I'm on OptimusG3 V1.4.1 and can't stand the instability and lack of functional gps. Can I just flash any stock build? I think I'm on KVT

For the most stable result, I would recommend tot-ing to a stock version of your choice (ZVE[most recent], ZVD, ZVB, ZVA, ZV8, ZV7). Make sure to backup any important files and data to a pc before doing this, because it will be lost.
Use this thread and remember to follow all instructions to a T, otherwise you could brick your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
You will have to re-root and re-flash recovery after doing this with the same method you did originally to flash optimusg3 rom.

Hi Everyone,
I'm currently rocking Wicked ROM v5 with SaberN3Kernel_10.7 on Android 4.3 and I have a few questions that I searched around for but couldn't find clear answers.
When I'm ready to upgrade to KitKat or whatever version is out by then, can I just use OTA update from T-Mobile or do I need to flash the stock ROM myself using ODIN?
If I ever wanted to flash a new custom ROM or a stock ROM would I still have Saber Kernel or would it get overwritten by whatever the new ROM came with?
Thanks In Advanced,
Art

1. If you are running g a custom ROM you will need to download the official version from sammobile.com and then flash using odin. The OTA does not work if using a custom ROM.
2. When you upgrade to 4.4 you will loose root and your kernel. It's just as easy to root 4.4 as it was 4.3. If you have a custom kernel and you flash a new ROM most of the time you are given a choice if you want to flash their kernel or not. If it does flash their kernel you can always reflash the one you want. Just as a side note, if you upgrade to 4.4 make sure your kernel is built for 4.4.

It's not unusual for that entry in the build.prop to be blank, and shouldn't cause issues. I think the default there should be '11 11', though having it blank should be fine (pretty certain).
> Working perfect on stock based rom
Which roms are you flashing that are giving you problems? Many of the e980 roms are bugged out in various ways, maybe it's just a quirk of the one(s) you flashed? I had a similar problem recently, wifi just would *not* stay enabled, would not behave. I don't remember which rom it was though; I flash too much.
You've flashed the Kitkat 20g modem, yes? If all else flails, you could always flash back to Kitkat stock and start over, that's guaranteed to tell you whether its a hardware or software problem (if it persists after that: hardward, got to be).

Booyah: E980 20g Kitkat TOT.
Also, with Lollipop roms, I don't think any of them are totally stable or functionally 100% yet, so that's not a place to go if you want stuff to work. There's plenty of nice Kitkat roms like PAC-rom or Carbon-Rom is you want stability and want for your phone to work fully (but thats no fun! ).

Yoink.
^-- Freegee never lets me in unless I flash the Sphinx GPro Recovery CWM recovery first. Once that is done, it's all good.

Oh, no, you misunderstood: you don't use the CWM, you only install it and then quickly install *over* it with one of Freegee's recoveries. Never use the Sphinx CWM, as you'll get errors when you go to flash roms. You only insatll the Sphinx CWM so that Freegee will recognize your device and function, it's only a stepping stone to Freegee, not a recovery you should use on its own.
And, in light of recent developments on the TWRP 2.8 front, I'd say give that a try instead. It mounts your external SD just fine. THe only things I've flashed with it are BlissPop builds and Gapps, but all without an issue yet. Go for the one with the Play theme and enjoy its gorgeous colors.
Thanks buddy.. Freegee recognized my device and installed cwm succesfully

New here Looking for guidance on rooting and stable roms
Rooting?
CF-Auto Root. Sprints NIE works on KK NK2 and LP OB7.
TWRP2 for recovery. Search TRLTE and choose Sprint version.
Stable ROMs. Check android dev section. As stable as any of them can get, its all up to the users on how they use their device.

Absolutely yes. If you flash a stock touchwiz rom then all original apps & features work just like original out of the box. If you flash a custom Cyanogen mod rom or other AOSP rom, then expect issues as these type of roms do not include all of the original samsung features, apps, etc. I'm assuming you want to remain on the stock Sprint Samsung rom so visit this thread and flash one of those stock roms first. But before you begin, you will need to read up on how to root your phone and flash the TWRP recovery. You must flash a custom recovery before you can flash a stock or custom rom. Just look around in the development forums and you will find all the information you need.
tx_dbs_tx, I'm in the same boat w/ 4.4 currently installed.
From what little I've read I'm thinking 5.0 might be a wait (reports of memory leak & battery issues) in hopes that 5.1 will be a better option as I don't have time to fight with those kind of issues right now.
My plan was to root 4.4 and stay there for the next few(?) months.
Am I misinformed?
Thanks!
Its been a fewyrs since i last rooted a device ( Evo4gLTE) and Im having issues trying to root my Note 4. Installed Lollipop only because I found multiple sources saying it can be rooted with lollipop, but everytime i try to use autoroot , which i got from this forum, Odin regognizes but wont flash when i hit start. Should I go back to KK and try again?? Maybe im doing something wrong but I watched videos and re read the tutorials and no luck. Ive checked and double checked im using the right md5 file . Help??

Thank you I rooted. I used Cm12 seems not to be as many roms on here as I am accustomed to seeing been using htc for my last 2 phones. Thanks for the insight.
As it is right now, I don't see any custom roms or deodex stock roms that match OE2. I'm already rooted, so it seems like I can't update to any of the 5.1 roms, so I'm trying to find one that's based on OE2, or something closely compatible that I can flash over OE2 without issues.
At the very least, I'd like to find a way to properly deodex my current rom so I can use certain mods and themes and try to get Xposed working on my device.
Why are you posting this in the Dev section? Learn how to properly use the forums first, then you can think about posting something.
You can easily use Odin to get to any firmware.
Download the OF7 stock tar (links all over the place, search a little), flash with Odin, OTA to OH1, then you can use any of our wide selection of 2 ROMs.
Lol and Edge 925P roms. Just make sure to flash Unikernel after.

Hi,
Now I'm running stock v30c rooted by king root and hacer permissivo(one of the method available on xda). I've flashed twrp by autorec.
My question is:
Should I know something before flashing custom rom? I read somewhere that some of roms need v21c modem, and other have no information about it. But I'm not sure if I should flashing this.
Basically I'm thinking right now about custom stock based roms.
One more, I see that some roms supporting CTT(AFAIK it's something about keep the phone cooled, am I right?). Is it supported by every kernel? Including stock one?
I'm coming from G2 and there were quite easier with everything .
Thanks for every answer.

If you are planning to flash stock based roms you don't need to do anything else including flashing the baseband. Only aosp based roms need 21C baseband. So if you flash a aosp based rom remember to flash 21C along with it.
The ctt mod works on most kernels including stock but you don't necessarily need to use it until when you feel uncomfortable temperature.
