Hi all
I'm going to buy the Asus zenfone 2 551ml and i have just a little problem.
I have seen how soft buttons are placed on the smartphone and i think that the back button could be too far to reach with one hand. i know that there is the one hand mode but regrdless this, i wanna ask 2 main things:
1) Performing the root on the smartphone i will loose the warranty?
2)with the root and by means the usage of an 3rd part app or xposed frameworkd, is possible perform a re-mapping of these buttons?
Thanks to all
Best regards
Root usually means you lose warranty. App ops does work with root. You can already customize switch apps button a bit.

There isn't a custom recovery yet for this phone, but root should allow you to unroot which may restore your warranty. The warranty is only for the original country. If you buy a TW version and you live outside Taiwan you don't have a warranty.
Also the phone has one handed mode that give you on screen buttons. You can customize the size. Some games don't work, but stock apps do. See attachment.

I have a question regarding pre-root. Say I flash the pre-root rom using adb since there is no custom recovery, if I want to go back to stock, I just unroot thru the superSU or which ever root app? Or Can I also flash the stock rom downloaded from Asus to convert it to stock?

I'm trying to set my phone back to stock for an ATT warranty exchange. I had previously rooted with Casual. I used a unrooting app, then used a couple apps to verify I didn't have root. Most apps didn't find root, but one found busybox. I looked for it, and low and behold it's there in system/bin, and protected of course, so I can't delete it. How do I delete it? TIA!

Thanks, I had tried that, but because I'm partly unrooted, I can't even get past the busybox alert screen telling me I'm (obviously) not properly rooted.

Can't you just flash a stock rom?

How do I do that? I am decent with technology, but have to have clear directions.
Thanks so much! You are all awesome.
Check to see what your phone says about the flash counter, in download mode. Also check if it says it's modified . I have done a warranty exchange a few times with no problems. I always went on download mode, I don't think they are going to use that specific app at the warranty place. After going threw the warranty so many times for black blobs. I'm almost curious if they just check to see if it boots stock with no issues. And gets thrown in a bin that says '' fixed''. Because I've gotten the same phone twice lol.
Anyway, Goodluck, and don't worry about it so much. It will be fine
Thanks for the help! I got it sent back and it was showing not modified when I got it back to stock.
Hey Guy/Gals,
I'm very new to this so bare with me.
I have an LG Optimus E971 from Rogers here in Canada. On the home screen the dock icons are unresponsive. However inside an app at the bottom of the screen the icons work. So I assume this is a software issue and wish to reinstall or re-inject the firmware into the phone. I'm looking a step by step how to on doing this, current version of is 4.1.2.
EXAMPLE:
-Dock icons (icons at very bottom of screen itself) are unresponsive.
-Landscape view works, as the icons move to the side of the screen
-Open app, Instagram, all buttons at bottom work (feed, explore, camera, news, profile).
Nothing? Just ads, huh
If you are not rooted and your bootlader is locked the best way to fix things in my opinion is to hard reset your device(to delete everything from inside that may couse the problem)install lg pc suite from lg and reinstall the phones firmware, this tool has an option to do this l've done it before. If you are rooted and your bootloader is unlocled just flash kdz and do a hard reset after.

Are you certain you're able to reinstall the firmware? All I see is that I can Backup/Restore and Update Firmware.
There's no where that says I can re-install the firmware. When I google it only picks up on firmware updates
Yes I am sure I did it my pc is down and I can't tell you exactly where is the option but I can tell you what I remember it's in the upper right corner next to help option or the other one probably and I think it says something about troubleshooting

If you still can't find it maybe you should update the program to the latest version

I've tried both PIE support from play store and g3 tweakbox, same problem, the selection window below stops where the softkeys are " supposed " to be, don't know how to solve it

D855 version and 4.4.2 rooted
v10e,f,g,etc? first, try reinstalling dual window. apk with titanium backup, and if that doesn't work, and if it means that much, try upgrading software. you'll be able to stay on KK. otherwise, may as well go to LP. it works well and there is one click root + twrp

v10g eur, thanks I will try that! I really don't want to go lollipop I've only heard complaints about it, killing batteries etc
quite the opposite for me; I had a 9000 mah zero lemon battery on my g3 in KK days, now on LP I use the normal battery because battery life is good enough. create a nandroid, move it to your external sd card, clean upgrade to LP with LG flash tool 2014. if you don't like it, just restore to the backup and it's like nothing changed
up.
anyone encountered this?
OP, report back what you have tried
Hello,
It's been a long time that I'm trying to find a solution with the notification issue that we all moto users have. I tried third party applications such as noLED, dynamic notifications, notifications manager, acDisplay etc but nothing gave me back the satisfaction of the simplicity of moto display that were breathing. As everyone knows Motorola - Lenovo decided to completely remove the option of breathing/pulsing the notification screen which means that there is no way to be informed except for waving the hand over the screen.
The funniest part of the whole story is that while you open the moto display app, you find a guide inside which in the first says to you '' Battery friendly notifications fade in and out so you 're always in the know''. It might be a good idea to inform motorola somehow to make a decision because she feels significantly confused about that.
So, trying to find a solution, I'm asking if there is any one of you who find a way to make the notifications ''be repeated''. The other two things that I thought is to find an old version of moto display that had the breathing mode enabled or to modify the script of the updated version.
I wish not to be alone to that golgotha!
Thank you

EDIT: Looking for root testers. The .apk file is in post #3.
I need some root testers for a modified MotoDisplay.apk version by me.
I edited the code of the apk and I made a try to enable the ''breathing'' option in the main menu of Moto>Display> ''new tool''.
This is my first trial MotoDisplay.apk. I hope to have appeared a new setting in Moto Display settings where you can enable the breathing mode. It is based on the Moto_Display_06.071.4_.apk update.
Need some root testers to install the app. (rename the MotoDisplay_tsoump_trial_1.apk to MotoDisplay.apk and replace it to system/priv-app/MotoDisplay/ )
I have tried so much to find a way to install a system .apk without root, but I couldn't. This is why I'm looking for root testers.
I'm looking forward to respondig me!
Thanks in advance!

My problem is the warranty. I don't want to void it because someday I will face up the common problem with the battery drain.
Did anybody try the new .apk?
Hi everyone,
I'm relatively "new" to this world, as my last experiences with modding were with Lg G2.
Just wanted to ask :
- If I root with magisk, how does it work with future system updates? Can I use auto update as for stock, or I have to flash updates through some custom recovery?
- Is there a possibility to Call Record ? With or without root?
Thank you a lot, everyone.

Hi, if you have a rooted phone, you cannot update the phone. Magisk has a function called "install to inactive slot (Aftet OTA)" which will allow you to update the phone and the new update will be installed with root right away. But I don't have good experience with this function because I got bootloop (moto g60). You have a Samsung device, so I would recommend installing the firmware for your phone and installing the update using the Odin program. I don't have experience installing firmware using costum recovery on Samsung so I can't say if it works or not. Yes it is possible to record calls, but I think you will need root. Look. I hope it helped you have a nice day

Hi Jan !
So I should root and update through Odin and I imagine that after every update the phone will go in factory reset. I think for now I'll go studying Odin a little bit.
Thank you very much, and have a nice day too.
