Not sure if its a problem with the 3rd party application or a problem with latest update, but photography apps still cant write to the SD card, any ideas on how to fix?
Thanks
If you have Xposed installed and working, there's a module to solve this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/kitkat-sd-card-access-t2790992
Otherwise, you can do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44370296&postcount=357
Just install SDFix from Google Play run it and you are done. Worked here also version for 4.4.4

Unfort, dont have root accesss (not sure how), though not sure why sony would block this from lolipop features
This is an good and reliable way to get root access on your Z1C.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...ck-rooting-stock-lollipop-14-5-0-242-t3085888
ANd you're right. On Lollipop, a few things (still?) aren't working the way they should. So for now, getting root access, getting Xposed, getting your SD card to work properly, you have to work to make it happen

Why is everything complicated not sure if this will be worth it tbh, cant flash due to not in ABD mode, which is new to me
I have to agree. If you compare our phone out-of-the-box with Lollipop with the way it could work after some adjustments, it sure looks like it almost isn't a finished product. And as a matter facts, I can only guide you a bit through what to do after it's out of the box
So, if you want to get it working, this is how I did it. Be sure to have a working backup of your important stuff, just in case...
** USB Debugging On.
You should go to your Settings -> About phone and enable developers options by click a few times on your build number.
In Settings -> Developer options tick USB debugging
In Settings -> Security enable Unknown Sources.
** ADB connection.
Install flashtool on your pc. You can find it following this.
Install latest USB drivers for your pc. You can find them following this.
Install adb/fastboot, using this tool.
This way, you should be able to connect your Z1C to your pc using the flashtool and/or adb and/or fastboot.
You can check if it's working in flashtoo - devices - check drivers. It gives me this:
Code:
25/041/2015 13:41:14 - INFO - List of connected devices (Device Id) :
25/041/2015 13:41:14 - INFO - - USB\VID_0FCE&PID_51A7&MI_01\6&25749C4A&0&0001 Driver installed : true

** Root device.
If you follow this guide, you should be able to root your device.
More info about XZDualRecovery: here.
So once you've followed all these steps, you have a Z1C with lollipop, rooted (latest SuperSU and with a good recovery setup (XZDualRecovery). It should be comletely connectable with your pc, and flashtool will be able to tell you if your root is working properly. It gives me this:
Code:
25/041/2015 13:41:07 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging on
25/041/2015 13:41:08 - INFO - Connected device : Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

25/041/2015 13:41:09 - INFO - Root Access Allowed
** Install XPosed Framework.
Everything about Xposed for Lollipop you can find over here.
But it should be too good if it all works without any effort You need to flash another zip to avoid bootloops. This is your extra homework to make Xposed work on Z1C.
I hope this helps. If you have problems with the installation of anything I mentioned, please read the threads I linked to I'm just a simple user, these people know much more about the ins and outs.
If all of this is working, I would advice to flash to recovery AGAIN and make another backup of your setup.

Problem is, I've had the same problem. As far as I remember, it was because the USB drivers weren't properly installed. But I can't remember how I solved that problem.
(I only had to make a small adjustment in my windowssettings, with Win 8.1 Advanced Startup Settings, that's all I remember)

Hi,
I've searched and found a few threads with information, but I'm unable to make any progress with resolving my issue of a bricked phone due to SEUS 2.3.3 update. The phone is unlocked and rooted. The update process started but didn't finish and no on-screen instructions came up so I assumed it hadn't worked, but the phone won't turn on since.
I'm trying to use binary's flashtool to resolve the bricking issue, however I'm unable to make any progress as the device drivers are incorrect. I've uninstalled them and tried to re-install manually and automatically and both of these methods fail.
I'm using the same desktop running windows 7 which I originally used to unlock/root the phone successfully but windows is now saying the S1 BootLoader device driver cannot be found or installed despite having the correct files on the computer and trying several times.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Driver problem resolved.
Problem Flashing below:
19/053/2011 12:53:47 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
19/053/2011 12:53:47 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
19/053/2011 12:53:47 - INFO - Then go to application settings
19/053/2011 12:53:47 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
I'm unable to turn the phone on (the green light will flash for a second at around 1/2 normal brightness). Debugging and unknown sources were on when the phone was working before the update but I presume the update has changed this.
Is there any way for me to resolve the issue?
1.) You are using the right package?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358
This package was updated, so please re-download to be sure you have the right package.
2.) if this doesn't work, please be sure that you don't use a USB-HUB etc. If you use a desktop PC i advice to use the BACKSIDE usb ports.

I had that problem flashing Xperia Neo. I uninstall all Adobe Flash Player and install last version and X10Flashtool worked ok.
I bricked my phone today. But it's solved now. I used Jarpelea's unbrick pack. I use fastboot instead of flashtool because I find that it is easier.

