LTE Lollipop Issue fix - T-Mobile LG G3

Thanks for xda members bofiana and Shehwaz for tinkering around and finding the fix!!
So the issue is how some members are reporting that their G3's after Lollipop installed via Autoprime's lollipop zip, stock lollipop untouch zip via twrp and KDZ, or pretty much and Lollipop upgrade; LTE is not sticking after reboot, standby for a couple hours, lost connection, airplane mode, and etc.. LTE would always switch back to gsm/wcdma by itself after rebooting, standby for a couple hours, lost connection, airplane mode, and etc.. Even after KDZ,TOT,TWRP restore stock zip to other firmwares like 10c,10m,10r, and 20b the issue is still present. Weirdly enough the only way to get LTE to stick was to flash BlissPop 2.3 rom. Once Blisspop was installed LTE would always stick and never switch back to wcdma/gsm! Here are my steps and the steps of bofiana and Shehwaz to get LTE back to stick.
Make sure you are rooted and have TWRP recovery installed before proceeding!
1.) Go get the Blisspop 2.3 rom, no need for Gapps, Put that rom on your EXTERNAL SD card
2.) Go to TWRP recovery and Backup your current rom (cache and efs is not needed so don't put a check mark on those) to your EXTERNAL SD card and reboot back to recovery
3.) Once back in TWRP recovery fctory wipe and advance wipe everything except for the EXTERNAL SD card since the BLisspop rom is on that and also your backup
4.) Then install Blisspop 2.3 rom
5.) Once booted into Blisspop 2.3 you will noticed in Mobile Network Setting that LTE is selected and even after a reboot LTE is still selected
6.) Once that is confirmed boot back into TWRP and restore your backup from before
7.) Once restore is finish go the mobile network settings and confirmed that LTE is selected by default if that is the case reboot your G3 again and check again to see if LTE is still selected and if it is the LTE switching problem is now fixed!!!!
NOTE:
If you want a clean install you do not need to backup your current rom, instead download the 20b stock untouched zip and just flash that after flashing Blisspop. Remember flashing the 20b untouched stock rom will get rid of TWRP and Root so if you want TWRP and root remember to do that after.
Also this fixed worked for us and I can't guarantee that it will work for all Lollipop LTE issues, but this is pretty safe bet to try if you are experiencing the LTE switch issues and no harm in trying!

I am trying this method...

Worked for me, but i didn't do an advance wipe just a factory reset on step 3. When i loaded blissrom, it defaulted to 3g so i changed it to LTE.
Rebooted into recovery and restored the lollipop backup . LTE is now the default and working after rebooting. Thanks :highfive:

Thanks for mentioning me! I was getting really annoyed at the fact LTE wouldn't stick because I use Skype in the car a lot to speak to my S.O. and it would keep defaulting back to 4G whenever we hit a dead zone. I got mad and decided to try to see if going back to 10C fixed the issue and to no avail it didn't. I then went to blisspop rom and saw that it was working fine so then I was like let me try going to 20B now and see how that goes and voila it worked. Thanks for tinkering around some more and giving people a better answer than I did. You're doing the community a huge favor and I really appreciate it.

yeah Volte is now working for me, it wasnt working before.
But i believe there are some requirements for VoLTE to work. Im not sure how accurate these articles are, but both have to be on the same network (T-Mo to T-Mo) and calling partner both have to have VoLTE-compatible phones.

Quick question how do you know if VoLTE is working? I mean I know I have it enabled in the settings but when making a call is there an indication that it is active?

When making a call, check the 4g LTE icon. if it switches to the 4g icon then that means it is not using VoLTE. If the icon stays on 4g LTE, it should be using VoLTE.

Gotcha sweet yeah VoLTE is definitely working on my end too!

Its a no-go for me. Couldn't even get blisspop to stick on LTE ... Only thing I could think of that could be preventing it is that I have zero cell coverage here at the house while attempting. I'll report back tomorrow after I give it a go at the office (where I have very good LTE coverage)

Yeah that could be the issue. Also if I may ask which method did you use to update to lollipop?

