MOTO 360 full of scratches afer just 1 week - Moto 360

Hello guys.
I had a MOTO 360 for about a week or so.
after just that week of normal use. My screen is full of tiny white scratches,
also, the bottom of the watch, is cracked ( where the bands are .. )
I called the storewhere I bought this watch. They say, its my own fault. And they probably wont want to replace this watch..
Is there something more I can do?
I mean, its gorilla glass 3, it isn't suppose to sratch after 1 week of normal use..
Please help me further?
Thanks!

What are you doing with your watch?! I work in a warehouse and my watch is still good as new the back has for small cracks but that's because of the pebble band

I have had mine for months without any scratches. . This watch isn't made for rugged use.. construction, landscaping, etc

Get it replaced under warranty due to the cracked back.
Then get a Nillkin glass screen protector.

Thanks for all your replies
Im using it like a normal dude. Im sitting behind a computer all day everyday, so that cant be the problem
I got it replaced indeed, due the cracked back
But, I think it comes due the pepple steel band. Is that possible?

There is a thread about cracked backs. It seems its common for the pebble band to cause cracking due to the pressure placed on the plastic 'ears'. The official moto band has plastic spacers which help prevent, although some have damaged those too.
Good you got it replaced. Check out the Nillkin screen protector. Cheap and can barely tell its there.

i don't know if corning 3 still can get scratches, can you confirm it via a photo/ etc?

Recommend that you look at the Steelconnect series of adapters. The M180 is reported to greatly reduce the risk of cracked backs. Gives the Moto a more high end watch appearance in my opinion.
I found that metal contact, such as server racks has not scratched my watch yet. Concrete and stone will more likely scratch due to the presence of quartz chips which cut even Gorilla glass. If you go through doors or elevators that are in placed in concrete, you may have casually bumped against the edge and received the scratch.
Fortunately, most protectors will cover minor scratches.

My moto got replaced a few days back, so I cannot make a photo of the scratches.
But I didn't walk in to something, I'm always very carefully with my new gear..
If i replace the band with a so called 'steelconnect' will the back still crack?

My watch glass has a few scratches.
My workplace has walls made of stone! I presume i have grazed my watch, moving past people as i'm walking up and down the stairs.

I am also worry about my motot 360 will get scratched. Have you fix it now?I saw some tempered screen film for it in the market. But i am not sure whether it can stick on the watch well.

I got this for $10 on amazon and it has worked great. You get six protectors (and a lifetime replacement). The first one I put on was a trial and it worked good but I did not get it on perfect and it started to get some dust on one side so after three weeks I replaced it and got the next one on perfect and it has been great. We are heading on a cruise in a few weeks and will be on some beaches and wanted to be safe against the sand.

I've had mine since launch day and don't have any scratches. You can however get it replaced via warranty for the cracked back. But the steel isnt' scratched or dented. The glass is still flawless. I have worn mine every day all day without issue. I've even knocked it on a few corners as I walk too without issue.

Mine got a few but I'm a perfectionist so I got a screen protector and it looks perfect. I tried a glass protector but it chips and I would rather have soft plastic protecting the 360's glass to absorb impacts. So far it has survived 4 foot drops, stucco walls, and me directly punching the watchface with my knuckles when the tilt-to-wake stops working!

Tempered glass screen protector. Amazon has them for under $10. I hate the feel of plastic screen protectors on a phone, tablet or watch. I much prefer the feeling of glass.
I've had this one for a while now and once on, it stays put. Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VWV74W8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I agree I loved the smoothness of a glass protector, and how you could wipe a glass protector with a rough paper towel and it would come out perfect! But the thing is the glass will transmit the force of an impact directly to the 360's screen, and eventually you get a nasty chip in glass protectors.
A plastic protector will adsorb impacts and won't chip no matter how bad the impact, it just protects the 360 (and gets little scratches, but only in the plastic) These ones have a good non-sticky feel and for 2 for $15 I just replace them when they get too scratched up: http://www.powersupportintl.com/brilliant-film-for-moto-360/

Thx. But I have no access to that link for the screen film u left for me. Is it $10 for 6pcs? is it a tempered screen film ?
---------- Post added at 01:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:14 AM ----------
thx.But the link you left is not available now. So i am unable to see the detailed information. Could you pls send it to me again? If it looks well. I would like to buy one for a try.