@007Arc: You cannot do THIS restore via fastboot! you really need Flashtool, because you have to write the TA!

Ah k, thought he had same problem like me, sorry then.
Ok, i've read and tried some method posted here but so far no luck. Got stuck at step 5 with a lot of errors. Since I could not read anything, i didn't even know what the heck i did wrong. So i decided to bit the bullet. I've heard that rooting the Acro S and the Xperia is the same, only needs different files. So I use the method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742992 combine with the 2.3.7 SO-03D and 4.0.4 Acro S files. I've rooted my Acro S successfully.
So to sum it up:
You need:
Rooting kit: http://www.mediafire.com/?o1v2o6afuoc1w33
Flashtool 0.9.0.0
The Acro HD (SO-03D) 2.3.7 files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710051
The Acro S 4.0.4 file: http://ul.to/zk8odftj Mirror 1
Link for whole pack: http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/AVQRKL0J/acro.7z_links
Prepare:
(1) Application Settings: [Unknown sources] checked {Allowed}
(2) Application Settings: Development [USB debugging] checked {Allowed}
(3) Application Settings: Development [Stay awake] checked {Allowed}
(4) Settings -> Display settings [Screen timeout] Set to 30 minutes
*If your screen goes off just once then you won’t be able to return to the installation properly. Very important!!
Please think about your battery and try to keep the display brightness to a minimum.
(5) Please use a regular picture for the background. Do not use the default live wallpaper.
(6) Charge the Xperia S’s battery to 80%.
How to:
- Turn off the Acro S. Prepare to flash the 2.3.7 file: check all of the Wipe column, uncheck the rest.
- Plug in the Acro S while holding the volume down. Wait for the flashing to be completed and close Flashtool
- Turn on the Acro S. Connect it to computer via USB with USB debugging mode on.
- Run step1.bat
- Flash 4.0.4 files using Flashtool, don't wipe anything, also check no final verification. Close flashtool after finished.
- Turn on the Acro S. Connect it via USB.
- Run Step2.bat
- You should get a lot of messages like "pushing SuperSU" and the phone will reboot during this process.
- Enjoy full root

I found this mirror which looks like the same file (I can't post links yet so this is the best I can do):
4shared [dot ] com/file/1cS7w_NF/SO-03D_60A512_docomo.html
Can't confirm as I couldn't get the links in the other thread to work either, but the file name is the same.
All the provided links are still working. I really want to upload them to another host for you guys but my connection is really slow and unstable when it comes to uploading.

You missing the ADB drivers.
This can be found in the Flashtool folder "C:/FlashTool/Drivers"
Install All drivers related to ACRO HD . Acro HD Drivers would work for the Acro S as well.
Try again after that.
Note: you need to close FlashTool properly to make the .bat files run smoothly. To do this:
On FlashTool (1st tab) Click on exit. Run the .bat files after that.
Also note that, you need to macke sure you device is running in , USB DEBUGGING MODE, MSC USB TRANSFER MODE AND UNKNOWN SOURCES Must be activated as well as STAY AWAKE. 30mins stay inactive before locking.
Wallpaper isnt compulsory.

Of course mate, i've rooted 2 acro so with this method. You'll get SuperSU instead of Superuser, which is, IMO, better.

WHy would you need to flash the 2.3.7 HD file to the arco S?
Because the exploit only work on the 2.3.7. Which is the same for bith acro s and acro hd. Maybe there is a way to root ICS directly but I don't know.

Hi there !
Im trying to root my videotron (c6506) xperia zl with flashtool. (locked boot) I have installed the latest sdk, drivers, pc companion etc...
The computer and flashtool have no problem seeing the device. Phone have usb debug on and unknown sources ticked. But whenever im trying to root, it asks to hit restore but there is nothing to restore. If i bypass the process continue until the display option appears. I click on display, then i wait... nothing ever happens. The phone stays on this state.
i tried flashing a stock rom too, but then it ask to unplug device and hold back button etc, (says error peripheral doesnt recognize command) doesnt work either.
Ive tried another method, the script by doom. It says invalid path.
tried both on pc and mac. Same story.
Little help please ?
Also its says that device isnt unlockable or rootable ?? any way around this ?
****EDIT
ok i got the stock rom to flash right. Finally. But there is an icon like 2 blue screen in notification saying : all checkpoint reached. And it wont go .. And no more developper options... ;(