I tried on both my backup of autoprime's zip compilation and my lg support kdz...no go for both :/

What I did that helped, because I was in the same position as you is that I KDZ'd back to 10C and then rooted via stumproot and installed Blisspop and then I KDZ'd back to 20B and my issue was gone.

Either do what Shehwaz said or you can just kdz with 20b and restore back to stock lollipop. After that root and install twrp, then install Blisspop. Don't restore from your backup from a previous rom. Make sure when you are in Blisspop that LTE stays before flashing stock 20b again. I'm pretty sure that will fix your issue.
Also when you switch to LTE manually does it stay? This method is for those who can at least get their LTE on and stay on when using it, but have it go away either from rebooting or after a long sleep period. If you can't get LTE via manually selecting you have a different issue and this fix might not work.

After flashing blisspop, do I clean flash 20b stock or just flash without wiping?

Just wipe it to be certain, also before you flash the stock 20b make sure in Blisspop that your LTE is sticking.

VoLTE started to work after the blisspop LTE fix. So both problems are related.

OK, reporting back:
Clean flash Blisspop (wipe everything but ExtSD)
After trying everything to tick the "LTE bug” in bliss, it never lost LTE (good sign)
Went back to TWRP
wiped everything again except for ExtSD
Flashed 20b Untouched ROM, then SuperSU, then TWRP
after successful boot of 20b, LTE stuck no matter what I tried.
THANKS GUYS, this is awesome
Going to do some more testing tomorrow, but it looks promising
Also, VoLTE didn't work on my first call, but that's probably bc its not activated in my area (Puerto Rico)

[Q] Need help flashing CM11 on ZVC

My LG G2 is on the latest version LS980ZVC rooted and latest TWRP Recovery(2.7.0.0). When I flash the latest CM11 nightly and GAPPS, Everything is successful. Problem is when I try to boot it, it won't go passed the LG Logo. I've tried factory reseting it through recovery while the rom is still flashed but to no luck.
I am not new to flashing as I've been doing it since the HTC Evo.
I've tried for the past couple of days searching through this site and the internet on my issue. When the ZVC update first came around there was a thread in the Sprint android development section that explained how flash any rom after the ZVC update and now I cannot find this thread.
Also, When I flash Mahdi Rom, it flash and boots perfectly fine. Only problem is, I get no data and service goes away completely and doesn't come back unless I reflash the rom. But it only lasts for about 5 minutes before it just drops again. When I switch back to stock and I find that I have to go into my mobile network settings and switch from global/wcdma back to lte/cdma in order to get service back.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Zv8 modem
The CM11 nightlies aren't made to work with the new ZVC kernel and baseband. In order to flash CM11 from ZVC you need to obtain the ZV8 modem and flash BEFORE the ROM and GAPPS. Boot to recovery and wipe everything except internal storage 3x to make sure everything is wiped. Then flash the modem rom and gapps in that order exactly otherwise it won't work. After everything flashes clear the davlik cache and cache 3x then reboot to system. Been using this method since I got my phone and it works everytime with every ROM I've tried. Also for those interested in unlocking US GSM capabilities do this then install an app called Tellinfo, from there you can do everything to change over to your GSM bands and use a GSM SIM card. I've been on AT&T for 3 months now.

[Q] Issues with my G Pro

Hey everyone,
Greetings from Jamaica!
I've had my e980 OGP for about 2 months now
When I got it, it was running the 10p firmware. After a while, I realized that i'm having random mobile network drops, sometimes I get a good signal, sometimes I don't, sometimes it goes and comes. I was advised to flash a custom rom, I rooted using the VROOT method, installed freegee from the play store and flashed cwm. I then flashed cm11. When I flashed cm11, it worked perfectly! after about 5-10 mins of first-time-use setting up, it froze, then started rebooting, after that it randomly rebooted constantly for the remainder of that day. after trying various custom roms, I decided to flash back to stock, but I flashed the kit kat stock firmware using the Flash Tool and the TOT file. Once v20g was up and running, the reboots stopped, but the signal issues came back, I'm clueless as to what would cause my issue, but I'm confident I can get some answers from the geniuses here, so plz, help a brotha out?
Any help? :fingers-crossed:
YOu could try changing the modem/baseband, there are a few floating around that you could flash.