I recommend a tempered glass protector. Have a look at the attached picture. That is how horrible my protector looks. The screen underneath is still flawless.

The cracked back isnt just a byproduct of using a Pebble band. I have the official Motorola metal band and guess what...2 small cracks coming from the base where the band meets the watch. Another factor that can contribute to it would be how tight you wear the watch, and the position on your wrist. Is it above the wrist gone near your hand or behind etc.

Who doesn't use a case or screen protector?

just asking because the phone is so big. I didn't use either on my SGS II either and had no issues with major scratches or resale. (sold for $405 on Ebay recently) with photographed blemishes with a small scratch and dings on the body. normal wear and tear.
I don't view my phones as jewelry or rare baseball cards. Resale has always been better than if I spent $50 on cases and screen protectors I buy my phones used and don;t worry about a few blemishes. The slim form factor and smooth screen outweighs the need for a perfectly blemish free device. The larger these devices get the less I am inclined to make them even larger.

Im not using a case or screen protector. Not too sure about a case working with the car dock and I didnt think a screen protector was necessary with gorilla glass.

in fact it could be safer - even with all my paranoia and safety precautions I happened to scratch my previous device - the glass is not sand-resistant

My SGS II was scratched as well but not bad enough to affect it's usefulness or sale. I had one scratch and I really did not baby the device and carried it in my pockets with all kinds of things. The glass scratch resistant not scratch proof. It takes a lot to scratch it though,

It really isn't UNLESS one is OCD about their device and would not be able to sleep if a blemish should occur. One of the reasons I buy used other than to save money is the phone is already marred. The first "door ding" or dent on a shiny new car or guitar is the worst. I don't buy either new either. Maybe I am more OCD than I thought
I always install screen protector and case to my mobile phones. Mostly because I prefer to keep all my device in prestine condition rather than resale value. I find it is less economical to "protect" your device than just leave it as it is. For example, I have spend $200 on different cases and screen protectors during my 1.5 years ownership of iphone 4. I doubt I sell my iphone 4 for $200 more.
But some Note's case provides a functionality in addition to protection. Those wallet case let you store credit card and cash inside so you don't have to carry addtional wallet, which is really appealing.
Mine had fine lines already.... so much abt the glass...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I use a cheap 10 dollar case/belt clip, but no screen protector. I used a Dell Streak for a little over a year. Had a screen protector for about 2 months, took it off and never used one again. I didn't even bother with one on the Note.
After confirming that the screen is gorilla glass, I removed screen protector (it was scratched anyway). Not a single thing visible in the screen glass after 5 months. Of course I do not carry the phone in a pocket with sharp metal objects / sand / industrial cutting tools / diamonds...
The battery cover is another thing, it gets marks (lost texture) where it touches the table. Poor plastic, sorry. Anyway, replacing the battery cover costs the same as a case, and you don't have to cope with the extra size...

Interesting take. I don't know about pulling out all of that every time I want to use the phone though. For those who wear a suit and carry in their jacket pockets might be a great idea than the back pocket. I am leery of carrying a phone that sticks out above my back pocket though. Always carry in the front.

Battery covers are Cheaper than all but the $2 Hong Kong gel cases. I have a White Note prefer a dark one but it was the only one available used at the time. I found one doesn't see blemishes as easily on the back cover. It came with the " Samsung foilio cover" but getting Sand under the screen cover could be a problem here at the beach so I dumped it.
i don't use either of them.... but i'd be happier if I did. Because the back panel of the phone already looks a bit scratched and bruised... whereas the screen has a noticeable thin scratch on it.
But anyways its just a phone after all, and being too obsessive about every small dot or change of it isn't too good for us.
OMG This it very cook thing
I'm just using a $3.50 matte screen protector (pack of three) with a $3.90 neoprene pouch from ebay.
Tried the TPU stuff, but that stuff attracts dust into the space between the screen and the bezel (about 1/10 of an inch opening?). Nasty crap.
i dont use either, never did with my hd2 either
Im thinking about screen protector - but case ? Hell no. I used a case on my iPhone 3G and guess what - the case scratched my screen, resulting in matte spots on the corners.
Just keep the keys in another pocket
My Note is used bare unless being transported in my bag and then it resides in a cheap Shocksock from Ebay ... I used to be fanatical about cases for my phones but hate the extra bulk and I use my car dock several times a day which just isn't practical alongside a case ...
The Notes beauty shouldn't be hidden beneath an ugly case ...
Bare is best in my opinion

