I have switched my m8 from sense to GPE 5.0.1 and am loving it so far.
But I have one gripe: battery. Battery life has been absolutely terrible compared to sense. I also miss the "power saver" and "extreme power saver" modes. Is there anything I can do (kernels? apps? xposed mods, what are you using?)
- There is a "battery saver" mode in lollipop, but there seems to be no way to integrate it into the quick toggles as I have been used to doing for years (coming from samsung s2 -> s3 -> htc sense m8).
- Battery saver is very limited in customization: What if I want power saver but don't want to disable background data?
- Also, the "disable battery saver when plugged in" is bull****. It takes five actions to turn it on again each time I plug in the phone
- Is there any equivalent to the "Extreeme power saver" mode? It used to drain my battery next to 0% at night.
- I am using amplify to find and kill wakelocks and greenify.
Also, any alternatives to the battery stats monitor in lollipop? I'm starting to miss sense just for the reasons above.. otherwise GravityBox does everything I need

5.1 has fixed a lot of my battery woes. Root it and use greenify to get way better standby time.

Today i've noticed that my Desire uses avfully alot of power in standby;
since it was dead in the morning (while at ~60% when i went to sleep)
the drain @ standby is around 300mA...
So i figured maybe some app is preventing cpu into going to standby, so i've flashed my 3 days old backup, which was working normally at the time (no power drain) but for some reason the power drain stays the same today when i've flashed it.
I've disabled wifi, bluetooth, even put phone to flight mode, but drain is still high, which makes no sense , since its an old backup which was working fine at the time.
Anyway i have AMOLED Desire with Leedroid 2.3d and countts latest kernel.
Its really wierd why this suddenly started to happen.I just hope it isnt something with the hardware....
I've just tried the latest Oxygen rom and its the same thing... high power drain... ;(;(;(
Its really wierd...different roms and the same issue...
Now i've flashed back a fresh leedroid 2.3d and still no luck.I loose almos 30% battery per hour while phone suppost to be in standby!!
I've tried setcpu profiles and set 128Mhz when screen off, but power drain stays the same.
Could it be somekind of hardware damage, becouse i've tried many different roms and still its the sam thing ?
According to some app that monitors whan is using cpu, it says that system_server occupies all the cpu.But i cant find much about this....
Anyway if someone has an idea, i kinda like more than a 3h battery life a bit cooler phone (its quite warm when in "standby")
I've had this issue as well with CMY build #23 but it seems fine in build #24. Also, how do you check you mA output or what ever?
I have checked this with Battery Monitor Widget while having it run off the battery.
Isnt leedroid based off HTC stock rom ?
You could try flashing another kernel but I'm not sure if that would make a difference since it was running fine several days earlier.
tried flashing bunch of different kernels, same thing.
ill try another radio if it helps
If you open spare parts you can see if your phone enters standby and if its not you can see what app is stopping it.
HTC DESIRE CDMA Cyanogen 7
tried older radio... still power usage doesnt drop below 300 mA.
i really suspect that something is wrong with hardware...
only thing left is to unroot device and install stock rom.
will check...
where in spare parts should i check this ?
cant find anything related to standby...
although it seems that "android system"
is eating most of the processor.

Get Spare Parts > Battery History
Partial Wake usage - You need to check this from spare parts( more info on Partial Wake usage)
If it says "Android System" / Try it with the following changes
* Settings > Date & Time ( uncheck automatic)
* Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks ( uncheck - "Enable Always on mobile")
* As usual disable wifi/bluetooth etc., etc.,
If you use notification bar power control or Battery mod , it also consumes extra cpu usage
one more thing, get Watch Dog Lite from android to check if any app misbehave( consume more cpu)
You who have poor battery should test MIUI 1.1.28 really good battery life!!!!
Highly recommended! Lovely ROM also!
Went from one day to three days of battery life

Ill give miui a spin, but its not my battery's fauls since its fine, its the power drain thats the issue.
I've also noticed while putting phone to airplane mode, that in this case "Phone Idle"
uses the most battery. But battery drain is still 300+mA.Which is wierd since this suppost to use least power.
Have you tried deleting battery stats? I was getting abnormally high stand-by battery use after flashing to a different ROM from stock; after charging to 100% and deleting battery stats in recovery it really changed.
Then again this can apparently backfire and make the situation worse according to some :/
Ill try this...maybe it helps ...
I've reseted battery stats and flashed a fresh stock froyo (with htc utillity so im rootless now ) and hell power drain is the same !!!!
Guess it must be something with hardware or something...
i;m on cm 10.1 M3 and my battery running out very fast. On data connection something about 30% in 1h. And its charging very fast full battery in 1h. Can someone help me?

Dirty Flash?
Low signal area?
From what I know 4.22 has about 1 hour less screen on time than 4.12. Then again, I think we all here can drain about 30% battery in a hour, if we wanted to. What exactly are you doing in that 1 hours time.
battery isn't what it used to be.
4.1.2 was much better battery wise
Some solutions
you can try apps like:
greenify which hibernates background apps and some other apps which are hibernated as your phone goes in standby. (Root)
Ds battery saver which will turn off wifi when the phone is on standby.
Cpu sleeper which turns off one core when phone is on standby (Root)
Battery Calibration (Root)
Lux auto brightness which adjust the brightness and is battery efficient
You can under clock or under volt or even change your screens colour settings. (Root)
Hope these apps and tips help
While i acknowledge that most of battery life is determined by the actions of the user and what apps they use, some ROM/Kernel combos just have notoriously crap battery life regardless of how you cut it. I have found that 10.1 and its stock kernel are one of those instances. Hell, even while using a different kernel and great settings i still have been unable to get the same kind of battery as i can with other combos. Personally, EOS is the complete package of customizability and battery life out of the box for me. Perhaps you should give it a shot. CyanogenMod is just far too dirty.

