[Q] I need help finding some misplaced features - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

So...I get a call from someone I don't know, the number is there is my call log, I would like to save this number to a new or existing contact, and...WOW there is no way to do it! I highlight it like I used to, but the only option is to delete the call from the log. Not only can I not create a contact from the call log, but I cant copy it to paste later in the contacts area. I have also found out that I can't paste:confused into the dial pad anymore. This is a pain when I am online and copy a number I need to call. Now I have to use pen and paper to write the numbers down to accomplish both of these things.
The lack of the menu button is a bit of a sad thing too. I miss it over there to the left of the center button. Now I have no easy way to see what I can do within any given area.
I know these issues seem small, but I have had the phone for 3 days, and it's bugging me.

Just touch on the called number and the options to create or update are there. The menu button is now on the upper right and its called MORE.

Adding a Phone Number to an existing contact

Hi,
I f i have an existing contact , and i get a call from him but from a new phone number.
How can i add his new number from the phone list to the existing contact.
Ron
Hi Ron!
If you go into your Call History list and then find the number you want, with your stylus press and hold on the number, it will then give you a drop down menu. The top one Save to Contacts will get you to the contact to save it.
I hope this helps, StayLucky Jim
Jim,
i want to add it to existing contact ,
The only opsion that i get is to create a new contact with the phone number.
Ron
Yeah, it's a pain unless you buy one of the phone replacement softwares out there (like phoneplus) that let's you copy the number to the clipboard.
I just do create contact, then copy the number, delete the (almost) blank contact, open up the one I want and paste it in. It's sounds long winded but, in reality, only takes a few seconds. Still more than it should though!
I would recommend getting something like phoneplus if you use it as a phone quite a bit. As a dedicated phone, the XDA's are a bit weak (but, as I rarely use it as a phone, that's not something that bothers me).
Thank .I using the phonePlus,
I though there might be a better solution.
is it so difficult to build a small applicaion or registry entry etc to add a contact to an existing one???

Is it too easy to dial a contact???

Hi folks,
I have found it from time to time too easy to dial a contact resulting in an accidental dial to someone. This is usually due to the fact that I thought I was selecting a contact when tapping on it rather than immediately dialling the number. Perhaps I am too new to the TP2 and Windows Mobile phoning, but it seems to me that it would be useful to have a popup yes/no window to confirm that you want to dial out.
It is a bit like the delete in the email section which deletes without confirmation. I accidentally selected a few emails and then accidentally tapped delete and then saw half my email disappear.. No big deal. But no confirmation box or undo facility that I could see.
Perhaps there is a way of altering the behaviour for the above...???
Any thoughts appreciated....
Sam
Same here. On the missed calls screen I always tap a contact to go to their contact card, but instead I obviously call them immediately.
For me it is just the change from going from Symbian to WM...
I'll get used to it eventually
I think that an extra "Are you sure you wanted to do what you did?" screen would get REALLY irritating very quickly

True.
However the number of times I have accidental touched a contact name (even during call) does make you wonder...
I ended up installing Pocket Shield to prevent it and handle the much to sensitive power button.

So you have PocketShield really running correctly?
I tried, but it's a weird program - installation is correct, changing parameters etc. is no problem, but when it should cick in it gives me errors.
Hi,
The PocketShield Program is an interesting program and potentially solves issues that I have not come across yet probably cos I am new to WM6.1. However I can see the touch screen being a problem, so good find.
HOWEVER.... I do not think this solves my underlying question and that is that once you tap on the contact be it accidental or not it will dial and I think it would be good to have the option of having a "confirm" screen. This is also true with "delete" for the email inbox. I have yet again accidentally deleted an email and even could not get it out of the "Deleted" folder.

Same problem for me.
I found that the contact sorted top on TouchFlo favourites page would get dialled accidentally. I solved this by setting the default number for a contact to be a dummy invalid number. So now at least no call is made when the contact is dialled by accident. This approach may work elsewhere. Not ideal but...

[Q] How do i take down a number during a call?