Glass screen protector finally available for XT1080 Droid Ultra/Droid Maxx

After exhausting most searches for a Glass screen protector, it looks like an ebay seller finally has one for our Droid Maxx/Ultra phones XT1080

I will post a report once I have it in hand and on my phone.
Looking forward to your review! I'm running the Skinomi screen protector and it's been great so far but this is definitely something to look at after this one wears out.

I dont think that there should be one. Looking at other screen protectors, they only are
over the screen and are ending on both sides right before the glass gets round. I hope you understand what i am trying to say. The protector wont go completely to the edges. But i am looking forward to that test/review too.
Application: VERY easy to apply. I let it drop on to the phone and it was floating on the phone, letting me make minor adjustments to even out the sides. I followed the install tip of "touching the center of the phone to let the adhesive spread", which actually worked. There is a small <1mm border where the adhesive hasn't fully set. I am hoping that this sets fully over time-otherwise it will attract dust.
Coverage: It covers more than 100% of the active display but leaves about 5% of the Motorola glass uncovered. This is good for me, since I use a Diztronic TPU case, and screen protectors that are too close to the edges end up peeling with TPU covers.
HUGE improvement to image clarity, viewing angle, and feel. The whole phone seems to be higher resolution. 90% reduction in fingerprints/dirt/resistance. I am using 0.1% brightness using Gsam screen dimmer, and it looks so much brighter than before indoors!
Since only one manufacturer brought this XT1080 case to market, I'd have been happy even at a much higher price. I am ordering a few more for spares in case I ever need them and find them discontinued/unavailable.

Great find, though I am still a bit confused on what this product does.
Is this a screen protector or something else?
How does it make the display look better than the original?
Great find... I've been trying to find tempered glass for my Maxx for months. I ordered one of these for about $6 (dirt cheap!), and am liking it so far. I'm curious, though... Have the edges of your tempered glass adhered yet? Mine has been on for a few days, and the edges are still not grabbing completely. My Maxx lives in a Trident case (Kraken, I think), so the edges of the screen protector are pretty much covered. Just wasn't sure if there was any trick to the application that I missed...
After a week the top and bottom of mine never fully 'seated'. Doesn't affect the viewable part of the the screen but looks kinda crappy. Put the same product on an iPhone 5S and it went on completely correct from the start. Makes me wonder if it was me or the protector.
Since I have several, I took one off and applied a second due to the outer edges not making full contact. The manual refers to letting the 'adhesive spread', however there is no adhesive. It simply clings to the clean phone surface. I placed the first screen protector on the middle of my LCD monitor. totally clear all the way to the edges.
I think the Droid Maxx screen isn't 100% flat, perhaps as a result of the (LACK) of precision that led to both of my XT1080's having a terrible creaking noise on the side.
Despite this nuisance, I like the feel of the glass cover more every time I use it. I'm actually fearful of the Droid Turbo launch now--in case glass covers are not available on launch day.
$95? Presumably the seller jacked up the prices on these.... That's crazy. The privacy version is less than $10.
literally, I think is the best protector

I went through some of the sellers feedback, noticed that some say it is plastic and not glass... I would think it's glass, so just wanted to make sure. Can anyone that purchased from this eBay seller confirm.
Also noticed the price decreased since it's under $6 shipped now.
It is definitely real tempered glass.... When I took my first one off, it took very little to crack it. the bottom layer touching the phone was the only thing keeping the pieces of glass held together at that point.
The XT1080, like the Droid Turbo, Note 4, and IPhone 6, have glass that curves at the edges. These rigid screen protectors don't fully attach at the edges causing a halo effect.
Companies have been revising their Note4 designs to address this but they are basically just making the screen covers smaller with more of the screen uncovered.

Scratches: who has them?

