[Q] Sony SmartWatch Compatibility

Hello,
Is Sony SmartWatch compatible with Galaxy Note 2? Has anyone tried using it? I'm planning to buy one, is it worth or not?

Hi,
Do you have standard or custom rom installed?
I use the omega (3.0), no connection possible (not detected in BT).
nevermind the above.
I reset the watch (15 secs button press) reinstalled all smartwatch software and it works perfectly

Sony Smartwatch MN2 call handler app issue

My friend bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and i tried to connect the Sony SmartWatch MN2 of mine with it, and its paired perfect, every thing is fine with it but when there is a call i can only find the decline button in smartwatch no Answer button, so is the same thing happening with you ??
Is there any option to make the answer button activate, or it is not working only for me ??
And what about the music App ??
Please Help me !! as i wanted to buy Note 2, but dont want to waste my SmartWatch MN2

if the sony smartwatch is anything like my motorola motoactv, then the answer button only pops up if you have headphones connected to the watch itself. if no headphones detected, it will default to decline.

It works, but not flawlessly. There's an issue with the OS that can activate talk-back (or parts thereof). It only comes into play if you install some of the third-party notification apps, like Watch It (really good). It can be fixed permanently (in a non-ideal why) or temporarily fixed (less convenient but does not require disabling Engines). You'll know when you've got this issue, because your phone will unexpectedly say to you "the folder is opening..." when you open a folder. It's a minor irritation, but it gets on your nerves very quickly.
The watch itself works very well with my Note 2. Never dropped connection so far, seems to reliably get notifications (I have actually started to turn some off - as I get more than I thought I did!).
I like how it works with my phone. I see the Smartwatch as an evolutionary step to a decent version, which hopefully Sammy or Google will release. And at $100, you can't really go wrong.
Quite a few apps, and one or two of the paid ones are worth it, but mostly the free ones will do you just fine.

Actually i just wanted to know that the apps for smartwatch are perfectly working with Note 2 or not, as i tried the call handler app in smartwatch with note 2, then i find that there is no accept button on smartwatch to accept the call only decline button is there and also find the issue with the music app. So the issue is just with mine or every one facing the same . If you are facing the same issue then is there any way to get rid of this.
Please please please reply.

The SmartWatch is not fully compatible with the Note 2 for the phone answering App. It only works fully with Sony phones. There is no accept-call option in anything other than Sony phones.

Considering you probably will want to take the phone out of your pocket before answering it, I don't see that as a real issue. "watch it" (and other programs that use accessibility settings) clashes with some other settings on the phone causing unexpected voice feedback and disabling the continuous input on the stock keyboard.. Other than that its fine..

Can we control our music player functions like play/pause,next,previous,forward-rewind also how is the battery backup with continuous use. I am also thinking of buying this product. Also does it have a earphone audio out port?

Yes you can control music: start/stop, last/next, volume up/down.
No, there is no earphone port (use bluetooth headphones - who needs cables?)
I have found the watch controls music flawlessly, albeit not very conveniently in all honesty. Personally, I use the watch more to screen incoming messages and notifications. I don't try to do anything too fancy as it's easier to just use the phone.
On the subject of incompatibility with the TTS engines, there's no doubt this is an inconvenience, but not a great one. What happens is that the Note II (and I think other Android phones) starts talking to you when you don't want it to. For me, the biggy was it speaking out aloud "the folder is open..." (or "...closed") whenever I opened/closed a folder containing Apps. To say the least, it's distracting. If you disable the TTS engines (as I have done, undone, redone etc.) to fix the "folder is open..." issue (which fixes it for me, anyway) then you lose "DRIVING MODE" capability (which I rarely use) at least, and probably other speech apps too. The good news is that Navigation still works fine, even with the Samsung and Google TTS engines disabled. This is clearly not ideal, but only Google can fix it at the OS level, and they seem to be in no hurry at all.
I still think the Sony watch is a good product, as it allows me to receive and screen emails, RSS, tweets and to read them discreetly. It's much less distracting (and much less obvious, e.g. at meetings) than trying to read a phone.
I do still hope Samsung looks at this market though, as they will clean Sony's clock if they ever launch a similar product.

I am so glad someone else has this problem, thought i was going crazy.

