Just got my Zenfone 2 and I'm liking it except when I go to add a google account, it doesnt give me the option to select and import Contacts. All the other check boxes are there except the Contacts checkbox, which means I can't sync my google contacts to the Zenfone 2. What gives?
I see that other people have had the same issue, anyone find a fix?
Thanks!

Hello,
When I go to my contacts and select the tab "All", well, my contacts aren't all there! I can only see them all browsing by group.
Have you got the same issue?
Are you using Google contacts? I sometimes experience this when a new contact has not been added to the "My Contacts" group. I don't know why, but you may want to check to see if that is the cause.
I'm using Google contacts indeed.
My Wife for example appears in Family and in Starred contacts but not in "All".
Assuming it's the same problem I faced, if you go to the Google Contacts website (Google's url followed by /contacts) you should be able to see your contacts in "All contacts", and then add them to "My contacts". Once your phone syncs they should appear in your phone's contact list.
That was it! Thank You
Hi all,
I am running a completely stock HTC Desire and I have a really strange annoying problem.
The problem is if I add a new contact, it adds the person, as when I am on "Phone" and tap the numbers to spell their name they appear.
Also if I go into google mail and contacts, I can see the contact.
What I cant see is the contact in the "People" application.
This is really frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I can fix this? Just to note, I am adding contacts setting them to my google group exactly the same as I have always done. Im not sure when this started to happen.
Thanks for your time.
When adding the contact via phone, are you ensuring the contact type at the top is a Google one?
When adding the contact via Gmail, are you ensuring the contact is added to teh 'My Contacts' group?
Try this...
Go into your Contacts.
Hit your Menu key and select Display Options.
Select your GMAIL account.
Make sure there are checkmarks in each of the lines, especially "All Other Contacts.
Click Done.

Hi All,
The Defy has what my google account contacts sync"ed" seem okay., now I hve many contacts in the Defy which is fine.
However, when I manually add contact within my Defy, it shows me "saved okay" but the contact I made is not seen from anywhere afterwards in the Defy., nor in my google account in gmail dot com/contact
I tried & tried & tried again, no hope. The Defy kept say "SAVED" but it couldn't be found from anywhere in the Defy the contact I manually added. Just like I never add one.
See if any solution from you guys. Thanks much. edmond
For me there are a few “annoying” things with adding contacts on the DEFY. I recently had to return mine due to the earpiece failure, so the following may be slightly off because I am working from memory
1) By default a new contact will be added to ALL accounts. For me this meant that each name would be added to 4 accounts (AOL, Exchange, Blur and Tmo). I believe the setting to change this is in contacts. You need to un-check the accounts that you do not want a new contact added to. UNFORTUNATELY, you cannot un-check the Blur account I would add a contact, then “un-link” the contact so I could delete the Blur contact and keep only gmail contact...
2) New phone contacts for any account other than Blur are “hidden”. Again setting under contacts will prompt you to select which contacts you want to un-hide.
3) New gmail contacts are not saved under “my contacts”. You may see that they show up under “other contacts” when viewing your gmail account on a PC...
Hi guys,
Sorry if this issue has already been posted. I've done some quick search and didn't find any effective solution.
My Galaxy Nexus is on stock 4.0.4, latest build available. I have three accounts set up on the device:
- Gmail 1
- Gmail 2
- Skype
I want only the contacts from account Gmail 1 to be shown in the People app and the contacts tab in the Phone app. I've tried everything. The standard setting where I select only contacts from the desired account to be shown doesn't work as it should. Once I quit the app and open it again, all contacts from the three accounts are shown. I also tried to remove all accounts and set them up again, no effect.
I am trying to avoid a factory reset. Is there any other option you guys can think about? Any setting that I may not know about?
Thanks in advance.
Is there an option to save contacts in the Google account by default? I saw a lot of suggestions but none of them works. Every time i add a contact it's back to 'phone' by default.
It only defaulted to phone with me the first time. Has defaulted to Google ever since.

I have the same problem. I came from Samsung Galaxy and i think it remembers where did I save contact last time.
Quick test looks to me like the default save contacts location that comes up is the last one you used.
So save to Google contacts once and next time that's the default.
Pretty old thread but anyway. I have same problems regards to contacts. Even if my first saved contact is on google, for next one it asks me again to save it on phone. Any idea how to change that?
Same here. Any solution?
Any solution please? I have the same problem. It doesn't matter where you saved the last time, it will always save to "Phone contact".
Thanks.
You might try deleting (from the phone), and then re-adding, your Google account.
Hello, i tried everything that was suggested, so far i lost dozens of contacts when upgrading to android 5.0 because i was used to saving them on my google account.
Is there any way of making the google account the default save location for the contacts on the Android 5.0 ? Is there an app that does this?
- Already tried removing and adding the google account
- Cleared data from phone and contacts app
- Show only google account contacts.
- Saving a contact on the google account and rebooting, or adding a contact on the google account and another after.
Every time i try to add a contact it defaults the save location on the phone.
When you are saving contact there is option to choose where you want to save it.
That option is missing only when you are saving contacts that someone has send them to you via Whatsapp. Then it is saved to phone memory.
Hello. I have the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