We have all seen the JRE scratch test video, and most of us have read Corning's response, but what is the real world scratch resistance?
When I was picked up my phone I noticed the display model had a few small scratches, so I tried to make more. I used both a penny (mohs of about 3) and a Swiss-Key stainless steel (mohs of about 5.5) keyring knife to try my best to scratch the screen, but I couldn't cause a single scratch. So why was JRE able to scratch with the level 3 pick, why did the display model already have scratches, and why couldn't I cause more?
I have tried a few different screen protectors and none of them stay down with a case, but before I take it off I want to know how safe it is.
For those of you with no screen protector, who has gotten a scratch, who hasn't, and how do you store your phone (pocket, purse, granite counter face down?)?
Using mine naked, zero scratches. I did almost have a heart attack when on day 3 it slipped out of my shorts pocket (I was wearing those loose basketball shorts and should not have had it in my pocket when I sat down, I knew this about those shorts) in my car and slid in between the seat and the seat belt anchor (which is metal!). I fully expected to have a nice, big scratch on it when I slowly and carefully retrieved it, but nope! Not a mark. Lucky I'm sure, but nonetheless I haven't had any scratch issues and it's been a full week at this point.
Full week here, had a case to protect the phone but no screen protectors. No scratches to report, front or back.
Full week here as well. No screen protector (First time in years and my anxiety levels are VERY high) and switching between two Spigen cases daily. No scratches at all. Also got a Slickwraps skin coming in soon, so it should add a bit more protection.
Using a case on the back but the front is naked, no scratches at all and i work construction. Constant dust and debris, if my gands are too dirty I use the iris scanner and s pen to use the screen to avoid any abrasions. Not a single mark....not even a light one. I think GG5 is holding up pretty nicely. Phone is in and out of a no doubt dusty pocket all the time and nothing.
It's nice to read such comments I was a bit concerned about GG5... but I think I will buy the Samsung screen protector anyway ^^ (That is not a tempered glass protector btw)
P.s. I don't have a Note 7 yet, but will buy one next yearm (Exynos - Hungary)
I'm very glad to see that so many have no scratches. Especially coming from a construction worker! I think the entire thing was kind of blown out for a phone that hadn't been released to the public yet. I may never go back to a screen protector if I can't find a tempered glass with adhesive all over.
yes, i work in construction and it can be quite dusty at times. i clean my device when i get home with a micro fiber cloth to see if anything happens, in and out of my pocket, finger use, etc. absolutely nothing. i'm not sure what the deal was with that video, but i'm going to have to go and side with corning on their conclusions. after a week of heavy use so far and different conditions, clean, dirty, i haven't even received a micro abrasion. i'm happy, it's a beautiful device and the glass seems fine...its almost 900 bucks people, handle with care lol
Well, there was a guy on Reddit warning people about the back of the stylus putting scratches on his device.

So did you give it a few swipes with the knife and coin? This is pretty interesting. I hope it turns out more scratch resistant than we think.

More than a few swipes. I took the edge of the penny and pressed hard against the glass, then moved it in small circles and then back and forth, all while maintaining pressure. Not like crack the glass pressure, but more pressure than the phone can apply with its own weight on an object. I did the same thing with the swiss key (Google "swiss key 6 in 1 knife" if you are curious what I am referring to) and once again no scratches. I tilted the screen to look at the reflections and ensure that not even faint scratches were left. The big "but" is that there were already a couple scratches on the screen, so in the week they had it up as a display model SOMETHING had to have scratched it.
Check out this lovely shot from my local T-Mobile. I didn't really notice this on any other phone.

I think I am going to stop by my local sprint store to see how their phone is holding up!
Wonder what caused those particular scratches? Sliding the metal clamp on?
I have a few scratches on mine even after babying it , when it gets gritty I'll wash it off in water shake the water off then hit it with the micro fiber and still managed to get tiny barely visible scratches . you would have to turn the screen at a certain angle for you to be able to see them but they are there ???
No case yet, full week of use and no scratches.
But she's to slippery for me to continue using without a case so I will be putting one on soon when it arrives
I lied in the poll
The screen is softer. Sure some metals will not scratch it, but sand will hand down ruin this phone. Be smart and get a cover for the front and back
I just put one a glass screen protector. Took about 2 hours for it to finally settle. Seems good so far. Box says it has 9H for hardness.

