I recently purchased a SanDisk 64gb class 10 sd card. I have been trying to save files like music, photos and apps to it but nothing seems to work. If I move music files they disappear and pictures won't open and they say there is an error opening them. Apps Grey out also. I have tried using the HTC file manager but it won't work. I've installed es file manager, tried moving stuff there but it won't work. I've read online about using apps like Rom Toolbox and Root explorer and they haven't worked. I've recently rooted my phone and running on the recent leedroid rom. I still have s-on. Do I need to s-off or is there a workaround? This is doing my head in so would really appreciate the help.
Thanks

I'm guessing no one knows how to solve this issue
Have you tried reformatting the sd card on your computer? Try FAT32 and if that doesn't work try NTFS. I don't know the solution to the problem, I'm just throwing it out there...
At first when I read title I was thinking it was the kit kat sd limitation. Have you checked sd card for errors?
Tried that. Starting to think it might be the sd card as it was bought off eBay but it is a SanDisk one.

If it was cheap, maybe it was a fake one... Have you tried the card on another phone?
I don't have another phone I can try it on. Is the something I can do on my laptop that checks if it's fake or faulty?

sdcard checker: https://www.avforums.com/threads/fake-sd-cards-test-yours-now.1347842/
but first I would put the card in the phone, then restart the phone, it will want to put some system folders on there which it will do during boot, then goto settings - storage - format sdcard, your phone will then make sure its the correct format, then once again restart to put those system folders back on, now try and copy to it.
I'll have a look into this tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Hi everyone, looking for a little guidance.
Phone: Android G1 (Rogers Canada Dream) running Cyanogen 4.2.15.1, been running fine since 4.2.6.1
Removed SD card while it was on and it rebooted... when it restarted it showed no applications and said the SD card was inaccessible and required a format. After rebooting a few times with no success I bit the bullet and formatted it... all apps are gone except for the ones that are on that image for Cyanogen. I have no market app to download new apps and when I plug it into my PC and mount it I don't see it show up as a drive like it did so I have no way to get the apps back on.
Has anyone had this happen before? Phone still works but I need to get it back to a state where I can get access to the SD and install the market... Any suggestions appreciated!!
Might have corrupted the SD card. If u did then u will have to get a new one and start all over. Do u have a file manager that can show what's on your SD?

Thats the problem, I have no file manager on the phone now, I see the SD card is fine, I can take pics and videos and store them on it and view then now... I assume when I removed the SD card because it was mounted might have corrupted it. So now I cant put anything on it, access it or even go to the market to get a file manager...
U can't even save what's on your SD to your computer either I assume. You might be stuck with getting a new one and see what happens. Would be a good time to make the jump to 5.0.8 or even froyo. (Only good way to look at it). hope u get it fixed.

Today I installed the rom called Pirate rum. But now I can't mount my SD card. I tried booting into recovery to flash another rom. But not even clockwork can mount it.
I have tried using a cardreader in my computer. It reads the card fine.
I then backed up files and formatted the card, but it's still unreadable.
Also tried another card.
Are there anyone who might be able to help?

does the device read your sim card? it sounds like a usb brck if, its happening with more than one card
It reads the sim card. It's the SD card which doesn't work...
Also tried with amon ra.
I got it!
It was usb bricked. I remembered a tutorial from modaco, and fixed it.
Thanks Androhero. (For making me think it could be that. )
I have been looking for the last week trying to locate instructions (assuming there are instructions) for swapping out an sd card in the G2. My phone is rooted. Has clockwork recovery, has the CyanongenMod 6.4 Rom.
Can someone give me a brief run down on this? Do I have to re-root and reinstall ROM for sd card swap?
OR, can someone please just post a link to the page (if there is one) that will describe the Rooted, ROM mod'ed, overclocked, and whatever..., HTC G2 SD card swap?
Thank you! This will be really appreciated! Mainly because I am a full time criminal justice student about to graduate with not much time to spend 50 hours a day looking for this anymore!
Sincerely,
Paul
Do you just want to use a different sd card in your phone?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
No. Or I guess, yes. Im bumping the gigs from the stock 8 to 32

mount the sd via flash reader or usb and copy all of it over to the new sd card then pop the new one in the phone and presto!
that simple really??? what about hidden files or roots????
Sorry I'm about to do the same thing and was wondering...
Any root and or system files are on your phone. You can swap sd cards freely. Just copy everything to your new on on a computer and your good togo.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Root and all that is done internally on the phone, the sd card just has things on it like application data, or pictures or music. So as long as you transfer everything from the old sd card to the new one, you will be good

