I've been always a fan of On screen keys ... and Samsung are famous of their Home button issue where it fails to operate after 10 months or so , and also i hate physical buttons .. had before Galaxy S 1 and it was no exception failed the home button and also S3 failed button too ... and just switched from Lenovo A3000 Phablet which had on screen buttons that rotates with the screen as i rotate the device ..
I came across this video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUBDiUy2824
It contains Cyanogen Mod 12 on OnePlus One Device which does exactly what I'm searching for simple switch in the settings to either use off screen buttons or sacrifice little bit from the screen size for the on screen buttons and it is Great !!
Just regular original android 3 buttons to be on screen
Does the CM11 or CM12 have that option already for N5100 ??
OK ..
So no one know anything about on screen buttons here ?
Xposed framework. Gravity box. It should be able to do it.

Dear Devs. Chefs...
Please please please make a mode that will enable a soft buttons menu when we release the s pen from the note 2, :fingers-crossed:
Very annoying when u have to touch your finger to toggle the buttons.
I hope some one has thought about this.
It would be great if it buttons would be integrated on the statusbar.
I'm using a Stock Rooted Rom...
I've tried the status bar enabled full time and that is annoying too...
Looking for trigger based soft buttons to be specific
I want the S pen features to work...
I've tried the PAC rom! I like it but then I like the S pen features more!
Thank you Cheers!

Is there any app that enables " Lets say Floating Soft Buttons '' ?
I've tried searching and ended up with nothing resourceful!
1. Press pen button
2. Swipe pen downwards on bottom left and bottom right of screen
3. Profit
Gestures aren't super fast but they work

It's not disabled. It's just isn't possible. S pen works on potentiometer. It just sends the movement signals the pressure on pen tip and the button. It does not simulate human touch. So it's not possible.

OMG Thank you so much !!!

From four months of using Note II until today I never knew about this gesture feature...THANKS for the info.
My bad. ..
Sorry n Thank you for the tip. .. .
But there is no option to add command like go back to main menu or switch application.
I could allocate a task manager though.

hi all,
i just found out a dusted HTC Desire...
the menu button was not working , and i havent tested the middle joistik before, i dont even know what it does or how it works....
i opened the smartphone, cleaned good the pieces (it was really dusted)....
now, the menu button do the same effect as pressing home + volume up at the same moment....
and the joistik button do the same as pressing the voulme down button....
what i can do? try clean it again better?
i dont feel like the menu button is completely dead :silly:
any ideas?
i want to clean up well the phone to give it to a friend and also power it up with a cool rom....
if , at the end, i will not repair the buttons, exist a rom that have virtual buttons (like nexuse)
thanks for all the help....
Not sure how to fix your hardware problems, but an alternative would be to user the navigation bar (soft keys) like on nexus devices. You will need a 4+ ROM to enable the navbar, but to easily control the size I would recommend the PA ROM in my signature. It allows you to change height/colour of the navbar easily, whereas in other ROMs you will need to flash stuff/make changes to the build prop to enable it.

I have a rooted Note 2014 with Clean Romo 1.0 on it. I mainly use my Note in tablet mode but hate having to use the default arrows on the side. I was hoping their was an app or a zip that enabled this so it would float to however you had your screen. Any ideas?

I assume you're referring to the soft navigation keys?
There are a number of apps if you search for soft navigation keys on Google Play. Maybe start with this one (as it doesn't seem you need root access to enable it)?

Edit: So I just installed the Handy SoftKeys app and it seems to do what you want it to do, although the placement on the screen is a little weird (middle of the screen on the right edge). The "back" key doesn't seem to work in every single application, but the "home" and "running apps" buttons seem to work okay.
Hi.
I'm new here, came from Galaxy s2 that served me well for a long time.
Today I received my new htc one m8, i have root it and installed xposed framework.
As i came from 3 button layout(home, menu and back) and htc has home, back and recents (which show on long press one the home button of the S2. i really miss the menu button. I know whenever there is a need for menu , the 3 dots appear. But i relay on it for specific shortcut and it will not appear on all my apps.
I think in Lg G2 there is a built in option to change the soft buttons layout.
I didn't found a specific way to change the layout or a way to add the menu to appear all the time
Does anyone has an idea if its possible?
If not built in, maybe an xposed module that will do it or simulate the recent button to act as menu button on long press?
I have sense 6 toolbox module, but it has only back and home key modification onlong press.
Thanks.

Thanks! It worked! And this module has some other nice tweaks.

Hi ,i have a note 3 and a 8.4 S , both excellent devices , very happy with them.......but the left hardware button on my Note 3 , generally pulls up options for the app , for example i use googles Finance app , the only way i know to open up the options for it , is to press the left hardware button , but on the 8.4 S that just pops up options to move between apps and to close down apps....
Another app i use is Boat Browser , i like to run it in full screen mode , on the note 3 , pressing the left hardware key , pops up the tabs and the address bar.....but once again on the 8.4 it just pops up the options to move between apps / task manager......, i have set up a gesture on boat browser to go full screen and out of full screen......but this does not help on some of the other apps i use....
Anyway to change the function of the hardware keys....or am i missing a option or something....

This was posted in another sub forum. You either root and mod the file stated in the link or see the 3rd post about holding down on the left button till the menu appears on the latest firmware.

Brilliant thank you , a long press does the trick....
on the note 3 , a long press on the home button , brings up the programs/task manager and the left key brings up options in apps etc....
its a bit different as you will know on the 8.4 s....but thank you that works a treat
Brilliant
