Hey guys, new to here, I work in schools, and recently the case for our iPads catch my attention, never used rugged cases before, only TPU, or cheap silicone, or wallet style cases. I some how start to like that industrial design of the Survivor, .for now I use the original Quick Cover, but it has no protection from drops, just a piece of plastic case, with some fake leather flap, id does feel good, and premium, but was ridiculously expensive, but we all know, it's the same for other original accessories, and rarely they worth the price of the company's logo. For example, I searched for some good dual QI charger, but found on from 3rd party, ZENS it is, and I was awsome guys. Now about the case I liked, a searched for a while here and there, stopped at 2 options, Dilex by Seidio, and Aegis by Trident, the Seidio is more useful, and looks nicer on images, but the construction is different. I don't really care for port covers, as I have a pack of separate caps, I bought some time ago, as I only use wireless charging.
My perfect cover would have a built in stand, have good drop protection, not bulky and heavy, and work with a glass screen protector, I use iLoome FLEX, that are most thin glass protector I know of, and do not interfere with GPS, WIFI, and especially QI wireless charging. Is Dilex is the case for me? any good bad experiences with it? how is the material? in compare for OtterBox, is it silicone, or rubber? and how much hard or soft it is? Thank's. and feel free to recommend me other covers that come in mind, that have that features. I rarely drop my devices, but just in case, and want to try some rugged case, maybe I will like it, like I like it on our schools iPads.

Which one is the best? Please let me know I don't know which one to buy for my Droid X. Also if you know of any heavy protection cases for it just comment below...
can someone plz answer this haha i really wanna know i think its between the seidio rugged and the otterbox defender in my opinion but plz help me out which do you guys think would be the best heavy protection case?
I have both the seidio, and the otterbox. The Otterbox wins at everything but Seidio has the better holster.

I ordered the Trident to replace my Rugged. The Trident is better in my opinion. The rubber on the rugged wore out within a month. The trident also seemed to be thinner and molded to fit my hand better. I almost got the Otterbox, but I am glad I ordered the Trident instead.
As far as protection goes, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three as all are built like tanks.
I have the Seido one and I have loved it. I love it has a piece of rubber to cover over the camera so that nothing can scratch it. I have been debating about getting the Otterbox but dont really now if I want to or not
I work heavy construction (demo of fire damaged houses) and I roll up my sleeves and get in there with my guys on a daily basis. Needles to say; the case gets a BEATING. The case is on my tool belt at all times, the phone does get answered whenever it rings; my gloves usually have foreign matter that should not be allowed within 10 feet of anything electronic. 90% of my guys have Androids and we use Tikl alot as well. We had a number of "rugged" cases come and go, but Otterbox is the winner.
I have had my hands on all three and nothing beats the $14.99 Dual Layer Vertex Case I found @ Techie Warehouse. I would definitely recommend googling this. Have you ever taken a good look at the Seidio Innocases... they are molded with cheap plastic and when you drop your Droid X with the Innocase the two piece snap on just comes apart half the time so you end up with a minor scuff.
I haven't used Seidio or Trident, but I own the Otterbox Defender. A regular $50, you can find it for $35 shipped on eBay. I'm definitely happy and don't have anything bad to say about it.
It has rubber flaps to cover all plug openings and they fit snug, all buttons are covered and pressable through the rubber, and the screen sets in about 1/8" so if it sits on its face it is not sitting directly on the screen. There is also a built-in screen protector. The camera also sets in so there is no resting the phone on the camera. I particularly like the holster because you can place the phone in any of 4 directions and it snaps in perfectly: screen out - either direction, screen in - either direction. The case is easily removable if you need to get to the inside quickly, such as the battery or sd card.
It was basically the best $35 I've spent on an accessory for my X (with the 5000mAh portable charger being a close second XD ) and I definitely don't feel like I have to handle it with extra care anymore.
The Kracken has all ports covered, along with all speaker holes.
The Kraken is pretty much like the old otterboxes with covered the camera with a clear skin, along with pieces of fabric covering all speaker-,mic holes. The Otterbox for the DX does NOT have those, which makes it not completely dustproof.
And as for the guy complaining about the plastic Innocase coming apart on the Seido when you drop it..... It was designed that way. It spreads the impact of your clumsy drop away from the much more expensive phone, and towards the cheap replaceable case. Think of it like a crumple zone in a car. Its meant to protect the insides of the phone, not keep it pretty.
Any seen a dock that fits these cases? I know there have been some handbuilt. Seidio has usually made a dock that fits their cases. But I have yet to see this.

