UK HTC One M8 and LTE version and 4G band question. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking at upgrading my M7 to the M8 and have become aware of the 4G-LTE versions that are available, basically the O2 and Tesco network providers here in the UK only seem to support 800mhz for 4G and LTE M8's don't support 800mhz on the 4G band as I'm with Tesco then the LTE versio of the M8 is no good for me. If I root the M8 is there a way to unlock the 800mhz band for 4G on LTE versions of the M8 at all or any other way around this as all the cheaper prices for the M8 when I look online are the LTE version of the phone

Desire without 3G :(

hi everybody .. i just got HTC Desire for my wife and we have this phone for 2 days now .The phone don't read 3G and when i checked the network info the phone read EDGE and when i checked my nexus at same time i seen the network UMTS . so what i can do make this desire read 3G
Check your carrier's APN setting.
Menu->Settings->Wireless & networks->Mobile Network Settings->Access Point Names
You are on T-Mobile USA right?
Sorry but there is NO version of HTC Desire that is compatible with T-Mobile USA 3G network. No, T-Mobile in Europe does not use the same 3G bands for 3G as T-Mobile USA, so even if the phone was sold with a T-Mobile (Europe) logo on it it won't have 3G in the US.
Currently there are TWO hardware versions of the HTC Desire. The first one, A8181, is the one that is sold in Europe and Asia, and this one does not have 3G in the US. The second one, A8183, is sold in Australia by the carrier Telstra. This version is compatible with AT&T's 3G network in most part of the US, but it is not compatible with T-Mobile USA's 3G network.

You will find that very, very few "worldwide" GSM phones will work with T-Mobile US's 3G due to the split 1700/2100 AWS band that TMo US uses.
Ironically though, you can take a TMo US phone out of the US and it will happily talk 3G to most other non-US GSM networks.

Dave

Most Europe/Asian carriers only use 2100 band for 3G, so as long as your phone supports that band (most GSM phones do) you can get 3G on their network.
T-Mobile USA on the other hand, requires BOTH 1700 & 2100 bands support in order for your phone to get 3G on their network. For a long time, T-Mobile USA was the ONLY carrier in the world that use 1700 band for 3G, and therefore if a phone was not carried by T-Mobile USA it didn't have 1700 3G band support (it doesn't need to because no other carrier in the world used it). Well, lately a new Canadian wireless carrier, Wind, also employs the 1700 & 2100 bands for their 3G network... so the chance of getting more phones to support these 3G bands has slightly increased. Slightly, because Wind is a new and small carrier...

Desire under AT&T

Hi, I'm planning to buy one of unlocked Desire on Ebay. there is only one thing bother me. Will desire work under AT&T's 3G network? I know it will definitely work under 2G(EDGE) network, but how about 3G?
I think AT&T uses 850/1900/2100 Mhz band, and the Desire support 1900/2100 Mhz, will that works?
BTW: I'm in Illinois if you are trying to say AT&T is using different band in different states.
thank you very much

[Q] How can I use LTE band 3(1800) in my t-mobile m8(op6B130)??

Hi gays.
I Have a questions to my HTC one M8.... T-mobile ver.
I'm live in Korea. so I must use LTE band 3(1800) that I using LTE network, to my HTC one m8.
(((((((((((((( (Korea's main lte Band is (850, 1800) ))))))))))))))
But T-mobile m8(Op6b130) isn't support LTE radio, for using LTE band 3.
Here is my questions.
how can I use LTE band 3?? is it possible?
radio patch ?? root?? anything ...
please help. OTL....
Any chance with olleh LTE?
Hello rememberwe,
I have tried to flash several RADIOS without success on my HTC M8 Lollipop 5.0.1 / SuperCID.
My provider is "olleh".
WWE radio gives me 3G only ("H" is displayed above the signal quality and the max D/U speed I get is around 6MB/s).
HK, TAIWAN, VERIZON radios give me no signal (cannot even recognize my SIM card and the network parameters are not accessible)
Did you finally manage to make your M8 connect to LTE?
Thanks.

Can you tell a LTE 4G M8 from an Non LTE 4G from just the box??

I am looking at getting a HTC One M8 but need to steer clear from the LTE 4G version as LTE doesn't support 800mhz on the 4G band and my network provider (O2) only supports 800mhz for LTE. eBay seem the best place to get a new M8 at a decent price but alot of them don't list weather its the LTE version or not or just down right don't know. Is there a way to tell from the box which version the phone is?, would all M8's bought from UK stores be the non LTE version?
For mine, model number is on box sticker. E.g. M8x, M8d.
Different models support different lte bands.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA app
Is there any info on what model numbers refer to which band is used?
You will need to Google for it.

Got a HTC One M8 from T-Mobile, now lte support for AT&T

Hi everyone, I just bought a HTC One M8 from Ebay that is unlocked from T-Mobile and that cost be $169. Do you guys think this was a good deal? All that aside, I want to use that phone on Cricket that basically uses AT&T bands. I see that the lte bands for HTC One M8 only supports 4,17 while AT&T used 2,4,5,17. I know that Oneplus One had the same problem with not having lte bands 2 and 5 but people had it working for AT&T lte. Just wanted to know is there anyway to unlock the bands 2, 5 for AT&T full lte bands? Thank you.
