Awesome port
Brilliant job, man!! The ROM seems stable enough for a daily driver, even from a dirty flash from Hashcode's CM12 port. Just a few bugs:
1) When choosing to show the seconds for the time, the seconds show up after the PM/AM text. The attached screenshot demonstrates this (I used the CandyROM sweeteners for the Adventure Time themed navbar).
2) When I paired my Bluetooth keyboard, I was able to type the pairing code as prompted, but even though Android recognizes it as an input device, I'm not able to type with the keyboard. This issue didn't occur in CM11, but it was prominent in Hash's CM12 ports. Maybe it's a lollipop issue in general?
3) the navigation ring targets look awfully large (also shown in the screenshot). This issue appeared before (and after, as well) I customised the navigation ring targets, and it did not do this in Hashcode's port.
Otherwise, this ROM is excellent for a first port!
EDIT: Adding screenshot link: http://imgur.com/dubEMEH

Some games crash and can't be started. There is no not responding or force closed messages., they just crash and returns to home screen. Is it a rom problem or am I doing something wrong?

Does it work on the LTE version. Does the LTE work on it ? Thanks!

Did you do a dirty flash from Hashcode's CM12 builds or CM11 nightlies? Try clearing dalvik and cache in TWRP and then reboot. If that fails, I would suggest doing an advanced wipe in TWRP (check all boxes, including system), rebooting into recovery again, and then re-flashing the ROM.

With that in mind, you must have come from stock - did you make backups in case you wanted to revert back to stock firmware? Generally speaking, if switching from Amazon's stock firmware to CM or CM to AOKP (differing ROM bases), you should make backups and then wipe system, data, and both caches (Dalvik and regular). Doing so ensures that no conflicts arise when using the new ROMs. If you do encounter problems, the backups ensure you have software to fall back on. If you're flashing an update to an existing ROM (like you're flashing a newer CM ROM on top of an older CM build), then it's OK to dirty flash (just flash the new ROM zip without clearing data or system. Also, make sure you have the latest TWRP release (you can flash that update just like any regular ROM zip, download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2218802). The reason why you would need Hashcode's port of TWRP 2.8.3.0 for the HD 8.9 is because 2.8.3.0 has support for Lollipop builds, and if you try to flash a TWRP build from TeamWin's website, you'll end up with a brick.

OK, try clearing data, system, and both caches and then flashing the ROM from PhilZ Touch. If you get the same issue again, I would boot into fastboot mode on the Kindle and then flash the TWRP 2.8.3.0 recovery img file (https://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/jem/kfhd8-twrp-2.8.3.0-recovery.img) from there. Best of luck!

Is there a TV Out problem/lack of support?
Everything went perfectly until I tried to send kodi to TV, the app would stall/crash to home and at one point looked just like a broken TV with an interference pattern, requiring a hard shutdown.

It worked for me. I changed the navigation bar icons with no problem. But with aroma on twrp it gets a little complicated.. It works though. See in the main rom thread. I tried to explain there.

Having the same problem with getting stuck on the "Checking connection..." screen. Coming from CM12, but I did a full wipe in TWRP 2.8.3.0 (checked all the boxes, rebooted back into recovery) then installed the ROM and the GAPPS from the link provided in the post.

Bluetooth got problem

Temporarily, I must move the folder Bluetooth in /system/app/ to another place and reboot the OS to disable Bluetooth.
Are there any Lollipop version for KFHD8.9 LTE?
Does anyone got this problem? Any idea?
Thanks.

Can't install "Google Play Games". Error on installation: -505

What's new in this one?

Anyone else having an issue with settings? Initially I dirty flashed Candy5 v2.8 over v2.5. I activated developer options but encountered a "settings stopped" error while trying to access developer options. The "Settings Stopped" issue continued after a clean install. I can't access root. Any suggestions/workaround?

Same problem - "settings stopped" on v.2.8. I went back to version v.2.5, it is more stable.

I'm also returning to 2.1. 2.8, though initially appearing stable, became increasing unstable. Messages like "Unfortunately settings has stopped", "Unfortunately Amazon has stopped", "Unfortunately Android has stopped" became more frequent even after reflashing (clean reflash) the system. Chrome browser also seemed to become more erratic - especially if there are multiple frames per page.

