So, I've got a Rogers LG G3 (d852) ... and I've bought a Qi case for it that says it's for the d850 (which the mid frame back has d850 written in various spots). The sticker's contact points line up, but when I put it on a Qi charging pad it doesn't work. Testing out the NFC and it doesn't work either.
Hopefully it's a bum case... But I also purchased a d850 back plate that has NFC and Qi receivers, so I'm hoping those will work.
Doing some research it says the d852 is PMA ... but if I replace the receiver on the back, should it not work with Qi?
Help? What are the differences between the d852 and the d850 (from what I can tell it was which bands the cell operated on and nothing about battery contact points etc...)

I don't think you can just change the charging coil to make Qi work on D852. It seems D852 is missing the Qi charging circuitry inside the phone. Your best bet is get an PMA charging sticker and put it in your back cover to enable PMA wireless charging like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-G3-PMA-W...923?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed9ec328b
I thought the 'receiver' that's the sticker on the case is the coil, and the leads in on the phone just provide the power.
The extra weird part is that the NFC doesn't work either.
I've ordered a Qi back plate to double check.

That is not true. The coil is just one part of the Qi charging system, it is not the receiver. There is a receiver IC in the phone that does two way communication with the Qi charger via the coil before any charging can happen. Think of the coil as a wifi antenna, and the receiver IC as the wifi card. Without the wifi card, it is pointless to put a wifi antenna there. Your wireless receiver IC is of PMA, and it does not work with a Qi coil.
Now it's funny because I went and called LG tech support yesterday (not saying they're the most savvy folks out there, but you never know).
According to them, the d850 and the d852 are exactly the same (some bands are different for carriers in the US), and even within the d850 line there's PMA or Qi charging backs but the internals are the same (or so they say).

Good morning.
Im interested in purchasing the LG G3, the version on my country is the D855.
I also want to buy a wireless charger, but does the D855 already have the wireless chip built in the back cover?
And does anyone know a good charger that isnt the official LG G3 wireless charger?
Thanks
No it doesn't, but you can buy the quick circle cover which replaces the back cover too, and that has wireless charging.
As for chargers, I can only give you links to what I've read about as I've never used any.
Anyway, here they are:

I own a D855 and a wireless charger. I do not use it currently, but I have checked and it works.
LG D855 does indeed have Qi wireless charging right out of the box. I currently use it with LG's Qi charger.
More details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771886
My D855 has wireless charging out of the box (with the standard backplate). I've used it with the LG charger and a Qumox wireless charger. They work generally about the same standard, but make sure you use a charger with a higher amperage such as the one that came with the G3 (1.8A or higher).
One trick I have found to make the G3 charge more reliably when using wireless charging is to have the phone unlocked when placing it on the charger and tapping the screen once it says "Wireless Charging" to stop the screen from timing out automatically. Then leave the phone for a couple of seconds then double tap the status bar to turn off the screen yourself. I find doing it this way avoids the infinite loop of beeps and notifications when done normally (which LG seriously needs to fix)
Hello,
I'm trying to set my g3 up with wireless charging (too many wires around my desk!) but im having problems.
I have the quick circle case, which I thought had wireless charging built in. I then bought the following product: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M9TBTDM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01 hoping they were compatible.
I am thinking either the quickcircle case is only compatible with the official lg wireless charger? I never actually use the quick circle case anyway, just tried it for testing purposes. Would something like this from ebay enable me to use my normal back cover, to work with the type of charger ive listed above? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QI-Wirele...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item2ed969a5c9
I have the F400L Korean model.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Adam
Have you got the snap-on or the replacement backcover variant of QuickCircle? If former, then you can't use it for Wireless charging IIRC, if the latter, check how many pins there are on the inside of the cover, if it has only 2 of them, then it has only NFC compatibility and no wireless charging available, if it has 4 of them, try to carefully align the device so the center of the device is aligned with the logo on your charger.

Hi, I have one that replaces the back cover, it has the 4 pins, I tried moving it over all parts of the charger, there were times when the phone would begin to charge, but this only lasted for a split second. But as I said above, im not keen on the quick circle case anyway, would much prefer to get it working with the regular back cover
will one of those stickers from ebay work to attach to my back cover? the listings suggest they dont work for my model; "QI Wireless Charging + NFC Antenna Sticker for LG G3 D855 VS985 D851 LS990"
Try swapping your USB cable and make sure your power supply is rated to put out at least 1.8 Amps.
Hey guys,
I just saw this thread on the LG G4 subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/lgg4/comments/38wo2v/atts_lg_g4_does_indeed_work_with_the_qi_version/
This guy confirms that Qi is indeed working on the AT&T G4, at least with the Quick Circle case. Has anyone else tried Qi on the AT&T variant yet?
Was wondering the same thing. Bump

Well that will be fantastic if it turns out to be true!!!
Great news! Can any others confirm?
would also like to know. My G4 should be arriving soon....
That would stand to reason, as the quick circle case is supposed to add wireless charging to the G4.
Yeah perhaps there's no hardware in the phone, it's all in the case and its pma or qi depending on the case you buy. Seems to me it's assumed that the at&t g4 can't use qi because the g3 couldn't, and they have a special pma quick circle case, but I can't find an official statement and the manual doesn't say anything about wireless charging either way.

I have the Sprint version of the LG G4 and the quick circle case. Yes Qi'charging is enabled and working great! 3rd party stickers should be on their way soon to enable the leather backs to do the same! So nice being able to drop and charge. Definitely the way to go!
I just ordered a cheap qi sticker and charging pad on eBay for my AT&T variant. I will post results after they come, which may take a bit, as it's a Chinese deal.
Well things didn't work out for me with my qi sticker, but I can at least verify qi works on the at&t version. Getting qi working wasn't a problem. Getting the sticker lined up enough my battery cover wouldn't buldge, that was the problem!

