[Q] Lollipop through Odin? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is flashing the latest update through odin advisable on a non DE Note 4, or is this something that shouldn't be done?

I've done it without any issues to my non DE edition note 4 so you shouldnt have any problems:good:

Thank you! Hopefully I can avoid the battery problems some folks are reporting by doing it this way.

That was the reason I redid the update through Odin on mine. I took the OTA and my battery life was half of what it use to be on kitkat. Since redoing it through odin, Im almost back to where I use to be battery wise. Good luck:good:

[Q] Sluggish and Slow after update?

Hi,
I have a note 2 that's unrooted.
Right after applying the OTA update now its super sluggish and slow.
Is it due to the knox?

anyone?
4.3 update simply sucks. Your only way to make everything better is to root your phone and install a custom rom but this way you can say goodbye to warranty.
Dear KNOX thank you, we all hate you.

For me i think the best TW version i had on my Note 2 was the 4.1.1/4.1.2, 4.3 was simply a disappointment, with no Note 3 features, nothing new but performance, it went down.

[Q] Downgrading 4.3 to 4.1.2 on GTN7105

I only really used to lurk the forums, but I've seen a lot of conflicting threads with regards to rooting/downgrading methods for this particular model which is why I'm asking here today:
My understanding is that KNOX itself will trip when rooting occurs and voids the warranty, and that it also blocks bootloading(?)
I made the mistake of updating to 4.3 a while back and I've regretted it ever since, and now that there's an OFW update to 4.4.2 (I'd rather not update it) I'm stuck between updating to 4.4.2 (Which might lock me out of downgrading) or staying with 4.3 until a solution appears.
Here are my device details:
SAMSUNG NOTE 2 LTE
GT-N7105
Android Ver: 4.3
Baseband ver: N7105XXUEMJ9
Build: JSS15J.N7105XXUEML3
I'm already past warranty so tripping knox isn't a problem, I just want to bring it back down to 4.1.2.
Can anyone give me advice or a step-by-step on how I should proceed? I've been looking for a solution over the last few months without any real progress...:crying:

Once Knox is triggered or updating to official 4.3 and higher one cannot downgrade to 4.1.2. So you are stuck with 4.3 and higher ROMs. Bye bye 4.1.2

Should I update?

I am already rooted via towel root. Is this going to update to NF1? And will I loose root?

You can upgrade to NF1 official firmware no problem, it will not change the knox status.
But unfortunately you will loose root and Towelroot is not yet compatible with rooting
the NF1 official firmware.
Good luck!
Thanks that's what I was afraid of. I think I'll just keep postponing it until I hear of a root method for NF1. Thanks again. God Bless

Don't do the OTA. You can retain root if you flash nf1 via Mobile Odin Pro app.

I am not the developer, Couldn't able to answer it in the technically way,
but for me, this is the updating from 4 to 8, from Nouga 7.0 to Oreo 8.0,
For me it does perform faster, UI looks cleaner.

You can update to Oreo without changing the bootloader version. Oreo has been out for a while and most carriers, except Sprint, upgraded to it while still using b4.
The bootloader is basically a security measure to prevent unauthorized use of the phone like modding or changing roms. B8 isn't rootable, so if that matters to you, don't update. For Sprint users on b5,6,7 this allows the Unlocked firmware to be installed again.
Most people will just see it as another update, but most of the XDA community see it as a gift for updated Sprint phones or avoid like the plague for others because of root and flexibility.