Had this problem with my hero as well.
How do you take a number down if you are on a call?
ie if on a call asking for a number from the other person how do you write it down and use it for next call?
On nokias, the number you input stays after you hang up, so you can call, save etc.. But on Android, when you hang up the number you input disappears too!
AM i missing a way to do it (short of saving it to contacts (which i might not want to do), or dialling and hanging up)?
you can tap the number you enter which will dial the number you entered followed by immediately ending the call which will store it in your call history and return you to the original call all in about 2 secs. Not exactly elegant but works.
thats pretty much what i do, but its so silly to do it that way I thought ther MUST be a better way. I mean its not exactly a rare or unusual feature to need, is it? ;-)
I normally use a pen......Have done for a while now and it never fails
This applies to the stock dialer - don't know if it works like this on Sense.
Press Add Call, enter the digits. Now long-press the entered number. Select cut or copy. Then back button to cancel Add Call. After the call is over you can paste it back into the dialer the same way or into a contact.
Just tried, didnt work, no long press, any press just dials the number...
Now you've reminded me of another question:
The software usuuuaaaallly recognises number formats in emails or texts, and hyperlinks them to the dialer. HOWEVER Ive never been able to PASTE a number (copied from somehwere that the software didnt recognise as a number) into the sense dialer. Anyone can confirm this is not possible?
I'm unable to paste too on FroYo.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Ah, well it was worth a shot. I haven't spent more than a few minutes on a Sense phone so I'm not so well-acquainted with how the dialer works. I can confirm that the stock dialer of both Milestone's Eclair and N1's Froyo has an editable text field, in which one can long-press to get the "Edit Text" popup.
Can a Sense Android use an alternate dialer app?
there are thousands of notes apps thats what there for lol i think even htc has a notes widget for sence (i cant remember) neway yeah use your apps
There is an app which specifically does what you want. It's called Number Saver and it shows up in the notification bar whenever you make a call.
cool, will check it out!
Always weird that someone has to come up with an app for some function that should have been there to begin with, oh well!

Ec05 stupid question adding a contact. Gf having trouble

I'm not at the same place as the phone so bear with me. How do you add a contact in ec05. I could figure it out in seconds if i had the phone in my hand so i'm operating blind. The obvious of go to contact program them hit menu key then add contact, she says there's no option to add contact. She's used to di18 way of doing things. Did it change?

May have to re-sync her accounts. I saw someone else post that after the update they had to re-login to their Google account.
Already been done.
When you placing a call you can save it right before you hit call
also after call is ask do you want to add as contact
or go to call log press on that number dialed and at the bottom it ask "add to contact"
All she has to do is go to contacts, and next to the search there is a + button. Tell her to press this and that's how to add a contact.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yeah, she finally figured it out. Kinda wierd for it to not be like the old one of go to dialer and enter phone number. Right above that it says + add contact. I will have to look at it later but she said you can't bring up contacts program then menu key then add contact. That makes no logical sense to me.
The plus sign mentioned above is one way but also on mine with EC05 I pull up the dialer and enter a number and directly below the number just entered is a bar that says "add to contacts"

Erasing call history on phone dial pad to re-enable auto complete feature?

Hi All,
I am a big fan of the auto complete feature of the numerical pad on my M9.
For those that are not familiar with the feature you simply start pressing the key pad numbers that correspond with a contacts name.
Each character has letters associated with it, e.g.: 2 - ABC, 3 - DEF, etc; so if I want to call 'Adam' I start by typing 232...
The only pain point with this excellent feature is if I accidentally press on the CALL button, rather than the contact details then the literal number that I have typed will be called, i.e.: in the case of the 'Adam' example above the number 232 will be called.
This fact unto itself is not a game changer, however every time that I accidentally click on CALL, and a literal number is called it makes it harder to bring a contact up. So once again using the 'Adam' example; when I type 232 - instead of seeing contact details for Adam I instead see 232! The only way around this is to type the fourth character for the contact, e.g.: instead of 232 I now need to type 2326.
And of course if I accidentally click on CALL when 2326 is entered then it is even harder again to bring up my 'Adam' contact; I then have to start typing a surname as well as a given name!!!
This has made it impossible to use the handy feature on some of my contacts. I have tried deleting the cache for the 'Phone' app in the hope of clearing the call history / memory, but this didn't work.
Is there any way to completely erase the key pads history?
Any help would be fantastic.
Kind Regards,
Davo
There's a tab called "call history" in the dialer app (unless you disabled it). There you can tap onto the three dot menu and choose "delete call history". The phone lets you chose which entries you want to delete, then.
Flippy498,
Your a CHAMPION!! Thanks so much
Kind Regards,
Davo
