Cannot get PurpleDrake to detect LG G3 (D85110r) - T-Mobile LG G3

I was following this guide to root my LG G3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/how-to-root-kvt49l-d85110r-install-twrp-t3004158
and when running purpledrake_windows.bat from PurpleDrake-Lite, my phone is never detected and stays at the homescreen unchanged. I have tried about 10 times so far.
Some notes on my situation:
* Developer mode has been enabled, and Android USB debugging is enabled when connected.
* Unknown sources is checked and Verify apps is unchecked.
* I uninstalled newer LG drivers to reinstall the drivers provided by the guide.
* All software used was downloaded from the guide.
* Phone is Android 4.4.2 and build is KVT49L.D85110r.
Can anyone tell me what I can do to get it to detect my phone?

If I were you I would try the new One click root method that works for most LG phones. It is actually easier to use and better success rate with the newer firmwares for our G3 including Lollipop. Works flawlessly for me every-time. If I am not mistaken Purple Drake only supports up to 10m.
Anyways here is the link for the One click root method, I can confirm it worked on 10c,10m,10r, and 20b

Thanks for the suggestion vel0city, but for some weird reason it was detected once I put the protective case back on the phone, which I believe must be purely coincidental. The rooting went smoothly after that.

[Guide][TOOL] FASTBOOTROOT (deprecated)

(DEPRECATED)
I no longer support or care to support this is someone wants to take over and deal with this and the complaints go for it. It has not been tried on the 2.2.2 version of android in case you want to try it.
Tired of all those funky ways of rooting? Wanna just push a button and be rooted?
Guess what I've got something for you.
Introducing FastbootRoot (patent not pending) for the virgin mobile optimus v
FastbootRoot was designed with simplicity in mind. The easy to use ui makes rooting your lg optimus easy and quick without all those adb commands. It takes the guess work out ( is this right, what does he mean by that? ) of rooting your phone.
Features:
flash a custom recovery
this feature only flashes a custom recovery without rooting your phone giving you the ability to back up your current system without root. I put this in here in case of needing to return the phone for warranty matters
flash the entire shebang
This flashes a new boot image, a new system image*, and custom recovery.
Revert to stock
thanks to destundead we now have the stock system image and boot combined with my stock recovery we are good to go
New experimental install windows xp fastboot drivers
My goal is to fully automate this process and to make this as painless as possible for the new users. This new feature is untested and will either work or it won't. Give me some feedback if it does or doesn't.
--------------------------How to Use--------------------------
Download fastbootroot from here and place it on your desktop.
Download the usb drivers from here
On your phone turn on usb debugging by pushing menu, then settings, then applications, then development, and then usb debugging.
Install the drivers ( I find that rebooting after the drivers have been installed will install a whole new set of drivers. I recommend this method)
unzip fastbootroot and inside double click the fastbootroot file. Make your selection and your done.
Here's a video on using it and a little explanation
watch it here
WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS:
no need to install usb drivers
Enjoy this and remember this works fully on windows 7 and I tested it myself. No matter what there's always room for user error though in which case I take no responsibility if things go wrong.
PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS
Some people are reporting problems like drivers not installing or other things. First off if you have a problem you need to state exactly what operating system you are using (windows 7, windows vista, or windows xp).
This only works with the virgin mobile optimus v. Make sure you have the virgin mobile optimus v (not a optimus t, m or a picture of the v pasted on top of a w490)
Tell me what you did exactly don't lie. I know from experience when someone says, 'I did this I definitely didn't do that', whether or not they are holding something back. The more info you can give the better if your holding something back that's gonna delay the process.
This is free. I ask for donations but they aren't required at all. So when your asking for more things remember this is free.
Like my work donate to me herehttps://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=FEP8NQ8J49MX8
*the new system image is stock with root, flash_image and busybox installed

yep the only thing that you gotta do is download fastbootroot and the lg drivers. It will take care of everything else for you. I will say that I've tested this and my earlier variant of it quite a few times. I even made a video for the other one.
Downloading this now. will give it a try. Thanks!

This does not seem to be happening. How can I abort the fastboot procedure so I can reboot and try again?

Hello? Please someone be there who can help me!
The detection sequence you describe did not work, Windows is not finding the drivers properly. Is it safe to reboot the machine while in fastboot? Can I unplug the USB without bricking my phone?

