[Req] System Apps - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is recovering from a soft brick, and I need the system apps for it to work properly
Will anyone give me a download link for the 4.5.2 (maybe 4.5.3) system apps?
Thanks

you better go for the CM12 (Lollipop) instead of the amazon firmware... otherwise you will find on amazon website the updated version that you can download and flash it via fastboot/adb
Good luck

if you can send it to me to Canada by ground it would cost you only few bucks... then I will attempt to repair it for you, you have nothing to lose after all, myself I have fallen into a similar situation and I was able to revive it otherwise it will be just an expensive paperweight.

I may be able to, but there is a locked boot loader, it's rooted, and there is an xposed module (greenify) that is stopping it from booting up. (Oops)
Do you think you can fix that?

I cannot certify that I will be able to fix it, but all option are better than throwing it... so if you think you want us to give it a try or you want to get ride of it and move on, I will try to do something with it for the community instead, just send me a PM and I will send you my address.

Unlocked Bootloader for 10.3

Will there eventually be an app for unlocking the bootloader on the 10.3 firmware? I don't have the factory cable and it sounds like a lot of people have bricked their device doing the downgrade to 10.2.
I hope so. I am not gonna even try it... Lol instead rooted it and used Kindlefree app to install Nova and used titanium backup. So it's "like" Android but not quite lol....

It worked for me even with the 10.3.1 bootloader. It seems that the exploit is not closed yet.

I can confirm that the utilities still work fine with the latest version of the kindle software, so you shouldn't even need to downgrade.

But if I downgrade my bootloader I won't have to use the whole 2nd bootloader method and all that right? Won't I then just be able to use some utility to flash TWRP and then flash a ROM? This Kindle thing is probably a little more intimidating than anything else I've messed with. I have mine rooted and a bunch of other hacks but I want pure Android on. I don't want a brick though..

Ok so if I use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216285 to downgrade my current bootloader then use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106463 to flash the freedom boot img and TWRP then I can just flash a ROM like normal through TWRP. Right?

What about all that craziness I have been reading about locking up the bootloader due to the 10.3.1 bootloader? I can just forget about that and install that apk file and THEN I would be able to flash a ROM via TWRP? I thought that the thread said that this tool said it was for the old bootloader. This is great news! Can you confirm this? Are we on the same page?

So, it looks like I have screwed something up. This figures as my luck is terrible with this freegin Kindle. So I got TWRP recovery working fine. I DL Cyanogenmod 10.1 and Gapps accordingly. Went into TWRP of course made a backup, then went to flash. I wiped EVERYTHING and went to flash the ROM. I received the error <Could Not Open .zip> So now I have nothing on file except a bad .zip. I did re-download the ROM assuming it was bad and restored my TWRP backup. Now I am stuck in what appears to be a Kindle Bootloop. The Kindle Fire (Orange) logo comes up, a few seconds later it blinks back off again and recycles. Now what? I can't get the Kindle to boot so I can put the .zip back on the machine. I am STUCK. This sucks... :crying:

It's on the way lol. Ordered it today. What is terrible is I thought I was doing the right thing by doing a backup up TWRP. Just in case ya know? It *usually* works. Now I just need to know the next steps so I can get back where I need to be. Thought I was home free with TWRP.

I did the exact same thing when i got my kindle back in January. (Yeah, i had to order my cable right after that )
For some reason I've never been able to restore a stock TWRP backup on the kf2. It always borks the bootloader.
I know there is a special requirement that our bootloader uses a file called stack on the system partition- that's why you can't get into recovery now (when you wiped the system it wiped the stack file which let's us run the second bootloader.)
Anyway, Once you have the fastboot cable its really easy to get things going again. Pm me if you need a hand.. I've been through this myself a few times lol.
If you ever end up in the same situation again where you wiped the system and the zip is bad... Stay in twrp and use "adb sideload" to push a good zip from pc.

I actually tried the side load through TWRP. When I typed "adb devices" it showed my device in host mode and the file wouldn't transfer although TWRP was in adb sideload mode. But then I just thought "oh well guess I'll restore my backup" lol. Yeah that didn't work out..

**As a special note however DO NOT restore your factory backup if you have trouble. You will end up like me. Bootlooping with a fast boot cable in the mail.** if I could go back in time I would've downloaded the files via a hard line rather than slow wifi and maybe even double downloaded.. Oh well. This is a learning opportunity.

