The Camera Issues - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I'm aware there are problems with the M9 camera but looking at mine I can't tell if the problems really are that bad or if I have a bad model.
Are the any decent fixes so far? I'm aware there is a newer build version ( 1.32.651.30 - that include thermal issues and camera fixes ) that those on Android Revolution can't update via OTA yet. Will these be coming to ARHD soon? Anyway to update to this?
The main problems I have is that the images are FAR too soft. This is effecting both the front and back cameras and the images are not crisp like the M7. I don't quite understand why so many are having problems. Is everyone else having these massively soft images? (It's like it's smoothing over the image to reduce noise but it just looks awful and like a 6 year old phone camera)
Thanks

Goto setting then adjust contrast and other details.

LG G3 D851, CyanogenMod, Camera quality is much lower than stock Android

I flashed my G3 to have the latest (when I flashed it) CyanogenMod (Version: 12.1-20151023-NIGHTLY-d851 ). Since then, I've been loving my G3. However, I'm having some problems with the camera. I've tried the default camera app CM uses, and then with OpenCamera. My pictures are just generally very low-quality compared to stock Android.
I've tried: Bumping up the image quality in Open Camera's settings. (settings -> photo settings -> Image Quality)
Waiting longer for the camera to focus.
Double and triple-checking the resolution. (Images are correct resolution, but are blotchy and/or fuzzy.)
It doesn't seem to be any of those, but I'm fairly new to the Android crowd.
I will provide photos for comparison, but not of the same object. (I haven't taken photos of much more than my cat, so bear with me.) Both before and after installing CyanogenMod, pictures of my cat turn out lower-quality than of other things. This may be because of a noise algorithm that has issues with fur, but what do I know? Seriously, I'm super new.
Here's an Imgur album (Two pictures): imgur (dot) com /a/AxAhT
I know Imgur compresses images or whatever, but the difference is pretty clear. I couldn't find anything else I had taken pictures both before and after installing CyanogenMod. I have a picture of gummy worms from before, but that doesn't help without an after.
Any other relevant questions, I can probably answer.
Go on apk mirror and search CyanogenMod camera (the one plus one ) it works perfect (good quality ) after try flashing Androidcid-MOD-G3_20150511_V11-SPARTAN.zip and choose your aroma.
From what I understand stock camera is better because of proprietary files that are not present in CM. So if camera quality is a priority, stock is the way to go. I love CM Official, but I'm trying out stock based roms for this reason.

This makes a lot of sense, actually. Camera quality isn't a huge priority. I rarely use it, and am going to get a GoPro fairly soon. I just wasn't sure what was causing the issue. I love CM too much to give it up for better quality photos.
Semi on-topic: With this Nightly build of CM, my phone seems to shut down at random (though fairly rarely), and become unresponsive. I have to remove the battery and re-insert it before I'm able to power on my phone. This didn't happen with stock Android, so I'm fairly certain it's a CM thing. Is it that the Nightlies are generally unstable? Is there a stable version I can switch to?
Would I be able to copy my current 'data' folder (apps and their sign-in info, as far as I can tell) to the stable CM version and cut out all the extra setup time of re-downloading and signing into my apps?
I have a love/hate relationship with CM. On one hand it's buttery smooth when it works, but frequent (for me) random reboots kill it. They always seem to happen at the most inopportune times. I haven't been able to find an AOSP rom that doesn't have this symptom either.

Problems with camera focus after flashing LineageOS

Heollo guys,
as I still own a SGS4mini (i9195), that was running on KitKat, I wanted to improve it a bit.
THerefore, I flashed lineage-13.0-20170318-nightly-serranoltexx-signed.zip.
Basically, most of the things are running fine (as long as you don't use the SD card as internal storage). But a major topic is the camera. The focus is always pumping around and very often just does exactly the wrong thing when the picture gets taken - thus resulting in a lot of blurry pictures.
Do you know some workaround for this?
Thanks,
Matthias
You can try the unofficial LOS 14.1 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga.../rom-cyanogenmod-14-0-s4-mini-3g-lte-t3471761
Even tho it is still listed as [TEST], the ROM had been stable as daily driver for me, and camera works for me. <Tap to set focus works. The S4 has a pretty crappy camera compared to current gen phones, I get lots of motion blurring / artifacts in low light.>
You may also try a different camera app for more control options, although I found stock is pretty good for me.

New on 10, what's the situation?

