Hey guys!
I'm thinking of buying an used One M8 (AT&T). I'm from Croatia, where we also use GSM so I can try sim-unlock it.
However, the guy says that phone won't boot up ("only boots up one picture").
It only boots up into Fastboot. With: radio, openDSP saying something like invalid_ver_info. Not sure what that is.
Is it a soft brick or a hard brick? I'm thinking it can be changed just by installing stock rom.
What else should I check out before buying it?
(it's very cheap, and I'm not budget-friendly)

check a "fastboot getvar all", if it looks like this:

So I made the silly and utterly stupid mistake of rooting my HTC m8. I don't want to brick my phone, so if anybody can help me out that would be great.
I want to remove all red flags, and install the latest 5.0 OTA update.
I also cracked my screen a while ago, and I want to send it back to get it fixed.
I am S Off with 4.4.4 currently.
Once again, any help would be great.
First things first, can you post the output of fastboot getvar all, making sure not to post your IMEI and Serial Number (for security purposes). We can then go from there
I'm not sure, but I doubt they'll fix your screen for free... Unless you bought extra coverage? Not to mention if you unlocked on HTC site, your warranty is void anyway. Usually.
Just wanted to bring this up. ?
Oh, my point is, if they're going to charge you anyway... No point in returning to stock.

There it ia
I realize this is probably asked fairly often, but I did try to find the answer myself. So I thank you and apologize in advance.
In any case, I've been using lollipop for some time on my M8 now. It is rooted and S-On. As a result, I can't simply OTA up into Marshmallow. I bought this phone used, and I believe it was Bell, but I'm uncertain. I was hoping to update to Marshmallow (and keeping my files intact if that is at all possible), but am totally at a loss as to what I should be doing. For one, not a whole lot of threads about Bell, so I'm unsure what files I should be using, but beyond that if someone could give me a nudge in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
To get things started, my fastboot getvar all is:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>fastboot getvar all

You can unroot it within supersu app itself.
Then restore system & boot only from non-rooted 4.20.666.1 backup and keep your data, install 4.20.666.1 stock recovery.img. You'll receive OTA up to Marshmallow with your data intact.
You can have all those in my thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Thank you, everything worked out perfect, though it took a little longer than I thought it would. One issue though, it seems maybe the radio is weaker? I can't get to LTE most of the time in places I had no trouble with before.
For anyone going through the same thing, if Sense is crashing after your update, just go into settings, apps and clear out the data for Sense.
No idea about the radio matter .. maybe an updated fastboot getvar all can tell something if not correctly done.

It's definitely having some trouble getting up to LTE, but it does connect to LTE once in a blue moon so its not the APN or something stupid like that.
Hi all,
So a few months ago I flashed a custom GPE Rom onto my M8. It was successful until I tried to remove TWRP and accidentally deleted my OS instead.
I tried to fix the problem but I just couldn't get it to work. I figured I would have another crack at it with the help of the XDA forums.
Currently I have S-Off, TWRP installed and kinda got fastboot working (sometimes it derps and won't recognize in the command prompt).

Instead of saying that (which really means nothing, in of itself), you need to provide specific details of each thing you tried, and the specific results for each. Otherwise, we can just be spinning our wheels suggesting things you've already tried.
What version TWRP? It sounds like all you need to do is make sure you TWRP version is not too old (I can help you there) then just get a ROM on the device (either adb push, or put it on SD card) and flash the ROM in TWRP.
I am on android 6, the m8 just stuck on boot for few weeks now.
the phone is still locked, s-on.
I am in UK, the phone bought from phones4u, it's sim free phone.
I have never modify anything.
I prefer just find a new ruu, then I can restore it to stock or the latest one,
I prefer not to root it or s off, but if i have no choice, I will consider again.
I have tried ruu_M8_UL_m50, shows image old,
is there any new ruu for it,
Thank you!!!:good:

especially post #4 & #6
If it is software problem, should fix it.
If it is hardware problem, it may fix it or it may totally brick it.
Thank you! I am reading now
I am downloading it, I will try it tonight, it's not hardware problem, it should not be bricked.
I don't mind, I have to try it.
is the ruu offical one?
is the htc_fastboot.exe special one? it's tiny file size?
instead of use computer to restore, i am using sd card to do it, it is updating now, thanks again, I update the result once it's done.
Thank you my friend, my phone is restoring now, It is loading app, for about 4 weeks I didn't see passing the htc logo screen, I hope it will load everything, I will update again in 1 hour.
Thank you very much for your help!
It's working now.
Hello Community, you have had little problem with an HTC that buys a fault that I can not find Solution ...
I have taken you to places to try the possibility of being the Battery, the Volume button or the Operating System ...
A few days ago I bought the device brand HTC6525LVW (Verizon M8) which when trying to turn on the device stays in the HTC logo and turns off.
A couple of days ago the device entered the Verizon logo and it also went out ...
If you can enter the Bootloader and turn on the Fastboot, try freeing the Bootloader to flash it but HTC will ban the Verizon devices ... The device is in S-ON and LOCKED
When trying to enter the Recovery the HTC logo appears and it goes off again.

Did you buy the device as broken (for a cheap price) in hopes of fixing it? Otherwise, I would not mess with it, and return it to seller for refund.
Does the phone stay in bootloader mode, and fastboot working?