If nothing has flashed, I'm sure you're fine. It dependant on how far it got .
Would op mind posting the manual way to root through fast boot?

yes your okay to unplug your phone the process either works all the way or not at all I'm confused as to why it didn't install the drivers though. I guess I'll just have to add them to the batch

I removed the battery and the phone restarted without issues. Not sure why things did not go the way they're supposed to--could it be because I had the drivers from the ROMTOOLS package installed before? NOTE: Prior to trying this procedure I uninstalled all of those and rebooted before installing the drivers linked here.
Another thought, OP says he is running Windows Seven; I am on Windows XP. Could this have anything to do with my trouble?
--bornagainpenguin
UPDATE: I tried installing the drivers included with the ROMTOOLS package and my phone was recognized again. No luck when trying to run fastboot. Not sure why this is happening or why I am unable to use the drivers OP linked to. They seem to install when clicked but the system doesn't seem to think the drivers apply to this phone for some reason...
Okay what happened was your fastboot drivers didn't install correctly I'm in the process of uploading a video to show you how to install the fastboot drivers.
I wrote this while before your last post yes there is a problem with windows xp. It doesn't download them like it would on windows 7. I can test all day long on windows 7 but not on xp. The method in the video should work for xp users

I appreciate the effort, but unless the video is closed captioned it may not do me much good. I am hard of hearing (one of the reasons why I picked this phone was its high T4 rating which works well with my hearing aids and telecoil adapter --think headphones for hard of hearing people) so cannot always hear audio on videos very good.

I've integrated the fastboot drivers into the next release for windows xp I need a beta tester before I release this.
Does this just root our existing system, or does it install a whole new rooted image (requiring us to reinstall all of our programs and settings)?
I have XP, by the way. If it just roots, I would be willing to beta test (but if it doesn't work, if it doesn't work, I want to be able to get back to where I was as my phone works well).
This is F*****KIN GREAT!!!! Thanks!!
I'm having bootloop issues and I see a post here which suggests that one way to fix the situation is with fastboot. Do you know if fastboot can help me? If so, how?

Rooting LG Optimus BIG - WIP

Hello
I spend about 6 months in Korea as an exchange student, and picked up a LG Optimus BIG (Korea-specific phone AFAIK).
I liked the phone, and took it with me back home to Norway, assuming I could root it and use my Norwegian SIM card.
So I downloaded the official drivers from LGforum (LGAndroidDriver_Ver_1.0_All.exe),
grabbed SuperOneClick v2.3.3, and set to work.
The first time I plugged my phone into my computer, it was not recognized even though I had installed the official drivers.
After some frustration, rebooting of the phone, removing the SD card, and restarting my computer, it suddenly worked, showing all OK in "Devices and Printers".
Starting SuperOneClick, it started off successfully, rebooting the device, and going as far as "Shell rooting device... - Step #3". (pic included below)
Then the program froze, and causing my entire computer to hang and chew RAM.
I restarted my computer, restarted the phone, and restarted the program, but the same thing happened.
Yes, the phone is in debugging mode.
No, I have not mounted the SD card.
Will try doing it in recovery mode now.
----------
edit#1
seems like there is no recovery mode for this phone :-(
checked the "About Phone"
- Model number: LG-LU6800
- Android version: 2.2.2
- Baseband version: MDM6600
- Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
- Build number FRG83G.V128.421e1e05
- Software version: LU680128, Sep 27 2011
attempted to install and run "z4root", unsuccessful
installed Android SDK.
opening terminal and typing "adb devices" lists one device, i.e. I have a connection with the phone at least...
copied GingerBreak to the SD card, no luck with that one either :-(
----------
edit#2
tried to install UPK
device seems to automatically kick out any attempt to install things via USB, maybe it's a driver error after all?
will grab a new USB cable, un-install drivers and look for the original Korean drivers
----------
edit#3
SUCCESS!
new USB cable, re-installed drivers, and managed to achieve full root with BlackJack (originally created for Optimus Black)
now to play around with it for a while and see if I'm able to extract any goods before trying a new ROM
Rooting Optimus Big
I'm in Korea right now and I have an Optimus Big. I'd like to root it while I'm here, because honestly I'm use to Ice Cream Sandwich and the downgrade to Froyo is driving me mad. I was wondering if you could give me any information on rooting the phone and also if I root it? Will my phone stop working with SK?
Hey
Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy trying to find a job
Like I wrote in the original post, it's rootable via BlackJack tool (fin it in the LG Optimus Black sub-forum).
Since I canceled my contract (LG U+) when I went home, I don't know if the phone will stop working or not...
It works with my Norwegian SIM card though, but that's not locked down in any way like phones/SIM cards are in Japan/Korea...
I successfully upgraded to ICS, but re-installed the original software for the time being.
Finding software for the TV seems pretty impossible, and camera support on the ICS ROM that I have access to is buggy as hell
Maybe nobody needs this anymore, but...
I have successfully achieved root on my Optimus Big (LU6800) running Android 4.0.4 ICS by using Unlock Root (I cant post a link since im new here but a quick google search will do!). It was fast and easy, not that I am officially endorsing them in any way. Just my opinion. Now if i could just get CWM running...