Heh. No it's very common. I know of two fixes: one is TEMPORARY, but does not require you to disable any apps; the other seems to PERMANENTLY fix the problem, but it results in disabling TTS apps. You have to figure out which of these two evils is the lessor:
Temp fix - go to setting-> applications and find the two TTS Aps (Google and Samsung). Clear the cache on both. It temporarily fixes the problem (on my Note II anyway). Bad news: it comes back, seems to be random. I have never figured out why, and now I don;t even try...
Permanent fix (the one I have today). Go to settings->apps and DISABLE said google and Samsung TTS engines. Problem goes away, but you may lose some important functionality (I haven't - Driving Mode is killed, but I don;t use it anyway). You can always re-enable these apps, by going to settings->apps, scrolling all the way to the bottom and re-enabling them. I have tried re-enabling, but this little bug comes right back after a random delay, so now, I just accept it.

PS - don't blame Samsung, blame google. This is their problem.
PPS - all SonyWatch notification apps seem to trigger this - on my Note II anyway. I tried 'em all.

Anyone else having issues with "Ok Google" working on note 4

So, Ive done the training and ticked off, the right boxes for ok google to kick in, when I say the phrase, and after the first training it worked the first time or two I tried it. Then after waiting ten minutes from the screen being turned off, nothing. The funny thing is I did exactly the same thing on a nvicia shield tablet and that works every time. Now, I dont know as ive read that " hi galaxy" if that is set on can interfere, but since ok google doesnt work from my off screen. I've found that " Hi galaxy seems to work each and every time. The interesting note here is that if im on a screen that shows the google mic icon, if i say ok google it responds normally. Im just trying to figure out why its working for some and not others loke myself. Anyone else having issues with this command or know how to fix it???

I'm having the same issue. I've retrained the voice model a few times. I installed GNL and had absolutely no issues with it working then which leads me to believe it's something to do with the Touchwiz interface and not Google Now settings.
--UPDATE--
I went in to S Voice and disabled the Voice Wake Up command and this has helped. Now Google Now responds even with the screen off.

I'll try that...thx...but i'd like to have both working....if anyone figures it out.

If your screen is turn off, and you say Ok Google, and hear the noise but the screen stays off and you can't really do anything, ENABLE the lockscreen, then it will work from screen off, apparently currently you have to have the lockscreen enabled for it to wake up to a normal Google Now screen like the Moto X does

Hello I have noticed that ok Google is not recognizable from any of my devices either my smartwatch 3 or my note 3 I have already tried to set up ok google but it can recognize my voice I have tried to teach to my phone the sound of my voice but nothing I can't even pass the first object of learning any idea how to fix this problem? Are you sure it's your devices and not you? I find "Okay Google" to be awkward to pronounce, especially several times in a row, due to the "k" and double "g" combo. Wish we could change the hotword. I just touch the watch...find this to be easier and more reliable. Once I do that, I find the boice recognition to be surprisingly accurate, even with names, foreign-sounding places, etc. Does your watch recognize voice if you activate it by touch? If not, you may have a microphone problem. Also, if you have an accent or something, or a stutter, I'd try having someone else say it to see if it's the device or it's you. And also, make sure the watch is lit up first and out of ambient mode. I don't think it works when the watch is in low power mode. As for not working on the phone, I had that issue on the Note3 as well when using Nova Launcher, worked fine in TouchWiz. But I'm pretty sure the watch keyword detection is not dependant on the phone, since I can activate mine even when it's disconnected from my phone.

I'm having issues with my OK Google too. It's like my watch microphone isn't working. I can't do any voice dictation into the watch. It just says "Sorry didn't catch that" when I talk to it. It worked at one point and seems to work sporadically. Now it doesn't work at all.

Not sure for how long but I think it's something like 1 week that voice commands don't work any more for me.
They are opened as web searches instead.
eg. I used to say "OK Google, set a timer for 5 minutes" and the timer would start. Now it opens web link suggestion...
Same with most other voice commands that used to be really useful.
Anyone having same problem?

I bought one sony sw3 3 days ago, and have the same problem...I say the voice comands and it always do the search... anyone solved this? In my note 2 the comands are working fine, like call someone, send a text...

Ok google was working fine but now when I tap the mic button on Google search its says can't open microphone. Please help. Also went to settings and all apps and couldn't find google search

Try a reboot, if not go to applications, Google voice, clear cashe/data.

