T-Mo Note 3 Stock Firmware Issue - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I decided to un-root and push the Lollipop update today, but it took all day thanks to alot of issues. I figured I would start this thread to help others along with upgrading from KitKat.
So alot of the tutorials you will come across for un-rooting and flashing back to stock using ODIN, so your phone will update, then rooting Lollipop so you can push custom ROMS are INCORRECT. After updating to Lollipop, alot of tutorials said to re-flash the stock Lollipop firmware, then immediately flash CF-Auto-Root and then TWRP Recovery. This is WRONG, for two reasons. Firstly, the .tar file used for flashing Lollipop STOCK is the INCORRECT file. I visited FIVE tutorials and every time I would get Force Closes or get stuck in bootloop, this is because if you watch carefully your phone will name itself NOTE 4 instead of 3 by default after flashing firmware from the links. I didnt catch on to what was going on for over 5 hours as I tried again and again with different methods and then following instructions Step-by-Step all unsuccessfully until it hit me. ALL OF THE LINKS ARE POINTING TO THE WRONG FIRMWARE, instead of flashing Note 3 Firmware, you flash Note 4 Stock Lollipop Firmware, which as you can imagine, causes SERIOUS issues with your phones system.
To fix this problem, find the KitKat NF9 4.4.2 Firmware and flash that, then allow your device to update ITSELF to Lollipop VIA official T-Mobile OTA. This is what worked for me. After updating, then I simply use CF-Auto-Root and then TWRP flashes in NORMAL FASHION, allowing restarts IN BETWEEN FLASHES, clearing cache/dalvik after each install, and allowing 10 mins of settle time after every boot. Then I installed a Custom ROM and Mods, and now it all works perfectly.
Let me know if this helps or if you have experienced similar issues.

What are the links to all these incorrect firmwares?
Posting the links would be more informative than suspicions.

Sure thing guys, A good example would be this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393
Really great guide, makes everything nice and easy, until you get past flashing the Lollipop Stock firmware VIA THIS LINK: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900T/ in one of the very first seps.
If you download the N900TUVUFOB6 (Lollipop) Firmware and flash it, you will get alot of random force closes once the ROM boots and settles. If you pay attention after flashing, you will note the device name defaults to Note 4, and there's your clue.
I still cant believe Ive been working on this phone for the past 13 hours trying to get everything working properly. Happily I have found a ROM I like that is INSANELY FAST AND STABLE and I've installed all the Mods that I want. All I need to do at this point is re-download all my apps and set all the settings.

Can i ever unbrick my note 3
Frustrated at the moment. I've been trying to unbrick my note 3 for 2 days without any luck. I switched it off after after a week of rooting it and bang it wouldn't go past the samsung logo, it restarts itself automatically without going past the samsung logo. I've downloaded countless version of kitkat stock firmware from different sources for my sm-N900T, flashed with odin more than 10 times, followed every instruction about unbricking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have stock recovery installed and can you get to it? You might want to try wiping cache and doing a factory reset. If that doesn't fix it then maybe try downloading a stock firmware from Sammobile and flashing it with Odin. You might have have an incompatible app that was installed with a previous rom and a wipe of the Data partition might be needed. You will lose all of your data and apps though.
Next step I'd do if none of that worked would be flashing twrp and wiping data, cache and dalvik and hope...
Good luck.

Thank you for your time. I flashed it with a new stock from sammobile but it's still in a boot loop state even though odin always show pass. And when I flashed it with twrp my note 3 was unable to enter recovery mode.

[Q] Ll3 update fails no matter what

I have been trying to get my S3 to take the update from LG8 to Ll3, and it fails no matter what I try. I am running totally stock LG8 that I rooted using the toolkit posted in the development section. I don't have any APKs that I altered, but every time I try to flash the update, I get a "status 7" error. I tried it on both internal and external SD using CWM recovery. I tried flashing stock recovery via Odin and then let the phone download it over the air and attempt to install itself, and I even tried running the update in TWRP. Every time I get the same status 7 error.
I am coming from HTC phones and have never had these kinds of issues, so I'm pulling out my hair. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I know it must be something stupid I'm overlooking, but I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find the answer.
Sounds like a bad DL. Just grab it from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743923
Or here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
Or odin flash LI3- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919919
A lot less stressful
The procedure that myn posted over here is pretty staight forward and foolproof too.
Have you solved your issue yet?
I am getting the status 7 error as well even with Myn's procedure. Others are having the problem. Only thing I can think of is the current image file has changed enough to not allow the update to go through. However, I have not removed or modified any stock apks and backed my whole system up with TB right after rooting so no reason for mine to not work. Binary file should be good since it is working for other S3 users.
It's not a bad download. I have tried downloading it multiple times from several sources, and I get the same status 7 failure every time. It even fails when the phone itself downloads the update and it tries to install with the stock recovery.

