it is in the General Forum for our device. Make sure you pick the correct one. I don't know if your device will work well on the MJB bootloader and modem with a 4.1.1 ROM, from something I seem to recall reading I suspect it will.
Take this in steps. Install the correct modem, the one that matches your bootloader. See if that corrects you sim, data, and IMEI problems. If it does correct the issues, the next step is to decide if you want to stay on the 4.1.1 ROM or change to whatever ROM you had been considering. If you decide to change, make backups first. If it doesn't fix the problem while on 4.1.1 you may want to flash the version of the official 4.3 ROM enewman17 has provided on the development thread.
Take it one step at a time. Read about what you are about to do until you understand it well, all before doing anything. Make backups sequentially as you make each corrective step.
HTH.

Did that modem fix some of the problems?
If your on 4.1.1 shouldn't you flash the DKL3 version or can't you just flash thru Odin the DLK3 stock ROM thru Odin Amd start all over again
I've been on 4.3 with that bootloader Amd have flashed back to 4.1 back to the baseband version DLK3 firmware. I would think being on 4.1 you should be able to reflash using Odin to fix the issue or flash the modem for 4.1 .
I flashed a new ROM On my ATT Galaxy S3, unfortunately I grabbed the wrong file ( it was for an S4) and soft bricked the phone. I was able to download a new stock rom, but while it looked fine, it can no longer find the SIM card. It thinks there is nothing there, also there is no sound (with speaker or headphones), and mic doesn't work. I have tried several different ROMS from Cyanogenmod, SLIM etc.. all with the same results. Software seems fine, downloads apps etc.. but same issues with those pieces of hardware. Maybe more I just havent found out yet. Any suggestions what happened, or if it can be fixed/reversed? Did I just ruin my phone? Help! LOL

I really don't know, I used two different methods to load the ROMs, Odin and one I think is Custom Recovery (TWRP) . I am not very knowledgeable to be honest, I have seen the terms, but I don't really know what they are. Is there a way I can find out which bootloader and modem is on my phone?
Download the Samsung Info App from the playstore, install it, run it, and report back with your bootloader and modem.
Also, boot into download mode and let us know the model # from the downscreen. It should say sgh-i747.

Since your phone was running 4.4.2, do not attempt to flash any ROMs using that attempt to downgrade your bootloader to anything prior to 4.4.2.
Your may just need to re-install the modem.

Hey guys... Been a LONG time since messing with an S3, and I don't want to brick it... SO, figured I'd reach out and ask before doing anything...
I downgraded a friend's S3 to UVDLJC to sim unlock it and it seemed to work fine on stock ROM. I then rooted the rom, flashed TWRP and factory reset the device and then flashed a custom ROM (this version is SlimKat but I had tried CM13 as well.. both have the same issue, no SIM detected)...
Anyway, I assume that it is a modem/radio issue and I should just be able to flash the modem firmware and be fine.. Problem I'm having is I'm not sure what to use... The phone is a T-999L Which, as I understand it, is the LTE GS3, but the software that was on it was based on the non LTE version (not sure if I'm correct about this)...
Anyway, looking to get this phone working for the friend's daughter (it was supposed to be a christmas present )...
Any and all help is appreciated.
Additional Info:
Phone model is T-999L
Boot loader is T999UVDLJC
Build version reports 4.4.4
Rom is currently SlimKat
Unified tools reports model as SGH-T999, type as d2tmo
Not sure what other info can help, but happy to provide.

Odin'ed back to LJC original firmware... still shows no Sim card.
The latest custom ROMs require the latest bootloader and modem to function properly so the phone probably needs an update. Once the phone is running a 4.3 or higher bootloader means the bootloader cannot be downgraded in the future.
I don't see the LJC firmware for the T999L: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T999L/
I see LJC for teh T999: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T999/

Yeah, I'm thinking the phone is a T999, not a T999L. In my best estimation, the motherboard was swapped to a T999L case/screen. The sticker shows T-999L, the phone reports T-999. Additionally, under settings, the IMEI differs from the IMEI reported on the sticker. (Neither He, nor I was the original owner of the phone... so who knows it's history... For all I know, I really am working with a T-999L and someone flashed a different IMEI (worst case scenario I guess).
Is there any way to know for absolute sure? and should I go ahead and just flash 4.3? is there any downside to doing it other than that the boot loader can't be rolled back afterwards?
Personally, I would go by the model # shown with the phone in download mode.
Did it ever detect a sim card after unlocking restoring to stock?
It detected a sim when we got it (on 4.1.2), it detected a sim when i downgraded to 4.1.1, it detected a sim when i unlocked the sim, it did not detect a sim after flashing CM13, it did not detect a sim on SlimKat, and now it does not detect a sim after 4.1.1 (flashed via Odin) (LJC) and Download mode shows T-999 (NOT T-999L).

Correct and correct.
This is bizarre because I don't understand why it would suddenly stop working. Did it say SGH-T999 on the download screen before flashing to 4.1.1?
I assume the stock ROM boots without issue?
Also try this: download and install the Samsung Phone Info from the play store to confirm the bootloader and baseband currently on the phone.
When flashing from a custom ROM to stock 4.1.1, did you perform a factory wipe?

