Hey!
My question is: Can you connect a keyboard to the Galaxy Nexus through bluetooth? If so, any suggestions?
Thanks.
I have an HP bluetooth keyboard meant for the Touchpad that works just fine on the Nexus. Not sure about others, but the functionality is certainly there and it works great. Kind of felt silly typing on the keyboard for a text message, but it works.
My Freedom Pro worked in HID mode without drivers. Unfortunately I broke the power switch so I'm waiting on a cheap HID roll up keyboard from Amazon as I don't want to shell out for another Freedom Pro..
Interesting. How was coding on it? (if you did any)

Didn't really do anything strenuous with it tbh, I always found the Freedom Pro a bit small for comfy typing, hence trying a rollup next. When needs must i usually break out the Transformer...
Well the cheap silicone keyboard has arrived and works a treat with both Transformer and Galaxy Nexus - no drivers required for either.
It's a ricco (www.ricco.tv) purchased via Amazon for GBP £19.99 with free delivery, pairs as a Soniq CBT100.

shift key not working on bt paired keyboard on gn ics
i bought a bluetooth keyboard at fry's along with an mhl adapter and hooked up my gn to a tv. my magic mouse pairs and works beautifully but the shift key on the keyboard doesnt work.
the keyboard is a lower end, 35dollar, bt keyboard designed for ipad/phone pairing. everything works great except the shift key. i've read that its because the shift key doesnt 'stay on'. this makes sense except that the CAPS LOCK key does work.
this makes me wonder if i coule remap the caps lock to be the shift key, i never use caps lock anyway, and apparently that key has the 'stay on' function. although, then shift would stay on until it was pressedagain which is silly.
does anyone else have bt keyboard shift key issues. should i just go return this keyboard for an android one. i cant put a question mark otherwise i would..
I got the XOOM Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo for 40USD when Motorola had their New Year sale. Works wonderfully, then again it's an Android keyboard. My Nexus is always ready for some MHL tri-action.

I know this is an old thread but I've been Googling around and it just lead me here so here goes...
I've just bought a rollup keyboard, mouse and MHL from Amazon and so far so good.
The keyboard has a key with a little square in it that is presumably meant to be that annoying button on iPhone that doesn't do what Android users expect it to, and that is mapped on my nexus to the Home key.
There are plenty of other buttons (plus the Fn button) that don't do anything, so I figure I can edit the keymap to make a button for Back (aActually esc is back) Recents, Search etc. Then I can run in Expanded Desktop mode while it's on the telly.
Anybody able to give me any pointers?

does anyone know how to get punctuation to work??
hi everyone,
i am to hoping create an exhaustive list of bluetooth mice for the galaxy note. it will help everyone looking for one, and i think it would make a wonderful device for remote desktop sessions.
if anyone can list any models they can confirm to work i would be greatly appreciative. also, please list any you have tested which do not work, as this will help narrow down the search.
thanks in advance.

So which is it? "Reportedly working" or "confirmed working"? It's one or the other but it can't be both.
it has been confirmed to work by a user over at phandroid.
so I guess we will take his word for it =]
Confirmed working (on AOKP) -
Apple Magic Mouse, complete with scrolling gesture.
magic trackpad works
The mouse on the Logitech DiNovo Edge is working as well.

Edit: it works flawlessly

So do we have a list of bluetooth mouses that cab be mapped to all android functions on the gnote?
I am looking for a cheap one (maybe from ebay) that can perform all the android functions.
This guy states that his dell mouse can do it all (except for the home key):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEb-DICYCgg
Left mouse button = single press and hold to do long press
Right mouse button = back function
Wheel scroll = scroll/swipe up and down
Wheel button = Menu
? = Home
Any standard bluetooth mouse should work.
ie as long as you don't need to install proprietary mouse mouse drivers to use it in Windows, it should work on Android.
In regards to the right mouse click mapping to the back button, I believe they changed that with ICS.
In GB, right click used to map to the back button, but in ICS it no longer does. I presume that change was to allow applications to support the right click function.
I have a Buffalo BT Laser mouse BSMLB01.
It also has a back and forward button for back and forward in a web browser in Windows.
The back button maps to the back button on ICS.
The forward button doesn't seem to do anything.
The touch pad on the Rii mini also works fine.
Thanks for the info.
Yeah i have connected one from work before, but it has no Menu button mapped.
It is so useful so have it, instead of pressing the Menu button on the phone.
At work - I tested a Logitech MX laser (M-RBA97) mouse and it only has the Back function mapped - not the Menu button. It has so many other buttons, but none are usable.
There must be a mouse out there that can do all, Menu, Back, and maybe even search.
Or maybe an app that can remap buttons on common bluetooth mouses.
I am also looking for a bluetooth keyboard too, and would also need the Menu, Back, Home functions.
Wouldn't it be really informative, if we had a sticky post that listed all known and tested bluetooth devices and their pros & cons, purchase price & place, etc. ?
Everyone can just edit or add their findings to keep it updated.
Logitech have an Android keyboard that has back, home and menu buttons.