I was able to get mine to work using Myn's method. Seems flashing newest CWM recovery did the trick. Was trying to flash via TWRP and didn't think it would matter but apparently it does. Just followed his post and all upgraded without issue.
Back to your issue.....what state is your phone at currently? What recovery is installed and what version are you running? Surely we can get this resolved for you.
what does the log say when it fails? I mean in addition to status 7. If you don't see anything go under advance>show log. it's probably a failure in the checks it does before the flash. Have u modified your build.prop? is your baseband and build both lg8? That log will tell you what's wrong.or as I mentioned above you could follow 1 of my links and avoid tha headache

The information provided by you is not sufficient. There are some points i would like to know about.
Have u rooted your device?
Are you flashing through ODIN?
ROM version?
Did you make data wipe/ cache wipe before flashing over a previous firmware?
There are many threads associated with this.So please take a look over that.If you don't find answer then we are here to help you

Thanks for Calling me "Sir". But seriously no need to say it. Say it to real developers.
Now coming to the topic,
For your information, keep in mind that when u flash the Official firmware through ODIN, You loose the root access.
Don't restore any backup. Just flash through ODIN. After flashing Wipe Cache and Data wipe is recommended too.
To gain the root access again you need to flash recovery from ODIN.
Other members looking at this this thread please correct me if i am wrong .I still not getting which backup the guy is talking about.

OK. Then it may be the problem with your GENNXT ROM cause the problem occured after restoring Backup.Try the fresh install of latest build of GENNXT rom.

i already tried it sir but it didnt solve the problem, it passes the setup but after a few minutes the phone reboots.
You might want to try one of the AOSP-based ROMs (CM11/Slimkat/Carbon/Omni/ProBAM) and see if it fixes the issue. If it still reboots even after installing one of those ROMs, then you probably has a faulty hardware. If it stops rebooting, then you probably has a corrupted installation of stock firmware...
Faulty hardware = get it to a service center, but be prepared to pay some bucks because you have already lost your warranty...
Corrupted stock firmware = try to flash the firmware again via Odin but DON'T RESTORE ANY BACKUP. If it still reboots, redownload the firmware package and reflash.
I'm not an expert, but I figured that your phone is already unusable by constant rebooting... let's just solve it by trial and error.

This is probably the best explained and most direct definition of what to do and what may be happening with our ever-rebooting Grands.... Thank you!!!
Had to create an account to thanks naufalhadyan
I was running on LineAgeOS 13.0 for a while until yesterday, when I went to install some random play store app and it crashed then went on a infinite rollercoaster with absolutely no fun making loops every time it got of the boot animation, did a factory reset, on the 2nd or 3rd app it crashed and looped, flashed another .zip with the rom, same, installed an RRemix on the same version (I like the 6) and when installing another random playstore it crashed the same way, now i'm on a AOSP 6.0 flashed from the recovery and so far i've been downloading the entire play store (just for kicks) and its smooth.
I don't use come to this troubleshooting section but on the last 24 hours there were some major bugs regarding endless loops, maybe a play store update came bugging our grand duos'? Is that even possible?

Even iam facing the same issue
phone reboots automatically and doesnt even start... infinite bootloop. Was working fine and suddenly this issue came up from nowhere(past 2 weeks) ..
Iam using Resurrection rom 5.7.4 (Marshmallow)
Damn I was on AICP 11, when this exact strange bootloop problem occurred for no rhyme and reason. I know the hardware is fine, the issue arises from installing apps from playstore, the moment it goes beyond a certain app limit in the device, it will start endless bootloop, I am sure this is Google's doing. Anyways this is not a hardware issue and I know more people will be coming here looking for answer to this issue. I have tried both the opengapps and deltagapps, same behaved this way, it never happened before and lately google have introduced one other app which is google's android instant app that will sit in your device, even though you need it not not. very well google for using our precious internal data to around 500Mb to 1Gb.
formating data partition solves this issue, temporarily but you lose your apps and data.
I had successfully avoided this issue when I stopped installing more apps on my device, It took me 2 tries and I found a perfect balance of 4-5 apps, it came crashing again when I tried installing the 7th app.
I don't know if other ROMs will be able to handle this bug, but I know it's time for me to look for another ROM, I was happy with AICP 11, for more than a year. Sad.
Reading about this issue, I came to know this is prevalent on all CM marshmallow based ROMs. So, going to flash Nougat or kitkat or the stock ROM should probably fix this.
Try a new battery.