All good except for Battery Calibration. That app, and others that operate on the same premise are 100% snake oil. And end user can do the exact same thing that the app does simply by unplugging their phone from the charger after a full or near-full charge. It in no way, shape, or form touches anything related to battery life or battery charge indication.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I hate this feature, my tablet is basically useless when battery drops below 5% especially outside/during the day. Further more my battery stays at 1% a lot longer than it shoud, so it feels like it's dimmed roughly at 10%. There is an app adjbrightness that can do this on rooted galaxy s4, but won't work on my n5120 rooted stock 4.2.2. (All battery saving features are turned off, and brightness slider in notification disappears when battery below 5%)
Any way to disable this irritating feature?
Don't know if it's possible, but I'd love to see a fix too.
The only thing I know is dump the stock rom, and switch to AOSP.
You can disable DVSM with Xposed framework and Wanam Xposed. That will correct the odd nature of your battery being slow at updating percentage.
I normally do not operate the Note 8.0 below 10% so I never see that.
Also I came across an xposed setting to set the minimum battery level and another to disable low battery alerts... maybe the screen saver mechanism is part of the alert process. Donno.
As above, in recent days, for no apparent reason I am getting a bad battery drain. After using GSam battery monitor & the in built battery stats, Android System is responsible for 33% battery drain!!!
Any fix or solution? I am rooted with recovery on 8.8.30 MIUI 10.
I do not wish to wipe or flash as my device is perfect in every way, only a battery drain from Android System.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Me too, always awake it never goes into deep sleep
The same thing happened to me and with the Gsam Battery I verified that I had in a short time thousands of calls to the LocationManagerService. After trying and testing I think that the time widgets that I installed (HD Widgets, Xperia Clock, ..) are due. I have taken them out and now my battery consumption is normal. Anyway, this must be a Miui bug. I spent as much with xiaomi.eu as with Revolution OS.
^ Thank you so much guys for the response, but this is so strange because it only started to happen many weeks after using the rom. It was fine as normal then suddenly this battery drain issue started.
Even tried battery hibernation apps/greenify, now difference.
Previously, I used to get 11-12 hours SOT, now only 7 max. Really disappointed...
After prolonged trial and error plus googling. I managed to finally fix my MIUI10 battery drain.
1. Under Settings>Battery & Performance, disable ALL smart scenes.
REASON: smart scene detection causes wakelocks. A MIUI10 bug.
2. Under Settings>My Device>All Specs, click Total Storage 5-6 times to get into Phone Info Testing menu. For both Phone Information1 and 2, set to your local band. Xiaomi.eu uses LTE/UMTS auto (PRL), while some users recommend LTE/WCDMA. [This setting persists until next reboot/airplane mode/network change, then you'll have to set it again. Leave default setting when roaming]
REASON: Default setting enables TD-SCDMA band scanning, which is only used exclusively in China. When disabled, will save some juice as network signal strength fluctuates.
3. Of course check Battery Use of your apps to make sure no rouge apps are keeping your phone awake in the background. Consider adjusting (a) Start in Background Permission, (b) Autostart Permission, (c) locked apps, (d) app battery saver status, and (e) toggle Developer Options>Inactive Apps

I wasn't able to find any setting called Scenes or Scenarios (saw that name used in another thread) on MIUI 10.3.2.0 global stable. When I open the Battery & Performance menu all I get is Battery Optimization, Power Usage, User Adaptive Battery, Choose Apps (for app battery saver), and Extreme Battery Saver. I also searched for them using the search function. Is this available on all MIUI versions?

In Battery & Performance, click the Settings cog icon on the top right. You would see Scenarios (new name) at the bottom of the next screen. I'm on MIUI 11.0.2 now, and its there.

There is no Settings cog in Battery & Performance. If I go further into Battery Optimization there is one but it also doesn't have a Scenarios option
I recently bought this phone, I updated everything system, apps......the camera keeps running the background, even when I have closed the app.....
Problems does go away if I clear data of camera app...but I don't want to do this everytime.......I bought the same phone for my mum, and same thing is happening there too, on top of that in her phone chrome is consuming a lot of battery even when the phone is idle...... please help me out
Also I did try that restrict background activity but that option did nothing and the time on "while in background" kept on increasing
P.S location was off.
Never happened this problem to my European LG G7 Thinq (LMG710EM).
Anyway you have to turn off "background activity flag" to stop background activities of any app (do it for each app).
But consider also that the 7% of battery may be consumed just in that 11 minutes.
Shooting photo consumes a lot of battery...
After a week I have figured that you need to compromise on 2 features to get a good battery life ......1st obvious one was always on display, after disabling that, battery life increased a lot, but my idle battery drain was still 1-2 % per hour with wifi turned off.......2nd I disabled the double tap to wake (knock on) and hallelujah! Now on idle it barely drains 1-2% overnight.....
This is a great phone but lacks in the battery department...I mean, I don't mind disabling aod but double tap to wake is a great feature to have...too bad it drains the battery like hell
