I am trying to get rid of the "Ongoing" in my notification bar. It just showed up one day. There is a battery with the percent on the left side on the status bar, too. Any idea on what to do to get rid of this?

That's from your carrier only way to get rid of it is to root your phone and custom rom.....but some custom roms has that as well but most of them don't

That doesn't make any since, because my wife's SGS3 doesn't have it on her phone.
Thank you for the info. I will look into it
I don't think it has anything to do with rooting your phone. It just means that you have ongoing notifications. And you can't clear these like you can the one time normal notifications because they are still active i.e., ongoing. Once you close those tasks, like turning off the wifi calling and whatever the other item is, the ongoing notitications will clear themselves automatically. I don't know how to keep it from showing these ongoing notifications when they are active. Probably a feature of the app itself. Unless the app itself gives you that option under its settings.
It's a setting in the app.

That makes sense, but what app?
The app that is shown.... click on the ongoing notification the app should open then hit menu and look at the notification settings. You may have to reboot after you then it off. WiFi calling can't be hidden.
Ok. I found the app. I went through all my apps I downloaded after it happened and it was a new feature for Widgetsoid.
Thanks for the help all
Trying to figure out, after many years of Android, what the SYNC toggle in Android turn on/off.
I thought this woulkd turn on/off ALL push notifications, but it seems instead that it does so only for google ones (gmail. exchange, calendar, tasks, play stores) while facebook and whatsapp are totally ignored.
I am finding the best way when at home to switch off all notifications besides whatsapp actually, without going into each one of them: is tehre any?
I dont use whatsapp, but my Facebook acts same as yours.. If I don't want notifications I have to manually go in the app and turn them off. I think the sync toggle is for Google services, possibly everything set up in "accounts". The Facebook sync in accounts is for contacts, that is why it does not stop notifications.

well at least now I know it's not only me...
yeah it's a little annoying that Android does not have a sigle notificstion register point where all apps (even those not using google srvices) can register for push notifications, so that it'd be easy to toggle on/off what you want, insteda of going into each app's settings
I thought that tasker could help, but no it cannot...

Let's face it, navigation notifications on the Moto 360 just eat the battery. I don't need them as I'm getting voice turn-by-turn navigation through my car stereo via bluetooth. So, is it possible to turn them off? I know I could put the phone in airplane mode but I don't want to turn off all notifications, just navigation.

I haven't tried it but you probably could go into the android wear application on your phone and mute google maps.

So I tried the same thing. Though it's not called mute in my version. But I checked off 'maps' under 'block app notifications' but I still get random navigation cards "15 miles to work" and "20 minutes to new location" yet they are random locations at random times while I'm just sitting stationary... I work in line 10 spots in 2 towns with an ever changing schedule, this function isn't useful to me... But even with blocking maps I still get these. Anyone have an idea?

That is Google Now. Go into Google Now on the phone, and customise the settings to remove that function. I had the same issue including the weather updates constantly spamming me.

I don't mind the weather, and I actually did that after my post, in the settings... Then it happened again, opened Google note on my phone, selected the pop up and choose to no longer get notifications on navigation... And it happened again. This is the one issue I've had... :/
Thanks for great advice here. I am also solve this problem easily here.
Hey guys, I wasn't sure if this warranted it's own thread, but I think it does since there's no "Ask Any Question!" sticky like some of the big boards.
Anyway, when listening to music through Pandora, I have a persistent notification allowing me to pause/play my music from my Moto 360. Can I turn it off? Notifications are very large and block the face so I can't tell the time. Normally, I'm okay with swiping others away, but this one is persistent. I tried adding Pandora to the notification mute list in the Wear app, but that didn't work. I can mute all notifications, that's not what I'm after. Can I just turn off music control somewhere?

Go to Android Wear app on your phone, select the Cog Gears (Settings) icon on top right corner. Select first option "Mute app notifications", select Pandora or any apps you don't want notifications to be pushed to your watch. Done!

Is there a way to disable ALL notifications? I dont see a reason to get notifications on my watch when I always have my phone on me. I guess you could say I got it for an advanced watch, not another gadget to notify me of e-mail, etc

You can just pull down from the top of the watch until it vibrates and says "Mute" then you won't get any notifications until you repeat those steps to unmute it
For some reason, this trick doesn't work with tune in radio
Really?

Ummmm, you did know it was a smartwatch when you bought it? If your not using it, as a smart watch, then I don't see the point of you owning it... Just saying.

Wanting to get rid of a persistent notification that bothers him hardly puts him in the category of not using it as a smartwatch.
Even if you turned off all notifications, it's still a smart watch, it runs apps, responds to voice queries, keeps your phone unlocked, etc...