Ok Thanks much. Is there a possible diagnosis for the random reboots in cm11? maybe a custom kernel could fix, or is there a flashable version of the e98020g kernel that I could flash on cm11 to make it... stop rebooting I guess? I'm kinda noob with this phone

I realize that no matter which custom rom I try, I still end up with random reboots. @madmack is there anything that could be done to stop the reboots? I tried flashing that stock kernel you made for kitkat onto PacMan but i'm stuck at the LG Logo. Any help? Please?:crying::crying::crying:

Use hacked twrp and make sure you wipe it clean ..completely clean. Install ROM .. Gapps.. And boot up ... Run build m8 or m9 cm.... But I run stock kk due to deep sleep issues for a lot of our Roms... Some get deep sleep and some don't ... But stock kk is where its at for me

AT&T and rogers, I barely use this phone, since I had it, only problems.
To double-down on what Shayne said, wipe SYSTEM as well, when jumping between AOSP/LG sources or JB and KK. Have you altered preferred network or APN at all? Leaving the defaults delivers the best stability if you're on AT&T. Finally, if you click settings--> mobile data --> menu, there are background data/auto-sync data options buried in there.

Ok, Thanks for the tips, I just flashed the most recent CM11 release using all the directions I got here so hopefully it works. I'm in Jamaica and so I dont have access to AT&T lol. CM11 gives perfect stability as it relates to mobile network tho...
[EDIT] I still get random reboots, apparently less frequent tho

LG Optimus G LS970 Data connection problem (4G LTE)

Relatively inexperienced with flashing ROMs and what not, but since switching to the LG Optimus G, flashing has been really simple. I have been running into a few problems though. No matter which ROM I choose, I can't seem to get my data connection to work. I've tried flashing various zips that claim to fix it, but so far no luck.
Currently running CM11 with TWRP
Any help would be appreciated.

No. The ROM itself is all you need. I'm not sure why it's stuck at boot. Try wiping cache, dalvik, and data. It should just boot. How long did you wait? It might take awhile. Possibly 5ish but no more than 10 minutes to boot.

What changed that caused it to work? I am glad you got it, I am just curious how the process came together.
I'm thinking forgot to wipe /system.
Not sure what I did different to make it boot into stock, but I made a back up, (Boot, System, Data, and Cache), flashed stock, booted, updated profile and PRL, wiped (Dalvik System, Data, and Cache) reinstalled back up and still no 4G, am I missing something or doing something wrong?
Almost Working
So I almost fixed it, I did the whole flashing back to stock thing with no luck. I did a clean flash of the latest cm11 Nightly, then also flashed the file found here
https://help.ting.com/entries/23423026-Flashable-Zip-Fixed-LTE-eHRPD-for-CyanogenMod
I figured maybe the problem was due to me being on Ting. So far I can get it to say I am on LTE, but any data connection I am receiving is painfully slow to the point where it is completely useless.
Any suggestions?

How would I go about manually putting in the APN settings? Is there a tutorial somewhere?
Also, is the unreliable LTE causeing my mms to not work? Or is that a separate problem all together?

Sprint LG G2 (LS980) - How to install CM13 roms - TWRP/Bootloader/Bootloop debunked

Before event thinking about anything, please create a backup of existing ROM.
Why the post?
CM13 is BUMP compatible. ( BUMP explained below)
The Sprint G2 is having very confusing Bootloader and Bootstacks combination needs for every major release of Cyanogenmod.
e.g.
Initially we had to have ZV8 modem for CM11 without it we had bootloops
We were confused with LP-loki and LP-BUMP bootstacks before using CM12.1