USB debugging shutting down itself (?)

Hello.
This is what I am dealing with.I am enabling USB debugging through Settings/Developer Options and:
The bean face appears instantly in the notification bar but doesn't remain there.
When I go again inside the developer options the USB debugging is unticked as if it was disabled by itself.
As a result of this no ADB mode is available through GN toolkit. For your interest I remember this was working fine till maybe yesterday.
Only major change to the phone was installing some apps like Avast mobile security, pocketcloud, titanium backup and clockwork mod recovery (through GN toolkit).
The phone is GN GSM version, unlocked, rooted and on 4.1.1 stock for over a month now wit the help of Galaxy Nexus Toolkit v.7.8.0.
Flasboot mode works fine.
ADB driver loads fine in windows (7 x64) and the device is recognized in device manager when it is plugged in.
Tried different USB ports, other computer, no difference.
Any help on getting USB debugging back would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Anyone having an idea?
ok, i get it, you used a toolkit.
that said, uninstall those apps, reinstall one by one till you find the culprit?

Hello bk201doesntexist.
I already uninstalled all those apps but that didn't help (checked after reboot).
I forgot to mention one more thing from "yesterday's messing around with my GN" and that is that through the toolkit I installed the CWM Recovery Touch. Then I got into Android ran Flash CWM Recovery from ROM Manager, in the hope any update was avail.I then reboot to test the "new" CWM recovery only to find out the touch interaction was gone.
One more strange thing happening is that 3G data connection opens automatically on boot despite being set to OFF.That wasn't happening as well.
Any ideas or possible causes? Do you think there is anything else I can do?
Thank you very much for stopping by.
PS - Is it bad I used a toolkit?
Ok in my case it was Avast Antitheft module the deny USB debugging setting causing the issue. Now USB debugging is back.
Hope someone else finds this helpful.

[Q] Rooting Help? USB Not Working In Download Mode

I have a Sprint Samsun Galaxy Note 4, in the USA. I'm trying to root my device - I've read online tutorials, watched videos, and it doesn't seem to be working. Here's what happens:
1. Downloaded CF Auto Root for my device, unzipped it.
2. Set up ODIN.
3. Set phone to download mode, plugged in to PC.
4. Did not see the blue light, figured I didn't have the right drivers.
5. Turned phone back on, and noticed that ODIN light now works (as do file transfers), but downloaded new drivers anyway.
6. Uninstalled old drivers, rebooted.
7. Installed new drivers, rebooted.
8. Placed phone in download mode again, same issue.
Any ideas?
Did you wait a couple of minutes between steps 3 and 4 before giving up. I just re-did this last night; I didn't time it but my PC must have taken a minute to show COM to be ready to start Odin on the stock tar.
I was also having USB driver issues and reinstalled. My PC has been having USB issues in general with Windows 8.1 updates; had to uninstall and reinstall the same PC generic USB driver. Circa 2009 era PC needs an overhaul or replacement.
BTW, if you're using an older CF Auto root, CF went back to Odin 3.07 and updated to superSU v2.45
I did, because I was unsure what was going on. This is only the second time I've rooted a phone, so I was unsure what would happen if I pulled the battery. I think I waited about 20 minutes while looking online to figure out what was going on.
I'm not sure what you mean by an older version. I downloaded the version for my phone from chainfire.eu

Some questions I should have asked earlier: USB debugging enabled? Using USB 2.0? Tried different USB cables?
Yes, device debugging is enabled. First thing I did on my phone after activation =)
I'm not sure how to tell if I'm using USB 2.0 or 3.0.
I did try a different cable. I don't think the cable would be the issue since it works when the phone is on normally, though?
I'm going to follow the troubleshooting guide in the links you posted, see if that helps =)

PS. Did you use Kingo to root your note 4? I might give it a try.
No, I just posted links for the thoroughness of checks. I used CF Auto root. Good luck.
Did not work either. It DOES say I'm connected, went through the reboot, but then just starts over again. /sigh
I'm thinking the MTP might be the issue, but I don't seem to have a MSD option on my note 4?
Any more ideas?
What Windows version are using? If it's 8.1, has it been updated? There was a USB 2.0 update that fixed some devices reporting as compatible greater than 2.0 but not handled correctly by Windows 8.1 but was OK with Windows 8.0 and below. Windows 8.1 got an update July, 2014, that should have fixed that but not all were fixed; there's a link for reporting exceptions with a log but I'm not sure that applies to you.
Have you tried using the USB port on test of PC case?
Maybe being more specific about your PC and what you've tried would help.
From there, if anyone else has some suggestions, please advise.

