I have a LG G3 D855, rooted, with twrp, and a stock based rom (cloudyg3 2.2 i think).
I also have an 32gb sd card.
I would like to be able to link my apps and data to it.
So i understand that i need 2 partitions.
So i made a 20gb fat32 partition and a 10 gb ext2 partition.
If i use link2sd or DS app2sd lite i get error when tryink to link something.
I dont know what to try anymore.
Did anyone managed to get this working on lg g3 ?
Bump
I have simiral question.
I'm wondering to buy LG G3, but don't know if it's possible to move application data onto SD card without root?

Hi
Has anybody found a App that lets you move apps to sd card on the LG G pad 8.3
Downloaded at least 3 but all will not move apps.
Two of them said that drive and sd card are the same.
All have worked on android phones is this a tablet issue
Anybody done it on G Pad with a standard App
Link2sd Works. You will have to repartition your sdcard. There are numerous posts out there to show you how, even some here if you search through the forums. Also, Google is your friend!

Thanks for all the Post :good:
What is reason that Standard Android Apps don't work on the G Pad or is it they way that tablet's use the SD card compared to Phones or size of SD card min is only 32g

Android changed this and the apps themselves supposedly could redirect themselves to the sd card by building it in but most do not.
Different vendors enable the option on their devices, Samsung for one, still makes it native.
Link2sd is actually a very good app, well made in my opinion, and works quite well!
The problem I have, is that I want to use ext2 on my sdcard by default, but am stuck using fat32. I started working on the kernel thinking to change it there but support is already enabled in the menu-config of the kernel. I have a suspicion that I could edit the palman-fstab, but i'm chicken!
thanks for compressive answer

Hi, need some assistance on the lin2sd app. I've followed the instructions on varies instructions in the forum and set the 2nd partition on the sd card. When i tried to create link, the follow error occured:
Failure
- directory '/data/sdext2/app-lib':I/O error
I look up at storage info / SD Card 2nd Part, it shows used 0.98GB. Then when I go to More options/clean up the 2nd partition, there is no files to be deleted. Why will I used up 0.98GB when there is no files in the 2nd partition?
May I know what is the problem and I should I resolve it?

What do you mean, trouble reading or writing to the sdcard? Try formatting the card on the phone itself, that usualy works.
What are you trying to do with the card? it might be that you just are not aware with how Android Kitkat treats the sd card slot?

Probably......only File Manager can write or delete files on my sd card, Xplore or a different Manager can't, is it normal in KitKat?

Apps can only write and edit files that they themselves created on the SD card which is why third party apps are not working. It is to stop rouge apps deleting / creating / modifying files that they shouldn't be.

With files you mean system files or files created by you? You should be able to delete or move files with an alternative file explorer or you might try gaining root (towel root is easiest) to gain admin rights.
If you root your phone, you can remove the limitations that were added in KitKat.
Many 'newbie experts' who say that an 8 or 16GB phone is fine as you can move apps etc. to an SD card are finding out the hard way that KitKat restrictions prevent using the card the same way as it used to be in older Android versions unless the device is rooted.

Someone else had the same problem and they did an equipment swap and the new G3 didn't have the problem.
So it might be the SD card slot itself or its interface and a exchange might be neccessary.
so i keep reading that from KitKat, SD Cards are locked down so this how locked down is this on this phone.. what can/can't be stored on the card? ie can say
movies be played from the SDCard?
this kinda will make decide between 16GB or 32GB model.

If you are rooted, install this app from the play store and run it once and reboot. Your apps will now have full access to the external sdcard like it was before KitKat.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
but i am talking without rooting...
why sell a 16GB devices with a SD CARD if you cant use it unless u root it.. kinda makes it point less and more weight to get the 32GB model.. either this or some other phone.
I would presume LG tweak to the O/s has enabled access which is what i am curious if this is the case.
anyone confirm this without ROOT?
Of course you can keep your files on the card. I have music and movies there. There are apps that detect the presence and allow you to save directly on the sd card - like the stock lg camera does. You don't need root to do any sorcery here for regular usage.

Without root and the permission fix I referenced earlier, you will have the stock KitKat permissions when it comes to apps reading/writing to the External SD Card. Some things work, and other things won't. You may or may not notice it, as it all depends on what you use the external sdcard for...
Hi,
I would like to swap the default storage to the SD card. I have T800 and find the 16gb not enough for all my staff.
Is there any way to swap the default storage? I have found link2sd but I never used it and maybe there is a better solution. I am rooted and running Ironrom .

Thanks for your reply. The app just allows to move the movable apps to the SD but this is already built in and I can do this from the app manager.
I wanted to swap the actual default storage from the internal storage to SD. Some of the smartphones do have this option. (I have a Honor 6 phone and I am able to change the default storage from internal to external. Even without root.)
Unfortunately you can't do that with any Samsung device, they just didn't fix it because of the SD card liability and how they construct their folders. I've been wanting that to make it easy.

That's why i am nostalgic to Jelly Bean . I even get lost of my Windows 8 laptop for the changes i don't like, happy now with Windows 7 and Microsoft knows it , the start menu is back in Windows 10.
And for Android,i stay far away from Lollipop. KitKat is bad enouf for me
when there's a will there's a way
No default to sd card but you can move the installed apps via settings in the apps manager. Also you could try foldermount to link these large files to the sd card
Hi Everybody,
My LG G4 BEAT is now a little bit slow.... i have already did what i can do on the current Rom (cleaning, removing apps, clearing cache) - and nothing seems to improve to situation.
i have on it 32 GB micro SDcard, and i save on it everything that can be saved instead on the memory phone, but it is not enough, i have always the same message "not enough space...." when i try to download new Apps or when i'm trying to make Updates.
i figured maybe i'll install a new Rom, and the most important thing is that it will make the phone work faster.
can you recommend me on suitable ROM ? is the first time that i try to do that, so i need some good explanations.
thanks! =)
no bootloader unlock = no recovery = no custom rom
In my experience, custom roms are nearly always faster than stock. And they don't slow down as much as the stock rom. Perosnally I like vanilla android roms with a few tweaks. I find they are the most stable and least prone to slowdown over time. I've used Cyanogenmod in the past and loved it, but there isn't a stable release for the G4. I recommend looking into AOSP-based roms in the Android Development section of this forum. Or you could just do a factory reset, which will make your phone faster. It will still slow down over time, however.
I don't think installing a custom rom will really help your problem with not having enough space. However, installing a rom clears your data partition (this means all apps and the saved data with those apps will be removed. Your personal data like pictures and music will be left untouched.) And that means you'll have plenty of free space!
Have you thought about mounting your SD card as an internal partition instead of a media SD card? This allows the system to use the sd card as if it were an internal sd card, meaning you can install apps to it and stuff. But you will only be able to use your SD card for that phone.

No it isn't, it's just hidden.
You can partition your SD Card through ADB.
On reddit (Enable adoptable storage on your LG G4 (stock, no root needed)) there is a nice tutorial for the LG G4, but it works exactly the same way for the G4s.
But read the comments, there you get usefull hints, like only use a part of the external SD as adoptable storage.
Since I use this I have more than enough space with my G4s and it's even faster, if your SD Card is fast enough.
If you need any further details don't hesitate to contact me.
if i install twrp no-troot h735 then flash magisk to phone it will be rooted?
Custom Rom ? (LG G4 Beat)
Nope, as long as I saw....and it won't be
