Just want to share some stuff i've learnt.
If you have had to use the LG's default Factory reset function (the one where you press and hold VOL DOWN+POWER), please take note of the following.
LG's Factory reset sequence will also erase and format the internal storage as well. (So please back up your internal storage if possible)
And once the internal storage is erased and formatted, the new folders that it creates for the android system, will have a wrong date timestamp attached to it (1970) (you can check it using file manager). Please note that TWRP and CWM will fail to read your internal storage contents due to this timestamping. Solution is to manually erase the contents of internal storage again, and restart the phone, and let the ROM recreate those folders.
Also, if you do not correct this internal storage problem, your ROM will behave weirdly. for me I could not change the lockscreen wallapaer, and one of my xposed modules refused to work, until i erased the internal storage and started over.
Hi,
I have this problem:
I did all the wipe from recovery modified (system, data, cache and data internal storage) and then I restored my Nandroid backup Lollipop.
The problem is that the NAV BAR and notification not appear bar and system UI crashes...
So I installed an update to CM 12 and rebooted without wiping any cache(s) etc. The phone was stuck in the CM boot animation loop for hours - this has happened before and I was able to rectify the problem with the below process - so I decided to boot into CWM recovery and clear Dalvik cache and perform a cache partition wipe. Before, this has sorted the initial problem but this time I was again stuck at the CM boot animation after rebooting.
I booted into recovery again and tried to access my interal storage to locate a CM zip but couldn't access the partition. I kept getting an "E: Can't mount SD card" error when I tried anything that involved accessing the internal SD card/
I rebooted and entered recovery again and decided to perform a "wipe data/factory reset" after deciding that I wanted to go back to stock Android. However, the internal storage wouldn't format because it wasn't mountable.
Now when i reboot I'm stuck on the white HTC screen with "this build is for development purposes only..." at the bottom - I can't even get into fastboot!
I really want to restore and flash stock Android. How can I format the internal SD card and flash stock ROM?
Need help after "encryption unsuccessful" trying to encrypt the internal memory.
Hi experts,
yesterday I tried to encrypt even the internal memory of my Xperia M5. After pressing the start button and thereafter asking for the unlock pattern the phone showed for a second the android logo, then went into a mode, showing only an animated startup-image. For 8 hours nothing more happened. Then I pressed all 3 buttons Power-VLM up&down to restart the phone running into the error meassage screen "encryption unsuccessful". The only option was to reset the phone erasing the internal memory. WTF went wrong?
Unfortunately I have no complete backup to restore the system. And worst is that I ran the system encryption for the sd-card since 12 month already with the effect that I cannot access my picture gallery any more now. Probably the encryption key was stored in the internal memory that was erased by the reset of the phone.
Is there any way how I can regain the previous key for the sd-card encryption? I even know the PIN that I had used for encryption.
Update: I found a backup with titanium backup. How can I restore the encryption keys from there?
Basically, is it possible to backup encryption keys somehow?
PS: Phone is rooted.
I`d appreciate any help. Thanks!!!
so recently i installed twrp to install a custom rom but i didn't get the chance to do it.
the twrp recovery couldnt find the internal storage on my phone, and i saw a video that says you should change the data partition file system to Ext4 so i did and then i rebooted the phone.
then it showed a text which says "data partition has been corrupted, please reset to factory default" so i pressed the OK button and then it went to twrp then shut down and went to the exact same text.
now its freezed on the logo screen.
any help will be appreciated.

You need to format data partition not change it.
first you need to reinstall CFautoroot
first you need to reinstall CFautoroot, then wipe.factory reset, then again install TWRP recovery, then change repair data partition. it worked for me