Go over to the ZL forum or try Doomlord rooting kit it works on most Xperia devices... Ps don't have any thing running on the background while rooting
Dont have anything running in background neither on phone or comp. And i tried bin4 n doomlord too. Failed. Sometimes flashtool gives me a line when i connect the phone : non rootable. Sometimes it says it is rootable and lock icon is avail. (but still fails) Wtf... Pretty sure my carrier messed with it to give their users trouble unlocking and rooting. Device also says unlockable boot.
I dont care bout unlocking or not, i just want the root and cwm
I flashed stock 4.2.2 tru flashtool so there must be something i can do... (certainly hope)
I wounder if someone else with same device and carrier have some problems...
Thanks for the feedback guys

You cant unlock your bootloader...... Thats the truth of it but to download download your driver install sony update service... P.s you dont need an unlocked bootloader to root with Doomlord rooting kit... The driver is the reason your device is not rooting

What you need the most is the adb drivers for root access fastboot is for kernel changes... Post a pic of what the rooting tool says
Ok Will do. Im gonna talk with my carrier to make sure and will retry later with pics.

at least i know my device is not hardlocked (in other terms screwed) I entered 7378423 and simlock option. My device is network locked but i have 5 remaining tries to unlock.

Hi mate, I don't want money hehehe
This method worked for me (I'm on .21 firm):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-18-1-1-21-t2889847/post56532112#post56532112
This method is for people who are on 18.1.A.1.21, which is a newer version than yours, but you can use it anyway.
Do the step 1. (these drivers are necessary)
Ignore step 2. (you're on .14 firmware, the rootable one)
Do as step 3 says: "Active USB debugging and Install apps from unknown sources."
To enable USB debugging:
- Go to settings>about.
- Scroll to "build number" and tap it 7 times. (you'll see an alert showing 'you're now a developer' or something like that.
- Go back to Settings menu and now you'll find developer options near 'About'
To enable unknown sources:
- Go to Settings > security > unknown sources (enable it)
ignore step 4 (you're already on .14 kernel)
ignore step 5 (that happens when you swap the kernel, not the case)
Connect your phone to your computer (make sure there's no lock screen, keep it awake) and do step 6 (download the rootkit and run install.bat)
It will reboot.
Done, you have SU installed and working!
Of course I'm not responsible of any damage, but it should work as I told you.
Good luck!
thank you i will try this
just says daemen started successfully and nothing else. **** this phone -.-

Looks like USB debugging is not working properly...
When you connect your phone to the computer, do you see a message in your phone to accept the USB debugging connection?
yes i do it says usb debugging successfully connected or something like that
Hey I'm new here,I have sony xperia t3 but when I go to root checker it shows : this device doesn't have root access, how can I get root access? Please help, Thank you anyway.
According to XPERIAblog, now we're able to use Flashtool for our device.
Long-term Sony Xperia users will be very familiar with Flashtool, it has been the da facto method of flashing firmware of Xperia devices to a different region. It has been around since the advent of Sony’s Android Xperia phones, but support was not added for any of the 2017 Xperia devices.
However, Flashtool developer Androxyde has updated the application to version 0.9.24.2, which now includes support for the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. Do note though that this new version of Flashtool has moved from Java 8 to Java 9, so you will need to run a 64-bit operating system. If you want to download the new version, click here.

Gave my thanks there, although I first saw the news from the same source as OP as well and came here to find more info.
Great news ! Thanks !
Could someone help me understand what the advantages of Flashtool are over Newflasher? I used flashtool on my old z3c...but is there a good reason to switch if newflasher works well enough?

I think it's just nice and convenient because it's a one-stop shop for flashing xperia devices... it includes xperifirm and such, and has checkboxes for you to remove userdata.sin etc, so you don't actually have to go and do it yourself. Probably just preference and habit. If you're totally fine with newflasher I don't think there's any difference.
I've tried unsucessfully to download 9.24.2 version, can you tell me why ?
Nothing happen when i click on "Get it".

The "Get it" link links to the download page you're already on, of course "nothing happens".
You need to click on one of the 3 links with your OS description, like "Windows", then decide if you want to download via BT or file host.
OK thanks
My US version XZ1c arrived Wednesday afternoon and I'm fairly new to the whole flashing scene (unrootable Samsung phones and locked bootloaders all my Android life, yay....), so forgive my stupidity. I've followed the guide on XperiaFirmware.com up to part C, which says to install drivers for Flashtool. I believe I've got Flashtool working right now, but I don't know what else I'm supposed to do. Are the drivers located somewhere not on the site, or are they included in the 47.1.A.12.34 folder from XperiaFirmware? I see it contains the newflasher program in there, but I don't understand what the other files are for.