[Q] SGH-T989D (Telus/Koodo) ROMs

My SGH-T989D is buggy. It's rooted and running stock ROM. I figured I might as well flash a new ROM because I'm getting tired of constantly having to deal with this phones issues. I'm thinking about flashing "BeanStalk 4.3.1-1015 - 4.4008 | Linaro-4.8.2 | Diablo3.0 Kernel | [11-26-13]". I just have a couple questions.
1) My phone doesn't actually turn on right now. This morning it was fine, then I powered it down to write a final exam. When I went to turn it back on, it just gets stuck on the screen with the pulsing S. I am able to open my TWRP. My question is, is it fine/safe to flash a new ROM when my phone is in this state. Also, any suggestions on how to fix this or what could be wrong?
2) BeanStalk 4.3.1-1015 - 4.4008 | Linaro-4.8.2 | Diablo3.0 Kernel | [11-26-13] is for the T-Mobile SGH-T989. Will this ROM work on my Telus/Koodo SGH-T989D? Also, are all ROMs for these two phones compatible?

Boot into recovery and check it's version (top right in TWRP), it must be TWRP 2.6.1.0 or CWM 6.0.3.7+ or you will run into issues when flashing/using 4.3+ ROMS, once you have the proper version of recovery then do an advanced wipe, check all except SD and preload, wipe, then goto Settings in TWRP main screen and check "use rm -rf instead of format", go back to advanced wipe and check preload and wipe, you are then all set to flash a newer 4.3+/4.4 ROM.
As far as roms go, you can use 'any' that is made for hercules/T989, the T989D is basically just a Canadian version of the T989.

Thanks a bunch, new rom is a success, just having problems with gapps. when i install the gapps package then reboot the device, i get a message saying " Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" so i touch "ok" the another message pops up saying" Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped". if i touch ok to this, it just comes up again, this goes on to no end.
Figured it out

Video recording not working
So, I thought everything went seamlessly until I tried recording a video today. The camera takes pictures fine, but will not record video. This is the case in every app I've tried (camera app, snapchat, various apps off play store). When I press the record button, it lights up then returns to normal. No error messages just a button that does nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Video recording was not working on most 4.4 based/cm11 etc roms for our device, it was just fixed as of today, so if you get a updated rom it 'should' be fixed, just ask in the thread or check OP to see if they list video recording as working.

Yes. Problem disappeared after wipe data/factory reset. Don't forget to make backup before.
Ive downloaded 8.6.1 2 times. I cant flash it thru cwm. Its says installation aborted. (E: Error in /sdcard/0/Download/Slim-maguro-4.4.4.build.8.6.1-WEEKLY-7513.ZIP) I got a bad download both times? I am from 4.3.1 slimbean. Ive just downloaded the zip, 3rdtime, thru the phone, same error message.
So i restore my backup, so now my phone is slow to start up. Loads slow. Sometimes hangs abit and is fine after the long load.
Art vs Dalvik
Hi all,
I'm a new user of Slimkat 4.4.4 weekly 8.6.1 with Fancy Kernel.
It seems to be very good: faster and user frendly with all the settings.
I have a question. Is it better to use Dalvik or switch to Art?
Is it easy to switch between them? Are there any risk?
Thanks a lot