I was looking more towards cheap/ebay ones around $20... the mouse and keyboard are not critical but would be nice to have...
Office shops sell same ones for $40+ so a bit too much.
I think if i get a bluetooth keyboard with the F1, F2, F3, etc. function keys, it will do it all..
ESC = back
Menu (on right of the Space key) = Menu
F2 or F3 is Home
I dont think this kb has been reviewed here yet.. the F keys are secondary so its going to be a pain to press 2 keys every time..
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/26105960...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_7078wt_1224
There seems to be 2 key layouts on ebay for the same model/design.
I have Toshiba Bluetooth mouse which was working in GB 2.3.6, but I updated to ICS 4.0.4 and the mouse can not be paired. When I try to pair the mouse it gives me a pop up that I should enter a PIN to pair the device, but the mouse never wanted a PIN in GB 2.3.6 and was working good. The stock pins 0000, 1234 are not working either.
Logitech MX5000 Revolution Working
Hello all,
Have just tried my Logitech MX5000 Revolution bluetooth mouse and paired (with code 0000 ) straight away with the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 running stock rooted rom fine.
All buttons seemed to respond OK and mouse pointer was working fine.
Cheers.
You mean the logitech mx5000 has a button for Menu? or just single press and back?
thanks

And i have an A4Tech mouse that used to work fully with my Note N7000 while i was using the stock GB ROM. But now when i have upgraded to Stock ICS (i have tried 3 ROMs), It aint working fully. It gets paired and left mouse button and scroll button function properly but the right button aint functioning as Back; it is performing the same function as of left button i.e., selection.
Anyone knows what could have happened?
Anyone with the same issue?

Thats exactly what im facing with ICS ROMs.
But whats the point in changing it? It seems more like a bug bcoz without back, its functionality is far too limited.
Cant there be a MOD for that?

Hi,
I have the cheapest bluetooth mouse and keyboard going, so I'm not sure whats available in the high end. However I have notice that when navigating the SGS3 with a mouse I can not access any of the bottom buttons (menu, home, back). With the keyboard it is a bit easier since I can use the Esc key to control the back button. I'm not to worried about getting the home button, but I think it would be good to have access the menu button (bottom left). Sometimes I use a credit card stand and I'm a bit worried about knocking it over when I press the menu button.
Anyone know how to create a software version of the menu button? Or even better, does anyone know a keyboard or mouse trick to toggle it?
Cheers,
Stui
I found an App that will solve the problem

Ok, I went hunting around the Play Store and found 'External Keyboard Helper Pro' which enables the user to map whatever keyboard value to whatever Android function they want (and more). I was able to map the Home and Menu buttons to unused keys on the Bluetooth keyboard. I also discovered that Alt Tab switches tasks (but you have to touch or click the screen to stay on the task switch screen).
hope this helps anyone who is at this stage of PCing up their SGS3.
Sure helps. thanks mate.
I wish the same mapping can be done for the mouse, as most of the time i would use the mouse to navigate back and forth into and out of menus, currently i cant find a mouse that has a menu button and a home button.
If you click and hold you get the menu for an item, but not the main app menu.
Hi, by self-trying I've also discovered the following keys that work without any external software:
CTRL+ESC = Menu key
ALT+ESC = Home key
ALT+TAB = Task manager (briefly hit the two keys, then use arrows to select the app)
So, although after a year, you get your answer! :good:

Scroll wheel click is the Home button and right click is the back button. I can't find a way to do the Recents button, though.