Qi works fine on AT&T LG G4
I have the AT&T LG G4 with the QuickCircle Qi Replacement Back Cover Case. I using a CHOE Stadium Qi Wireless Charger (3 coils) and it charges my phone perfectly. The back gets a little warm, but not hot so it doesn't hurt the battery. I'm considering going to the Tylt charger - it's just expensive. I really like the wireless charging, and the circle case is pretty cool. I like it much better than my wife's Note 4 smart window case.
Got the charger off Amazon and the case from Mobile Fun (in Britian)....

I have the AT&T LG G4 with the QuickCircle (Wireless Charging) and Ikea wireless charger and it is NOT working. I bought the quick circle case from AT&T B&M store.
On LG's website they list a Verizon compatible case (Qi) and an AT&T compatible case (PMA)
So maybe your case is Qi and mine is PMA? Maybe if I bought the Verizon variant I could get Qi to work? Sigh
It does work with the leather back... It more of a mission to find a qi charger that can penetrate the leather. I only found one that works consistently.

which was which charger?

I had to pull off the little speaker really easy quick google search after that I pulled of the top plastic cover exposing the coil I covered the top circuit board with some electro tape, works 10 out of 10 times. I could cut some plastic and make it look better but since I don't travel with it, not much to worry about.
If you have an ATT SIM card in your LG G4, then you need to have the H810 model (the model designed to work with ATT) to get full functionality for things like MMS.
BUT, unlike all other LG G4 models, the H810 will NOT work with a Qi wireless charger.
For details, I suggest the Android Central forum thread titled "AT&T Variant Wireless Charging - PMA Again or Qi?".
Is it still working for you?

Hey, cellgeek. Is your H810 with Qi Circle Case still able to charge wirelessly? Assuming you're up to date on firmware updates, I think AT&T may have found a way to disable Qi.
Thanks.

I have the lg g3 canadian rogers model. i have the qi sticker on the stock back cover and put it on the qi charging pad, nothing worked, i even tried moving the sticker around to make sure the pins are touching. then i bought the duracell powermat and the circle case hoping it would work, and still nothing when i put the phone on the qi pad or the powermat. does the rogers model not work with it?
Canadian variant is PI charging, I think it is a North American standard....Official Response from LG
Hi Albert. We have heard back from our LG business contact, and I apologize ahead of time as i don't think this is good news based on your purchase of a Qi case and charger. It appears that
the Canadian version of the G3 is based on the AT&T platform, which supports wireless charging using the PMA (Power Matters Alliance) standard for wireless charging. The confusion seems to stem from the fact that all other U.S. carriers of the product do use the Qi Wireless charging standard.
So the MTS G3 is wireless charging compatible, but you would need to purchase a PMA charger such as a Duracell Powermat, plus an LG PMA quick circle folio case. This case replaces the standard back cover, with a back cover that has the necessary contacts required for wireless charging. It also appears, based on feedback from our contact, that this accessory is not available from Canadian retailers, but can be sourced on-line. For example, below is a link to the accessory on AT&T’s website.
http://www.att.com/cases/powermat-w...rcle-folio-case-pma-lg-g3.html#sku=sku7280328
Albert, sorry for the delaying in clarifying this situation for you. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Anyone else having issues with wireless charging since the 13B update? I do not if it is just coincidence or not but both my wife's and my G4 refuse to charge through wireless. This problem seemed to begin after both phone's were updated to 13B. The light on the charging pads does not even come on. In the case of my G4, I have actually wiped the phone after the 13B update and still encounter the issue.
You should check to make sure it's not that the sticker on the back has stopped making contact with the wireless charging pads... All of mine have consistently stopped working after awhile because of that, however, if I take the sticker off and press it to the contacts physically it still works.
Although after fighting it for weeks I've given up on wireless charging for this phone.

Hardware issue is a possibility but, I have two LG G4's here that both stopped working at the same time. I experience the issue on multiple charging pads also. This was right after both phone were updated to 13b.
I'm on 13b and my wireless charging works as well as it ever did, which isn't spectacular. I'd say 1/10 times I wake up and its not charged. I even bought the official flip cover case with qi as I originally blamed my sticker back application skills.... but both work equally crappily....
Wireless charging on my 13B is rock solid. FWIW this is the wireless charger I use: http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Yoot...9605910&sr=8-3&keywords=lg+g4+yootech+charger
As long as I ensure that it is steady green on the charging light by properly aligning the phone to the pad, I have never had an issue with it not charging properly.
I am not sure why I am still having issues. I did a battery pull on both phone and they started charging. But now half the time neither phone charges or I will wake up with the phone only partially charged. I just find it really hard to believe that both phones are having issues with two different chargers at the same time and that it happened right after I updated to 13b.
This is the charger I am using: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JA7HNZO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

Thats what I figured, but had to ask. Have you tried charging it with the phone off? Could be the new software requires a greater amperage than before so charging with the phone on could cause issues. I know your charger comes with its own USB cable but what about the actual wall wort? Are you using the standard LG wort? Im just drawing at straws, but hopefully something gets your issue fixed. Other than that I guess at this point, since you already tried different chargers you could see if replacing the Qi sticker in the phone has any effect.

The LG G4 doesn't support wireless charging unless the NFC sticker on the back cover is changed out for one that is NFC/Qi charging capable. Look at the NFC sticker on the inside of the back cover. If it only has one section of the sticker with two metal pads, then it's only NFC capable. There should be two sections / arms with two metal pads on the sticker. one for NFC and the other for wireless charging. You can buy a new pad online for $10. My Verizon LG G4 didn't come with the wireless sticker , only the NFC one. See the picture for details of the NFC/Wireless charging sticker. :good:
