Forum View - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Does anyone know how to change the view for the forums. When I go into a forum I see all the threads in a box above the current thread I'm reading, and I have to press next to see the next one instead of being able to see multiple threads in one page. This only happens on my PC using chrome running windows 7. On my note 2 if I go online everything looks right. I have searched the forums for a solution but I can't find one. Anyone else had this and found a way to change back to the old view???

This is what it looks like

I have been working on the issue myself and discovered it only is a problem if you use Fire Fox. If i fire up IE and search the site all is well. The issue could just be related to the horrible flash support through FF. If you need any help with more data just let me know i will take some screens so you can see what i mean.
any term will cause the issue and it is only related to the XDA search intergrated into the forum. Google is fine.

I use FF and never have an issue searching internal as long as stay past 3 letters since the search engine relies on 4+ & XDA Google search fine too.
Just tried every way to create a 404 error and not happening.
i have attached some screenshots. one is the first page results and you will see i typed in maxmanila so way over 3 but when i select page 2 its a no go and that is what the other screenshot is. i am finding that issues with several other machines running firefox.
It's a mystery. I just tried with Firefox 3.6 and had no problems with successive search pages. I wonder if it's something in your setup. Are all the computers you are using operating through the same router? Search results do go out of date and usually only work on the PC on which the search was done. I assume you are not using a proxy server?
Mike
yes and no. 1 tower goes through my router but i have tried with my EME(UMPC) and Laptop and both do the same. They will either use the same router or my phones internet or other internet locations. Each setup is diffent. only thing i can think of is that firebug or greasemonkey causing the issue but i have no scripts running when i come to this site. its a mystery to me.
i have no problems with firefox, chrome or ie or safari...

says i have a text message but i don't

im sure this has proably been asked before. but i have the HTC Tilt 2 from AT&T and says i have a new message when i dont. i have tried deleting all the messages in my sent, deleted, inbox, and drafts but touch flow still says there is one at the bottom. i also dont have a notice for one. how do i fix this?
I have a touch pro 2 and I have the same issue. I tried calling HTC and they said to shut the phone, have someone text me an amount of times equal to what the number of text messages it says I have is, then wait 5 minutes and turn the phone on. That didn't work. I need to get around to waiting on hold 15 minutes to ask them again. :/
ive had this issue before and there is a fix for it...
1) unzip the attached file to your storage card
2) run the exe file
3) restart your phone
let me know if you guys need more help, but that should do it. it always works for me.
Worked. Thanks. Now to figure out why Visual Voicemail isn't working and how to fix that 1 hour 2 minute thing on the clock.
This sms issue has been discussed in at least 50 different threads on here. There is no way you guys used the search feature to solve your issue. The last thing this forum needed was YET another thread about this
If you don't know how to use the search feature (which if you look at the top of nearly EVERY page here on XDA you'll see the "search box" so I really don't know how you couldn't) that's built into the forums, in google do something like search "sms count problem XDA" and I bet you'll come up with threads that have the fix in it...
common sense goes a long way.
Regardless... glad you found your solution
If you want to turn this thread into condescending posts, I can post screenshots of Firefox's history from the last 2 days using the search feature for a handful of other things. Convenience goes a long way. Searching isn't the most simple thing. Things have to be worded correctly, versions have to match.
thanks puff601 the programs worked like a charm. and Aaron yesterday before i made this thread i did use the search function and i got so many pages that it would take me hours to look through. i looked through the first ten and found nothing pertaining to my issue.

Not meaning to be condisending at all... the reality is like I said.. searching isn't hard, might take you a bit but compared to what? Making a post and then waiting for someone to search for you and post the fix that's been discussed a million times? How dare users on here call people out on that!!!!
If you do a search, even just in this sub forum you'll probably find 20 threads started by people who have less then 10 posts asking about the exact same thing... The other day I looked and at the top of the post's there were 2 threads about this... this one and another one right under it. Come on! Just for kicks I punched in what I recommened above by searching in google the "sms count problem XDA" and low and behold the third link down was a link to a touch pro 2 sms problem... the first link showed what you had to look for, the "fixunreadcount" program, as did the 3rd link. Now, am I claiming to be a genious because when I had this issue way way back I did just that and came up with the answer almost right away? No, but the fact is I looked and found it.. Luck? Maybe... but before I post anything I look and look... or if anything say I loaded on a custom rom and had the issue I would post in that thread asking if anyone had the same issue. I'm sure someone would ring in!
Google Result for sms count problem XDA
You're right.. searching isn't the most convenient thing... Especially when you don't know how to search properly I'm sure that can be a real pain in the butt.
Regardless you got your fix one way or another and that's all that matters as I'm sure it annoyed you beyond belief... maybe this post will stay at the top of the charts for a while so other people who have the issue can find it right away and not have to use the search feature...
better yet a mod should just start a new sticky thread with fixes and known issues with the phones..... Update it every few weeks and it would make the forum a lot cleaner place.

You just don't get it. There's a difference between human interaction and the strict wording requirements of the search function. You seem to be so dead set on proving why a certain method works so well that you fail to understand the human interaction aspect of a forum.

Can't post on a forum - help

Hi,
I'm hoping someone out there can help me with an issue I'm experiencing on another forum. Basically I can log on ok and browse all threads, but when I try to post a new thread or a reply, it won't let me. By that I mean I click the post reply button and get a window similar to this forum, but when I click in the text window it just goes completely green and doesn't bring up the keyboard.
I have tried using both the stock and swype keyboards and both the stock browser and dolphin with the same result.
It must therefore be this particular forum however I wondered if anyone else has experienced this and found a solution
this maybe nothing to do with your problem but some forums wont let you post until you have posted in specific areas like the "introductions" area etc. If its not this then maybe its a flash or java issue. Try posting from your PC, if you can then it must be flash or java or maybe even the browser you are using on the phone. Let us know any updates. All the best
James

Where's the thread that includes the popular apps?

So I was browsing the "Post your homescreen" thread and noticed that almost none of them wrote which widgets/apps they were using to get their screen the way they have it. I remember awhile back somebody had made a post featuring most of these apps in a single thread, for those of us in my situation who have seen the widgets/apps and wondered what they were called. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find it again. I tried doing a quick basic search and had no luck. Does anyone remember this thread? Does it still exist? Do you have a link? Thanks.

Searching xda

Hi
Now don't take this the wrong way, but... Searching your forums is a headache!
OK if I wanted to find out something generic as rooting an Android phone, before posting one should search to see if it has been already posted, not a problem. Using the Google custom search you get 2.6 million results in no particular order, the 1st ten can range from 3 years ago to yesterday (most results do not show date) (results give very little info) so it is a bit of a lottery finding a relevant thread.
Using "Search this Forum" is all very well and good, but for one thing. Searching for "rooting an Android phone" from what can see is, that it can be found in a least 4 separate Forums...
So what's all the gripe about? Well back in the days of 486's & P1's myself and 2 others designed and implemented a search engine for the Royal Navy's internal Forum. The Forum being as large as xda's if not larger, displayed results: Forum Name, Title of Thread, Date and 1st two lines of thread as your basic search with option of advanced criteria.
It was simple and idiot proof and can be found in use all over the internet.
So to cap it off, one search engine displaying results in date order for entire Forum. Simples...

To be honest next time add in your device name. This is due to rooting an Android device depends on the device. I use the FF search plug in and my always defaults to the newest post. But I do agree I thing the plugin should be updated

Is there any way to search for a phrase together? Like "tell if I am root". The search results are always for the individual words, not the whole phrase, however I've tried it (quotes single and double, +'s, ANDs). I've also often found that search engines (I don't use Google) give more relevant results, even though they're all on XDA-developers.

Not that I know of. The Firefox search plug in is limited but better then the built in search engine lol.
Is that a real question you have?
Thanks for confirming what I thought.

No, I was pretty sure I was right but wanted to check 100% before "helping" someone with that question.

Can do most of that, just change order to "last posting date". And pick your device obviously from the subforum list
As of today, there isn't even an option to search the forums at all...