You should be pretty safe switching to art, but art is still in development and not all apps work with it. Check the link in my signature to see which apps may be incompatible that you need working. Roms these days have the old art bootloop sorted out pretty much, but just in case make a nandroid backup before trying art.
In case of an emergency, and if you have aroma file manager flash-zip, you can manually change your dalvik cache / art setting via recovery. You would flash aromafm.zip (search and download if you don't already have it) and open the terminal. Then to get back to dalvik, you enter:
Code:
echo libdvm.so > /data/property/persist.sys.dalvik.vm.lib
cp -p /system/build.prop /system/build.prop.backup
sed -i 's/libart/libdvm/' /system/build.prop
Thank you.
I passed to ART yesterday.
All ok.
Hi,
Where I could find a list of compatible kernel for slimkat 4.4 stable?
Slimkat weekly 8.14
I'm using this weekly with Fancy kernel.
It seems to be good (only 1 reboot in 2 days).
Yesterday I tried to use ART, but the Gnex had lags somewhere, now I'm on Dalvik again and it's working normally
When someone calls the display doesn't wake up for 2 seconds, Is it normal? How can I fix this issue?
Thanks
weekly 8.18
*edit* fixed the problem by updating the APN settings manually
Did a clean install on my maguro after a full wipe today, with this rom and the full gapps package. Everything works beautifully and very smooth but my phone won't connect to data at all. I've tried disabling and enabling mobile data but nothing happens.
I've had lots of different slim roms installed before but never ran into this problem. Any ideas?
Should not someone a link to the latest version GApps for KitKat?
SlimLP for Maguro?
Are we sure there will be lolipop for maguro? Even Cyanogenmod din't release LP for maguro. So just asking.
Slimkat weekly 9.0
Since weekly 8.6 when I receive a call the display don't start for 2 seconds.
Is it normal or have I to do something?
Now I'm using Slimkat 9.0 with FullGApps 9, but the problem is the same.
Thank you
What can I use on my P3113?
I am intrigued by your SlimKat ROMA, but what to be sure I am looking at a system which can work on my P3113 Galaxy Tab 2-7 ...am I trying for a ROM which is not suited for my tablet? Also, I want to try a system which makes it possible to use my External SD card for more than storage by any trick possible...is this system capable of that? I am currently using Jellybean, rooted, and Directory Bind for the SD use, but I know it won't work if I upgrade the stock system and then root...

I've recently flashed the Slimkat Rom on my maguro nexus, even if i've found that this rom is way lighter than others, i'm wondering if there is a custom kernel that can enhance even more my old friend. Anyone has suggestions?

CM 12 + gapps flashed but no google service and now can't flash anything.

Using Odin/towelroot/twrp I was able to flash CM12 on my tab pro 8.4 but after flashing gapps none of the google apps actually work - they all say that google play service is required. I tried flashing different gapps packages and also directly installing just the google play services APK.
I done a full wipe then attempted to reflash CM12 but the flash would just hang on "skipping md5 verification" or whatever it says and nothing is ever shown on the progress bar. Only way of getting out is to hold the power button and turn the tablet off which of course breaks it. Luckily I can use odin to flash the stock firmware and have my tablet working again. However I was very impressed with the new android and would really like to run it. Is there a way to flash CM12 with odin?
Thanks.
No help? Is it possible to use goomanager on these tablets?

Make sure you use LP gapps and not kitkat gapps.
Wipe system and factory reset / wipe data, install cm, install gapps, reboot. That is all that is needed.

I was using lp gapps. The problem is now I cant install anything from any recovery. Tried twrp and cwm with the same result, it says no md5 fou d skipping validation then just hangs there and never makes progress on the bar even after setting for some time.
The only reason my tab didnt get bricked is thankfully it was able to go into download mode and flash a stock rom with odin.
Got it flashed and this time gapps worked first try! After enable mtp it worked first try. Loving cm12 so far this is how this tablet should perform out of the box.
Could you explain how you manage to fix that ?
I'm currently having the same issue with my 8.4 tab pro wifi cm12-20150108-nightly.
I'm having the same issue here. What GAPPS APK are you guys using as well? I was on 6.5.99 (-036) and it wasn't working. I'm going to try 6.5.99 (-436) next.
Edit: flashing (-436) didn't fix it.

TWRP question?
Hi all, Just wanted to give a big thanks for the work being done on this. I thought it was going to be washed up but it has been
revived ! Thanks again
Now here is what I'm wondering.
After taking the NK1 firmware, I rebooted and Odin the recovery from #2 TWRP
- Noticed in the new recovery it has a message that says "E:unable to mount / firmware" and "E: error sending message to add(or remove) storage 65537" . Is there something else I should be clicking on more?
I basically flashed the ROM as I normally would when I was running the older version of TWRP for a clean install.
I was wondering if all this is normal or did something fail to install when I did my Odin?
thanks again and like I said so far its been running great !!

Did you double check ur firmware? I upgraded 2 NK1 @ first but only 2 of the 4 (pda csc) updated and the baseband and bootloader didn't @ first. Had to Odin back over again now all r NK1. I use the Samsung phone info app to double check. Try that and make sure u do a full clean install. Well that's what worked 4 me.

