It takes mine ages. I can leave it plugged in for hours and it only charges a bit. Right now Battery Monitor widget estimates 8 hours on "AC" and 12 hours on "USB" for a 100% charge - 3/4 hours from 64%. That's slow, no?
I only get +2-400mA (341mA right now, sometimes less, or more) when plugged into my 5v-1A AC charger. How about you guys?
Any one else got charge times from a program like Battery Monitor Widget?
Takes about 4 hours from 1% to 100%
my HOX is charging.. i plug it at 9% 1 hour and 40 minute ago.. its 71% now..

That's very very slow. Check your cables, are they frayed? Cos I'm currently using the cable that came with my Desire Z and it's starting to fray pretty bad, and I'm only getting about 300-400mAh charge in. Used to charge at around 750+. I switched USB Cables (same charger, just different cables) and my charge rate jumped back to 750. Do note that charge rate slows down the closer it gets to 100%.
Mine took almost 3hrs for 0 to 100% charge.
3-4 hours from 5% to 100%
On the USB in college I get 20% is 2 hours lol on charger about 3 hours.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
That's weird then. Maybe I should buy a new cable. Do most of you get 700mA+ readings when charging?
The cable is very new, but I did get it from a shady seller - maybe it has a problem. I will get a new USB cable this evening.
It COULD be the problem? That's only from my own testing though. Try it with a friend's cable or something. Nokia and Samsung phones use the same Micro USB to charge.
Mine will go from 2% to 100% in 3 hour 5 min with an USB charger of 1.5A output.

Unfortunately the HOX is limited to a 1A input charge /:
i'm at my wits end, i bought an HTC one X today, and plugged it to the charger cos it was 7% of energy, it's been off for 3 hours and i turn it on and it says 8%, i'm using the cable and the charger that came with the cellphone, what could i do?, i even got a message while running the setup procedure that the phone consumes more energy than what it receives via AC, what to do? i'm worried

You've got a misbehaving app somewhere. Restart your phone and try again.
with the original charger and cable, it takes me roughly 3 hrs to fully charge my one X from 10%~ to 100%
with the cheap cable I bought and the Iphone charger, it takes me 4 hrs to charge from 9% to 90% ~ about 5 hrs to fully charge ~
I don't use my laptop's usb to charge, and I believe it will take much longer ~
With the official HTC cable that came in the box its taken me 3 hours to charge about 40%. Please someone tell me this is faulty.
Also the battery has never lasted more than 2hours 20 mins on screen with medium/heavy usage. and no more than 1 hour 30 with heavy usage (HD Video/streaming)
ALso when i unplug the charger at 100% it drops down to 90% within 10 minutes and then continues to plummet. I got around 6hours off screen time with music playing before it died.
Anyone have this issue?

The same thing happened to me today. I've noticed charging from a computer's USB gives a higher charge amperage.
I just ordered a 2A USB charger, but I also found that if I power off the phone and charge it, it charges very quickly.

That sounds like a serious problem. I would send it back. Although, you should poke around and see what's consuming all the energy.
Charging times without looking at the battery monitoring application reporting where energy is spent does not help much to understand where the problem is.
If the phone is really idle with good GSM coverage, no particular GSM activity and Wifi switched off, then more than 2 or 3 hours either shows that the charger isn't powerful enough (could happen with a car cigarette-lighter->USB charger or any charger that delivers less than 1A/H), or a faulty charger or battery.
If one has good charging times when the phone is switched off, then the problem is more likely related to the software running in the phone, fiddling with the phone while it's charging (keeping the screen on) or because of RF activity (GSM, Wifi).
So first switch the phone off, charge it at 100%, look at the time it took and if it's okay then look at the battery monitoring app to understand where energy is spent when the HOX is turned on...
what apps or widget do u guys use to see how much current(mA) is being charge to the phone?
hi all
mine charges from 25% to full in a little over 2 hrs
thats with the htc charger that came with it an the usb supplied by htc .... i have other leads that i used with my old deisre (non htc) and i gfet a very slow charge time .... i have got from ebay som high quality leads (if 2.99 post free is high quality) and they charge quickly so id say the onex is quite fussy over what leads you use to charge it
mind you im loving the phone have rooted mine and have the leedriod rom which is awsome

Battery discharging while on charger.
The past 2 nights I've had the Acro S on charge via the wall charger through the USB plug (not in the cradle - due to a protective case) and during the night I noticed the phone charge with the Red LED showing and then it goes Green showing it above 90% - then later on in the night/early morning I've noticed the green light has gone out and checked the time and noticed that the battery has discharged to 80%
Looking at the battery stats it shows the phone had reached full capacity and then been discharging for a number of hours - the odd thing here is that the plug was still firmly in the phone and plugged into the wall with no chance of it being bumped - the other odd thing is that the charging lightening bolt was also still showing but the percentage was going down as I was trouble shooting all this.
Eventually I unplugged the phone a couple of times and the phone started charging again and reached 100% and was still like this when I picked it up to use it for the day.
This has occurred 2 nights in a row.
The manual says that the phone will reach full capacity while on the charger and will also self discharge and recharge again by itself but I think a 20% drop is a bit more that what would be considered normal especially when you want the phone fully charged in the morning.
If anyone knows what is going on here or has experienced this kind of behavior I'd be keen to know about it.

