Need help flashing WWE onto At&t M9 - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an At&t M9 with an unlocked bootloader with S-OFF. I'm running the ViperRom and I can't get calls. I'm told that the reason for this is because of the At&t RRU or something like that, and the WWE version will fix it. When I went over to AndroidRRU and looked though, there are a couple of different WWE versions there, and I don't know what to download. Could someone help me out with which one I'm supposed to download and then flash please?

[Q] Updating my HTC One M8

Hey guys,
I've been searching but couldn't find anything that really helps with my problem. I bought an HTC One M8 last year, it was supposed to be unlocked from factory but when it arrived it turned out it was an unlocked AT&T model. Anyways so I tried to root the phone but it was already rooted and running a TWRP (I don't know how this happened as the phone was sealed when I got it) I have no problem with this but as the phone is rooted and doesn't have the stock recovery I can't get any OTA and I'm still in 4.4.2. I was wondering if any of you guys could help me update my device to stock 5.0.1 without flashing a custom ROM.
Thanks

First off, there is no stock 5.0.1 for the AT&T version yet. There isn't even a 4.4.4 released yes (although it might be anytime soon).
Further, you aren't going to receive any OTAs since you aren't connected to the AT&T network. Some folks not specifically familiar with AT&T will disagree, saying the OTAs will come over WiFi even if not connected to the specific carrier. But AT&T is pretty unique in this regard (well, maybe other carriers in the US do it too, but not WWE versions).
You can download an official RUU to upgrade to 4.4.3. Then wait for RUUs to be posted for 4.4.4 and/or 5.0.1. That is all you can do at this time without s-off. With s-off, you can convert to any version you want, and get official OTAs that way (such as convert to WWE version), or run the US Developer's Edition 5.0 RUU.

Excuse me but what is WWE exactly? Ok so my two options are use sunshine to make my htc s-off and convert to another version or flash a custom rom with 5.0.1?
Thanks for your help.

World Wide English. Which doesn't really say much. Its the "international" version sold in Europe and other places.

Nope, your second option won't work. You need firmware on your phone that is compatible with 5.0.1, otherwise WiFi will be broken, and.or extreme long boot times (>10 minutes). And the only way to update your firmware is with s-off (until AT&T releases more updates).
So really, if you want to update now, your only option is s-off.
Ok dude, thanks for your help. I guess I'll have to s-off

If you want to update now, that is what I suggest. I don't see LP coming to AT&T for another month at least, and it might be even longer than that (months). We're still waiting for 4.4.4.
Be sure to check bootloader and confirm if its s-on or s-off (says one or the other near the top of the hboot screen). Since it was already rooted and bootloader unlocked, who knows, you might have lucked out and gotten a phone that is already s-off as well.
Yeah and like you said if I'm not connected to the AT&T network I might never get the update so it is the only option. BTW I checked and it's S-On =(
Thanks for your help.

[Q] GPE to stock to unlock

Hello guys,
I purchased a second hand HTC One M8 which has been converted to GPE, unlocked bootloader and S-OFF. The phone is currently locked to the Vodafone network, so I assume it was previously a Vodafone branded device.
Now I need to get this phone unlocked because Im with another netowork, so I purchased an unlock code online which failed (they have always worked in the past). I got a refund from the seller and was told to try a different seller. Purchased a new one but it turned out to be the same code. I told the seller my story and was told I need to make sure I am on the latest official stock ROM. Maybe the previous owner entered an incorrect code too many times and disabled this whole thing altogether? I dont know.
Im not sure how a stock ROM would make a difference, but the phone is useless to me being locked to Vodafone so I guess its worth a try. Now heres where I need your help because Im a Nexus user so Im not too familiar with all these CIDS, MIDS, etc.
I have changed my CID to superCID, do I now just flash the Vodafone RUU? Or do I need to take further steps? I dont really need to change the MID aswell do I? I will not be staying on stock, I will most likely be returing to GPE or some AOSP ROM and I'd like to keep the bootloader unlocked and S-OFF.
Also are there any other methods to get this SIM unlocked? I have read the thread about using a generated dat file, but read that no longer works.
Thanks.
Follow the 'back to sense' thread in general first, then set CID to the Vodafone one, I assume UK), then flash the RUU
Hi,
Thanks. Is this the thread you are referring to?
I thought I could flash any RUU with superCID which is why I changed to that, but no problem I'll just change it over to Vodafone to be safe, it is VODAP001 for the UK version I believe.
You can use the unbranded EU RUU if you prefer, it's up to you
And yes, that thread
No what I meant was I thought I should be able to flash the Vodafone RUU using superCID without having to change to the Vodafone one...but nevermind I changed it over anyway.
But Im having some problems with this actually. I downloaded what I thought to be the Vodafone ROM from the HTC dev site, the file name is m8ul-3.4.0-g3c7a5c1.zip, I follwed the steps laid out in the going back to sense thread but I get an error message '24 parsing android-info fail', tried a few times as mentioned in the thread but same thing happens.
I then located a Vodafone RUU exe in this thread. That failed to even run as confirmed by another member, something to do with InstallScript.
So then I tried flashing the previous zip file with the htc_fastboot that you provided in the same thread, same error as before.
Any suggestions? Or do you know if there is a working Vodafone RUU available anywhere?
The file on HTC Dev is the kernel source, which is why that hadn't worked.
As for the RUU, it looks like it could be corrupt.
You first have to flash that ZIP in the back to sense thread to get the partitions corrected and then you can flash an RUU. I'd just use the EU one as (for a start) it works and it means you don't have all the carrier rubbish
Oh ok, I didnt realise I had to flash that before flashing an RUU, I just thought flashing any RUU would sort out the partitions.
I'll go ahead and flash the zip file and the EU RUU as I am unable to find a Vodafone one. But Im really not too bothered about the carrier crap anyway because as I say the only reason for going back to stock is to try and SIM unlock the device, and if doing that will really make a difference then it would most likely do it on the stock Vodafone ROM, but I dont know I could be wrong.
I'll let you know how I get on.
You can SIM unlock it regardless of ROM. Some people say flashing the RUU will sort everything out but, in my experience, I've had to flash the first ZIP and then the RUU to get it all working properly
Thats what I thought but it didnt work. The unlock code provider then told me to make sure I am on official stock ROM which is why Im trying to get the Vodafone ROM loaded on this phone. As Ive said I dont know how much of a difference it will make if any, but it is worth a try I suppose.
Anyway Ive had some problems flashing the EU RUU, I followed the guide and flashed the firmware zip which went all fine. Then I flashed the EU RUU provided in your guide, but it kept giving me errors towards the end - 51 partition update fail. Downloaded another RUU which gave me the same error, tried an RUU exe which also failed. Tried flashing a different firmware but I cant remember if it failed at that stage or at the RUU stage. Then I thought maybe the firmware is an old version from Kit Kat. I felt as if I didnt know what I was doing and should give up!
I then came across this thread and that person was doing it through TWRP backups which I thought I should maybe try. But I dont know Ive been at this for hours and currently without a ROM or recovery! I think Im gonna flash back to GPE until I know what to do.