If you're using tap water, it's damaging the oleophobic coating. Tap water is full of hard substances including calcium. Ever seen what an old sink looks like? The tap water alone can be the issue.

I bet even the case guys will have scratches on the back of their phones on the edges. My front screen is hokding up fine, back (on a case) already has scratches.

I'm on the fence with a lot of these claims of having scratches and how people got them. To me, "babying it" and "when it gets gritty" don't go together at all. You baby it, but it gets dirty to the point where you have to wash it off?
For the record, I have mine in a Spigen case covering the back and naked on the front. I've been extra paranoid due to all the scratch hype, so I'm careful to keep it in empty pockets and not lay it face down on any hard surfaces. No scratches yet. Fingers crossed.

How many of you guys use your beloved OnePlus 3 without any form of protection? I mean without screen protectors or case or skin. I've been using my phone without any case or skin for past 5 months and with only default screen protector it came with. I'm thinking of removing it, so, was asking if it's a good idea to use without any screen protector
Update: I just want to say that I went for rhino shield crash guard. I've been using it for quite a while now, and so far it has really grown on me. It's not too big or bulky and offers good protection.

I did. I had my op3 since July and I never used cases or screen protectors. I did dropped it a couple of times, the aluminium developed some light scuffs, and on the display you could only see some fine scratches. In January my gf dropped it, and it shattered the glass. I got it repaired at one plus service centre, and they sent it back with a screen protector. Now I also ordered a pretty case, just in case... I don't want it to happen again. A really tough phone overall

I dropped my phone 6 f***** inches off the ground WITH a screen protector and no case. Shattered the glass accross the whole top of the phone. It all depends on what material and how it falls. This phone has 2.5d glass meaning the front glass protrudes a tiny bit and it curves to the edges. If you drop it on any sort of surface that is harder than glass like cement, asphalt or ceramic, it will shattered the screen if it lands on any corner where the glass touches first.
Now how the heck you can use this thing without a case blows my mind, I can not hold this phone without a case, it literally slips out of my hand.

Yeah, it's pretty slippery. But, the added bulk of case just didn't cut it. And I've this urge to look at the phone's design, appreciate it and show off (lol!) every now and then. And stories like this make me skeptical and vulnerable. I also haven't found a good case to go with it.
I'm fully naked and it s amazing . It s so slim and without screen protector is so much better. That screen protector is not even covering full screen..It makes the experience very unpleasant
Well i am a fan of skins , so that's what I've got with a silicone sleeve over that and my default screen protector that came with the phone , it would be my luck to remove the protector and a stone finds its way in my pocket ...
I have big amounts of love for this phone! Coming from a moto g play after smashing my opo it is a phenomenal upgrade and with the dbrand concrete skin its a sexy phone haha but the screen scratches way too easily for my liking and that's with me being careful but its fine/micro scratches that appear under certain light now it's not gonna make me not use it but I feel it could have been better.
I'm also a fan of skins. I've got a carbon fiber dbrand skin and also had my screen replaced by the one plus service center so I'm using the pre installed screen protector that came with the new screen. The dbrand skin really helps with grip. I just can't use a case the added bulk just ruins the experience of using the device for me. Don't know why I've always been like that with my devices. I hate cases. OCD I guess.

Living without screen protector/temper glass since last September. And oh boi is it durable: beach sand, 10+ drop to flood tile, washing in sink. No dink or scrape...the only micro scrape I got is trying the damn s-pen and it doesn't even work! I do use cases tho. Pic as reference.

Sorry pic doesnt work..someone tell me how to post pics...
Without any protection here. I dont mind if my phone got scratches or something. I use my phones so long that i couldnt sell them anyway when i stop using them cause its not worth anything any more.
So why should i hide my nice metal body phone and some plastic stuff? No, thx
Got a transparant case with a dbrand. Also a screen protector since I was getting allot of scratches..
i got only a case around the back. from time to time i saw a few deeper scratches on my screen. i took care all the time to not scratch my screen, but i still found some scratches. I removed them with polish for car windshields. They are completely gone now.

