Sorry if someone posted this already didn't see anything. But Figured out a neat trick if you use apex launcher, probably works with other launcher too.
Go to behavior settings in apex settings. then go to double tap and then select launch shortcut. Go down to s pen: screen off.
That's it! Double tap home screen and the screen turns off.

if your device is rooted, then you can download the "screen off" app off the play store. Set it up to double tap to lock. then set up a gesture in nova for double tap, pick the screen off app
I like to use greenify and then set up double tap to hibernate+lock screen in nova. Works great.

No they don't have to be coded for split screen!
Apparently all the "work" is being done in the Samsung libraries - I certainly couldn't see Google amending the GMail app to support a function that is vendor specific.
I would imagine it is more to do with:
1. Samsung amending their split screen implementation to ensure it works with specific common apps, as well as their own.
2. Stopping other apps being added as they cannot ensure how they will react.

Dave

Hi guys!
I am missing a feature I used to have on my old Galaxy I9000: It is called "touchwake" and allows the screen to be switched on, if it gets touched.
Very handy feature and I think TWRP already has it (maybe it's a sensor thing, though). Has anybody an idea? Is this a kernel feature?

You don't have to reach for the power/home button when your screen times out (and this happens to me quite often if I'm reading something)

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the stock standard feature cater for that (SmartStay)?
Monitors your eyes and prevents the screen from switching off if you are looking at it.
Why dont you just download screen on toggler from the play store. That way, you can just quickly pull the menu down, press a button and your screen will never time out. Press it again and it switches back to your original time out setting.
Comes in handy when its too dark for smart stay to work.

There is a confusion on this function. This kind of feature allow you to turn on the screen without pressing any physical button. You can take the phone out from your pocket and swipe or touch the screen and the device will wake up.

Obvious solution: increase your time-out setting.
I have it at 2 min (hate the absurdly short time-out many people seem to use) and it never times out when I am reading.
Plus, as already mentioned, if for whatever reason that I can't imagine you want to keep a short time-out setting, you can always use SmartStay which works surprisingly well and can be very easily and quickly turned on and off with its toggle in the notification shade.
Guys, this isn't about SmartStay or the likes. I am already using it, also QuickGlance. TouchWake means turning ON the display by merely touching it (2 seconds for example). I was asking for this feature in the Perseus kernel thread, if you like the idea, just vote up my request.
PS: I also tried "proximity screen off" from playstore. It's nice but still not what I was looking for. A fast double tap for screen on would be nice for example.

I fell in love with this feature seeing it on a BB10 device (and that's just about the ONLY thing that I like about the BB10 BTW :laugh.
It would be awesome and would enable us to get rid of the physical home button (which wastes space and is a durability worry but it's still needed to wake the phone up as it's way more comfortable to use than the power button).
As I've seen on your comments you really don't know what it is.

And to disable the buttons completely, there is a file under /system/usr/keylayout
That needs editing. Can't remember which one exactly. A lot of people actually remap them to other functions to get more use out of them.

I know that when root comes it won't b a problem, but I loved that feature on my Note 3, and I'm wondering y would they hide the setting? If it's there but hidden, that means it's still there, which makes no sense. Just make it a setting that we can enable if we want.

Guess I need to clarify. I was able to enable the finger air view. That worked as intended. However, when this feature is enabled EVERYTHING else is hard to do. For instance, scrolling is very difficult. Typing is almost impossible because you have to be very deliberate when hitting a key. You have to push the screen hard for it to recognize the selection. It is like this for everything. When finger air view is disabled every goes back to normal.

Yes I used nova and enabled all 6 air view setting however interesting enough it is the mouse view setting that actually enables this feature. I am not sure a out the phone to sleep. I don't think I tried that.

Edit: Just to be clear you can enable finger air view through nova by enabling the "mouse hover" air view setting. In doing this you severely impact the performance of the touch sensitivity of the phone making it much harder to use and if the phone goes to sleep it turns off. If anyone has a fix to this you are awesome.