This is a battery charging question.

Nobody else has this problem yet I see.......
Its been a few days and this morning I've got the following
0650 hrs - battery showing discharge after being on the charger all night - red charging LED on and screen showing lightening bold charging symbol but battery still discharging and sitting at 81%
0701 hrs - phone still on charge, battery now 79%
0741 hrs - phone still on charger, battery now 77% - I cant believe that this is part of the battery cycling on charge
I'll contact Sony today and see if the battery is faulty - phone is only 2 weeks old.

Ok - so yesterday I went to the Sony support office in Khyber Pass New Zealand and the tech there said they dont support Acro S because its not been supplied by a NZ Sony distributor. So I then went to the place I bought it and they didnt want to look at the phone because its Rooted - I didn't tell them the boot loader is also unlocked - but they gave me an adapter so I could use the official Sony charger that I got with the phone (until now I've been using my old Xperia Neo charger) in the hope that the lower voltage rating might change things (they'd had acro Z which didn't charge on the Neo type charger they supplied).
So I got home and changed the power adapter over to the one that came with the phone using the adapter plug.
Last night I put the phone on charge and woke this morning to see that it had charged fully again and then since around 0400 it had discharged to 83%. I unplugged the phone and plugged it in again and it did not start charging - I did this a number of times and it didnt start charging but it did show that it was charging with the red LED and the lightening bolt on the battery and everywhere else it showed charge but the graph kept going down and the percentage kept dropping.
I had to reboot the phone for the battery to start charging.
I decided that I would re-lock the boot loader and repair the phone via Sony Update
Relock thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863179
Sony Update

On page 3 of the relock thread I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44093334&postcount=28 and waiting a reply from him to see if his issues were similar.
I've - re-locked and used Sony Update so now I'm back to square one I hope - I'm still going to root but I'm not going to bother unlocking the boot loader because I didn't find a kernel that could read external hard drives.
I'll update this if the phone continues to have a faulty charge...........
Hello,
So I was at about 10% when I went to bed last night (around 11 PM). I plugged my phone into an outlet charger (the one that came with my old Nexus 4, not the one in the G3 box) and when I woke up (645 AM) the phone was only at 65% charged? I can't imagine that it would take over 7 hours to do a complete charge. Has anyone else experienced this? The only thing I can think of is that my old charger produces less output than the one in the box, but I haven't tested it out yet.
Lou
Try it again with the actual g3 charger so you can know for sure if it's a phone issue or a charger issue.

Over the past few weeks I have been testing all kinds of chargers and cables. I noticed that the G2 charger is the closest to G3 but not as good. The issue is the cable itself. Kopi 20awg with oem charger, g2 will work, charges at the same speed as the original one.

Did your phone stop charging in the middle of the night? That happened to mine on the first night when I used an old iPhone (1000mA) charger. It just quit somewhere in the 60% range. Switching to a higher powered charger (iPad - 2100mA) it charges very quickly. On my desktop at work, the USB3 port I have charges at an abysmally slow rate (prob 500mA or less, and in a lousy reception area so it's burning 100-200 of that just keeping the network alive).
The boxed charger, btw, is 1800mA.
Thanks for the responses. I will try the charger that came with the device overnight tonight and report back in case anyone else has similar issues.

The phone/battery are literally 2 days old. Can't imagine it's the battery already. I will do some more troubleshooting since is obviously not a common occurrence.

Strange
try wiping battery in cwm if helps, and install super charge as some custom build roms are buggy.
My Xperia ZL wouldn't charging from getting too hot in the middle of the night. I would wake up to a very low battery. Between the screen waking up, trying to find a signal, and covering it with my pillow it would get too hot. Haven't had the issue with the G3 yet but I have woken up to the screen on and that stupid battery fully charged message.