Question POLL: How long have you had your Fold, and did the inner display crack?

CAST VOTES HERE: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/615389-android/79863368 (Registration NOT required!)
So there's a poll in progress that I started on another website, and I wanted to broaden the scope of it by gathering the experiences of XDA's users. Kinda goes without saying, but the poll option wording was crafted to very vaguely capture how long someone's owned their Fold (ANY GENERATION), and how the screen's held up. If you've got a couple seconds, go there and let me know how your experience.
I want this to spread all over the popular tech communities where Z Fold owners are... maybe this catches fire, maybe it gets a couple votes and fades into obscurity... but I wanna try.
well mine I had for about a month and a half now I haven't had issues but sometimes half the screen has delayed part i don't know if it a software thing or my screen but it seems fine works good I use a rugged casemate case to protect it which helps a lot since the phone is still kinda fragile I can say the screen has improved as for the toughness of it bc I had a z flip 1st gen I loved it never had issues with it I hope my screen doesn't go bc I would have to wait on Samsung but so far I love the phone but wished the cams was better but they do what I need it to do but one thing to keep your fingernails cut bc if you don't it will dent the screen even if don't realize it now the battery life has improved on android 12 I do say that bc I was only getting about 9 hours of heavy useage now im getting about 12 to 14 hours which is good but I dont charge my phone full as it degrades the battery as time goes and what did you have issues with your z fold 3 ? and you should post on reddit to on the z fold 3 communities on there bc there is people that have had screen cracks and all that but all i gotta say is keep the phone clean thats does help alot and its does keep the dirt and micro dirt from gettiing into the phone i always use air duster but i go at a angle at the hinge area and just be careful and i havent had anyhting get into my phone as of this time of me typing this out but good thing this phone is alot more durable since they add water resistant but i hope this help and also when cleaning the outer and inner screens always use a micro fiber towel and a lens cleaner or screen cleaner its does help it stay cleaner and helps with finger prints but i do highly recommend this case for any z fold 3 owner https://case-mate.com/products/tough-black-plus-galaxy-z-fold3-5g
I've had my GZF3 since release and have had no problem at all. I replaced the outer screen protector with Whitestone tempered glass. I removed the inner screen protector.
I have had mine since a couple weeks after release (shipping delays) and I am STILL on the ORIGINAL factory installed screen protectors on BOTH screens and the ONLY issue I have is that there is a slight scratch on the inner screen that is 100% MY FAULT.
Otherwise, perfectly fine here.
Received mine Oct 6 last year. Inner screen still intact with factory screen protector. I alternate using fingers and SPen Pro on it. Outer screen had a small cut when I was changing cases before so I have a Ringke tempered glass on it. Other than that it's all good
Since November 1st. No issues. Both factory installed protectors still holding up. Been in the Aramid Latercase since day 1. Inner screen looks perfect.
One thing I've noticed in the past few days is the effort to fold and unfold seems less. Like it's broken in? Not loose like a TransAM with 100K miles mind you, but just a bit smoother. And completely silent.
With the colder weather I've been resistant to open the phone up if it has been sitting on the seat of my truck. Been getting used to that skinny outer screen.
i've had mine since August 2021; original screen protector still on the inner screen, no cracks and no other issues.

A bit off topic but may I see a photo of the phone with the tempered glass installed? I'm looking for a tempered glass that is case friendly and coincidentally, ringke is in the list.
I've had my Fold 3 for 4 months now .. 2 months into it I opened it up and heard Crack Crack crack.... ohhhhh noooo.. Ended up was only the screen protector it came with was peeling up from the crease. Ended up taking it off and all been well with the screen. No issues so far. Been using the cheap out of it everyday cause I'm still off work. Thinking of getting getting another screen protector for the inside but for now both screens are raw dogging it lol....

I hope the pic is clear enough. Here's the Ringke tempered glass on the fold.

Likewise! I wish I'd have recorded me doing this, but when I got the raised corners everyone in the reviews talked about, I hit the corners with a heat gun and they were gone in under a minute.
I like to rock my phones with nothing but a skin on the back, and a tempered glass screen protector... but my skin's started lifting, so I at least have to find a thin clear case that plays nice with the dome.