Why to update TWRP?
CM13 is BUMP. If you are like me and used FreeGee to downgrade aboot, for installing TWRP, then you are on JB bootloader which is Loki based.
Loki is synonyms to JB bootloader & BUMP is synonyms to Kitkat Bootloader.
So if you flash this ROM with current setup, you wont be able to go beyond Bootscreen LG logo (in other words, you would softbrick) because of Modem mismatch.
And if you flash the Hybrid bootloader after flashing ROM, then logically you should be fixing the above problem but your TWRP, which can be booted on Loki (JB), wont be able to boot behind Kitkat Bootloader.
So we will make the TWRP capable to boot on Kitkat bootloader and then start to play with the ROMs.
So first, Install TWRP-thermal from above link. I would recommend to update your current TWRP to 2.8.6.0 with official TWRP files (https://dl.twrp.me/g2spr/) and then flash the above zip to upgrade to 2.8.7.3
Which Bootstack and what about bootloader?
The BUMP recovery can boot against JB bootloader and Kitkat bootloader. So what you have now can boot on current bootloader. So basically you can restart the recovery with JB bootloader without any problem. Reboot and flash the Hybrid bootstack from above link which takes care of everything. Remember to reboot into recovery after you flash the bootstack.
Now for ROM installation the usual procedure is needed,
Wipe Dalvik, system, data and cache
Install ROM
Install Gapps
Reboot
Few common problems and solutions,
Bootstack failing signature validation - (Checksum of the bootstack-ls980-CAF-signed.zip is : e32c3c4d5ece4749903ef7502485f488 ). So if this is matching, uncheck Zip signature verification and flash.
Google Now-On-Tap not working - This will happen if you have opted for Nano Gapps file which would not have all apps for Now-On-Tap (Just Google app is not enough probably ).
So happy flashing and hit the thanks if you see above information useful.
Let me know if you want any clarification regarding above process or any specific points.
Would this method work on the Stock LP? Also, I am from Pakistan so would I need to do network unlock on the CM13 again or would it already be unlocked? If unlock is required, would the general stock LP unlock method work? Would really appreciate your help thanks for the great guide
Followed your directions... worked awesome... Thanks!

Hi,
SIM unlock does not go away after ROM installation so it will be unlocked. The SIM unlock procedure is same for AOSP and Stock roms which involves replacing few files with Root access.
If you have a problem with network (e.g. SIM not able to serch network ) after ROM install then it is a probelm with modem file, which is taken care by Hybrid bootstack in above case.
thank you bro
Only until yesterday i heard about bump loki and bootstack, i installed cm12.1 and 13 on my ls980 without knowing all this and they worked great until y tried to install Resurrection Remix and got the soft brick, i solved my problem with another post but i want to thank you anyway

thanks for the rom. It runs great with the exception of mobile data(3g or lte). I was wondering if there were some recommended tweaks. I also noticed that when I go into the "cellular network settings", the APN submenu among others are gone, although they were there right after the initial installation. Thanks again!

I've got the exact same issue. Just TOTed back to stock ZVG and restored my 3g/LTE connection. Gonna try flashing again later this evening. I'll let you know if it keeps the data connection or not.
On a side note, I did have 3g at one point but have yet to get LTE in ANY custom rom I've tried.

exactly. Same here. I even tried the custom ROMs in the OP. I don't consider having only 3g to be "fully working". I tried AICP, Resurrection, and CM13 above. I'm sticking to stock ZVI for now, because it looks like there won't be any custom Marshmallow development with working LTE.

I don't know why APN submenu disappeared but you can try latest build for LS980 from 06.05.2016: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=51135
Mobile data (evdo) is also working! On CDMA - for sure! Thanks to mrlika for great rom!
---------- Post added at 12:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:21 AM ----------
For all who use CDMA network! In all slim roms (AICP, PA, RR, Bliss, Exodus & other) except this rom (cm13-unofficial) you has working phonecalls (even 1x & 3g network) but NO EVDO AT ALL. I've tried all variants for LS980: only in this rom you has working 3G (EVDO). Also I think its the same for LTE. So I've forget about ZVI & use this great CM13 build! All is working!
I am running AICP, have Hybrid bootstack installed, and cannot get LTE or 1x unless I am on modem ZV8.
Is it possible to run a newer modem (at least ZVG) and get LTE?
Help please!

No! If you restore your partitions after - you have the same rom as before you install cm13! You must restore your sw using backup software like titanium backup. And NEVER restore xposed software settings - you'll have system crashes after... But another steps seems fine.