my scren doesnt stay on when battery is full. it will light up for a brief period of time and then turns off. the green led stays on.
The nexus 4 charger is probably rated at a much lower amperage 1.2A actually https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_4_Power_Adapter?id=nexus_4_charger&hl=en
However your cable will also play a big role in this. The rating on the cable will determine whether or not it will actually allow that much current to pass through it. The stock charger works great, it chargers in less than 2 hours from 0 to 100%. I only use my nexus 7 charger to charge my spare battery on its cradle which is no big deal because it doesn't need to be fast.
Mine takes about 2 hours and 20 min for 0 to 100%
That charger may also be sending dirtier power because it's older too. I'm amazed at how fast mine charges. I haven't timed it, but it has to charge over 35% in an hour if you start at around 20%. Hell, I have started wirelessly charging with a Powerbot (connected to official charger) at about 15% at night and woken up a few hours later and checked the time and the thing was at 100%.
RESOLVED
OK, this is resolved, seems like the issue was in fact the charger I was using. I used the one that came with the unit and it charged up no problem. At least that issue is solved in case anyone else runs into. Thanks everyone.
Anyone having an issue with their phone only charging to 98%? It will only each 100% if I unplug it for a bit once it reaches 98% and then plug it back in.

not seeing that on mine.
It does this by design. It prevents battery damage and prolongs battery life (in terms of life expectancy and usability over years).

that happened top me on my first charge
just give it a couple charges it will start going to 100
I have to say battery life is great for me on pixel 2 xl. every time i charge it will go all the way to 100 %.
Hmm, I've charged it overnight for awhile now and it still won't get to 100%. It'll say that it's fully charged but will just show 98%
Experienced the same thing on my Pixel 2 XL. I did manage to fix it by powering the phone off for 10mins with it plugged in/charging. Once rebooted it showed 100%. Otherwise it will stay at 98 or 99% forever...
Strange thing happened yesterday. It finally charged to 100% and 5 minutes later I unlock the phone and its back down to 99% while still plugged in to the OEM wall charger (showing charging rapidly).
Copy and paste from my post in the Real Life Review section:
I would leave my 2 XL charging overnight (stock charger and cable) and when I wake up around 7-8 hours later, the percentage would either be 97%, 98%, or 99%. I've rarely seen my phone go to 100% since getting it on the 18th.
Whenever the battery hits 50% and I go and charge it mid-day, it would take a painfully long time to charge up after around the 85% mark (the general consensus and expected). I would check and it would be at 99%. After around 10 minutes, I check again and it shows 98%.
Needless to say, I disabled "show battery percentage". If the battery icon is full, then it's 100% to me.
I have this with my 2 xl too. It'll stop at 98-99, and if I unplug/plug back in a few times or reboot a few times it'll eventually get to 100. But it'll drop from 100 only after a few minutes even unused. Not sure if by design or a minor hardware issue.
Mine was charging overnight to 100% now for the last 2 or 3 days it's only been going to 98% overnight. Battery life is still good though.
I was wondering of was something to do with Battery Stats, maybe needs cache cleared or resetting somehow.
Actually I cannot even get mine to charge to 100%

Actually I cannot get mine to charge to 100 percent except two charges ago. That being said there must be something wrong as using the white charger and cable to go from 2% - 98% it took more than 5 hours ! I cannot get it to go past 99 % and I have been charging with phone off then with on and then according to Google support tried safemode but still no difference. Highly frustrating for a $1k phone. I finally shut phone off for the last 20 minutes and then checked the charge and it is now at 100% but what a battle and a SLOW SLOW charging phone.
I never charge mine to 100%, I usually take it off the charger around 85%. Not had any battery problems, don't think it's ever necessary to hit 100%.
I've had the opposite. Wake up it's 100. Listen to music on the way to work for about an hour (bluetooth). When I get there it is still 100 percent. Put it in pocket for another hour, check phone, 96%.
I turned off my phone when plugging it in last night hoping to make this go away.
When I turned it back on this morning... still only 98%...

yes, mine started around a week ago (black 64GB) today as soon as i unplugged it dropped to 98% used it for a minute n it went to 95% sometimes the phone wont even charge to 100%
Very odd ever since the phone died since it was really cold out ( i left it in car for a few seconds and looked at my phone and it was dead ) its been shuting off or dieing around 10% left but drains normally. but can still turn it back on once its plugged into a wall charger. so im not sure on what to do cause i mean i only had it for a year now.
it happens with mine too, 2-3 weeks ago.
I had 40%+ and after few sec, was dead too.
I turn it on with 1% battery lol
was thinking of letting it die once then letting it cable charge not fast charge saw a video for an older phone to do that with some call code to reset the battery gauge

I have the same problem since a few weeks.
The percentage drops from 15% to zero.
Mine was a bit different, I was in 13% and then when I plugged in the cable to charge my phone, it showed I was actually in 6%. My friends, our phone is aging
Since it became cold outside I'm having the same problem
Yes
I had this problem with my Galaxy A5 2016 and now with my Galaxy S9...
Never go under 10% if you can't charge within 1 minute or better less. That's why I have a battery case.
So I think I fixed mine a video is for a note 4 ut I think it worked for mine also. Make sure your phone is almost dead and turn off fast charging then go to the phone dial up (built in app) and dial *#0228# and click the quick start (this will restart your battery gauge) let it die then charge to full might take longer but it's worth it.
