I just wanted to post an issue I ran into and save a lot of other people the trouble of trying to figure it out (And a Factory Reset). My home screen icons had all disappeared, after an hour of trying to figure out what was the cause, and ready to reset my fire TV to factory defaults, I found out the cause of the missing icons. It turns out if you turn off the "Collect App Usage Data" setting under "Applications", it will make all your icons on your home screen disappear except for the "Featured" bar (Goodbye Kodi Home Icon!). I hope this will save somebody the frustration and wasted time of trying to find out what happened to their home screen, after inadvertently changing to a seemingly unrelated setting.

I recently rooted my phone and removed some bloatware (all backed up btw) mainly the ones on the safe list in the thread posted about it here. I don't know if that is what is causing the following problem, but just to preface that if so.
I noticed it yesterday when I was trying to type something using swype, when I finished letting go the screen started to randomly tap and drag letters without me even touching it. I stopped had to turn the screen off/on to get it to stop. I also notice that if I hold the phone vertically and move it around a bit it starts to drag the home screens back and forth. Also when I am at the phone menu it's hard to tap the exact number I want. If I tap 5 say, it will randomly either tap 5 or 8. It's liek it's not calibrated.
So I go to the display to calibrate it and it kind of sort of alleviates some of the other issues, but I still have inaccurate touces. Is it a program I removed perhaps from htc that is necessary for the screen. Do I need to update the firmware on the rooted one?
I've noticed that my display sometimes doesn't turn off. It'll dim like it's about to turn off, but just stays dimmed. It doesn't do it all the time and I can't seem to figure out why sometimes it doesn't turn off and other times it does.
The tablet is rooted, I'm using Nova launcher, and have Hide Soft Keys installed, though have had problems with Hide Soft Keys disabled too. I have a bunch of other apps already loaded too. So before I start uninstalling everything, was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue?

That's because of the crappy power button. You've got to press it harder.
No. I was referring to the automatic idle turn off after a couple minutes. My screen will dim after 2 minutes (what I have the turn off period set to), but once in a while it never completely turns off and will stay on. I set the tablet down, went to the store, came back and the display was still on in a dimmed, but not off state.

Yes I have noticed this as well. Must be a bug? I have my screen time out set to 2 minutes (default I believe) and i have set it down for over 10 minutes and came back with the screen still on.
I did a factory reset yesterday morning.
First, I was kinda surprised after the factory reset, that after I logged into the device again, I found that some of the files were erased, but not all of them. Usually factory reset wipes everything, even the root. But SuperUser was still installed. And I installed AdAway and confirmed root was still working. My TitantiumBackup folder got wiped, but Kindle folder remained. Not sure why the factory reset seemed to only half work.
However it does seem factory reset might have fixed the problem I was having with the screen not turning off sometimes. When I first setup the Nexus 7 I choose the option to restore from my Google backup and I got all the apps I had installed on my Nexus 4 (my Nexus 4 seems fine with those apps). So this time around after the factory reset I played it safe and did not choose the restore from Google backup option and just manually reinstalled the apps I need for now. And so far so good.
OK so eveytime I reboot one or two if my lock screen icons disappear I can't figure out why I thought it might be an exposed module but I uninstalled exposed and it still happens very randomly it'll either be the first or second icon or sometimes both all I have to do to get them back is go into settings and lock screen and hit save them there back anyone with any idea why this would be happening?
Alright, so I was setting up my ls990 and during the setup of everything (apps/widgets/screens/you know) I managed, or perhaps my phone managed, to simply stop displaying lock screen shortcuts. I know what you may be thinking, no, there are no passwords, knock codes, pins, locks, mods, extras, or anything that *could* cause this.
It's a simple swipe to unlock, that's it, there are shortcuts 'set' in the lock screen settings as you'd expect, but no matter what fiddling, swiping, or press-and-holding I try will bring them back. Every last combination of settings and lock screen fidgeting and 'oops I deleted the default circle lock screen widget thingy but found out how to bring it back and also learned how to set the default lock screen page that will show when I turn the screen on'-ing will make them show again... So after on and off and mostly on playing around with it over the last 10 hours or so, and seeing how it is now 5 am where I live, and certainly the tunnel vision has set in or I'm just plain ol' dumb and/or incapable of swiping my own buttons, I'd figure that somewhere in the population of LG g3 owning & xda browsing intelligental(wo)mens there could be somebody to set my plain ol' dumb button pushing straight.
Any ideas?
Posting on the chrome browser from my nifty ls990 via my Wi-Fi connection, tanks.
Well anything? Need smart people please, I'll consider this a bump.
Do you see the Emergency Call box at the bottom? I just had that same issue, and it appeared to be triggered by a lack of signal or going into roaming mode. Setting the device into Airplane Mode brought the shortcuts back for me. Here's exactly what I did:
1. Set the device into Airplane Mode (I used the shortcut from the notification shade).
2. Lock the device.
3. Hit the power button to bring up the lock screen. Verified shortcuts were there.
4. Shut off Airplane Mode (once again, used shortcut).
Let me know if that works...
The problem:
I will hit the power button to sleep the device. I have fingerptint/pin set as my lockscreen. My lockscreen wallpaper and home wallpaper are different, so the issue is easy to see. I sleep the device, then anywhere from 1-30 seconds later I hit the button again to wake it. Instead of showing the fingerprint scanner and my lockscreen wallpaper, it shows my home wallpaper, with the small gesture bar at the bottom. There are two ways to get past this, swipe down from the top for the quick tiles and then swipe them back up and the lockscreen wallpeper and fingerprint scanner shows. Or I can hit power to sleep and then power to wake again and my lockscreen is there.
I thought the issue was with the kernel at first because I hadn't noticed it outside of installing it. After flashing to stock kernel I noticed it happening again. It happens once every 5-10 wakes. It's not super annoying, but still annoying.
I have tried backing up and restoring everything from Google One, then rooting, then with and without a custom kernel, still the same issue.
I have also tried backing up and restoring all my data through SwiftBackup. For apps I backup all user app data parts: APKs, Data, Ext. data, Expansion, and Media. (Not sure if I even need to but certain games etc I don't want to lose data). After I restore I use the same Magisk 24000 to patch and flash the boot.img.
No matter what I've tried, the issue still seems to persist. If it helps, I am on Android SP2A.220405.004
If anyone might know what is causing this or how I can fix it, that would be great. Thanks!