If you flash 5.0.2 bootstack, then you cannot stay on zv8 modem, because bootstack flashes modem also. But anyway you can find zvimodem.zip and flash it through recovery after; I've tried it myself and have no issues with rom after. But LTE & EVDO you can have ONLY on cm13 "clean" rom - this rom by mrlika. If you flash AICP, bliss, exodus etc. - these roms are 'slim', which means you cannot turn on evdo mobile data (or maybe lte also) in it! Be aware about it, because I've tried almost 10 different roms, and EVDO working only in cm13 by mrlika!

I have looked and can't find ZVI for LS980. I did find ZVH and am running it: it fixed my LTE issue.
Works you mind pointing me in the direction of the ZVI modem? I can find only the update itself, and have not been able to extract it successfully.
Here is ZVI modem. I've put it on my google drive https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_i7PPx6-NrOMHNsdUcyblFhdlU Just flash it through TWRP

Okay just to put this out there... I did exactly the steps I listed in my post and everything worked 100% fine. Also I updated to the latest blastigator 3.0.1-2 after everything, so I can confirm my steps worked! But to add anything important for anyone who might want to know this is what I did before install CM13.
-restored phone with ZVA8.tot (4.2.2)
-rooted using ioroot
-download FreeGee and installed TWRP (while still on stock 4.2.2 btw)
-downloaded cm11 SnapShot
-then I decided to update my TWRP to 2.8.6.0 (the latest available TWRP for lg g2 ls980 from the main TWRP website
-rebooted into recovery and flashed the latest TWRP I installed and rebooted successfully without wiping anything (still on 4.2.2)
-then checked to make sure I have everything I need
-rebooted into recovery again
-went to wipe, advanced wipe, and checked everything except "internal storage"
-then while still in recovery (don't reboot after wiping) flash CM11 and rebooted
-everything worked fine still and cm11 was successful
-went into settings and downloaded the latest CM12 SnapShot and did an auto update after downloading
-rebooted successfully
-then I came here and read on how to install CM13 and did that, and if you follow my exact list from earlier from what I asked, it will lead to success.
~also through the whole process I never installed Gapps except when I upgraded to CM13 (made the process faster) and ONLY update to the latest Thermal/Blastigator TWRP after you install CM13 on the recoveries listed in the main post, and make sure you Backup everything to be safe incase a mistake is made.
/the list I made asking if it would work correctly did work, and aside from restoring from the backup, my list is a simpler version of the instructions from the main post, but I give all credit to the poster and say thanks and I only put their list of steps into my simpler form, thanks!

Lots of useless steps. If you has TWRP already, you don't need flash tot or cm11-12! Just flash latest twrp-blasted, then bootstack-caf + cm13 + gapps! Profit! (As I've mentioned before, bootstack updates radio & aboot).
P.S. ZVA (ZV8) tot you need only in 1 case: if you need to make sprint unlock, before you put another phone number (i.e. then you buy it from smb.). For install cm13 if you has twrp & root also - this is unnecessary

[ROM] LS980 ZVI stock 5.0.2 flashable

This was tough to get as LG locked down all known exploits with the ZVI release. It took some hardware hacking to pull a clean unmodified system and kernel. Here is a flashable zip:
http://jacobstoner.com/LS980ZVI.zip
This includes a bootstack with an older bootloader and TWRP 2.8.7.3. The ZVI kernel has been bumped to work with the older bootloader. Otherwise this is completely unmodified and unrooted so if you want root then flash SuperSU after flashing this.
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
Thanks for sharing, i am on cyanogenmod 11, can i install it with hybrid bootstack and blestagator's bumped twrp?
It will replace your bootstack and update twrp, but it will work fine.
Thanks, man! I wait for it so long! Because I'm still on ZVG because ZVI was unrootable. So all what I need is just clean flash room in recovery and install supersu app? Without any unlockers? Downloading now, making backups and give a try!