Can someone recommend a cheap case for around $10? I've been running the Captivate naked but I think it's about time I consider getting some protection for it. The reason why I've been running it naked for so long is because I don't like the added bulk and heft they bring. However, nothing is perfect in this world and I'd rather suffer from added bulk and heft than risk scratching my Captivate. Of course the slimmer and lighter they are, the better. It'd be great if I can also access the buttons easily.
Doing a quick search, I've come across Otterbox Impact for $7.50 + shipping on Amazon, or I can get a Body Glove for $7.95 + shipping. Or I can just get those cheap silicone cases, but they can get dirt in pretty easily. My friend has a silicone case for his iPod Touch and it looks nasty if you don't keep it clean.
With all the threads on cases, you felt the need to start this one? The Body Glove is probably the simplest and best case out there in your price range.
Between those two get the otterbox. It feels much nicer in the hand and slides in and out of the l

There's someone in the Body Glove Mirage thread with the exact opposite opinion. I guess these kinds of things vary from person to person

Yes because they all look so bulky and hefty (from pictures and reviews) anyways, and well, there's a reason why I kept my phone naked for so long. Don't want it bulky and heavy.
@Others. Thanks. I'll take a look.
I have an Ebay gel case, it's an amzer copy and adds very little bulk, and slides in and out of my pocket fine.. plus no plastic snaps to break when removing it.
FWIW, I got the Otterbox Impact through Amazon as well and am really happy with it. I checked out the Body Glove case and didn't like it, but as said everyone has their own opinions.

I'd do this: the super-cheap TPU cases actually provide better protection them most expensive ones. TPU, not silicone.

I have a TPU case, and while it seems to add protection and is resistant against dirt, it is not resistant at all against grime and fingerprints. I swear the thing has layers and layers of fingerprints on it.
I ordered the Body Glove case and hope it doesn't have the same issues.

So TPU is like silicone but better? Reading that Wiki page reminded me of chemistry, which I did not do well on.
Argh $20 at FS. Might as well get Otterbox. I remember seeing some of the Otterbox cases, there's a plastic thing like silicone, which I guess is TPU and then there's a hard plastic for the back. Technically I can use it without the hard plastic, which would remove some bulk and weight I guess.

Yeah, even for employees the case is like $12.
Amazon and eBay have TPU cases for <$5 shipped (US, anyway). They're pretty much all from the same Chinese factories, so it won't much matter...
The Body Glove is TPU with some texturing.

I'm going to have to agree with this guy.
I have THIS and it is waaaay better than I would have given it credit for, if I hadn't bought it on recommendation from someone I trusted.
It is lightweight, no clips, protects the edges, is not bulky, does not show fingerprints, and is nearly see through in a smoky sort of way, but you still see the diamond pattern just enough to make it look like a $30 case.
I really cannot recommend it enough.
I've had mine for about 3 months now and if I ever lose it, there would be no other option for a replacement. I'm only buying this version as long as I have a Captivate.
For what it's worth, I also bought THIS because it was so damn cheap.......and it's flimsy, feels cheap, and gets fingerprints on it while collecting lint as well.
Stick with the Amzer, if you're not impressed with it, then there's no pleasing you.

This is TPU. The one you didn't like is silicone. See what I mean?
Dude, this is what you want:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Smoke-TPU-Skin-...539794?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20b50de392
2.95 shipped
This is what I have for my Captivate and I really like it. It is not too bulky, does not have a belt clip, is much sturdier than a silicone case (I personally like it better than my brother's Body Glove case), and I have not had any issues with dirt getting inside the case: http://cgi.ebay.com/Black-TPU-Skin-...294862?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2c58ea0d4e
I bought mine as part of a $9.99 accessory package, which included a wall charger, car charger, USB cable, and the TPU case.
Cases are such a personal preference - some people like bigger heftier cases that provide maximum protection, whereas other people like more minimal cases that offer some protection but don't detract from the form factor of the phone. In my case, I fall within the latter category. When I used an iPhone, I usually opted for the Incipio Feather, the Griffin Reveal, or a simple skin (from Best Skins Ever or Invisible Shield).
Overall, I am very happy with the TPU case.
Thanks guys. I think I'll go with the cheap TPU that joeybear linked, but in a different colour and design. Maybe I'll buy a Otterbox Impact as well if I have to buy something from Amazon (HTC Desire screen protector and case)
Edit: Gg. The link by joeybear and JOLiu doesn't ship to Canada. Now I gotta spend more on Amazon or buy from other eBay shops, which is a lot more expensive and who knows how good the product from them is.
I wanted a as slim as possible case and I wanted it to protect all the way around the perimeter of the phone. Here are the choices (in order from first to last), help me decide.
Rearth Ringke Slim - At $28 it's a bit expensive and it doesn't cover the sides. Also looks to be less grippy since it's hard smooth plastic.
BoxWave Blackout - I'm worried it's thicker than a case like the Rearth, but with that said it protects all around and is really cheap at $12. I think the material is more rubber like which sounds more appealing to a gloss hard case. Not many reviews anywhere for this case.
elago G4elago G4 - I'm not sure about this case in general.
Thanks for your input.
Personally I like the Leather style flip cases, The one that doubles up as a wallet.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-WAL..._MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item3374db7913
I would never pay more than £10 (delivered) for a case.
in terms of slimness i've basically narrowed it down to two giants.
1. sgp ultra thin
2. casemate barely there.
not sure which ones better but from what i can tell they're pretty much the same, both at a hefty 25 bucks.
anyways, i'm in the same boat as you. XD
not sure which case to get.

