Hi guys,
As I am more and more considering trying and eventually moving to some custom ROM like CM11/Carbon/Omni/Paranoid Andoird I just wanted to ask those of you, which are using these ones or just have been on them:
- Which one is most stable from your opinion
- Which one works smooth and have good battery life
- Which one have most tweaks*
*(in fact I was wondering which of them are having the Active Display and also can they all use CM themes?)
- Are these ROMs infact better than the B708_RePack_BbN for example, that I am using now and is it worth it to go on one of them?*
*(As I am using Angel Kernel and I don't know if it is available for them???)
Thanks!
Common guys, someone must have some experience with that! Please, give some opinions!

Okay, so i've tried Omni, Paranoid, and CM11. None of them have battery life as good as the B708, stock roms in my experience have the best battery life. The compatibility of themes and extras for CM11 is very good, and it is highly customisable due to the theme engine which is brilliant. Out of the three, Omni had the best performance for me. I don't think that any of the custom roms were faster than B708, maybe the menus were slightly faster but apps such as snapchat and facebook both performed just as badly on CM11 as they do on B708.
The custom roms are perfectly usable on a daily basis, remember to check the known bugs sections in the ops to see all of the bugs you might find. I do however think that with B708 huawei have made slight tweaks to performance and battery life that just make it an all together better option for our phone, and i enjoy the way the the EMUI simply fits with the hardware of the phone.
The work that the developers has done is amazing, but i think the best you can get from the very poor KV32 processor that huawei has made comes from B708 at the moment, so i would say stick to stock unless you really hate EMUI. Just my own opinion. Hope this helps

Sadly , NO! I'm using OmniRom for 1 year, it has active display which is amazing, But it has no theme engine. of course you can install xposed modules to theme your device, but they dont do theme your device as well as CM theme engine.
Battery life is not good (mine about 18hrs of usual use without gaming).
i used omni Rom too but i dont know i keep allways coming back to stock roms. I used B511 with some tweaks and root for better optimazing. i had that rom for some time. now am using 708 repacked with KangVIP tools, its really greate. its very good Rom but it's not very good with battery life like B511.
i prefere using stock roms with root and some apps to get better performance.
sorry my english am better Reading than writing.

Try HYD52ROM_V7, I think it's the best rom with battery performance, and it's a good rom. Try it and tell us what you feel.

hi,
Been looking all over the development forum looking for a custom rom gingerbread for DHD. No idea which one is good, any suggestions? thanks in advance.
Hi,
"Good" is subjective. Some prefer slim ROMs with minimal installed apps, performance tweaks, and stripped down services. Some prefer proven and tested builds for utmost stability, sacrificing some neat new features others have access to. Some prefer full-fat ROMs with nifty apps, enhanced UI appearance, and a fully enabled device with maximum usability, sacrificing responsiveness.
Which ROM you think is "good" is for you alone to decide. Try one, if you don't like it, try another. If you can flash one, you can flash them all. Give them a go.
HTH.

As of now theres only 2 viable versions to consider, either CM7 Nightlys from Cyanogen Team: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
or the CM7 Nightlys Modified with minor tweaks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918639
Both are still in development so no support yet, flash at own risk

a good rom for me is the one the will not crash and don't damage the phone by overclocking in summer time
Hello everyone,
first post since I got a Note 2... and I really like this phone... people seem to have a laugh at me since it is on a larger side, but then I have my own laughs when i see them trying to properly view web pages etc...
I have decided to go the custom Rom way, however, I would like some help.
I would like to have a decent ROM which gives good battery life and decent performance....my usage is pretty normal, email, Facebook, browsing, etc, not much games... so the ROM does not need to be performance oriented.
Any tips please on where to start... Tried searching here, but got a bit mixed up...
I like the stock looking TW Roms and would like Snote and the basic stuff such as calendar etc..
also which kernel would be suggested with this ROM.
Any help will be appreciated I know that I will have to try some ROMS to see which is best, however any help will save me a lot of flashing ROMS, kernels etc..... I know that usage is dependant on user patters etc, but some direction will be appreciated.
Many thanks to all...

There is a bit of debate on which kernel to us... if you have practical experience on this, any idea which is best please?
In two days this thread will be closed. There is no a rom better than other.

sorry about that... understand that all roms are good...
just asking for practical experience in usage.
you can just delete it now if you wish.... I guess i have to flash each one and see which works best for me..
sorry for the trouble...

You must have misunderstood me...
I want opinions on a custom rom (with all the benefits of a custom rom) that gives good battery life... not one which improves battery life...
been flashing many roms so far and all of them are good and yea battery life depends on your usage, before i use aosp rom specially slimbean, the only reason i use aosp because it doesn't have any lag for me, not for games but generaly everything. even i use stock and rooted samsung rom i got lag wheb browsing even just the settings when sliding it down and even the gallery and messaging, it's just a slight lag. but after trying omega v18 rom it doesn't have and im surprise coz i dont have to use aosp rom with some minor bug and now im happy using samsung custom rom with no lag and enjoying all stock features. so battery is not a problem really on our note 2 just pick whatever that gives better performance. but whatever it's your personal taste on what rom do you want.