Ok.
Another question in result of this answer, I already have everything backed up with titanium (I think that is what it is called) backup. Same with in clock work recovery. And now after all of these procedures, I copied the whole sd card top my hard drive. Can I put the new card into the phone and use the phone to format the new card so I can do away with a lot of junk that I would not necessarily know about.?Then copy the files I want back onto the new card?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Correction. When I day junk, I mean not transferring the un necessary junk from the old card to the me card. And just format thee new one with nothing on it so it will work inthe phone.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Really its an sd card just switch it out transfer any music or anything to the new one it don't need an entire thread
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
What you need to do, is copy all the files from the old card into a file on your pc somewhere, unless you have a desktop that has a card reader on it.
Take the old card out.
Put the new card in the phone, format it. (menu/settings/sdcard/format)
Then open the files and transfer them into the new card that is mounted in your phone through usb. Or if you have a card reader on your desktop just drop and drag to the new card.
My question is, what class of a card do you need to purchase?
Dunno. It is a class 4, though. I don't think a class 4 will be a bad choice, given the card is rated at 4 mb/s. Something like that. I would think the C4 would be a relevantly fast enough card.
I wanted to let y'all know, I just transfered all over to the new card. Sorry for a dumb thread. I really didn't think it would that simple. But I guess some things are!
Hey! So my 64gb SanDisk microsd card was working fine then the other day it decided to switch to read only, and nothing I do will fix it, windows refuses to format it, ubuntu says it did but the data remains untouched, nothing works! Any help?

Same issue here: did you update ROM to 4.3 version? I read that it could contain a setting within the platform.xml file that you find into system/etc/permission folder. See this
I tried it but with no success.
I hope you're luckier
Btw i sent it back to Amazon asking for refund (and they agreed). Bye

I warn you trying this setting. I tried this >>> Editing .XML file. I started getting severe force closes especially Google Frame Work Services. Even reverting did not help. Had to use my Nandroid Backup to go back.
4.3 is sucking so far for 64 GB External SD Card write support. Titanium Backup & Helium both apps can not do automatic scheduled Backups on External SD Card since 99% of the time they do not get Write Access. Only way to do an external SD Card backup is manually after rebooting the phone, even that is hit n miss.

I agree with you. 4.3 is still far from 64Gb SD Card support, and I know that editing this file can be dangerous, but I read that someone was able to restore his card and due to its cost was worth a try. During my tentative, this update didn't have effect (but at least I didn't get more troubles).
Same issue.
64GB SanDisk card from my Note 3 (search brought me here) became read only after 5 months.
I've ended up sending it under warranty back to SanDisk.
I'm glad I didn't loose anything as I've backed it up but still don't like the idea of returning something with a lot of my data and photos I can't delete.
may have found solution

I was having the very same problem. I finally went into the computer management, and was about to throw phone across room....when I tried to format one last time. This time I unchecked the quick format. It is taking longer, but seems to be working...I am keeping fingers crossed.
Full Format has finished and card is saved! Hope this helps anyone in the future.
My Lg Optimus g pro that is rooted will not let me use apps like App2sd or anything similar. Says I don't have an actual SD card. Well I do and my storage folder shows it. What's up? Other apps say that they are not supported by my phone.

Same here... I tried several apps, they all said I don't have any external SD..
I have a 64GB card...
SD card not visible?
I have a 32gig card onboard, and it is not being recognized by the phone or my computer. Any ideas? Bone stock, have not rooted or attempted to install recovery........yet. Any advice or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
This might help. You need root though.
SD card issue resolved.
I'm not sure of how many were having the issue described in this thread, but this is what fixed my particular case. The SD card I was attempting to mount was not new but one I had in a my LG P925. With that same card, I mounted it in WIndows 8.1, then removed safely, dismounting. Then re-inserting back into the LG P980. It was immediately recognized and mounted.:laugh::victory:
I have noticed that to but when I look in the settings under storage it shows that I have external SD card but when I look in the apps it has nothing to send to SD card
