Sense Home - Add locations - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I have Sense 7 flashed to my M8 using Skydragon.
I really like the idea of Sense Home and think it will be useful for me, but I was hoping to add more locations than just Home, Work and Out.
Is there a possibility to add more locations?
For example, if I am in my hometown I may use spotify, facebook, twitter, whatsapp etc
But if I am in London for the day, I will use Uber, Tripadvisor, Google maps etc

[Q] Will the Desire do what my Diamond 2 does?

I am currently using a Topaz windows mobile based phone, and thinking about switching to a Desire.
However, I use my phone extensively for business, and need to know if there are some things that Android will allow.
First off, I need to be able to access my home network with the wireless. Currently I use Resco explorer, browse to my server share, and copy the files I will need to the SD card. Is this possible on Android? Is it just as easy? I often have to do this first thing in the morning, when I don't have a lot of time. This is an absolute deal breaker for me, so I am really looking for some help before I commit to a new phone.
Non show stoppers but nice to have;
Cookie's Home Tab type display , which allows me to show my next 3 calendar appointments, and 3 tasks on the home screen. Will Sense allow this on the Desire? I like the Sense interface and widgets, so would prefer to keep Sense, but am prepared to apply additional software to allow me to do what I need to. (Paid or otherwise).
The ability to map hardware keys to specific functions (eg I currently have long press on the back key to switch off my wifi. Handy for in the car, when I forget to switch it off).
Ability to edit open office, and ms office documents.
That's it I guess. Any and all feedback very much appreciated.
1) yes you can browse files on your home network using the desire, you need 3rd party software tho also there are apps that will let you controll your pc and or device remotlely from your device and or pc
2) there are loads of calendar widgets on the marketplace im sure one will take your fancy
3) the wifi will switch itself off after x amout of time idle
4) the desire comes with quick office out of the box but there are tons of office apps so yeah
Just a small warning if you think to sync your mobile with the PC (callendar, notes, mails, contacts) via bluetooth - it's not possible in android.
Well, not entirely true, as there is "Missing Sync" in the market, but costs for about $40 - a bit too much.
So, try to love your usb cable
Or sync through the google things and sync your home stuff with the google things. For me it's annoying as I hate the google things, but it does sort of work.

Why would you buy a google thing-centric phone if you hate google things?
On it's way
Thanks guys, you've convinced me.
Ordered from O2 for the princely sum of £285 + VAT, which I thought was a mistake, but it seems not. Be rude not to at that price.
Bit of luck it will arrive tomorrow, as I'm not working, so can play all day

You're not "sharing" with google though. You're just using their webspace to host information such as calendar and contacts.
Do you really think that Google have the time to look though all of their user's data, see your calendar information and contacts?

Why would they bother with your phone when they've got street view cars to access open WiFi networks?

Most people here swear by Astro file manager and their add ons.
Check out the Sense agenda widget for upcoming appointments and tasks.
Widgets are the way to go, Sense widgets for WiFi, mobile connectivity, airplane mode etc etc etc......

Thanks JabbaFat32.
Will check both of those out.

[Q] Minimalistic ROM for HTC Desire

Hello,
I've searched the forum but couldn't find a rom that satisfies my minimalistic needs.
I don't need HTC Sense
I don't need facebook, footprints, friend stream, google search, gmail, news and weather, peep, twitter, stocks, talk and voice search.
Just need a phone that can sync with my google account, all other applications should be optional (may be installed later if needed)
Is there any froyo based minimalistic ROM like that? Or do I have to cook one for myself (I don't know how to cook a rom)
Thanks.

If you remove sense you loose all the sense widgets.
BUT!
Go on OpenDesire!!!! and test it (you just loose FM Radio).
Else wait for a Rom without Sense. or try Spartan (as i remember)
That would be really something.

[Q] Feeds and Updates equivalent

Is there an equivalent to the Feeds and Updates Widget in the Android Market? It's the only thing stopping me from ditching TouchWiz.
Bump...this is also the only thing stopping me. I dun need a a widget, so long as the app can aggregate the newfeeds from both twitter and facebook and allow me to post to both. So far, I have tried my6sense but it seems to be very buggy and some facebook pics showed as X .

launcherpro plus?
Try using Ping.FM via eBuddy to update all there is that you need to update. In regards to a unified Twitter / Facebook integration, SocialScope is the next best thing. Although it's in an indefinite BETA loop.
I love the LauncherPro plus widget that aggregates both, brilliant.
Tweetdeck! Finally I switched to Zeam launcher. Though the widgets suck, the app does what I wanted very nicely.
ok what i am looking for is feeds & updates like app and widget which aggregates various sites like twitter, facebook, foursquare, myspace, hyves and so on. I think it does not exist?
Pure Messenger Widget integrates twitter and Facebook feeds, but the app costs but still works like a charm

[Q] Contact Stream Widget?

Is anyone aware of a Widget that replicates the functionality of the Windows Phone 7 Contact Stream?
I'm used to seeing widgets that support multiple social networks in one stream, from all your friends in each stream....
I'm interested in a widget that follows all a particular contact's posts across multiple social networks?
Obviously it sucks that Facebook is left out in the cold on my Nexus as one of the nice pop-up icons in the People app...but if there's some way to be able to add, say, my Fiance to my home screen alongside her latest post in whatever network she felt like (twitter, facebook, G+, LinkedIn, etc), It would be great. Have had no luck searching the Market for something that does this, but I'm surprised, since it is on a competing platform and there's no reason it's not doable on ours.

Htc Sense alternatives?

Can you please suggest me an other launcher that can do all sense's sync abilities?
Because i want to flash no sense roms. But others' launchers can't sync contacts like sense... Example, sense contacts note the people's facebook or others ID numbers in google contacts list. Then when you flashed some other rom, it can completely renew all of your contacts basically.
I have already now syncing people like, facebook, Twitter, foursquare, Skype, tango, what'sup msg ext...
Is there any application that can do all basically?
(I hate to install any contacts application to change my own. I'm searching all in one roms)
Thank you for all...

What people tend to do is use the google sync to sync the contacts. For the rest you'll need to download the apps to sync the other services.
There are some apps that have several in one. For example imo messenger (not sure if it's that one) has msn, skype and several others.
What you could do is go into the market, search for facebook for example, and read the description of the other apps. Some of them will sync facebook and twitter.
Regarding the roms, there will be a seperate file to download called google apps which is for no sense roms. They are usually listed in the op.
Not sure if there is a single rom that does what you want. There is a reason it's a no sense rom.
Sent from a dream.
?
why is there so amny sesnse stuff?
if you want a rom that does it all for you , you should use a sense one and stay on it cz aosp roms you must do everything by yourself, its just pure android as google release it
Sense is hard to replace, now I'm using a custom ics rom, with standard launcher plus beautiful widget and pure messenger that are good apps but aren't free.