Hello guys, here a htc m7, m8, m9 and few nexus devices user
Can I ask something to anyone who was here before me? just to be updated about the situation:
-is there vulkan support here?
-no daydream eh?
-what exactly do we lose with AOSP roms? sound should be fine since the bass/high system is a phisical thing...I just expect camera performance drop
-I was something about AOSP CAF....is there really a pure aosp compiled port?? with no lineage stuff? would be great
-Is EAS really magic as they say?
-Is there a full stock rom zip? with no wipe?
-I feel the display colors a little unbalanced...how are you dealing with that?
-Camera is great, no dubt, but I expected more....
I was on nexus 5x and google camera's hdr+ does an amazing job on post process, making shots more eye-candy, despite of quality
are you using third party apps? any advice? low light shots are really noisy
Thank you very much for your attention

If it isn't there, it will be soon. Taiwanese 10's have it I think, but it'll get pushed to all of them in coming OTA's.
I don't believe so, needs AMOLED per Google's official specs
I think the only feature loss with AOSP is VoLTE and WiFi Calling.
Yes, its WIP but the only thing not working that I know of is video recording. Eliminater74 will fix it.
Eh, its neat but its not the be all, end all. It's more of an alternative to PnP.
Yes, check Sneakyghost's thread or download a RUU.
Custom kernel's and the AOSP ROMs have color sliders for fine tuning.
I use Google cam on Res Remix and the stock camera for Sense. Works for my uses.

Many thanks for reply! I didn't know about amoled for [email protected]
I think that in aosp we should lose boomsound and proprietary camera stuff, that help with image processing....
Tried nebula rom yesterday, I expected a cleaner rom....and something more on performance haha but htc devices never played well with aosp IMO
I can tune the display, but without a good tool....you know, is hard to achieve a good calibration
I'm going to try google camera, but nexus have dedicated post processing systems that, really, make the difference....just look at pixel shots....though pixel have similar camera, they look far better

[ROM RELATED] camera

Hi, My OP5T will be arriving in a couple days and I will be modifying it immediately. Personal preference. I was just wondering if there is any differences between the camera on the stock ROM and on a custom ROM? If it's not a massive difference I wouldn't mind.
Much appreciated!
hey, I'm interested in this too. specifically the dots - will they appear in all custom roms due to lacking oos camera drivers?
hope someone can clarify!
thx,
vercetti
Tried both, tried 5 other camera software - none are good enough, returned mine. Remember that you have 14/15 days for the return. Out of the best camera software I found either stock camera in pro mode, or Better Camera with best shot enabled. it takes 3 pictures and selects the best one with least blur - exceptionally useful to compensate for lack of OIS>

Custom ROM's camera apps taking photos in yellow accent

Hi there,
I am sick of tired using MIUI and its childish design, so decided to upgrade to AOSP based custom ROMs for my Ginkgo. I can say that i tried almost all custom Q ROM's, but in every one of them built in camera app was taking photos all in yellow accent. It's weird but i've faced this issue for almost all Q ROM's so far. Trying GCam/trCam and plenty of other camera apps didn't help. But when i use WhatsApp's built-in camera, there is no problem. Also there is no problem with MIUI based custom ROM's like MIUI EU, MIUIMIX and MiRoom. So i'm pretty sure it's not related with the hardware, it's software based.
Weird thing is no one except me is talking about this. It's like i am the only one who is facing this bug. Any idea to fix this ****ty issue?

You’re not alone! I’ve only used ( I’m using Pixel Experience Q) and the stock cam has a warm tint, but I used a GCam with and set it to an inbuilt IMX 586 white balance preset ( Ik, the RN8 has a GM2) and it looked normal He devs should be able to fix it once Xiaomi comes out with actual android 10 miui so they can get proper android 10 blobs!
You are not alone indeed. Also, as well as fixing this, I'd like to understand how one selects between the various cameras. For example, how does one select the 48mp camera ?
(only installed rom last night, so need to play some more but very keen to find an answer to the yellow tint problem)
An update - having tried the camera again today, it is fine. I have both the built-in and open camera apps. I will do more testing tonight but this tinting thing might be a misapplication of some night-mode setting (no, I didn't have night-mode enabled when I tested the camera last night and got tinted results).
that is the issue with device tree
wait for new tree by fabian
Hello, I did some more testing last night. It seems (and I am no photographic expert) that if the camera is used in ambient light then it appears to work fine. If there is any "warm" light (such as from a light bulb) in the area it can see then it over-tones yellow. I tried it in the evening and again this morning. I guess we just need to wait for the device tree?
I did wonder if installing the MIUI camera app would work better - I haven't tried it but I guess the device tree would make this an issue at a lower level than the apps...
im curious about this yellow tint as well, a friend has an iphone 11 pro with no yellow tint in the same room as me, note 8t same problem as op's