Can't install any ROM's. Stuck on Samsung Galaxy Note II Screen

Hey all,
I have read all over the place on how to get this working but I honestly get more confused the more I read. I wanted to switch to another OS since my phone was starting to become bogged down (too many pictures, videos, old files, etc etc etc; My phone is my work tool since I'm a field sales engineer)
So I went ahead and rooted it with ODIN 3 v1.85 and I317-UCUBMK6.tar.md5. I also installed TWRP although I have no clue which version it is. I suppose it's the latest one. My bootloader is LJ2.
I always do the full swipe and a NANDROID back up. However, when I flash a custom ROM, I always end up stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen. It won't go.
I have tried to install the following ROM's:
DN3 - Always says "Failed" when I try to flash, even when following instructions of reboot recovery and flash again.
JEDI X 20 - Go through the entire aroma installer - it installs - asks for reboot - when rebooting, stuck as Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen
and it pretty much happens with all of them. I have decided to back to stock (because I was a retard and accidentally deleted my NANDROID backup) and now I find my WIFI is broken.
I pretty sure this has all been discussed in various threads but I rather bring it all into one so that all that are having the same issue as me (I read a lot of people complaining about this issue with very scattered replies) can have a single thread that addresses how to fix this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

[Q] I have a sem-complicated soft bricking problem

So I wanted to root this tablet, and I used a video online to help me do so.
I installed the USB drivers, got Odin 3, and loaded in CF_AutoRoot_Port_T700_BeansTown106.tar
It rooted my tablet and I was pretty happy about that. I then had update supersu, by getting the SU binaries.
So I came to this site and downloaded the recommended Supersu, and flashed it. It fixed that.
Well, then I wanted to get a custom ROM, so I flashed the Cyanogenmod 12, along with the component with it.
I found I didn't like it compared to my 5.0.2 Lolipop, and so I tried finding the stock ROM.
The gator download site everyone was showing refused to let me download anything, and just about all the ROMS seemed like they were from countries other than the U.S.
I searched for awhile, found nothing, then found a ROM called the Ironman Lolipop ROM, it was close enough to stock, so I flashed it.
Suddenly everything was normal, but then supersu needed binaries again, and after I flashed it again, it just stopped asking if it should grant permission, making the root useless.
Frustrated, I looked online again for ROMS, found a Canada one, decided to download, it would take two hours.
Well I'm not from Canada so I doubted it would work, and didn't want to wait two hours.
I decided to Flash back the Cyanogen.
Well unfortunately I went in and found out that I had deleted it earlier, whoops. And so my data wipe brought me back to Ironman ROM.
So, thinking that flashing to Iron Man screwed up my root I tried to re-root with Odin, the same way as the first.
It then had trouble booting, and when it did, it hung at the Samsung logo.
Now I've been stuck on this logo for about an hour, I can't turn it off. I'm assuming the only way to is to wait for it to run out of power.
I have been using TWRP this whole time.
I twice have backed up, and wiped data.
When I hit restore I saw no backups though, I'm not sure if they were for the ROM?
I don't know, I only have a year of experience.
Edit: I have an 8.1" T700 from Amazon.

Hi! To force reboot while in a soft brick, press and hold power+home button+ both volume buttons all at the same time.
Then when the screen goes black, quickly press the odin\download mode button combo or recovery comba if you wish.
Luckily, I have mirrored the latest firmware for the T700 to a faster hosting site. This is an UK firmware and is the latest one. It should flash fine as I have flashed different firmwares from different countries many times.
Download Firmware (fast download): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347761130
Now, ironrom has problems with root sometimes. When I make roms I don't preroot them as they cause problems of binaries if you preroot them. Anyway feel free to flash the firmware with odin or load an custom ROM to your sd card and flash it.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for getting me out of the brick and back to stock.
However going into Supersu it says.
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root- consult the relevant forums for your device!"
My question is, can I properly re-root it the way I had been?
I'm assuming if it soft bricks again I can just reinstall a stock ROM again.
Also all these ROMS and backups take up a lot of space, how would I go about deleting those when I'm done?