In the install folder for the Flashtool should be a folder called Drivers. Inside that there is an .exe you should run that will install the drivers you need. When you run it you need to select the flashtool drivers from the option as well as the drivers for your model of phone, usually down towards the bottom of the list. If you are running Windows 10 then you will need to disable driver signature checking before trying to run this file. (boot into safe mode and look under advanced menu).
Download the firmware you want to install with Xperiafirm, put it in the flashtool firmware folder.
Run the program, slect the lightning bolt, select the firmware, press ok. It will then start building the image. Then it will ask you to connect your phone.
Make sure your phone is powered off completely. Then plug the USB in whilst holding the volume down button (the led should turn green), Flashtool will recognise the phone, you can let go of the volume button and let Flashtool do it's job.
Edit: having used both Newfalsher and Flashtool, I think Newflasher is easier, but you're already there now so you may as well carry on.

I went ahead with Newflasher since the guide is much easier. +1 Thanks
I recently used Flashtool to flash my USA-purchased XZ1C to the .75 Customised DE firmware, and the process was about as simple and straightforward as I can imagine. I also like that provision of the firmware locator is built-in to the Flashtool installation, and the downloaded firmware archive contains a script which puts everything into place for flashing. By default, all user data and settings appear to be maintained. The only thing that might be confusing is that the dialog that pops up indicating it's time to connect the phone only refers to 2011 and 2012 models (both X Compact and XZ1 Compact use the 2012 method). Otherwise, everything proceeds smoothly. Have others had similar positive (or negative) experiences with Flashtool?

So even the apps, data, etc. remains, like when you update OTA ? I am considering updating my (very outdated) firmware without waiting for it to come from Sony, but I don't want to reinstall and reconfigure everything.
@jeff9891
As I indicated previously, nothing seems to have been lost when I used flashtool to install firmware. Of course I can't guarantee that you'll have exactly the same experience, but I have updated both an Xperia xz1 Compact and an Xperia X compact and have not lost any data. In any case I would advise backing up with Xperia companion first.
Thanks, I'll try it this week-end and report, if no OTA update arrives beforehand.
I must be dumb, but I can't find XZ1C in the list in "Flashtool-drivers.exe". Flashtools thereforce recognizes some device is connected, yet it does not display the device's name like it is supposed to do so as far as I read in tutos (even if the program says "driver installed : true") :

Sharing some XZ1C flashing process tips for those who may have to cope with the same problems I did.
1) There are no XZ1C dedicated drivers in the drivers.exe that comes with flashtools. Just select the generic "Flashmode drivers" in the list. Still necessary to install them before flashing, though.
2) It is normal that flashtools does not display your device name in its consol as it was supposed to do so with previous phones models. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctqKNAzrKpQ
3) Xperifirm (= the program to grab your phone's latest stock ROM from Sony) is integrated into flashtools. Click the "XF" logo in the top bar, then find your model and download it. It will automatically make it usable in flashtools without fiddling with the files.
4) Follow the general tutorial for flashing: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343 . To enter flash mode with XZ1C, you can follow this tuto : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eid4PApHffg Be aware that your screen will stay black in this mode, but your LED will turn green.
5) Once you plug the phone in flash mode, again, nothing will happen on the phone's screen, but you can follow the flashing on flashtools terminal. Do not be surprised (as I was) if the program does not indicate "flashing completed" or something like that. Just leave the phone and the computer until you obtain this (took like 10 minutes for me):
Code:
09/023/2018 17:23:49 - INFO - Sending Sync
09/026/2018 17:26:01 - INFO - Sync status : OKAY
09/026/2018 17:26:01 - INFO - Sending powerdown
09/026/2018 17:26:01 - INFO - powerdown status : OKAY
09/026/2018 17:26:05 - INFO - Device disconnected
09/026/2018 17:26:06 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
Then you can just unplug it and turn it on.

Yes; one difference in my experience with flashtool might have been due to the fact that I had connected my XZ1C to my PC (Windows 10) using Xperia Companion first. I think that ensured that the proper Sony drivers would be in place before attempting to use flashtool. But I'm not sure.
In any case, I have restored the default USA firmware to the XZ1C, as using DE or UK, etc. seemed to restrict my ability to send group text messages (has to do with USA carrier protocols, I guess), and I don't need a fingerprint sensor at this time.

I also used Xperia Companion beforehand on Windows 10, but I had to add the drivers nonetheless. Unsure of the reason it worked for you here. Future flashers will know both ways, though
With Customized_DE (before and after flashing), fingerprint sensor still works for me. Not quite sure, but I believe there are legal restrictions about that in the USA ? As for group text message, I have not tried yet. You mean sending a text to multiple people, or having actual synchronized group discussion using texts ? I thought it was impossible.

What I meant was:
Sending a text (with or without image) to a group of people, and have everyone see everyone's replies.
This seems only to be possible (when used in USA on AT&T carrier) when I have the default USA firmware flashed onto the phone. If I use the DE firmware, for instance, I can send a "mass message" to multiple recipients, but then cannot attach an image, and all subsequent replies are private, i.e. between two parties.
