The Most Annoying Music Player Bug - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like many of you have probably experienced by now, there is a rather bizarre and annoying bug on 5.0.1. What's going on can be seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/strange-music-seek-bar-bug-t3053149 . The stock music player, as well as many others, likes to randomly screw up with the timing and give a ridiculous number, or at times give no times at all! I don't understand how something big big can simply be overseen. I'm still on 100% stock, wondering if there are any potential fixes for this. Has any one dived into this? Is it possible to install the KitKat stock music player to see if it has the same issues? Is it about time I ditched stock and jumped to the custom ROM's?

Nothing...? Anyone on custom Lollipop roms experiencing this?

I just posted a solution in the other thread. Flash the H/K - Boomsound switcher. It doesn't have the bug on H/K.

Another reason to finally S-Off. Thanks!

[Q] Audio downgrade with Froyo?

Got the OTA Froyo last night and I have noticed the audio quality on several different occasions is very poor. Specifically, when running a game with Gameboid or other emus, the sound is terrible.
The audio is also ridiculously distorted when streaming flash videos, like on Crunchyroll.
That being said, the built in internet explorer does not seem to have taken to the flash 10.1, when I try to run something with flash, it says I'm outdated and to upgrade, however, when I try to 'update' flash, it can not find the page in the market, nor can I search for it.
Dolphin will run flash 10.1 but there is still no market page for it.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems with flash it the audio? Or does anyone have a fix for this?
There's definitely a sound problem. There's a fix from Adrynalyne out there in the wild. I'd link it but I don't know where it is off the top of my head, but at least I am telling you it's out there, right!?!
Search for stagefright.

I'm not sure that Adrynalyne's fix will work in a non rooted phone.
I'm using Skyraider's 3.0 RC3 Sense...both Pandora and XM/Sirius is working fine.

I thought there was a fix on ROM Manager, can't remember the folder. I think the one with Skyraider
Search for stagefright 2 with Google. It's a patch.

[Q] viber and mobile voip problems

Hi guys,
I had issues with viber and mobile voip ( voip application ) on the original sense rom when i got the phone new last time. Because of that and the advantages of custom roms, i went to CM based roms. It was great. Thing is i missed the sense look and feel....Long story short, i now have Renovate Rom with the kernel supplied with it. I am facing the same problems again. People on the other end cant hear me, and call connection is poor. A friend of mine said its due to sense 4+. Please do help me solve this, as i love the sense, just that this is whats putting me off...Thanks guys.
Hi,
This is Viber's rep. I'm here to help.
It sounds like the typical Custom ROM issue - some custom ROMs alter the microphone definitions of your phone, causing Viber not to recognize the phone's microphone properly. That is the reason that Viber cannot transmit your sound to the other side. We discussed this issue in detail with our users in this thread on XDA Forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25865775#post25865775
Please note that in that thread, a workaround was suggested *by a user* that seemed to have solved the problem for Galaxy S+S2 users.
Let us know if the issue persists.
Thanks,
Viber

Hi, and thanks for the link...checked it out....well, i was having the same problem earlier with the original htc rom when i bought the phone...thats the reason i was soo eager to change to custom roms....Its working excellently on cm based roms, so is my mobile voip....My friend also said, he had issues with bad internet/wifi when he updated his old one x to sense 4+, and everything was fine on sense 4.0......The link u suggested says to change some stuff which it says for samsung galaxy.....It would be really great if you would be able to point me to the right direction on this, as i believe its not just because its a custom rom as i had the exact same issues with original HTC rom....Thank you very much...Hope to hear a solution from u soon...
Hi again,
I apologize for my late response.
Unfortunately there is not much we (Viber) can do to help, as official representatives
The fact that the problem was solved on CM, but is now present again on the new ROM you're using, suggests that it is indeed a problem with the ROM (and not Viber). We recommend that you contact people on that thread, or in other threads here on XDA, who might have had similar issues. At this stage we (Viber) will not be able to suggest a solution for this problem, caused by the Custom ROM

[Q] Bluetooth low energy device fix on CM Roms?

Has anyone found a fix for the bluetooth not finding low energy (BLE) devices on the CM roms? I have been searching for months but have found nothing. I have read that it was a stack issue so tried replacing some of the configuration of the stack.conf file with stock but did not help.. I don't like the stock rom very much but am forced to use it because of this bluetooth issue.
No one?
This looks like it will never happen, so I'm sticking with stock.

Yeah looks like it. Posted this in multiple threads and no responses.
Was hoping CM13 would work with BLE but it doesn't look promising. I obviously need to just get over my irrational dislike of the LG stock UX and learn to live with it. I think I might have to go with a different make of phone next time.
Beware stock 6.0 has the same issue.. Google's bug

[Q] What do people love about cyanogen mod?