cheers... will also try the ROM you mentioned... and thanks... it has to be a TW Rom ideally as i like the interface.... plus some of the samsung apps I use, so will to have those....
its normal to be concerned about battery life
amongst stock sammy roms the battery performance is also going downhill unfortunately, MG1 being the worst,
taking cue from tamirda i went for mf2 and the best one i feel was the chinese release, but it has chinese bloat and no play store,
its malaysian version is defintely one for keeps
me6 is also better than mg1
i like to root with cf auto -root and use xposed framework for customisation so i can stay on an odexed rom.....
tamirdas mf2 custom rom v13 will give a good combination of customisations, rooted deodexed experiences and battery life.
i wish someone would make a rom on the chinese mf2
i also love aosp and its looks and features but battery wise -- well im still testing with various kernel/rom combinations on 4.3
If you have a 7105. Then I'd recommend Jedi x17 with the newest saber kernel. Battery for me is better than stock. It also comes with nice eye candy and a lot of built in goodies.
But to each their own

Hey, I'm looking for a ROM that has the following features:
- NO bugs
- Must be stable, very fast, and good battery life
- It can be any version (4.1.2 up)
- Must be rootable and without knox
(I saw cyanogen team made a kitkat rom for note 2..how is it?)
Currently I have 4.3 deodexed, pre rooted, deknoxed rom with note 3 spen features but it is slow, has relevant bugs, and it crashes often.
I looked in the android dev section but there are too many rom and I dont know if they have the feature I'm looking for.
Thank you!
There's no such thing as 'bug free Roms' especially for custom Roms since even the ROM developed by the manufacturer has bugs in them.
But if you want to have a 'stable' ROM, you might want to stick to 'stable' or RC aka release candidate. These Roms should have noticeably lesser bugs than nightlies even though nightlies are quite usable as daily drivers. 'Fast and longer battery life' - Disabling animations and other unnecessary widget and apps like halo will make a ROM faster with longer battery life. Customs Roms are all rooted and knox free.
I'm currently using PAC rom and on a good day I'm able to make it last for about 14 hours or more depending on usage. CM is a no frills type of ROM. It should be fast and decent enough when it comes to battery life but its quite subjective and varies from person to person.

yes there are no 'free bug' s rom but you can find the best one for you. for me is Omega.:good:

Try Illusion. It's wicked fast and amazing battery life. (Use plasma kernel, stweaks and undervolt. Makes it even faster.) No known bugs. (Except for the thousands I'm experiencing that no one else has.)
P.S. there isn't a ROM with 0 bugs. (Even stock has bugs.)
Smack that thanks button If I helped!

Did you go through the Ditto Note 3 (DN3) page??
Suggest you give it a shot. However, please confirm the compatibility with your device.
Agree with all above comments regarding the bug thing. But IMHO I thing Slimbean or Slimkat are really good choices, if you are looking for AOSP, that is. If you are looking for TW roms, Jedi roms are, again, IMHO, the most stable out there. All of them had good battery life and are speedy too....

Well there are many other tweaks for an optimized battery life, which can be managed even without a custom rom
Hello to you all,
i bought recentely a g3 D855, and am having some battery draining issue, is it normal? and by the way witch rom do you suggest me to install
Thnx to you all
Interested if someone made some tests about popular roms
for me, cloudy 2.2 is the best
For me is AN 10.2 but this rom is not available in XDA (but is the best, by far)
Anyway, every user have different demands so, the best rom for me do not necessary mean is the best rom for you.
there's no best rom. all are equal and yet different in their own types. it all depends on the user. try them all pick what you most like.
and threads like this is not allowed here in XDA. no to roms/ bias
In general, you have to choose between AOSP ROMs and stock ROMs. AOSP ROMs are stock-like android versions which have neat tricks up their sleeves. They are super-light on the system(meaning it's lighting fast), you get newer versions faster, the community is bigger and you get to customize it more freely, but the cons are that the camera doesn't have the same quality as the stock ROMs and there are some missing features which are kinda-unique to our phones.
AOSP ROMs best advatage for me is the battery life but although that sounds awesome, I prefer to have all my features and especially the camera. Therefore I am still stuck with Cloudy 2.2 .
After using CM12 for a few months, I finally installed cloudy and I'm very happy. I couldn't stand the annoying bugs of CM anymore (mainly the screen which doesn't respond at random times) and it's nice to have all the native features of the G3 (nice camera, knock code...).

MIUI will give u the best fluidity
Battery life are pretty much the same
Antutu is pointless
Most ROMs have everything working
If you're all set you might as well test them, just remember to format data if going from MIUI to custom otherwise it will bootloop

Coming from Zuk. Z2 I'm not a newb to flashing but I haven't heard anything but issues on most ROMs I've looked at... Newer phone so makes sense but I wanted to more establish if there was stability and which ones are in fact more stable...

That's been the normal state of custom ROMs on the last few phones I've owned including the supposedly development friendly One Plus 5. I think the problem is that custom ROMs are rarely maintained by people who actually use the ROM and device as their daily driver. You can't make a good ROM for a phone you aren't even using so the ROMs always have bugs that the devs aren't aware of until users report them. There was only one One Plus 5 ROM that didn't have bugs and it was also the only custom ROM by a developer who actually used the phone everyday. One of the ROM devs for this phone even admitted that he wouldn't consider using his own ROM on his primary phone which pretty much says it all.

I have been using LineageOS Unofficial for a couple of months, and now the official for over a month. Everything just works. Things are smooth, and works real nice without any of the wonkiness I had with MIUI. I always struggled a bit to make MIUI work like I wanted. Then again, I greatly appreciate a stock-ish experience. I am even running Substratum.