I have the rearth and it is very slim, the only down side it is a beeeoootch to take off (i have a dock/charger for the phone) and if you take it on and off a lot it cracks and the part closet to the usb port cover, nothing earth shattering it actually makes it much easier to take the case off - that and the sgp ultra clear and it is almost like having nothing on the phone at all.
I have used diztronic cases for the last year (for my SII and now my N7000). They are very similar to the boxweave case you posted.
http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Fle...0386413&sr=8-3&keywords=diztronic+galaxy+note
As you know TPU protects like a silicon case but doesn't stick in your pocket or collect lint and dust due to it not being "sticky" feeling. I recently sold my SII for over $300 after 8 months of daily use because my SII was in perfect condition as a result of being in a diztronic tpu case. No, I never dropped the phone on cement or anything but I dropped my SII on the carpet from 5+ feet and the phone was unchanged when I picked it up. Didn't pop out of case or battery, etc. Because the tpu cases have a 1/8 or so "lip" on the front they also allow the phone to be placed face down on flat surfaces. IMHO and experience, a good tpu case is all you need to fully protect your phone unless you work in construction or somehow expect to drop it on cement.
So, my vote goes to the boxweave or diztronic cases. BTW I got 2 diztronics for $14 from amazon, the black matte and smoke matte. Great deal!
^I'm actually thinking of getting a real cheap TPU case like that I can mod. My ideal case is a TPU Bumper, maybe the Boxwave Black out without the back part but have the vol and power buttons cut out. I guess it's just not feasible so far... ?
Anyway, Thanks for the input so far guys, keep it coming.
bumper TPU from Amazon

first post here,
I have one of these.
search amazon for bumper cases.
I'm not allowed to post urls.
I like it, I have it on right now. What I have is different from what's
in the pictures. No cutouts for the buttons and the other cutouts are not
as big. The covers of the buttons are pretty sensitive, unlike the covers
for the Boxwave type which I got from Hongkong for 2 bucks.
Check amazon out, they have a lot of cases.
I also have the elago Breathe case, I love them I have two.
I ended up taking my chances on this. I guess it's going to be as close as I get. Thanks everyone, I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

Go for the Rearth Ringke Slim , is THE BEST OF ALL !!!
Hi all, I'm in a similar dilemma.
I've got a choice between these two:
https://www.gearzap.com/media/catalog/product/3/4/34484-2.jpg
and
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HYBRID-SI...lePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item416682f7b6
I know I should pick the Zenus, but would the inside bit that holds my phone scratch the outer bezel? And since the hybrid one has a silicon case THEN a hard outer shell I figured it would be good too. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I use a an SGP Ultra thin. Comfortable case. Considering the size of the phone the case is great. Merges with the Phone. +1 anytime.
I ordered this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160732471512?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. It has a stand that works in both axis.
good
Nice
Particularly one that can fit the OEM extended battery (which, speaking of, where's the best/cheapest place to get it)?
I'm used to just going for Otterbox, but the one for the Nexus looks ugly and like a complete lint/dirt magnet (the notification light cut-out part particularly). I already have a thin/light case on the way, which I got before I realized how small my hands are and how cautious I am about not dropping to phone due to a lack of grip when using one-handed - and it's already dropped once and left a tiny scratch on the back...and I've never dropped my phone before getting a Nexus.
So...recommendations? I read about Ballistic and Aegis cases a bit but aren't familiar with them at all. Seidio cases look nice, but no idea what kind of protection they offer. Anything with a plain black base is preferable, color accents would be nice (including pink if it's not too gaudy) - anything with a light base (white especially) is out.
I think the Trident Kraken is the most protective case out there. It's not very grippy b/c of the plastic being on the outside though. And it has a kickstand

It looks grippy and rubbery from pictures, it's just a hard/smooth plastic on the outside? It looks nice otherwise, thanks. And is the kickstand plastic or metal?
I bought an Otterbox Defender series for Galaxy Nexus. It is fitting both the standard and the stock extended battery. It is the only case that has a tough protective material for the display also. Of course, it is stealing a little of the clarity, but it is a fair trade for the toughness that is providing.