I'm sorry but I don't recall seeing this reply because I don't understand it now. I may have overlooked it?
Are you saying the phone appears to download but boot loops? You should see success and 0 failures prior to auto boot. Is that the CF Auto root flash in Odin or another Odin flash like recovery or stock tar? If that's happening, did you try to pull battery and delete cache and dalvik cache in recovery? Is the phone semi bricked or just not rooted? Can you Odin the recovery tar for TWRP recovery? If so, you could just flash the superSU zip file in TWRP.
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
Another suggestion, if you're getting anywhere with Odin, you should close and reopen Odin if doing multiple flashes. Close after each flash; i.e., power down, flash stock tar, close Odin, open Odin, flash CF Auto root, close Odin, flash recovery (download mode steps omitted since you know that already).
Again, someone might could help with detailed setup details and steps taken. Sorry if I'm not following well; I'd like to help, if possible.

Didn't realize the auto correct suggested wrong word. I meant rear USB of PC case but trying another PC is also suggested.
Windows 7 means most of my suggestions regarding the drivers may not apply to you. Off topic: upgrading to Windows 8 from Windows Vista had me searching for needed applications and tools omitted from Windows 8. Windows 7 is more developer ready than Windows 8. Simply rooting should be OK with either version as long as drivers and Windows updates are up to date and not broken.
Try those ideas; if still no success, consider the suggestions and questions I gave in the reply earlier today.

Pc not Recognizing ZF2 (Code 43)

Hi,
When I connect my ZF2 to the PC, I get an error saying USB device not recognized.
Here are some of the troubleshooting steps I've done:
Tried another cable
Tried another pc
Made sure USB debugging is enabled
Select USB configuration is set to MTP
Made sure ASUS drivers are installed an up to date
Uninstalled drivers from device manager
Updated drivers from device manager
Charging port works (even fast charges when I use the right cable)
SD card slot works
Had a technician replace the entire charging board (pcb board)
Specs:
ZOOA 2gb/16gb
Running 6.0.1
CM13 20161219 Nightly
Also, i'm thinking of restoring my phone back to original stock (that's why I would like to be able to connect it to pc) but if there is a way to put it back to stock without the need of a pc, i'm all ears for it. I'd like to give the stock ASUS updates and software a chance now cause ever since I got the phone, I have been on custom ROMs.
I'm running out of ideas.
Message me here or on facebook or maybe even on battlenet. Just please help me.

You may have to update the driver from device manager. I was alsofacing the same issue..
1. Go to device manager.
2.Right click on MTP DEVICE and Select UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE
3.Then select BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE
4.Then select LET ME PICK FROM A LIST..................
5.Uncheck SHOW COMPATIBLE HARDWARE
6.SELECT (STANDARD MTP DEVICE)
7. In the 2nd panel Select MTP DEVICEAND THEN CLICK NEXT.
hope this will solve the problem.
If not send me a screenshot at this email id: [email protected]

hello , can you install a fresh copy of cm13 from around October ?
Obviously do a back up of your current set up first , then test.
Adb , USB enabled etc ?
Nothing in fastboot showing either ?

Hi,
Can you point me to an instructional video on how to install a fresh copy of cm13? I just wanna make sure that I do the right steps.
Also, am just curious. Are you also using a zf2 right now? Are you on stock or custom ROM? Since CM13 has been discontinued, i was thinking of switching ROMs. Any particular ROM that you would recommend?

Interesting thing here is under developer options, when i try to change the select usb configuration, it does not let me choose anything aside from charging.

reboot to bootloader and what ifwi version is it ?
If over a year ago you will have LP version .
I will link you to the appropriate thread soon as we determine the correct ifwi.
Just as a side not , lots of people have had the same bug
I think its a driver issue that windows update have blocked
..

This is the 3rd time i ask for your IFWI version ?
You said its been a year since you installed CM13 , and the chances of you having M BL is virtually none existant
You probably have the LP version of M :good:
Unless someone magically sneaked in your home whilst asleep about July and upgraded your bootloader and installed 3.0.2M twrp.
The reason i asked for your IFWI version.
reboot to bootloader and what ifwi version does it say it is there ??????????

Apologies. I do not know how to what IFWI version I have. How do I check?
You probably have the LP version of M -- I probably have the lollipop version of Marshmallow?
I am not really well versed with the terminologies now but if you could show me how to check the IFWI version, that'd be great.

Thank you.
To check if my device is recognized in fastboot, I should connect phone to PC via cable and then reboot to bootloader, correct? I'll do that when I get home.
Would you recommend STOCK or a CUSTOM ROM yourself?