This is my first phone with the capabilities to flash custom Roms and so far I've flashed most of the Roms available for the m9. I have my favorites.
But I've noticed that cyanogen mod has a huge following. What is it that makes this rom so famous? What are the pros and con's of the rom?
I saw that the beta version is out and would love to hear opinions on the rom to buy some time until a stable version is ready for me to test drive.
Thanks for your input

Cyanogen mod is among one of the oldest full-featured android ROMS available. It has survived for so long since it is highly customizable, fast, stable, and gets good battery life. I'd definitely give it a go if you are curious about it. If you don't like it you can always restore from a backup or flash another rom.
I think a major factor in choosing to use it is that it's completely "de-bloated". There is no OEM crap taking up space and wasting battery.
Sure, most of us disable those things or uninstall them with Ti Backup, but it's just so much cleaner never to have had them.
It's really quick, and since it's based on AOSP, a lot more Xposed modules and customizers wwork with it (Like GravityBox, for example).
You should definitely try it out if you're curious. You'll probably like it.
The only downside is that the nightly builds and betas can be slightly dodgy sometimes (though the beta that's out is pretty good, minus the camera) and that since it's closer to a Vanilla android feel than OEM skins, you usually lose some of the device's unique software functionality. (Sometimes these can be re-downloaded from the play store, other times they just won't work)
Make a nandroid (or whatever we call these now. TWRP Backup?) and give it a go!
Thanks. I found this earlier explaining a little. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Main_Page
I still appreciate your opinions and would love to hear more. If there is anything more to add. These guys explained it well.

If you have any questions or I can help with anything just let me know!
On HTC phone I don't use CM nor MIUI, the last time I did was on Nexus 1 years ago.
Though it should be good on samsung and LG + sense 7 port from xpirt
Thanks. @vivremetrique I recognize your name from the cm rom post. Are you one of the devs of the rom? I plan on flashing it soon. But I am going to wait for the camera to get fixed first. Also, will there be any sound mods like viper4android or just an amp?
I'm not sure if its the current rom I'm on or the firmware but it seems like my music isn't as loud as it was a few weeks ago.

No, I'm not one of the devs, just an "enthusiastic" tester and user
I'm really not sure about the sound mods, but I'd imagine that eventually v4a would work properly.
(If it doesn't already, this thread suggests that someone was able to get it working by changing SELinux mode to permissive, but it doesn't seem to have worked for everyone. You can always try it!)
I haven't updated my firmware recently so I'm not sure if an update may have affected sound volume (I'm not sure if you've updated your firmware either, but the CM Beta only works on 1.32.x so far anyway )

Thanks for the link. I didn't know that v4a was actually in the play store. I've only seen it in a custom rom. I actually have the selinux permission app already so definitely worth the try.
I'm on the new 2.8 developers edition firmware right now. But being as flashing firmware is so easy I can switch anytime. Am definitely going to follow the progress of cm and when it looks like most of the bugs are worked out I'll give it a try. Can't really run a beta on my phone because it is my daily driver.
You're welcome!
Keep in mind that you might need to be S-Off in order to tinker with firmware beyond updating it
(On some devices you need S-Off to downgrade or flash unsigned)
I am s-off thanks. Coming from my locked bootloader vzw s3 to this has been amazing. So I've unlocked everything to allow me full flexibility and freedom to customize as I see fit. I may never buy a carrier phone again.

Problem with micro with earphones connected on custom roms

Hello guys,
I'm experiencing a weird problem on custom roms (except for the oxygen based custom roms) when having a call while my earphones are plugged in.
Indeed, both mics, from the earphones and from the phone itself, are fonctionning. This is pretty annoying as usually my phone is in my pocket when making that kind of call so i hear the friction noise of the phone against my pocket.
Does anyone else experienced it or have a solution ?
Thanks in advance for helping me guys, have a nice day !

Yes I am facing the exact same issue on 8.1 liquid remix ROM
This issue arise when I flashed 5.1.1 firmware file to fix headphone sound issue while playing YouTube and other videos
Fix that issue correctly but now the other issue arise which you described above...
Still finding the solution
If you get 1 please share

I used to install liquid remix, franken-rom and many others but they all have that problem. The only custom roms that don't have it are theone5tos and Zoe rom which I'm currently running as they are based on oxygen os...
I guess we need for a fix to come out...
Anyway, thanks for your answer, at least I know I'm not the only one facing this problem

Acoording to a comment in AOSPExtended rom thread the headphone issue is fixed.
I haven't tried it yet, I'll try it tomorrow. And then give a feedback if it's really gone or not.
We'll see!

OK so I've just tested the rom I was talking about and sadly for me, the issue is still there...
But according to this post in the AOSPExtended thread , the issue is gone. So I guess it depends on phones...
Anyway I hope one day it will be good for everybody...
A quick read over this thread says one thing to me: Update your firmware to the latest 5.1.2.
Edit: Grammar is important.

Unfortunately each time I wrote those messages I was on the latest firmware available (5.1.1 when I started this thread and 5.1.2 now) so I guess this not the problem...
But still, thanks for according interest to my problem !
By the way I'm now on Treskmod rom wich is based on Omnirom and I don't encounter this problem ! If it can help other people with the same issue...