In my files app, look for an folder called TWRP. Your backups are in there. To root simply install twrp and follow the twrp method to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59638836
You can delete your backups from within twrp. Just select restore, then the backup, then delete.

Note 4 Help!

Like many other sprint users, I experienced serious problems with 5.1.1. This resulted in battery pulls and even a downloading boot. I starting looking into a fix. After flashing about every ROM for sprint N910P on this website, I either result in bootloop or the same problems persist. The problems are as follows:
-Can't boot, so I have to wait ~5 minutes to try again
-Boots straight to downloading, mmc read fail
-Boots fine
-Crashes to black screen around 80-90% battery (back to problem 1)
I cannot figure how to use odin anymore because it fails on nearly every rom I attempt. My reactivation lock is OFF.
I'll try to provide as much detail as I can, but I'm at my wits end with this phone.
Thanks!
If you can Odin OK1 stock tar, there is another root alternative: root stock with Chainfire Auto Root. CFAR has been updated for Android 5.1.1 Note 4

Custom ROMs will take longer than 5 minutes to boot initially after flash. TWRP has been known to fail to flash or not properly flash after trying repeatedly to flash wrong tar with Odin or flash with reactivation locked. Which, if any, apply to you? I hope it's not hardware failure...

Chainfire was going to be my next option. I think the first time I attempted using chainfire through odin, it ended in a bootloop. I haven't tried the update version though. I'll give that a shot.
Is there any way to fix this problem with TWRP (delete it and reflash)?
I'm starting to think its a hardware failure, which would suck because knox is tripped and warranty expired a few days ago anyway I believe.
I downloaded the updated CFAR last night to verify it was updated. It's bundled with Odin 3.10.6 Use the defaults with that for stock OK1 tar.
You should know that CFAR is primarily for rooted stock.
If you want a custom ROM, you may have to use Philz CWM touch recovery for Note 4. TWRP just gets inoperative for some time for some users when tars fail in repeated attempts. Philz' seems to flash where TWRP doesn't if that's the case.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is most likely a hardware problem. I've had two Note 4's do exactly this. Flashed the stock rom on both with Odin, problems still persisted. It would just get random restarts and sometimes boot into "panic mode", whatever that is. The quality control on these phones is terrible. I baby them and never rooted any of them, yet two of them messed up like that, and all 3 of course have GPS issues. If it worked like it's supposed to it would be amazing, my friend has had one since my first Note with 0 issues, super jealous.
I hope its ok for me to post this here i couldnt find any threads on this issue and i didnt want to make new one just for this one problem so i figure i post it here since the post doesnt really point out to nothing specific and its on note 4 thread so i know ill get faster response than if i posted it in help thread ,but if i'm in wrong please feel free to delete this post at once . With that out of the way heres my issue and i hope theres an easy fix for it i was on latest pl1 build of 6.0.1 stock rooted i got tired of playing pokemon so i decided i want my themed look back so i restored my backup of 5.1.1 cog5 build ,everything works fine but my wifi ,its grayed out and when i try to turn it on it stays in "turning on " possition but it never does come on it eventualy goes back to " to see the list of networks turn on the wifi" .Now my question is is there any way to fix this wifi without flashing srock 5.1.1 i know there used to be fix for it back when i was on note 3 but this was yeaaaaars ago and i dont have that file any more thanks a million.

To fix the WiFi and camera focus, get the bootloader for OG5 from OP in this thread and flash it in Odin.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=66352412
The ones labeled firmware are bootloaders. You don't have to flash the whole OG5 stock tar but you still could. Just make sure the flash restores that bootloader and you should be set.
Likewise, you could still restore a MM backup and restore its bootloader.
I think you should backup your keepsakes in internal memory and wipe internal memory before restoring a backup that crosses Android versions. With backups on extSdCard, you could wipe everything but that but I'd think you could factory reset, wipe internal memory plus the Android folder on extSdCard and have a good transition with the bootloader flash. Otherwise, a factory reset would be the minimum step but may leave some residual information you may not need cluttering your memory along with what you want to keep. Seems I recall some having issues coming back to lollipop from MM without wiping internal memory?
Just curious, do you recall what you wiped going back to lollipop?

Gotcha. Just an old question in the back of my mind from early days of MM. I researched the TWRP thread, the developers recommended a factory reset.
If you've ever noticed internal memory available seemingly smaller than usual, it could be the extraneous folders.
Thanks.
