Hi all,
I'm trying to unlock my S3. I had it on 4.1.1 at some point in time, but since then upgraded it to 4.4.2.
Can I downgrade it to 4.1.1 and try the bootloader unlock code? If not, how does one go about generating an unlock code? Clearly websites (not officially supported by Samsung) are doing it, so there's obviously some way.
Here are the details from my settings:
Model Number: SGH-I747M
Android version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: **1747mvlufob1**
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-178458 [email protected] #1 Wed Feb 4 20:37:58 KST 2015
You cannot downgrade your bootloader. You must purchase a code to unlock the phone.

Hello XDA,
I have a 1 year old AT&T Captivate Glide (Unrooted):
Model Number: SGH-I927
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: I927UCLJ3
Kernel Version: 3.1.10-I927UCLJ3-CL970642 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Oct 11 14:00:57 KST 2012
Build Number: IMM76D
It would be very helpful if somebody told me the difference between Rooting and Unlocking the phone.
Can you please also tell me the most reliable way to root it and the most stable kernel and ROM out there for this phone?
Thanks in advance.

I hope you have found your answer by now with a search. If not...
UNLOCKING allows you to take a GSM (SIM card) phone to any carrier
ROOTING allows you SuperUser (full administrative) access to your devices Android OS
You'll find that this phone is rather easy to root, let me know if you still need some help.

Hi,
its been ages since ive been here, and boy has it changed!
I am currently looking for the stock firmware for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
Model: SM-T315
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband: T315XXUBNE5
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-2117999 [email protected] #1 Thu Jul 3 15:14:39 KST 2014
Build Number: KOT49H.T315XXUBNG2
This is a company device that someone has managed to remove the MDM from - but it hasnt totally removed, and the MDM is preventing a factory reset via fastboot or the normal UI, so i figure flashing the stock firmware via odin may fix the issue!