Stock rom boots without issue...
Yes i did a factory wipe between flashes. (Although, first flash of CM13 I did not, it ran weird, i rebooted, factory reset, flashed again then it worked fine minus the sim card issue).
Phone Info confirms SGH-T999, type: d2tmo
Boot loader: T999UVDLJC, Baseband: T999UVDLJC
Not sure what else to suggest other than reflashing the LJC ROM and performing a factory wipe from stock recovery before the phone's first boot of LJC.

Hmm, I'm out of suggestions because you did everything I would do other than either flashing the latest stock 4.3 since the phone is now sim unlocked or running OTA updates. on a stock ROM.
The sim card in the phone works properly in another phone? Is it possible the sim reader was damaged in some manner? I know it can happen when using micro/nano sim card adapters.

Oh... adapters is a good suggestion. Yes, when I originally unlocked the phone, I used an adapter as my sim is a nano sim... Whats the damage look like? and is it fixable? I'm assuming just bent pins?
Is flashing an LTE Rom a possible solution? or is that a hard brick result?
You could try flashing TWRP and an older build of CM that will work with a 4.1.1 bootloader and modem just to see if the sim card is detected.
The metal housing on top of the sim pins is difficult to remove so it may be easier to just buy a replacement sim/sd card reader.

Sorry for the delayed response... Yes, I finally got it to recognize (last night) ordered a new sim card tray.. interesting way to mount it by the way...
Anyway, seems as if the guess at the adapter damaging the original was correct... new one seems to be good to go.
My phone was working fine and suddenly one day it got stuck on booting screen, then i have tried everything including flashing Rom, but all in vain, finally i ordered a new motherboard from aliexpress.com, the phone got started but everything is in Chinese language, play store was not there and even it is not working when installed from other sources, even whatsapp not working and i am not able to install without google play store. Earlier version installed in the new chinese motherboard was android 4.1.2 and it was asking for software update , when i have updated its software to 4.3 , baseband version N7100ZCUEB1 AND KERNEL VERSION 3.2.31-2859655, BUILD NUMBER JSS15J.N7100CUEOK1.,due to chinese version i am not able to use whatsapp or playstore. After updating the phone, i am not able to make a call and it shows the error "not registered on network" even the apps installed by me are not working, kindly advice what to do, should i use any other version or anything else. This is a chinese motherboard and i want change its software to indian version, what should i do?

Hmm, looks like it might be the China version of the Note 2 which has limited features. Search XDA for the Note 2 China version and you'll see that many people have problems with flashing ROMs.
Can you send it back and get the international version of the motherboard?

If the phone was the international version, it should say "GT-N7100" in Odin mode. See the picture from post number 1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618261
There's nothing wrong. You need to write the IMEI to the phone memory. By the way you didn't need to buy the entire motherboard. Only the phone memory (16gb eMMC) was corrupt. Samsung produced faulty emmc in the early S3 and Note 2 models (google and you'll see). Mine had same problem I took it to repair shop and they replaced the emmc and wrote the IMEI. Charged me around $40 in local currency. Just tell them you have corrupt IMEI and they'll do it for very little amount of money. After you do that, flash TWRP custom recovery and take back up of your EFS and Modem folder (the IMEI is located here). Then you can upgrade to 4.4.2 and restore EFS and Modem from TWRP.
I don't think it is corrupt or defective chip since 4.3 successfully installed on the phone.
i have changed the CSC code from CHN to INU, after then when i went to recovery mode it shows INU in place of CHN, but i was not able to flash indian ROM in that via odin 3.09, it shows the message "nand write start : failed" and finally failed.
When tried with ODIN 3.07 it shows the error, serial port is not communicating , while USB debugging is allowed in my phone. In recov ery mode it shows the phone detail GT-N7100_CHN_CHINEXYNOS4412 and downside it shows CSC code INU, could any one suggest which ROM to FLASH and how?
CWM recovery is already flashed in it and it is already rooted.
I tried to flash offical 4.4.2 ROM indian version and failed , could anybody pls suggest anything else.
I know of no way to flash a non-Chinese ROM to this phone. I have seen people try to get a ROM onto a Chinese phone. When they do get the ROM installed, The Play store will not run.
The CSC is simply a carrier customization. The problem is the bootloader which prevent the installation of non-authorized ROMs.

This ROM is not official, it is a custom ROM as seen in recovery mode.
Based on your first post, the phone looks to be running official 4.3 Chinese rom: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-N7100/CHN/
All Samsung phones made for mainland China have very tight restrictions on the rom, bootloader, and apps.

i think you misunderstood my post...I said his PREVIOUS emmc was faulty. Now that he bought and entirely new motherboard( which has the emmc) he everything is fine. He just needs to write the IMEI to connect to network (not registered on network error).

Hey if you can't flash other ROMs from odin..
take it to repair shop, they have 3rd party hardware flashing tools, they'll flash the latest 4.4.2 international rom.
I'm not sure if it's possible to flash an international ROM on the phone. Also, the phone may not have the necessary hardware to support the carrier's radio frequencies. If the phone shows the correct imei, not being able to connect to a cell carrier could be a hardware limitation.

before up-gradation of this new chinese rom , network was working fine , so it must be enabled for the frequency range.
The phone may have been running a custom ROM or a hack to allow the phone to work with your carrier? I'm not sure but it does sound like the motherboard is made for mainland China.
