I need to send my phone back to Verizon. I ran the RUU, relocked bootloader, went back to s-on, and now I have a Tampered flag on bootloader.
Is there a trick for getting rid of this? I am stock across the board. Dunno why it is still showing tampered.

Can't do it without s-off. So s-off again and remove the banner.

I'm in the same boat. I tried using Sunshine to get S-Off again, but I'm left with a message saying unlock failed and SuperSU is missing binaries.
Hello ,
I have an HTC M8 ( HTC__203 CID ) and i want to bring it back to fully stock. Lock my bootloader and install official ROM.
I follow this GUIDE but i have to be s-off in order to finish it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2735235
How can i turn my m8 to S-OFF from S-ON ?
I cant pay SUNSHINE 25$ ..
Is there any other way?
Or any way to lock my bootloader?
Without s-off you can put the flag from UNLOCKED to RELOCKED
only with s-off you can let it show LOCKED. sunshine is the only real (and cheapest) way to s-off the device. No other method available.
The nearest you can get to stock is to run the appropriate RUU with a relocked bootloader. Or restore the matching stock nandroid backup for your device and flash back the stock recovery, then relock the bootloader.
That's about it. Ow yeah and please post questions in the Q&A section next time. This is the GENERAL section.

The only real reason to return the phone to full stock with LOCKED bootloader is for warranty purpose. Is that what you are trying to do?
If so, then sunshine is the only way to s-off.

Yeah something like that. I want to sell it so the person who will take it to have full warranty access.
Thanx both of you. The problem is that in Greece ( where i live ) i dont have the access to my paypal in order to pay Sunshine because of Bank System.
We have Capital Controls so we cant buy anything from outside of our country.

So whats the proper RUU to flash. And how can i flash it in relocked bootloader ?
I tried this -> 0P6BIMG_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_4.16.401.10_Radio_1.25.214500021.06G_20.68.4196t.01_F_release_417809_signed
and this one -> One_M8_4.16.401.10_stock_system_dump.zip
but after i type " fastboot flash zip ruu.zip " in the end it shows me this error -> 12 signature verify fail
What does it mean ?
I want to sell my phone and need to get it back to stock.
I´ve unrooted it with a Nandroid Backup+flashed a Stock Recovery and locked the bootloader.
But in the Bootloader stands: Software Status Modified.
I´m S-ON.
How can i get that away?

Hi, Passi0509...
I'm no expert regarding the M8, but I'm guessing your bootloader isn't actually showing as LOCKED but as RELOCKED.
(As I understand it, the bootloader has three possible states: LOCKED, UNLOCKED and RELOCKED).
From what I've read, in order to get it to show as LOCKED, you need S-OFF.
See here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
So maybe that has something to do with your problem.
Anyhow, I'm sure there'll be somebody with more expertise than myself to help you.
Rgrds,
Ged.

RELOCKED instead of LOCKED will not result in the "software modified" status.
Additionally, I don't recommend the OP do s-off just to make it LOCKED; as I do not believe this will change the "software modified" status.

You need to flash RUU. go back to 100% stock, because your S-On it has to be the RUU that matches your CID
**Software Status: Official*** = OTA

Because of problems in the past where people who were not stock tried to take OTAs and got bricked (happened to many people on the M7), HTC has changed things so that you have to be 100% stock including recovery, bootloader locked, to take an OTA. Even having /system mounted r/w will cause it to stop.
As noted, the only safe way to do this when you're s-on is to run/flash a RUU file. Alternatively, you could go s-off and update manually (which is simpler), but this is a route only for experienced users.
How do you do the above for warranty claim
I need to send the phone in for replacement / maintenance
it is unlocked US version running Verizon ROM on Verizon network
How do I unroot, lock the bootloader, and s-on?
I know they might not care, I still would like to restore everything to prevent any surprises or rejection
please list the steps. Thank you very much

First thing to do is backup everything from your phone to your PC. Then run a RUU ( I guess that would be US unlocked, not Verizon). After RUU is flashed, go to download mode and issue a command "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" (without quotes). That will restore your security flag back to s-on. Then use Sunshine to set bootloader status to LOCKED and s-off (really the easiest way to set it to LOCKED, not RELOCKED). Finally, run "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" once again, and done. You are 100% stock. It's much faster and simpler than it looks from my description.

Does this remove the red text on the start up screen? One look at that and HTC knows the phone has been altered. On Samsung devices once Knox is tripped you get a message saying so and it's permanent. Just curious.

Red text will be removed after you flash a RUU. HTC is much simpler than Samsung regarding that. Just to be on the safe side, check bootloader status after each step. It's a quick procedure, but you're safe
S-off should be ok just make sure its locked not unlocked.

Did all that (installing the RUU) and received only "re-locked" since it already was S-ON. Sunshine now cannot be used, because the RUU was installed. What did I do wrong, then?

You can use Sunshine. But, if I understood correctly, your phine was never s-off. If that's true, you need to unlock your bootloader again, use Sunshine to get s-off, and then follow my steps

Tecnicaly, you only need to unlock the bootloader and use Sunshine. No need to root, but, in general, the answer is yes
rooting without s-off

how do you even get a verizon htc 10 with oreo installed rooted in the first place if the HTCdev site is unable to unlock your bootloader, Sunshine is unable to unlock your bootloader or S-Off? There is nothing on the internet that has this "Solved" issue that I've read. However after reading your response, are you sure anyone can unlock bootloader and then use sunshine without root?

If you read the first post, you will see that OP is running an US unlocked with Verizon ROM. In that case my steps are correct. If you have Verizon phone, you can't even unlock bootloader, so this is of no use for you

No. Once you pay for Sunshine, it's free for you to use as many times sa you need, as long as you don't change your motherboard
