[Q] 375mb of screensavers - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi first post here so a quick hello
Just realised that my fire TV screensavers are taking up a whopping 375mb, I wouldn't usually care but with the ftv only having a crappy amount of free available storage it kinda sucks. My question is it possible to stop the afv downloading them all again after you delete them.

You could try to create an own gallery with only one picture and use this gallery for screensaver.

Thanks for the reply How do you create a gallery?

I'd be interested in this too. Actually kinda surprised I haven't heard anyone bring it up before and I didn't know they used that much space.

You must upload your gallery (or your single photo) to your Amazon cloud drive. Then you can choose this folder as slideshow/screensaver instead of the Amazon slideshow/screensaver.

Well that sucks as cloud drive you get no free storage anymore, what a load of bs.

Cloud drive should be free for pictures with Amazon Prime.

This is true but not everybody has a prime account. I use my ftv for spmc, oh well not much one can do about that. Thanks

Where are these screen savers located?

On the internal SD storage idk because I can't root my ftv, but you can delete data/cache from the ftv app draw, there located in pictures.

If you want to backup these pictures to use them for e.g. on a PC have a look here:

Scroll down for a download link where all pictures can be found.

Great! I'm going to see how much space they're occupying and possibly delete or move them to an external drive.
Thanks.

Has anyone found as solution yet?

..

Better try this tonight.
P.s Amazon offer all customers 5gb free, I am not a Prime user.

No free 5gb anymore, its $12
Still need a solution!

I signed up an hour ago. Worth trying a proxy or something to try and sign up at amazon.CO.UK?

I am in the UK,
you get 30 days or so free and then they instantly charge you for the year. I cancelled!

its strange - when i did it with an empty folder i got a folder and an empty file in the folder - deleted the file..
that's the only way i found to do it so far.
also when the top link is full (50GB i think is max?) feel free to use mine to give you and me an extra gb storage
edit: my account is maxed out
minus faster or Dropbox?

i havent got 50GB - but you can get that much free I think from referrals - Android Police said they maxed theirs out a few days ago on Google+ and I am sure I read at 50GB.
you start with 10, 11 if you sign up from a referral.
Free 25gb here (skydrive)
http://www.appbrain.com/app/sorami-skydrive-beta/shoozhoo.sorami
easier mount as network drive on PC
http://www.gladinet.com/p/intro_microsoft_skydrive.aspx (trail works fine also suports other cloud storage)
Linux
http://skydrivesync.codeplex.com/
also when i registered my phone with dropbox they upgraded it to 5gb (for 12 months) just install the app on your phone after installing on PC
hope this helps...
Without (proper) Android app is SkyDrive useless. Microsoft is suppose to release official one, but I have no idea when.
maybe but it works well enough for me along with dropbox ofc

It should be out with WLE 5, but again, not sure when or if it will be in beta. Only time will tell.

looks like if you upload a file too, you click on it to open it there's a 'rename folder' option at the top left - so you upload a file it creates a folder automagically which you can then rename - and add more files to that folder
my account is maxed out
50GB storage space
Is it possible to move files between different folders?
Edit:
If someone want he's ref link in first post PM me, as my storage is full aswell (50gb)
So Is started using Minus and I must say the comfort of using it is nowhere near DropBox.

Need space? Amazon AppStore Unnecessary Storage

Figured I'd share this...
Considering the Nexus comes with a lame @$$ 16GB of storage for us GSM users, storage will run out quick. Today I was looking to free up some space and noticed the Amazon AppStore logged +880Mb of USB Storage Data so I decided to look into it.
Under /sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.venezia, any apps downloaded from their stupid appstore will remain there even after you install it, thus taking up unnecessary space in your precious storage. -__-
Feel free to delete them if you're running low on space. The apps are already installed on the device and won't be affected in any way if the cached .apk files are deleted.
Edit: Just deleted the entire 880mb cache folder. All Amazon Appstore-downloaded apps are working 100%.
Thanks. I'll check this out.
I can't imagine why Amazon would think this was a good idea. It doesn't exactly help the AppStore's image.
Thank you very much for this. Having < 16GB of storage, space is at a premium. I cleared out about 300mb.
This is a really good find! thanks.

Thanks. That's weird. I had 805mb in there
Seems like Amazon is either really bad at housekeeping (not deleting the cached .apk after installing), or its doing it for ease of use so that users can easily re-install apps rather than re-downloading?
Whoa, I had 900mb in there. Great find!!!
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
only 150Mb for me, but thank you so much for noticing this. i was wondering why amazon was so damn big.
I think amazon did this because it normally would not be that big of an issue. apps can be installed again instantly, and they'd go on the SD card.
but on a phone with limited storage, especailly with you guys going up to almost 1GB. thats way to much and it needs to be erased.
800mbs in there. Thanks!
I would like to see how they are handling this with Kindle Fire with only 8 GB
Easiest way is go to settings/apps and in app clear data

That would just delete your login info from the app. Even if you uninstall it, that folder and all the contents remain.

I did the clear data just to make sure, and sure enough, the usb storage data remained. Only thing that was cleared was my account off of the app.

lol id do the same but once in a while the appstore has some good free apps.. like today.. that remote desktop thing.
Looks like it comes down to two things - either reinstall the AppStore every single time a good free app comes in, or clear out the Amazon cache folder on a daily/weekly basis >.> bleh
Thanks a lot, i had 1.1 gigs of apps stored there
Thanks to this thread I just got back a little over 2GB of space. Sheesh.
Do apps have access to a list of other installed apps?
Maybe amazon doesn't have access, so it doesn't know what apps are installed unless they leave it there?

Sending music from PC to Android

Anybody know how to do this wirelessly? I've tried dropbox but it only asked me to listen to the music not download it onto my memory
Sent from my SGH-T989
There's the Spotify App, which you need to have premium membership to sync over Wifi.
There's DoubleTwist and its AirSync which also work well, again AirSync is a paid app
You could potentially try the Airdroid app from the market, this one is free, if you only plan on sending a few songs because the transfer speed is super slow.
You can also do bluetooth transfer
If your music is in a shared folder
you can use ES File Explorer to connect to folder/PC to transfer files. It works very well and is very fast.
Use kies air.

One thing about Android....hitting menu everywhere and long presses often give you options. Not as easy to navigate a some other mobile OS, but allows for more functionality.

You can set it to download via wifi only and make it cache all your albums. It could work.

[Q] Best way to make the switch to Nexus from a phone that actually has a Micro SD?

So i'm ordering the GNex from Sprint on October 1st. What's the best way to copy all data to the Nexus from what my old phone will be, which is the Epic 4G Touch. Are there any apps I could use? I know that using nandroids is a definite no. Would restoring apps through aTitanium backup on my E4GT be okay to do? Or is there something easier I could use? And other than that, I could just copy all my photos and music over to the GNex, I know that. Just certain app data and game saves are what I'm worried about.
You don't need external sd... If you link your dropbox to your mobile, you will have 50gb

What I was asking is transferring App data. such as Angry Birds progress and other stuff like that. I could easily transfer SMS, pictures, and videos.
Drag and drop? Seriously, you just connect to your computer and drag and drop all the files