Remember during initial setup when it asked you to activate the Android Wear notification listener service? Undo that. Then it has no idea when you have a notification.

This doesn't work for Spotify either. Are there any other idea's?
Just adding my voice... it's a really annoying 'feature' of Android Wear (or Wear OS, as it now seems to be called).
I went through and I disabled every single notification (about 300 or so of them) and the media notification still appears, and doesn't time out. This is annoying because it lights up the screen which eats through my battery. Why can't it auto-hide itself LIKE EVERY OTHER NOTIFICATION?
Grrr....
So I was annoyed not having an LED notification light on oneplus 6t so I tried to make one of my own.
As OP6T has amoled display whenever a desired notification comes the app brings in a black screen with notification LED looking animation.
Though this is tested on OP6T, it should be working for most Android Oreo and later phones.
If not working for your phone, I'll suggest you to send me logs at [email protected]
To use it:
Install App.
Disable any battery optimisation for the app.
Give notification access permission.
Give full screen permission(if any required for your phone)
Select apps you want notifications for, by choosing a color (Only apps you set a color to enables LEDs).
Note: On successfully selecting a color for an app the text in which the App name is written should change to that color
Thats it.
For MIUI 11 devices make sure that AutoStart is enabled in App Info. Also check "Show on lock screen" permission in other settings.
Settings image: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1yxrLd5u7kLSGBwviKhXYqM21YLC8Dhiv
Note: To turn off the LED and to unlock phone double tap anywhere on the screen or use power button.
App now available on Play Store, please rate and share if you liked the app.

Same here. Also, an off switch for each app would be more convenient instead of picking white colour.
This is just what I needed, works great on my phone. Thank you!
I would consider using this if and when you include system apps. They are the only ones I'm interested in getting notifications from. Thanks for your efforts
Fantastic

@HarshBoy99 Hello! Thank you for the job you''re doing, but if you don't mind, i would like to point some important things.
You'r app uses a black overlay with a colorized dot in the corner, it's cool but there is a but. If The device is in a pocket, and you're using a pocket detection, the screen will turn on and show the pocket detection screen - what kinda annoying issue.
Another moment, again - becauses there is a use of black overlay, when there is already a notification panding and you recieve anothere on, there is a head-up notification with the all status bar info that shows up, again - kinda annoying.
As a recommandation - trigger the built-in AOD app instead of using a black overlay, that will fix the issues i've mentioned above + there will be an option to use fingerprint scanner on notifications.
Wish you the best!

Well I have included pocket detection in app, i.e if the LED is on and the sensor is covered the activity will be stopped. But if you have pocket mode on, it will show you the pocket mode screen for a brief moment and then switch off the display. This will help save battery if phone is in your pocket.
Yeah on that heads-up notification, I haven't found a way to get rid of this but it is only an issue of few seconds.
There are already many apps that bring on the default AOD display but it doesn't feel like an actual LED and moreover we can't change the appearance of AOD as it is a system app.
Thank You!
I wish there is an more option for WhatsApp. I do not want to receive LED from the Watsp group
Thanks

I have been using the app for some days now. I have also locked the app in recents to avoid it being killed or stop functioning. But when I get a notification, double tapping doesn't work instantly. Have to tap 4 times at least. Also, on unlocking the phone, I am in the Notify Buddy app instead.
App is great if you don't mind me offering suggestions I have a couple.
The light to move around in intervals across the top of the screen or even the two corners just to prevent possible burn in, say if you get a notification in the middle of the night or something and it blinks for hours on end (I know the chances are slim, but better to be safe than sorry)
Possibly an option to cycle the notification light if you have multiple notifications, so if I have a sms text and a messenger text it would blink once for the sms and once for messenger and cycle between them so I know I have 2 notifications.
An interval setting maybe how fast or slow for it to pulse or to keep it static. (If you choose to make it static warn it could possibly cause burn in)
If it's possible a way to keep the overlay active unless the notification is gone, I tested the app sending myself an sms text just to make sure everything was working I left the notification and the overlay didn't go back to the LED the screen just stayed black. If I'm not mistaken an actual notification light would stay active until the notification for said app was cleared.
That's all I really have for suggestions, I appreciate what you're doing with this app it's honestly the best alternative to any of the apps attempting to replicate a notification LED. I don't want you to think I don't like the app I'm just thinking of how my old phones with notification LED's behaved with notifications. Again thank you for your work and I hope my suggestions were something that could be of use.
Other then waking the phone this app is bloody great ?

Well this was exactly how I wanted for my app to function, but while testing it myself I observed that I had pending notification almost always and it would drain the battery exponentially. Therefore I went with notifying the user only while he is away from phone.