Yes, just flash in recovery and flash the supersu zip from the link above. You can dirty flash over ZVG, it will overwrite the whole system partition anyway.
Confirmed! If works! Just made clean installation 20 minutes ago & flash supersu.zip through recovery. Superuser works fine. So now I've try restore zvg & flash over it. Because I use lots of exposed modules & dorimanx kernel, titanium backup, lucky patcher, freedom etc. For this sw root is critical... Thanks a lot for latest ZVI + root! Later I link to your thread for peoples from russian 4PDA LG G2 thread. Lots of people will be happy!
ROM working well for me too. Thanks!
Not ever try to flash on installed rom! You'll receive a lots of lags after! Make app backup & flash "clean" install through recovery. I found also 1 issue in recovery: then screen goes off after you turn it on you see only blue-grey-black-white stripes with tiny squares. It happens not always but sometimes.
P.S. Previously I also used bumped 2.8.7.3 TWRP and has no problems. Also I use xposed, so when I flash ZVI on ZVG & restore apps backup has lots of lags like force close systemUI, deleted unworking software etc. So - clean install! After that - restore backup, but only user apps, not system like xposed apps, home g4 launcher, dialer etc.!

that's wonderful, @jacob019, thanks for sharing this highly waited zip of the ZVI, as far as i am on cloudy G2 3.3 with my LS980 for a long time and have not experienced the stock firmware after ZVG.
I have two questions in my mind if you could please clear them.
1. Is there any problem in the ZVI like most of the LG updates have not been without bugs or lagging ?
2. Can i flash this zip directly from my already installed TWRP without going back to stock ZVG or ZVE? (I have Cloudy G2 3.3 installed with blastgator's boot stack/baseband) {Cloudy G2 v3.3 is indeed a perfect ROM for my LS980 till now}
Thanks again for the great job you have done

Thanks @jacob019 for your time and again for your great job.
I will try it as soon as the download of the zip file will be completed.
And i also must try the SIM unlock as you mentioned above because i live out of US and am using GSM network not CDMA, so i think to do that i need some preparations.
I hope there are thousands in this line to need ZVI and the SIM unlock. Hail Jacob.
What is the flashing procedure by the way? is it same as we flash custom ROM (wipe system, devlock, cache and data) or just wipe dev lock and cache and flash the zip file
Just reboot to tarp recovery, choose wipe - advanced - check all except "sdcard" - wipe and just flash zip. Also better to flash supersuper.zip if you need root. Reboot - profit!
For me it works flawlessly, slight more battery drain, but solved by dorimanx kernel, xposed & greenify app. I didn't see the even mentioned lags in this Rom. Working for me the same as ZVG & also rootable!

@astherion, Thanks for the SIM Unlock files, by the way rooted is OK but but what is "after correct installation" is it what the software in PC does with the mobile or something else? And developer options have to enabled or otherwise?
Edited: Thank you very much guys specially @jacob019 and @astherion, you guys rock the party. The stock Lollipop is flashed perfectly and SIM Unlock was the most simple step i have every seen in the LG world, But astherion you should have mentioned the USB debugging option as it needs to be enabled before running the simunlock.exe from the PC, and an other thing i can see Hands free activation disturbs after every reboot (i have just rebooted twice and it cameup both times) and battery level also going very fast don't know why but, this can be a major issue which may force some people like me to go back to Cloudy. My battery was at 75% and 4 hours 12 minutes remaining and after i rebooted to recovery and wiped devlock cache and data, still battery says 69 % 3 hours 3 minutes remaining. This is dangerous, the battery graph is showing like a forward slash is on the graph panel, I will attach pics.
Indeed this all made me a fan of you guys,
So I am on ZVH, rooted with TWRP installed. Can I just flash the zip files?
When doing a clean install, are you just totting back to an earlier release(ZVE or G), rooting and installing TWRP and then this zip files?

Yes, you can just flash the zip file; should be no need to wipe data if you're coming from ZVG. Also there is no need to tot back to an earlier release unless you are already on ZVI because wiping data and installing this zip will produce just as clean of an install.
@talvigi, battery is okay for me; but I'm used to stock. I'm not sure about disabling activation because I'm using it on Sprint. I'm sure you can find info on how to improve both of those issues, but there isn't anything to be done here since this is an unmodified stock rom.