Any update on broken wifi? i am on nk1 so idk why it doesn't work.

I have the same errors... So far it doesn't seem like it has affected anything though. The only issue I have is the battery seems to drain a lot faster than on stock nk1.
This is actually my first time flashing a rom so idk if maybe it was one of the options I checked in the beginning or not. I chose the unsecured adb kernel so maybe I'll try the stock kernel and see if the errors or battery thing change because I don't really know what the difference between them is.

Hey like I said in my other post this is the first time I've flashed a rom so I don't know much. But when I started this I had to flash stock nk1 and apparently I flashed the wrong version because my wifi wouldn't work even in stock so I then flashed a different stock nk1 and everything worked and continued to work when I flashed this rom.
So what I'm trying to say is maybe you need to flash a different stock nk1 again and see if that works?
Any thoughts on improving battery life? Seems stock had better performance than this ROM. Other than that i love this ROM and will keep it as my daily driver. Buttery smooth and no force closes.

Try deleting /etc/init.qcom.post_boot and restarting. That's where most of my performance tweaks are. If it saves battery, let me know.
As for recovery. The /firmware mount error doesn't matter. TWRP is the only recovery that doesn't recognize it. I'll just comment it out for next release (already using TWRP 2.8.4.0 on my tablet [emoji14])
As for wifi issues, I'm about to release my kernel on you guys, give me a day or so

When I flashed the rom it gave two options for the kernel one said something like "nega unsecured adb" the other said "completely stock". I figured the one that said nega was you're kernel and the other was the tablets stock? Am I wrong on that and what is the difference between them?

The version in the Rom just has an edited ramdisk for unsecured adb is all
@negamann303: Thank you for a fantastic rom. It's great to see some renewed interest in the T217S. I discovered it last night, read through both threads, updated firmware first and then flashed your TWRP, rom and themes. Everything is running smoothly. Looking forward to your TWRP update just to hide those firmware error messages.
I had this problem after flashing the recovery zip. Tried both TWRP and Philz with both reporting thd same.
Next question, how do change air gesture options. I made some changes when I turn the option on. Now I can not find Motion or any option in settings to edit or change. What am I missing? ???????
So I just flashed the new recovery and the firmware error is gone but when I flashed timberwolf's theme (atleast I think it was after the theme but I definitely got the error) I still got the "E:error sending message to remove storage 65537" error. But after a quick Google it turns out you have to turn off mtp in the recovery to fix this issue.
The twrp thread here on xda explains it and also tells you how to disable mtp in twrp.

When you first enter recovery, go to the "Mount" menu then on the lower right side it should say "Disable MTP". Click it to disable and you shouldn't get the error if you go and wipe after doing that.
It's not persistent so you'll have to do it each time you restart the recovery and want to do a storage wipe.

Okay, so I guess I haven't been following this thread as closely as I thought. I didn't realize we were at v2. Downloading now. Can I dirty flash? Any plans to use SVN? If I need to do a clean flash, I will then have to re flash the kernel and theme, right? I remember SVN was a life saver before because Nega is like a mad scientist....always tinkering. Also, I have never learned how to back everything up for clean flashes. Do I go they the whole setup every time like a pilgrim. Titanium bckup is mystifying to me.

If you are using Titanium Backup Pro, I created a screencast video for my phone that shows the right way to create an update.zip file that you can flash from recovery immediately after doing a clean install. I also tried it on my Tab 3 with no problems.

Thanks! A couple of questions...when I apply the update.zip, will it have trouble re installing apps that I got from sources other than Google Play store? I mean, is it storing the apps to re install from the zip, or re-downloading them from the play store? Because I got some of mine from other sources.

No trouble at all. It's creating the update.zip from the apps that you chose to backup, their coming from your phone tablet, not the Playstore.