How's the material on the back? I had two Otterbox Commuter cases and found the back to be way too slippery/smooth (it was fine since the phones were small enough to grip easily). And is it possible to remove the screen protector? I already have a good matte screen protector on.
At the moment I'm kinda leaning toward the Trident Kraken for basically being a two-part case and being kinda nice-looking too.
The material on the back is a VERY grippy silicone. No plastic on the outside.
It is possible to remove the screen protector (I've seen other people doing it) but why in the world would you like to do it?
I bough the case to take the phone out on my mountain biking rides where I really need a tough screen protector not for the scratches but for the rocks .
I also have a XO screen protector on the display, for regular use.
I'm not using the tough case daily .. it is transforming the phone in the life signs detector used by the Earth crew in Stargate Atlantins
---------- Post added at 09:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:26 PM ----------
I just recompiled what you wrote ... the otterbox IS two part case .. a polycarbonate case (which has the screen protector) which is fitting in a silicone enclosure ... and you also get a polycarbonate holster for the whole assembly
Try out the Seidio Convert case. I use it while at work and it is a pretty nice case!
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-convert-case-holster-black-p/bd4-hkr4ssgnl.htm
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I've got the Ballistic. Seriously, it's awesome. I don't fear dropping it and it gives much more protection than the commuter. Says it was designed for the non gsm version, but my gsm with stock battery work perfect, so I guess with the extended it will also work. Very good grip on the back, seriously with the shell and silicon I don'T even think about the grip I sometimes just want to drop it lol. Corners = win.
Also, It looks manly. Fits in pocket, corners sometimes make it harder to pull out/in if you're sitting.
I would try the Seidio convert only if I decide to buy the extended. Looks beastly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE_Z31IIByw
I don't care for the screen protector built-in the Defender since I already have a matte screen protector that diminishes the screen quality (and having a clear/glossy protector on top of it would also defeat the purpose of the anti-glare and silky feeling of the matte protector), and while I'm sold in the protection, I'm not sold on the looks of the front (the area around the LED is a bit much if you ask me, and seems like it'd make it difficult to see the LED at certain angles).
The belt clip/holster on any case (Defender included) are useless to me, but a kickstand (that doesn't require a belt clip) is very nice...and as a result I'm kinda stuck between the Seidio Active with kickstand (for price) and Trident Kraken (for looks and being two-part; being able to get different-colored bases for cheap is a huge plus).
Any other suggestions with kickstands would be nice, and I do appreciate the other input/suggestions; while I'm certainly not against multiple cases, I only have money for one and want it to last at least a month.
And yeah, "manly" looks aren't exactly a pro for me =P
I bought the Defender in pink so could use the extended battery, and I wanted something rugged. My husband got the Trident Kraken. His looks nicer but he complains that it is too slippery. Not sure if there is a perfect case out there

Got mine from a Korean seller on eBay (think it was shim shop or similar - had good seller ratings). Took a while to arrive but its the real deal.
SGS Hybrid and Zenus cases are fine with the bigger battery, but not very heavy duty.
Trident kraken is by far the most protective and will fit both stock and extended battery. It's not as grippy as the defender but it's by far better quality and the kickstand can be taken out and other accessories like gps mount, bike mount, desk mount, and tripod can be used with the case
I said screw buying a case for my nexus, when I can buy a complete rear housing and battery door for $20 on eBay. When the housing gets scuffed up replace it.
Hey guys, I'll make this short and sweet. I've been looking around the boards for a few weeks for a simple flip cover that wont break the bank or damage my phone.
All I need is a good fit, earpiece hole and sleep/wake function (not spending $50 on the official LG flip cover though)
I came across this one on amazon:
http://www.amazon.ca/Nillkin-Fruit-...2338300&sr=8-1&keywords=Nexus+5+Nillkin+fruit
I haven't seen any reviews of this case other than a single sentence saying they didn't like the thickness and it is only one person's opinion.
Has anyone else had experience with this case? I'm mostly concerned about the polycarbonate inside scratching the corners of my Nexus.
Any input on this case is appreciated, but I am also open to other suggestions for cases that meet the above criteria.
Thank you!
I just got this in the mail today. Only $7.99 shipped from this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271320259952
I've always liked Nillkin products. Good quality stuff. This case is no exception. I got the black one. The case is a glossy polycarbonate. Fairly thick. It's a gunmetal metallic color. The flip cover is a sturdy leather like cover. The magnetic closure works really well. Sleep/Wake works great. The design of the magnetic closure reminds me of the great Poetic cases for tablets. The entire case gives the phone some weight and a very premium feel and look. Wireless charging works fine with the case on. I think it's better than the LG case and for only $7.99!
Hello
The serial number of the Nillkin Fresh Fruit can be used on a single device? I've first tested the case on my phone but now I want to use it on another phone. On the second phone it does not accept the serial number. What can I do ?
