HTC Desire 526 Verizon

I bought an HTC Desire 526 from Verizon to use in the USA. Can I use this phone in Canada with Koodo instead? Is it only locked on the CDMA portion to Verizon or do I need to unlock it to work in Canada on a different carrier?

Usually 4G LTE verizon phones are already sim unlocked, just need to change the settings from CDMA to GSM.
Try to change the sim card and check if it got connected to your network.

Thanks, I did that and the SIM card with Fido worked for talk/text, but I couldn't get the data to work. Any thoughts?

For Data add your providers APN on network settings =)

So how is the phones performance? Is the snapdragon 210 good enough to make use of the 1.5gb of ram and multitask?

Antutu came out as 18757.

Could you give a real world impression? These phones can get whatever score on a benchmark and then still fail to perform like the S6 due to whatever multitasking/ram issue it had or might still have.

the 210 doesn't seem that much different from the 410 (really shouldn't be since I believe its only 100mhz difference between the two?) although it does look like I might need to spend some more for something faster.

Ended up just paying extra for a Moto E (currently $100 on amazon, even cheaper on ebay) and called it a day since I need root access. Might be worth it now that best buy jacked the price back to $90, leaving walmart as the cheapest option at $80.

That's strange, I did it myself and it worked no problems, just have to skip the whole initial setup from verizon/htc, keep hitting skip or omit until you're on the home screen.
Also spent a hard time getting a micro sim cut to nano sim to recognize it, if you can, get an original nano size sim.

it detects my sim alright and i can even see the sim services in the home menu but no network coverage

What SW version are you running? I just bought one that came preloaded with 1.07.603.5 (5.1 / 3.10.49 kernel), and frameroot does not work on my phone.

[Help Needed] HTC M8 Harman Kardon Sprint Edition

I'm an asian who bought my HK over the net modded. I have no idea what had happened to my HK after my battery died. After recharging my phone, it suddenly said sim error or unable to read sim card. Could anyone offer any assistance as to how I may be able to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a Sprint network over there?
Sorry dude. You may never get it to work. Sprint models only work on the Sprint network. You should have done some research before you bought it. You should have bought the International unlocked version, and flashed the Harman/Kardon audio libs and ADSP with this mod.
Does the site you bought it from have a refund policy?

I may be mistaken. According to this site, Sprint will work with all Chinese carriers. Only 4g on one, 2g and 4g on the other. and 2,3&4g on the third.
That is something I never knew. I thought Sprint was locked to Sprint more or less.

@xunholyx: yes, in fact I got it working when I bought it. They only thing that didn't work was 4g. It only connected to 3g networks and below

This is the Harman Kardon after all and I bought it because HTC refused to make matte black after m7. I sold my silver m8 for hk edition because of its color.

It says I'm not rooted but I know for a matter of fact that this has been rooted before. Even though root checker says I'm not rooted, it wouldn't be possible for me to obtain cid 111 and s off without root. I'm just wondering if something happened to my radio or other that prevents my phone from reading the SIM card

You mean radio software? If not mods were applied, and no other major changes or updates that happened right before the SIM stopped reading, you are probably looking at a hardware issue.

I'm using t-mobile HTC 10 around a week, but want switch to AT&T now as the AT&Ts 4g internet connection is faster in my area. To my surprise not so many services can unlock this phone at this moment (maybe because the phone just came on market, hard locked or smth). found some services where htc 10 is supported. Just want to ask- is anyone used these services?

just tried and not worked for my device
I heard that all super new phones are hard locked (locked with a higher level of encryption), so that's why so difficult to unlock at this moment(

I am legit. Check out my work for M9 and Desire 626 sim unlock method. Plus I need this to work as the T-Mobile variant I am getting is not in their database (so no unlock app).

Mine was T-Mobile and I have converted to US no problem. My unlock was a physical unlock though.... not the tmobile APP one... Not sure how you will get on there, sorry.

A few questions:
1. I read somewhere that when you flash the US Unlocked RUU during setup you're asked to pick a network. Was there anything like that for you? What did you do if there was?
2. How did you do the physical unlock and how much did it cost?
3. When I bought my phone from the guy I just popped in my sim and it works. The T-Mo unlock app is still in my apps but I've decided not to touch it. How can I tell if mine is physical unlock?