Problems after installing CM12.1 nightlies

Hi everyone,
Today I installed the new CM12 nightlies, after rebooting my HTC one m8 it showed me a popup message that google play services stopped working. I also couldnt launch particular apps. So after looking for a solution I tried reinstalling Gapps hoping this would solve the problem.
I downloaded the minimal Gapps ZIP file and flashed it using TWRP recovery, after I wiped the cache and dalvik cache. Once rebooted I started to get the anoying pop up notifications '' Gmail stopped working'' and ''youtube stopped working''. These two messages won't go away and makes my phone unusable. I think the reason why these messages keep popping up is because i flashed the minimal version of Gapps so I downloaded the normal version of Gapps on my computer since my phone isnt accesable because of the pop-up notifications that won't go away. What I did next was plug in my phone to my computer and moved Gapps L-3-14-15.zip to my SD card and installed it again. I also wiped the cache and dalvik cache. after I did a reboot and everything seemed fine for the first 20 seconds... It didnt last long. Im still having the same problem as before Gmail and youtube has stopped working. Do any of you know how to fix this without doing a system recovery?
Thanks in advance

S-on (don't know if this is relevant)

To me it sounds like you installed a gapps 5.0 package not a 5.1 package. With the CM Nightly you need to make sure you're using an updated gapps package designed for android 5.1+.
I always use a minimal gapps package but usually CM has a link available on their page. Double check that you're installing a gapps 5.1 package. I am currently running the 5.1 nightlies and they're great thus far... 4/20 and 4/19 are both confirmable as working on my end. Good luck.
To correct Wipe /data /system /cache and dalvik reinstall the nightly and flash a 5.1 gapps package.

I guess the minimal Gapps package that I first installed wasnt for 5.1
In order to get rid of the pop up notifications I started my phone in safe mode. This worked and I saw there was a new update for cm12.1 after the update finished and I booted up my phone the pop up notification werent there anymore but google play services was also uninstalled. What I did next was installing the newest google play services pack. After it was done I installed the 5.1 Gapps version on my phone and now everything seems working fine again. I did get some notifications that an app such as chrome stopped working but a simple reinstal of the app fixed the problem. Somehow the apps that I moved to my external SD card arent here anymore but im glad I didnt have to do a factory reset.
Thanks for your help

every time i update my cm12 nightlies it has its own recovery (cyanogen recovery) but my zip files are not working with that recovery. (ex. cmzip.gapps, and kernels). for my device it works on PhilZ touch recovery. so the tendency is i have to flash fastboot boot.img(philz touch)again and again.
using Thunderzap kernel 4.15 im stock on bootloop.
running cm12.1 nightlies (4/20/15)
also gapps not compatible.

I use twrp and I've not had any issues with a cm recovery replacing twrp. On the 420 nightly I don't even see a recovery.img in the cm zip so I'm assuming you're updating via cm itself. I think there's a setting in there to choose to update cm recovery or not.
To flash Phillz recovery you're syntax would be "fastboot flash recovery recoveryimgname.img" the boot.img is your kernel. I'm not sure how many aosp 5.1 kernels the m8 has but I've not really been able to find any so I just use the cm one.
To correct your issues I would flash twrp 2.8.6 via fastboot flash recovery. Wipe everything from recovery (cache data dalvik system) and reinstall. If it was me I'd update cm via zip from now on if it was causing me these issues. Good luck

Everything seemed working fine again until 30 min. ago...
I got the notification chrome has stopped working. (Haven't had this message all the morning and chrome worked just fine.)
I restarted my phone and the first thing I noticed was that some of my apps have disapeared from my home screen, they are still in the app tray tho. Also my keyboard input mode has been set back to AOSP while normaly I use Swiftkey keyboard as my standard input. Chrome was still pushing me not working notification so I reinstalled chrome and now it works fine again. Not sure for how many time...
Its kinda anoying but maybe tonights nightlies will solve the problem somehow. If not, do you have any sugestions how to fix this?

Yeah I mean nightlys merge with code that it's being worked on and may break or fix certain things. Nightly builds may be perfect or they may not even boot. You kind of have to just flash them and see. Cm is very generic coding and depending on your carrier may not have the non open source vendor blobs necessary to make, say, your speakers work properly. It really depends. I don't believe Verizon had released their kernel source for lollipop so sometimes downgrading firmware to known source (ie 4.4.4) may help alleviate connectivity issues with Wi-Fi and things of that sort. Team UBs build and lollipop dream 5.0.2 have been my go tos as of late. The lollipop dream build is the smoothest running cm build I've ever used even on nexus devices. Very well made.