Same thing just happened to me. Had use OK Google earlier today and now the mic will not open. Since this has happen to others, what is the fix?

then go to installed apps.
then scroll down and select google app.
scroll down and select permission manager.
just wait a bit and you will get all the permission options.
now make sure that a green tick beside "record audio" and "make phone call" option.
if not the just click on the particular option and select "accept".

In simple words - another proggie uses this process and keeps the mic busy. As soon as it releases the mic it will become available to OkDoodle).
Just check it our - restart the phone and as soon as you can tap the mic - it will work. then it will say the same thing - cannot open the microphone.
Solution. In my case i had to find and delete an app that was using the mic non-stop - it was navigator. Go to settings>applications>app manager>slide to running applications. Now "stop" an app that uses any sort of microphone input - it could be a navigation, a dictaphone, a keyboard (remember, theres a little mic icon in da corner). It did help me to resolve this issue. Unfortunately, I am now using a google navi instead of my preferred one...
technically: record the log file of processes, check which process opens this -
android.media.AudioRecord;
android.media.MediaRecorder;
android.media.AudioFormat

Another good reason to keep stock Google apps that work properly.

balashandr is right, I had the same problem and the solution for me was to uninstall a voice assistant had installed, restart the phone and ready (I have a Note4 by the way)

If you have the app audiko ringtones uninstall it and your mic will work instantly it worked perfectly for me. When I went s voice it told me that another app was using my microphone so I remembered that app that I just installed deleted it and boom my mic is fixed

You're right. Since latest update a couple of days Audiko app blocks other app usage to microphone.

An alternative method is to modify the app permissions and ignore microphone. You get to keep the app and the problem is solved as well.

ok google only works once after a restart then will only hear the ok google part. I installed a voice app yesterday called discord I disabled it first then tried no luck again only working after a restart and then only hearing ok google. I completely uninstalled the discord app and restarted and STILL only works right one time, then after only hears the ok google part. I have systematically turned off any app I could access to microphone only set for google. STILL no joy.
is this a ok google thing? or is my phone buggered?

Turning off s voice worked for me. I was also getting can't open microphone when using ok google on any screen

finally i found the problem, just go to samsung s voice and turn off mic permission

android Q builds for many phones have a google assistant glitch, deny mic perms to google app fixes it and regular microphone works again

OK Google with screen off

I have been using the Moto Z2 Play for almost a year now, and the feature i used every day is waking the phone when the screen is off by using the OK/Hey Google command.
The tooltip in the Google voice match settings used to read: Access your assistant any time you say "OK Google", even if your screen is off or you're using your favorite apps.
However after updating the Google app to version 8.28 the tooltip changed to "whenever your screen is ON" instead of "even if your screen is off".
And sure enough, the phone will no longer respond to commands until i pick up the phone and manually turn on the screen, which defeats the purpose.
Why was this feature removed? I have tried everything and finally had to uninstall Google updates and install an older version(8.24) from apk mirror to get Assistant to work properly again.
What is even more puzzling to me is that this problem seems specific to my Z2 Play, i have the latest Google app version(8.28) on my Xiaomi phone, and the tooltip still says "even if your screen is off" and it works as it should.
I tried Googling this issue, i checked the Motorolla support forums, the Google assistant support forums etc. and couldn't find any mention of this issue.

This has also happened to me! I thought I just needed to reboot the phone to maybe fix a background service that had stopped, but I also see that "...even when your screen is off" has been removed from the Voice settings. This is one of the features that made the Moto Z line attractive to me, and I literally use (well, used) the feature several times a day, especially while driving. I also use Android Auto and now I have to either touch the microphone on my truck's head unit screen, press and hold the voice button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds, or unlock my phone so I can talk to it. I have a self-built Android Auto in my other car and it also has this issue, which I now know is not related to either car's system. Thank you for posting and bringing this to our attention.
I think this must be a bug in the latest Google app. Does anyone know where we can submit bug reports for the app, or voice control/Google Assistant in general?

Has any else experienced this problem, or does anyone have ideas about what to do to potentially resolve it? Surely OP and I can't be the only two people who have witnessed this issue.

It is likely that there just aren't many Z2 play users who frequent xda, and the ones that do never noticed the issue because they don't use the feature.