Flashing Europe RUU on Canadian M9

Hi guys,
I have an Sasktel M9, with s-on. I have twrp and running LeeDroid on it right now. I have been patentienly waiting for Sasktel OTA to happen but feel like its going to be a week or 2 until it comes. My question, can I flash this Europe RUU below:
RUU_HIMA_UHL_L50_SENSE70_HTC_Europe_1.32.401.17_Radio_01.01_U11440261_56.02.50306G_2_F_release_429340_signed_2_4.exe
Then once I have it flashed, update to 1.40 through stock OTA? I would keep it Europe Base, but just wondering if for 1. if it would correctly flash the RUU, 2. Phone would operate normal on a Europe RUU?
Thanks in advance!

Changing ROM and FW to go to WWE vs Dev

Hey everyone,
I first want to say thanks for all the instructions here on this one, it's been a lot of searching, but got through getting my phone boot unlocked, TWRP installed, rooted, and finally through Venom, S-OFF.
I bought an M9 from eGlobal Central which landed me a HK phone and Asia ROM. It's also meant that with the subsequent upgrade to the 1.4 firmware package the battery has gone from terrible to paper weight.
I've got Venom on there for the moment (That got me through Sunshine) and I'm looking either at a stock Dev edition or WWE ROM (To get up to a >2.8 firmware), however, I'm wondering where to go now in regards to WWE or Dev. Errr... OK, just correct me where I'm wrong here:
I'll need a firmware package that matches the ROM.
I'm guessing I'll need a complete RUU, but for European Dev perhaps? What's the CID for that?
Actually is there any difference at all in the radio software between the different firmware releases and capabilities?
What is the current Android version in WWE that's available? (And what firmware more to the point, I just want off 1.4)
I've seen Dev is now on Android 5.1 and 2.8 firmware (And I'm guessing this has been patched higher again)
I assume that Dev has a faster release schedule than WWE?
I basically want to get myself back to the point where I'm getting OTA updates, but my phone lasts a day instead of a couple of hours (I should've bought another M8).
I'm sure that this has been done before, but hours of Google searches has left me well, slightly less in the dark, but the light at the end of the tunnel could be an oncoming train, so, thought I'd just ask.
Thanks for all your help,
Berny
You're s-off so just go supercid and you can flash the latest 2.10 firmware. Forget OTAs because you can't get them unless you're 100% stock, and the back and forth required to do it is far more trouble than its worth IMO.
Can't speak for everyone but battery life on 2.x has been fine.

Exactly...also this is what i did, I had same issue as you and I followed this steps to do it:
DevCID BS_US001
DevMID 0PJA11000 (Dev)
Installed Dev 2.8.617.4 by SDCARD Method Ruu ZIP File
Installed TWRP 2.7.8.1b again.
SuperCID 11111111 (WWE)
Placed BACKUP 2.8.617.4
Flashed WWE FW 2.10.401.1
Flashed any Custom ROm.

Soft-Bricked HTC One M9 - Missing IMEI/SIM/Device Information after flash.

Hi all,
I've been spending the last couple of days on these forums and google trying to resolve the issues I have been having nonstop since I decided to unlock and flash my HTC One M9 but I've run into a wall and don't know what else I can do to fix my phone. Stupidly I did not create a backup before flashing so I think I am up **** creek as I cannot install stock roms either. I've have been following the guides but having issues the whole time through with the M9 for some reason.
HTC One M9 - Telstra (Australia) S-ON
After lots of ****ing around I have successfully managed to Unlock, Install TWPR, Flash SuperSU, Flash Android Revolution custom rom. This has wiped all my IMEI/SIM settings etc. I managed to find the stock telstra RUU to got back to stock rom as this is how to fix this problem, except when I try to install I get errors saying 'Device id/information not found'
Does anyone have any similiar experiences or know of anyway to fix this? Any and all help is appreciated.
It's impossible to help without knowing your current firmware and the firmware of the RUU you wanted to flash.
Be aware that there is not "the stock telstra RUU". RUUs are always stock and normally HTC creates one for each firmware version of their phones. The catch is that they don't get distributed officially (unless they're made for US carriers) but leaked by insiders.
However, the problem with the IMEI is explained in the ReadMe thread.