Awesome. I had been searching for this for quite some time.
Is there a way to make the right click act as a long click instead? I have having to long click when you have a button performing functions that could be done in an easier fashion. Meanwhile, a true right click feature would be amazing.

All of the above is correct. Also, Mouse Button 4 (which normally maps to "Back" in the Browser) opens the recently opened programs view.
hi guys,
I am using a Bluetooth mouse with my note 8. The left mouse button works as expected, but I would like the right mouse button to work roughly as it does under windows. Is there a way to assign functions ( like copy/paste) to the right mouse button. Right now it will close a window if I press it.
Incidentally I am using both a Bluetooth and a USB keyboard( with the docking station) and many of the keys don't work as expected. For instance, the escape key will close a window. Is there a way to assign a function to a key?
bump
Hi guys,
Just giving this a bump. It has been here for a week and no reply. Please let me know if there is a better forum for these types of questions.
Last I tried my wireless mouse I had the same issues which I think are either android related or touchwiz implementation. So rightclick works as a back button however if you hold left mouse button for a while you should get the context menus or what ever you expect rightclick to do. Not ideal but works. In win7 I get same behaviour with my wacom tablet pen.
Sent from my GT-N5100 using Tapatalk
i think its an operation system issues , how to react on right mouse click.
i use a mouse on my n5100 when i need to connect rdp to my WIN7 desktop,
and there, right click works just fine.
i think, if you want to call context menu with right mouse button on android,
(which is done by long clickin), maybe try searching for apps that control those kinda functions.
I just got it today for only 30$ and it works really well and even has more functionality!
There is volume buttons that work,a REAL working back button as F1,the one button for recent apps as F3 (OTA needs to fix it to make recent apps always show up instead of stupidly clearing the list),and menu I=I is F4.
glad to know i bought it for 40 euro

it connect's via an tiny usb receiver so should work out of the box
Oops,I have a stub that connects it from the previous K400r keyboard I have, not sure if the stub alone fits correctly.
It is hard as the dickens to stick in there, but I got the stub alone hooked in and it still works fine.
The mousepad works like my K400r,but takes a little more to get used to.
I did as the picture instructions showed, and it works immediately.
I got mine at Best Buy for about 37$ tax-and-all including the 2 year warranty.
Right Click in Kodi
I have both the K400 and K830 keyboards, there is a issue I keep having with the Right Click mouse button in Kodi.
The Right Click mouse button normally acts as "Select" only and I must follow the selection with a "Enter" command to continue into the selection.
But if I select "Reboot" from the Nvidia Shield TV power icon, then after reboot the "Right Click" behavior changes to "Select & Enter" in one click, which is my desired behavior.
Problem is that to get this behavior can sometimes be elusive, because the reboot trick does not always work.
Anyone understand what is going on here ?????

When you connect the dongle it automatically detects it, no pairing or anything involved. Yes the trackpad works as well, you will see your mouse cursor just like on a regular pc/desktop.

Must be a "Leanback" thing because I loaded Full Android Marshmallow v1.2, and the keyboard right click is always "Select and Enter".
I've got the K830 as well and it works as well If you need backlighting. Don't really use it for Kodi though.
Hi everybody,
I am also using this keyboard with my Shield TV.
I just have three issues / questions:
1.) Can you adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad?
2.) Is there a way to zoom in with the keyboard while e.g. using chrome browser?
3.) sometimes the signal of the tiny usb receiver is bad. It hardly recognizes the mouse movements. Did someone else face this problem?
Thanks!
You can supposedly adjust it,but may need to hook it to a computer and get the right tool to change it if that actually modifies the internals of the keyboard itself, otherwise I hope they make an app for Android to allow changing the settings of it.
Double tapping with left click on webpages zooms in at least on Opera Browser,I hope Chrome is bearable to you since F1 is a REAL back button on K400 Plus.
That is a general issue with the signal, try moving the Shield TV by rotating it to make the receiver closer to facing towards you,I had to hook in my USB hub in the end to suspend it in the air,and it helps the signal a lot more,it was even harder to insert it there, but it works.
I got a male to female usb cable for the dongle/plug and faced it toward the couch. Works great now.