If you have a back up you can restore. If not;
find a stock ROM or any ROM of your choosing for your device;
download;
take external SD card out;
put in your computer;
move ROM on root of SD card;
make sure your tablets off;
put SD card back in tablet;
reboot recovery;
wipe again;
install your ROM;
start over fresh.
I'd help more, but own the 7, not 10. This will fix it without losing root

Then your only option is to Odin back to stock. Be sure to use the original firmware you had before you rooted.
Sometimes on my tab, I have to flash the ROM twice before it'll mount the system. You can try it, but still unsure of the 10's

[Q] Bootloop, no recovery...

I recently installed Cyanogenmod on my friends International (GT-19195) GS4 Mini. He said it was glitchy and ****, and he couldn't sign into his Google account. I then turned the phone off, went straight into recovery and installed a stock firmware. Being as dumb as I am, I didn't erase any data or anything whatsoever, I just installed the stock firmware. Now it hangs on the Samsung logo, and I can't get into recovery, pressing the buttons just doesn't work. I can however get into download mode. Help!

No dice. Rebooting to recovery even with that just leaves me staring at the boot image.
EDIT: I remember reading that those who took the KitKat OTA got a different boot image that makes going back to Jellybean difficult, if not impossible. Could that have anything to do with this?

Guys KEEP IN MIND:
These are not officials, these are fairly beta builds. You will get errors, I was hoping this would reach some crack-flashers.

How can we get onto official CM then?
I know it has something to do with the kernel. We can't downgrade the kernel to the one CM is using? Or we have to wait until CM move up to kernel 3.4?

The latest Nightly is from February, which is 4.4.2.
Honestly keep checking that website, and check XDA.
Since the bootloader has been unlocked there should be a lot of movement / action in the dev section.
I would honestly not flash anything older, I mean feel free to mess around w/ kernel that are newer than 4.4.2 on CM.
I can't promise anything if you're on stock. I hope that helped at least a bit.

Huawei Mate 2 boot looping/soft brick issue

Hello, I'm having some trouble with my Huawei Ascend Mate 2 for Consumer Cellular. I recently unlocked the boot loader and rooted my phone. Things seemed to be going fine but once I tried to change my system font in an app called BusyBox, my phones screen turn on then off a couple times and restarted. Since then, the phone will power on to the Consumer Cellular boot logo but shuts off shortly after. I didnt have any custom ROMs on it and I've tried doing a factory reset in the recovery menu by holding Vol Up+Power Button and it said it finished and I selected the option to reboot and the same issue occurs. It worries me because I am unable to get a new phone and I really need it to work as soon as possible but I'm not sure what to do at this point. I tried to find the UPDATE.APP file for my phone cause I read that I can put that file on my SD card and reboot and it'll reload the original OS but I cannot find it anywhere, even Huawei's site.
Trying to keep my cool about this but it's getting frustrating and I'm kinda lost.
I do have the Android SDK and ADB drivers on my computer but I'm not sure if that would help.
Any help would be much appreciated

How do I find out that information? Is it on the phone? I'm not very knowledgable about this stuff but I'm running Android 4.2.2 but in terms of the B929, I'm not sure. I've seen stuff like you mentioned but I'm unsure of what it is.
Sorry for the lack of info on my part, I tried looking for something relevant but cant find anything that fits that description.
Side note, I was able to get the recovery screen for TWRP but it looks for a zip to install but I dont have anything like that to boot it into.

At least from what I've gathered, I think thats the one for the original Mate phone.
So since I've tried to go into recovery, wiped everything on the phone and the data cache and it still doesn't go past the boot screen, is the fix probably putting the correct UPDATE.APP on my SD card, then trying to boot it from an external slot? (SD card)
I've tried multiple things but I think I used the UPDATE.APP from the original Mate.
Based on the things you asked for I browsed the web for possible firmwares and found an Ascend Mate 2 firmware but it's Kit Kat and from what I've read,. the MAte 2 is going from JB to Lollipop and skipping KK. IT's the only firmware I can find that relatively close to my phone. Should I attempt to try to boot with that firmware I found or would I absolutely need the exact firmware that the phone shipped with?
Sorry for the long mesage, just wanna make sure my facts are straight.
Definitely don't want to flash the wrong update.app
I've read that this is going to lollipop and skipping kitkat too. suspicious about that one you found.
I definitely wouldn't try it until you get advice from someone more familiar with the device.