A physical unlock involves plugging the tool into it. You would need to buy that tool. Just try it. Worst case you SHOULD be able to flash T-Mobile and use the unlock app again. PM me if you need S-off

Not sure of your status with this but DO NOT use htcunlockingservice.com. It was $12 to begin with, then I was informed I'd need to pay an additional $12 bc the device was hard locked. I did, they notified me they got an unlock code from Sprint server but it did not work. Site says 100% money back guarantee but thats proving as much of a pain as dealing with Sprint customer service.

Sprint unlock is not done by code. It is not a GSM phone. It is CDMA/GSM so it is unlocked different. Search xda HTC Sprint NV unlock

I unlocked it myself using the basic flasher and NV tools, I was just relaying what they were telling me and the horrible experience of dealing with them so that it may save someone else the headache lol.

New USA unlocked SM-G960U1 cannot be used on Verizon

Just bought an unlocked SM-G960U1 from Samsung.com. I used my active SIM card from the old Moto G4 on the S9 and it didn't work. Checked IMEI with Verizon and it said the phone should work perfectly with their network. I talked to tech service by phone and they told me to look for LTE/CDMA in Settings but I only have LTE/3G/2G and such. in settings. What is wrong with the phone? Is it a real unlocked one or they shipped me a wrong model? Please help. Thanks.

Reset the APN settings
then reboot the phone
and make sure you have store bought sim, they do update SIM models and sometimes it can matter.

No. Verizon is using CDMA.

Yep there is definitely something wrong. Maybe I missed it but I don't see where you mentioned getting a new sim. The best option would be going into a Verizon store and getting them to put in a new sim. If that isn't possible get them to send you a new sim.

Thanks for the reply. I am using my existing sim card which was purchased two years ago. I will visit a Verizon shop and see if a new sim can do the trick.

New sim card is the solution
Thanks all. A new sim card from Verizon activated the CDMA connection of the new G960U1. I am a happy S9 user now.

also for future reference, ive had issues setting to lte/cdma on verizon.. works best for me in global mode

Yes, I certainly got your advice. The time when I asked the question was the evening but I did go to a Verizon store and get a new sim next day. Thanks again. :good: :highfive:

Does your model number change to SM-G960U, after activation with a Verizon SIM or does your ABOUT PHONE section list your S9 as an SM-G960U1?

I've since found that out from Samsung.

I've been using my Sprint z2 Force flashed with XT1789-03_NASH_SPRINT_8.0.0_OCXS27.109-48-6 on the Red Pocket ATT network and recently tried to activate it with Red Pocket on the Sprint network, but it won't connect. Red Pocket says they activated 2 different sims, most recently a 416Q, but when I try to call, the message says it is not activated. No data. Also, I get an Invalid Sim notification with the 416Q sim.
The bootloader is still unlocked, so I'm wondering if the Sprint network requires a locked bootloader to activate, where the ATT network does not.
I find it perplexing that this Sprint phone works on ATT network but won't work at all on the Sprint network.
Should be unlocked with a stock rom flashed, right?

Unless it owes money from Sprint, there is no reason not able to activate on Sprint.
My z2 also did activate on Textnow (Sprint's MVNO) recently.

This phone was purchased directly from Sprint and never activated with Sprint.
Would they be able to track it despite being flashed with a retail (unlocked?) rom?
I can see how they might expect it to be activated with my Sprint account since it was heavily discounted, but I believe that was due to it being a discontinued model with screen problems (plastic scratching).

Sprint cannot trace your rom, they only have your IMEI information and no rom information.
If your Sprint phone cannot be activated on Sprint, it is that you did not finish the "financial responsibility" on the gray list.

Thanks for your suggestion. According to that site, my phone has already been activated for Sprint service.
I wonder if Sprint activated it when they sold it, so as to reserve it for one of their plans.
Or if that site identifies activation by Red Pocket. How can I tell?
In any case, the phone does not work, and still gives the Invalid Sim notification. The first Sim RP activated, did not have the Invalid Sim notification.

OK, I turned off the phone (again) pulled the sim out and plugged it back in. Now the phone service is working along with SMS, but no Internet. Maybe it took a couple of days to get the activation. It is on retry 3 of configuring the network.

"invalid SIM" ,it means the phone is SIM locked.
I believe you confused bootloader unlock and SIM unlock.
You need get SIM unlocked to be able to use none-Sprint SIM card.

No internet , most likely you did not setup APN

Boot loader is still unlocked. IDK why the Sim would be locked.
Before when I chose update PRL, it said there was none available.
Now it is spending an extended time checking for a PRL update.
